I only got into yoga because I was looking for a workout to do with my wife. I signed up for the six month special on day one because, well...let's be honest I'm cheap. When they say that #yogaislife, it's a phrase that basically communicates that yoga helps to center all other activities in your life. The people at the Wellness Center completely understand that we are all on a journey and work at our own pace. I like that every instructor is patient with the other yogis in class. Occasionally they will push you "to your edge", and that is the place where we all see our growth and potential. After 90 minutes of 105 degree temperature your body, mind and soul will thank you for this uninterrupted time. This studio is okay. I've been studying Bikram Yoga for a little over two years now and have practiced at several different studios throughout the U.S. I currently live in San Francisco and practice at Global Yoga almost everyday so even when I'm out of town, I do a search for local yoga studios so I can maintain my routine. The language that the instructors use to guide the students through each pose is almost the same; however, they alter the nuances of some of the poses just enough to make them different for me. When I'm a visitor at a studio, I try to honor the teacher's instruction as best I can, but I found that the details that this studio either omitted or altered was a little odd. Especially since out of the 6 or 7 studios I have either visited or have been a student at, it was the first time I'd ever heard of such alterations. But looking at the website again, they don't claim to be Bikram, they're hot yoga, but the 26 poses are generally the same. I'm so accustomed to the gentle, nurturing yet thorough instruction at Mary Jarvis' studio, it's hard to visit another place but this one was the hardest. The studio is fine. It's clean and there's ample space. The room's temperature was fine and in fact, could've been a little hotter. Again, if you're looking for somewhere to practice, this could be okay. But if you're working on your shoulder-to-chin connection on some of your poses or bending over pidgeon-toed, it's not the practice here. And they'll come over to correct that. read more

Went to this studio a couple times while visiting my parents from new york. The instructors were very knowledgable and helpful ... but if you're used to a disciplined class (like I am), you'll be terribly distracted. Lots of extra movements, people coming in and out of the room, and very rarely was the class moving together on any posture. One class I took was WAY over 105 degrees ... it can't disrupt the benefits of the class all that much to open the door to cool it down ... Like I said, though, the instructors knew what they were doing and gave me great corrections I would have never gotten in a larger class! read more

Hot? yes. Yoga? Maybe not. While it wasn't a terrible experience, I don't think I'll be back to this studio. I was thinking I'd get a more yogic experience than I did. This studio had absolutely zero ambiance. The room was lit by fluorescent lights!! Really? In a yoga studio... C'mon! There was no music, either. Finally, the instructor placed no importance whatsoever on the spiritual aspect of yoga. Honestly, it felt like an exercise class rather than a yoga class. (And if what you're looking for is a hot exercise class, you probably won't be disappointed.) The instructor was helpful and nice, but not warm in that "yoga" way. My initial reaction to this studio was not the best. I came from a certified Bikram studio in NY and was not open to anything but real Bikram. However, after a couple months of practice at this studio, I find it more beneficial than a certified studio. Rather than follow a dialogue, they critique their classes to the students, offering adjustments that otherwise would not be mentioned bc it would not follow the Bikram dialogue. My practice has actually improved. It is the same 26 postures, and heat. The studio itself could use some sprucing up but I've been to better studios w terrible instructors.... This yoga studio is awesome and you definitely get a good workout. It is HOT! However, It's not uppity or intimidating like a lot of other studios I've been too where the front desk women and teachers are not that friendly and can be a little off putting to newcomers. The two teachers I've had have been welcoming and nice (Sonya and Julie). Will definitely be going back. read more

I love the challenge of the heat and Boot camp combo. The instructor Sonya is great at keeping you motivated and pushing you to your max potential. She also reminds you to rest and take breaks if you need it. Thursday's at 6:45 am for an hour, Friday's starting in September at 6:45 am for 30 min and Saturdays at 7:45 am for an hour. i came to a class last Saturday 930-1100 as a new student. Don't remember instructors name (petite, blond) but I need to let someone know that she was the worst instructor ever! Here are a few things she told the class.... No one is to drink their water until the whole class did and she would let us do so every 5 sets. No towels allowed to wipe face. No leaving the room...if you need a break you can lay on the mat in a special way but not allowed to close your eyes OR she would start CPR on you. Whenever standing you had to stand with toes and heels touching. She actually yelled out in class if someone's toes or heels weren't touching. No talking in the room at all. I was so physically sick from this class that I puked about 3 hrs later and was so dehydrated my blood pressure was extremely low. It took me until Monday to feel normal. What kind of yoga place is this?? I get the quiet environment, etc but it needs to be kind of fun or no one will come back. Btw, I saw no AED anywhere and this place definitely needs one. Obviously you guys won't be getting me as a new customer nor the other new people there. read more

As a person visiting I was really excited to find a studio so close to my brother in-laws home. I practice 3x a week and was happy to not miss a class just because I was not at home. This place is awful awful awful. I have never had such a horrible experience in a yoga class. The teacher gave corrections which I found not to be helpful but a bit ridiculing. Such as "I am going to save you from Orthopedic Back surgery" She made me not want to try her corrections but just stand there. She came over and tried to man-handle me into the way that she wanted without asking if she could touch me. She also never asked me if I had any injuries before trying to move me. The rug needs to seriously be cleaned. I have been in a lot of hot yoga rooms and I understand that there is a certain odor that comes along with it. But this particular one felt dangerous to breathe in. In Bikram we have 1 official water break. I understand that you don't drink water up until the water break and after that official break we don't drink in between postures because it is rude and distracting to other practitioners. This teacher told us when we could and couldn't drink water. I thought that was a bit much. All this being said, I understand that the teacher thought my form was terrible, and maybe it is, but there is a way to correct people without making them want to give up. In my work as a personal trainer I feel that it is important and valuable while giving corrections to also encourage people and let them know that this is where they may be today but the end goal is attainable. This class was a bit traumatizing for me. I will NEVER EVER go back here and I encourage people to find another location. read more

I had a bad experience. I went to a hot yoga class for my birthday a few yrs ago. I have never gone back to one since. Dr. Popper made my blood boil as she ranted about paying over 10K for mirrors for the class (me) to use for proper form. She unleashed other inappropriate rants directly to me as we looked eye to eye during her communications. I am an AA woman with a natural extra meat on my derrier. A tucked bottom will appear protruded on my small frame. I felt ostracized and antagonized and the stress from the heat and her public chastisement has stayed with me for years - and kept me from stepping foot in another hot yoga class. I fear my first reaction will b stress and anger, not good. More power to you under her guidance. I prefer my yoga at home now. She did apologize to me after the class for 'not having a good day'. I had no words then and none other than stay away if Yoga is a sanctified place for you to escape the stress of life. read more

I took yoga consistently for a year and a half and wanted to see what the yoga studios near my new apartment had to offer. I was excited to see there was one just 5 minutes away from my apartment! 2 friends and I decided to try it out one day and I can honestly say I have never felt more unwelcomed and criticized than I did at Wellness Forum Hot Yoga. This was very disappointing for me because I was looking for a place that was a convenient drive and a place where I felt my mind and body could relax. This instructor will make you feel very unwelcomed. It is safe to say that the three of us will not be returning. read more

I started doing hot yoga earlier this year and was checking out studios around town. I came across Wellness Forum via Groupon and signed up for the month unlimited. Overall, my impression of this studio is not the best. The class is kept EXCEPTIONALLY HOT - I'm guessing at least 110 degrees with at least 30% humidity. I've been to hot studios and this place was rediculous. I was delerious after my first class and found it hard to perform the poses due to the heat (it was obvious other newbies to this location also had issues). During my first class, I was scolded when I went for my water - I didn't realize there were only special times where you can drink water, which again is kinda rediculous. I understand the whole unity/together thing when it comes to the movements and such, but I was dying. After a few classes I got used to the heat, but still it was pretty unbearable. After one class, aparently I was talking too loudly OUTSIDE of the studio, where everyone else was standing and was told to SHUSH by the instructor - wow. The studio is carpeted, which is gross in my opinion. The women's locker rooms were not much more than a room with a cloth sheet over the entryway. The place is also connected to the Wellness Forum - which prepares food. The place smells like a cafeteria. The instructors kept reiterating every class that if you were late, they would not allow you in. With the traffic in the area, it could be hard to get to class on time, and honestly, I dont think the class members would care. Personally, I'd rather have more people in a class than have someone left out because they were 5 minutes late. I think anything over 15 minutes and the class should be closed. It is a 1.5 hour class. I will say, the instructors helped me with my form and the others attending the class were very nice. But, I've been there, done that. Heading somewhere else. Maybe if they changed their approach to things, I would come back, but I doubt it. read more

I don't give 5s for anyone or anything, so for me to rate this facility as a 5 speaks beyond the service they provide but the caliber of people who serve there. I walked into this facility after purchasing a Groupon, terrified, in the worst shape of my life. This was a crisis purchase and I had no idea what 'hot yoga' was. It sounded so radical enough to jolt me back to health. So 4 wks after doctor's clearance, post-surgery...I walked into Dr. Popper's class and all I can say is the results speak for themselves. I am now down 32 lbs with diet and exercise and this class has played a huge role in this. I've been practicing for under 8 months and each class I'm thrilled w/ the progress I'm making. I've had ALL of the instructors on the roster and each brings their unique take to the practice. I'm usually the largest person in class and never have I ever been made to feel, unwelcomed nor judged. I've told everyone I know because there's a point many of us reach, where it's do or die. I was and still am a lady on a mission to save my life. Thanks be to God and the staff of this incredible facility for seeing my need and cheering me on to greatness. I hope others who read this review, will understand that's it's just as important to be a consumer who brings good energy to the table and not just those in a position of service. I've gained from The Wellness Forum Hot Yoga, everything I bring to it...a good afttitude, a willingness to grow, open communication and dialogue, and from there I've seen good fruit of my labor. I am a regular at a local studio, and have been challenged as part of my Level 1 teacher training to check out different studios. I'm used to Vinyasa style, so the Bikram format is quite different than I'm used to. I'm sure it's beneficial, but I prefer the flow from one pose to another. This, however, is not why I gave this "studio" one star. This place was disgusting. The ladies locker room is a closet with dirty bookshelves for your things, and you are encouraged to lock your valuables in your car. The practice room is carpeted and also doubles as the room for a class called "sweat box". This means to me that the carpet is sweat soaked. At least, it smelled like it was. The teacher's instructions were very rigid, and I didn't feel the freedom that I enjoy at my studio: "We all drink water at the same time on my instruction" and (singling me out at times because I was new) "In this style of yoga, we do this pose differently." The whole experience was bad, and I will never go back. read more

One thing i hate when i call a business is when they do not introduce themselves...what makes it worse is when i ask "i'm sorry who am i speaking with" and they continue to ask "who is this? what do you need" that's extremely unprofessional and just plain bad customer service. I called this business today to inquire on a groupon and that is exactly how she spoke to me "who are you and what do you need" smh...terrible...you just lost a customer and trust me i posted on my FB about your terrible customer service as well. read more

I have been practicing the Bikram style of yoga for several years and am a believer in the Bikram-style of hot yoga classes for better health and well-being. I was thrilled when I moved to the area to have a Bikram style yoga studio nearby. However, I have mixed feelings about this yoga studio. The yoga studio is in an odd location which can be quite a pain to get to during high traffic times (the 5:30pm class, for example). The studio itself is quite small and has a very limited number of classes each week, especially for the price that it costs to go to these classes. There is only one bathroom/shower per locker room, so if someone wants to shower after class, the locker room is quite crowded with a line of people waiting to use the bathroom. The yoga studio has carpet that everyone sweats on (it is very stained) and there is a certain odor to the room. The mirrors are usually dirty with sweat marks from previous classes. There are fluorescent lights which do not provide a "calming" ambience to the room. That being said, many of the instructors are really fantastic! They are there to help you become better at what you do and seem to enjoy their work. I really enjoy being a part of these instructors' classes. If you are interested in learning more about Bikram style yoga, I encourage you to give this type of yoga a chance. If you come to this studio, be prepared to sweat a lot and give it a week or so of regular attendance before you decide whether or not this is for you. read more

I practice bikram yoga regularly and this is first time I tried non bikram, hot yoga since I was visint family from out of state. 26 postures were same but teacher added or omitted here and there. I guess they read reviews on here and changed some displines. They actually locked the studio door so no body could enter the room later then class time. For me, dirty and smelly carpet really bothered me. I really looked dirty and it took me awhile to get used to smell. Also, it looks like nobody cleans mirror as well, all the mirros has sweat stains all over which is disgusting. Not like bikram yoga where you can take first water break after eagle postures then freely in between the postures, here you can only drink water when teacher says so. It really didn't do much for me because I ended up drinking more then a sip I usually do when I need between the postures since I didn't know when she will say "drink water". Also middle of class, she turned ceiling fans and I didn't like it that much. Changing room was very small and has only one bathroom and shower. I can't wait to go back to my regular bikram studio when I get back to town. read more
