There are really not enough words of praise to describe how I feel about Barrett and especially Josh Goldberg. I have purchased 3 homes in the Phoenix area. The first one was with another financial group and the last 2 were with Barrett, Josh being my mortgage specialist. I can say, without reservation that the differences between the 2 outfits were amazing. My first purchase with Josh and Barrett was effortless and went super smooth , a piece of cake but the second purchase was where they blew me away. I was out of work on a temporary medical loa and collecting disability, which greatly affected my income. I was initially turned down for a mortgage. Josh was on top of it through the entire process and when I was denied he wouldn't accept the result. I thought I was out of luck but then Josh told me not to give up. Unfortunately, my experience with Howard Welling was disappointing. I participated in a Facebook group moderated by him and was removed after posting a respectful and factually accurate comment about real estate values, specifically, that a home's condition plays a major role in its appraisal, regardless of surrounding home prices. Rather than engage in a constructive conversation, the moderator deleted my comments and ultimately removed me from the group. It felt less like a professional space for discussion and more like an environment where differing viewpoints are silenced. In my opinion, this kind of behavior reflects poorly on someone representing a business. Healthy dialogue and the ability to handle feedback or different perspectives are crucial, especially in fields like real estate or finance. I am a first time home-buyer. I had heard how painful this process was going to be and that my emotions would be all over the place. I did NOT experience that regarding the financial aspect at all! Josh Goldberg was so helpful. He gave me detailed estimates of the cost for everything, down to even $12 fees so that I knew exactly what my costs would be as well where the money was going. This was a huge help in planning everything out, which put my mind at ease! What also put my mind at ease was that Josh was a man of his word. If he quoted me something he went out of his way to make sure that I would get what he quoted me or less. This even ended up costing him a great deal of money just to make sure he kept his word. We have worked with Josh Goldberg at Barrett 3 times in the last 3 years. We bought our new home 3 years back and Josh helped us through the process, explained all the pros and cons of our mortgage options, and even recommended we use another company because they were offering a better deal. We have since refinanced twice through Josh and Barrett, once for a better interest rate, and the last time because of a tax mix up with the county and the bank. I have refinanced my mortgage twice in the last 5 years and used Barrett Financial both times. The process was as smooth as could be with Barrett. I used Josh Goldberg both times. He was FANTASTIC! He got me great rates. Also, I travel a lot for work so I am in and out of Phoenix. Josh made things as easy as possible for me with my schedule. He called, emailed or texted every step of the way to keep me in the loop on what was going on and what would need my attention. An absolute incompetent nightmare. Michael luculano is a lying thief. Check him out on rip off report. He took zero responsibility for anything, blamed everything on everyone else. He's got some great reviews on rip off report as well. Fake names, rip off scams. I would never ever recommend them. The owner was CC'd on every email. Never got a single phone call or email back to straighten out the problems. These people do not care about anyone but themselves. Debie was the only one who seemed to care, but she couldn't do anything to really help. But she tried! I have bought many many of houses and I have never seen the complete morons they are. Josh Goldberg did our refinance and he was the only lender that did not charge us a loan origination fee. He also did not charge us a processing fee, an underwriting fee, or a doc prep fee. I was amazed at how much less his closing costs were than any of the other lenders and banks were and yet his interest rate was also better to equal to anyone else I checked with. I would highly recommend using Josh Goldberg for a purchase loan or a refinance loan, as he made the process so easy and was in constant communication with us weekly on the progress of our loan. He not only lied to me about costs, my personal information was not protected as it had been noticed from a call I received. He was charging me $3000 more then was legal or justifiable.
