Here are some of my thoughts: -It has the feel of an old school barber shop. -The staff were very friendly. -It's not fancy, doesn't have all the bells and whistles, nobody washed my hair before my cut : ) -But I got a solid haircut. -Cost for a men's cut is $25. I waited for 15 minutes and saw a couple of people walk out with great haircuts. Sadly I couldn't get one as I realized late that they don't accept cards. This place is very old school, they have 5,6 chairs, 2 hairstylists(one man and one woman and both looked very experienced), and they only accept cash or checks. They apologized and asked me to find an atm but as I was running out of time, I couldn't get a haircut. At $18 for a haircut, I think it's a great place. Classic shop with just some music going and easy conversation. Perry, Ellen, and Dave give excellent haircuts that rival trendy establishments at a fraction of the price. Fresh razor on the neck at the end... the best!They are a true bargain and could charge more. A few modern cosmetic updates and maybe ESPN or another sports channel (on mute for music, or live sound) would be welcomed. I love this place. And yes, get a liquor license! read more

We were in the neighborhood and took our boys in for haircuts--the staff was super friendly and we were very happy with the boys haircuts!

Immediate reaction: Awesome haircut. Neck shave was straight razor included. Reasonably priced. Barbers were friendly and kind as well as juxtaposition (see details of review ;) ) I love this place! As soon as I walked in I was greeted kindly and asked how I was doing. It was a Saturday with luckily minimal wait time. The first thing you notice is Perry and what I believe is his wife and how kind and sweet they are. The second thing you notice is the juxtaposition of Sophia compared to them with a modern haircut and some awesome tattoos. Truly represented a visual and harmonious juxtaposition but what was a constant here was the quality of the haircut and general interest in their customers and the clear presence of regulars that have been coming here for years, of which I will now become. If you like they have TVs to watch sports but it seems like this barbershop is where you come to have a nice conversation if you like but more importantly get a great haircut and it's done at a reasonable price (16 at the time of this review). what is really great is the attention to detail when it comes to your sideburns and hair frame (is that a thing?) what is the icing on the cake is the hot shave with a straight razor for the back of your neck which is included in that price. This place seems like a staple of Barrington as it was established in 1931. There's a reason that it's been here since 1931 and I think it is because of the people working there and relationships they make with their customers (without forcing you to chat if you don't want to) and consistency and quality. Great Small town Barber shop. Will give you a much better cut for the money than any of those chain shops. Staff are professional and polite. It is Cash only, which I was unaware of my first visit, so they let me go to an ATM to get some money. Love coming here and will be a regular until I move away from this area. read more

Very good quality barber style haircut for boys and dads. These guys are a big plus over the kids haircut places, very good attention to "over the ears" if you know what I mean. Dads, ask moms to take your boys here. Watch out for the wait though ... when the school kids come in it can get packed. They move pretty quickly, but they do good work so its not zippy speedy. read more

This is a very good old-style barber shop. They have sinks behind the chairs to wash hair, but I have never seen anyone use them, and I have been a customer for more than ten years. Three chairs, three barbers (two women and one man, last time), two tv's in the corners, a standard cut will cost you 16 bucks on the weekend. These barbers know their craft through many years of practice...this place is a keeper. read more

The real thing, i've always been seated right away and got a good cut for a good price. No frills but a nice, friendly neighborhood barbershop. A nice contrast to Barrington's typically overpriced and cutesy shops. read more
