Best damn barbershop around! Nick's a second generation barber (or more perhaps, I only know of his pop being one) and Brendan is my go to guy for all my hair and beard cutting and trimming respectively. A wonderful environment, great camaraderie amongst patrons and just the perfect classic barbershop. Bobby next door at Armanetti's is a hoot too and after a great cut, drop in to Bobby's for a bottle of wine, scotch or whatever suits your adult pallet. My former barber in Barrington passed away-many knew Phil from the Hometown Barbershop in Barrington, I'd just sit in the chair and Phil went to town knowing exactly what to do-no need to tell him what to do. Very great barbershop. Nick and the staff have been cutting my hair for years and I enjoy going there. The banter is fun. Since getting a third chair in the shop the waits are not as long. He runs an honest business. Lastly, I try to pay him in $2 bills. If you're reading this, please stop at a bank and get them $2 bills to pay with. I couldn't recommend them higher. read more

Meh - typical old school barbershop that knows how to cut your hair in flat tops and fades. The barbers can't handle any variation and whine little kids if you ask them to do anything that is 'cosmetology school' related. I'm thinking they are trained via locker rooms and friends. When I was in there, there was a fussy kid in there and they also were whining about they can't handle the noise and how he was moving around too much. Man up! Maybe because I have kids it doesn't bother me but geez they were whiny. read more

Nick has been great for my boys over the past couple years. They range in length too. All come back looking great. I used to go to Sorrentinos when I lived in Arlington Heights. And that team is amazing. But I haven't noticed a drop in quality since bringing my boys to Nick's. And this includes his teammate Brandon(?). We're not ones to sit and wait for a particular barber, but haven't noticed a problem yet. I made the mistake of going to Sportsclips once and if you're looking for a 3-star cut head there. For 5-stars, Nick's is where you want to be. read more

GREAT, GREAT barbershop. It's a "barbershop" and not your run of the mill Great Clips, Sports Cuts, etc. Nick is keeping alive a dying art form of being a real barber that was trained and knows how to cut all types of hair. Once you become a regular, he knows exactly what kind of haircut you want and all the trouble spots on your head. He now has two other barbers as well, so the wait is much shorter and they turn over customers quickly, but not rushing to give you a bad product. You will quickly become a regular here. After suffering through years of "meh" discount chain salon haircuts and the last straw of an especially unfortunate haircut at a chain hair salon in another nearby town a few months ago, I finally brought my teenage son to Nick's for a "real" haircut. I found my new neighborhood barber! I just moved back into the area and I've tried a few places out. They were all ok but all outrageously expensive for a haircut in the burbs. Nick's is a straightforward place to get a good haircut at a fair price. He did a great job on my parted fade! Honestly, I have no complaints. To make things better Nick is a really cool guy. His ability to care a conversation while providing excellent customer service is something out of a barbershop movie. Definitely give this place a shot. read more

These guys are so cool. Last week we stopped in to get both my husband and son a cut. I want to be up front, this is not a hair salon but a real barber shop. My son had long hair and lots of it and they clipped it and trimmed it so precisely. My son has a styled cut that requires product. The barber explained it to my son what to use and where to buy it as they do not carry the products. My husband was so happy to see they used a straight razor a hot lather. I think it's rather cool. I'm glad there are younger people taking pride in a trade and thriving in it. Needless to say, my guys are happy and will coming back. read more

Great place for a haircut (more for men and boys). Nick and Brandon like people, like sports and like cutting hair. They like to talk, which gives a very welcoming atmosphere. The hair is trimmed with attention to every detail. Neck is nicely shaved with warm foam lather and finished off with a well scented clubman after shave. Reminds me of the men's barbershops of old on television, with a Chicago sports theme. Try to go on non busy hours so there is no wait. These guys take their time to do it right. Sorry to give this nice guy a bad review and I never bother reviewing normally. But, Nick is very obviously not experienced enough to be a one man barber shop. He might be OK with straight shaves or VERY short hair cuts but don't bother if you need a real cut. He's very slow (lack of experience) and gave my kids the worst haircuts I have EVER seen. They were so horribly uneven and sloppy. I considered giving him a second chance since he went on and on about how uneven their previous person cut them. I thought, OK, let's see if he says it the next time about his own cut. Thinking it through, I won't bother because I don't have another 40 bucks to throw away. I hope his business can grow but without actual stylists there, he doesn't stand a chance. read more

Who is Tarek D? Apparently this person is the "whiny" one. It's not a children's hair cut place with toys and cartoons. Nor is it a salon where they give you a perm, etc. it's right in the sign and they do an outstanding job of it! They are a barbershop and a damn good one! I can't wait u too my son is old enough to sit still as I know what my child can and cannot handle. It's up to us parents to control our children, not release them on others like wild animals and expect them to "deal with it". read more
