The bouncy houses somewhat obscure your view of the children so it is hard to make sure that older kids are not being too rough with the young ones. The employees are not the friendliest and last time I was there I was chided by one for an incident that several people witnessed and it was not at all what the employees said it was. My daughter went down the slide and slammed her crotch on another kid's leg. She started to cry and the employee said she had been crying awhile when I thanked her for getting my daughter out, as she was 4 feet closer to the bounce house than I was. Often my daughter does not seek "rescue" when she gets hurt anyways. I usually see if she wants to come to me or not. My friend's daughter was with my daughter when it happened and we all could see that she had not been "crying for quite awhile". We were standing around the corner from the employee and out of sight to her, but we were watching the whole time. I found it pretty rude. It is an okay place to let kids blow off steam, but I like the overall set up at Twice the Fun in Dover better and the staff are more friendly. By the way, if they truly thought I was in violation of their rules or was not watching my daughter, they should have said it in a more professional manner instead of a snide remark. I think it was unprofessional.

I have had to call there four or five times and still have only received half of what is owed back to me. Often times the staff has to take a message and they say they will be sure to pass it along but you may want to call back the owner your self-seems like they know she is not going to follow through with any type of refund unless you hound her. I have spoken to the owner 3 times and have left voice mails. Each time she says she will take care of it right away and then doesn't. Frustrating! It is also nerve racking with my two and three year old because many parents of the older kids do not pay attention to what they are doing and how rough they are being around the younger ones. My son loves the loop with the cars but my daughter has been taken out while trying to cross it. They need to figure out a way to make it more safe. Both kids do have fun but is stressful as a parent to go there when there are a lot of checked out parents of older kids. I would have given it a three if it was not for my on-going refund issue.

The price is a bit excessive but I'm thankful my work supplements the membership cost. I love how easy the gym is to access and the hours work with my schedule. Having just moved from Hawaii though, I do wish they would turn the temperature up in the weight room. The ladies room is nice and warm, but it's hard to work up a sweat when the weight room is so chilly.

Note: I was asking to accompany my wife in the lap lane while she exercises. She needs a little help. Doug lied about if the manager was there who could make a decision. Doug did not listen when we called prior to coming in nor did the staff communicate with each other. Doug was ill prepared for our appointment and wasted our time. I left angry, insulted, and dissatisfied. Seems completely wrong for a gym connected with a hospital. The Works sales staff should be ashamed and Doug needs a new job. Maybe doing lawn maintenance at a graveyard. There, his lack of listening skills would not be noticed.

We revisited Vaughan Woods at a different time of the year, and it's still such a cool spot (though…read morefar busier than it was when we came in autumn a few years ago). It's a state park that's open year long -- during the shoulder season, you can park outside the closed gates and walk in. This time we came when the gates were open; but, there was no attendant to check our state parks pass. It looks like payment is on the honor system (please pay so we can preserve beautiful trails like this!). I'll reiterate what I said in my previous review: It's located along Salmon Falls River (which separates Maine and New Hampshire). And with 3+ miles of hiking trails, it's easy to choose-your-own-adventure. So, whether you're looking to walk a lot or little, spend the day here or just a quick half hour, or if you're a local looking for a new running trail, be sure to explore the "old growth forest" (I saw this used elsewhere and looked into it: did you know this is a term that essentially means it's an ancient woodland, or a natural place that has aged without disruption?)! And it's accessible too: the extremely well groomed, well marked, mostly widened walking paths are easy to navigate (there are some hilly areas; and if it's not winter you're DEFINITELY going to want to bring bug spray). Also, from here you can access the grounds of the restored Hamilton House (built by merchant Jonathan Hamilton in the late eighteenth century) which sits on a stunning grassy knoll among cleared open green space overlooking the river (we actually saw a beaver this most recent time!) on one side and a beautifully maintained garden on the other side.

Want some peace & quiet instead of screaming tots and squeaky playground swings? I did. Not that there's anything wrong with the typical midsummer Maine beach experience. It just was NOT my vibe for this getaway. And so we sought out land trusts and mountains and parks, including one of our favorite spots to hit some pretty trails: Vaughan Woods. First, even in the middle of the summer and several cars in the lots, we barely saw another person. On the river trail--which I particularly love for all the scenic views of the river and benches to sit and rest--we had two couples cross our path. Very quick, smiley "hellos" and off they went. So peaceful! I'm mobility-challenged but I had a recent treatment and felt a little more mobile and stable. I took my time and my husband was a great helper. I'd say the river trail can get a bit challenging for anyone with a knee/ankle/foot/balance issue. But if conditions aren't wet, you go slow, and rest at the benches, you might be able to do it! The toilet stall is a wooden structure that is open to the air at the top of the walls before the roof begins. It's a toilet set over a pit, and you could definitely get a wheelchair in, but I don't recall seeing any grab bars. There was plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Like other places (parks, beach), we noticed it was "carry in, carry out." There are several picnic tables surrounding the parking lot, and we enjoyed a post-hike snack. This place is worth the drive out to South Berwick. Give it a go!

You would not buy shoes before you see what they look like or if they fit. We're in our 40s with a clean appearance driving a brand new truck and just looking to take a quick walk around to see if we would like the campground before we made the decision where we would like to have our seasonal.
