During a time when I was looking for work, I signed up with some temp agencies, and Barrington was one of them. A relative of mine had some luck with them and had some good things to say about them, so I signed up. Same process as other temp agencies: fill out form, interview, do some testing of some basic office skills, like typing, etc. Easy enough. After about 4-6 weeks of diligently calling every Monday morning, I was slowly but surely growing frustrated. I called to speak with the woman who interviewed me sharing I was concerned about not having any response from Barrington and was taken aback when she began to share she was having a bad day and didn't have time to talk to me. Seriously? How absolutely unprofessional. Well, guess what Barrington? If temp agencies happen to come up in conversations, I don't mention you; and if you are mentioned, I just say "There are better, more professional agencies out there," and share my experience. Your agency provides a service. Your customers are also the people who come to you looking for another avenue of job searching and not just the companies who are looking to fill short-term gigs. When you have employees who are having a "bad day" and say they don't have time for the temps your company has signed up, then get rid of those employees. They only hurt your business. I've reached out to several staffing agencies before Barrington, some ok, some bad, some with no results. The results from contact Barrington ended up as my future career. Mayra has been helpful from the moment i stepped in. She made me feel comfortable and stress free during my interview and testing process. The payroll reps are also very helpful doing everything in their power to make my direct deposit go thru with an old check that my bank had since their updated their name and it seems to be an issue but Barrington made it work. Mayra and the other office staff have been extremely helpful and professional with any questions i had regarding my time sheet and quickly responded every time i had an inquiry. There is only one thing that could be improved. An online time card system versus mailing every week. However, after the first couple of weeks, i got used to it. Thank you! Barrington isnt your typical agency, they only reach out if you meet the background they seek for the jobs they have. They will not test you on 100 things they only test you on whats needed for the job you are applying for so after a quick typing word and excel i was on my way. Mayra and Janet were friendly and explained everything from paperwork to timecards. I wish they had an app for the timecards as of now you have to mail it in which is a bit too old school for me but so far i havent had any issues with mine. As far as staffing agencies goes, Barrington Staffing is great. I visited the Burbank location to fill out an application for a position posted on Craigslist. The position was in Santa Monica, and though they mostly have jobs posted in the 818/Burbank/Valley area, they occasionally have a need from Westside employers. I spoke with Gaby on the phone, but had my interview with Janet. Janet is super sweet, and KIND! I couldn't believe how nice she was. They were having a very busy day, and she treated me professionally, but also humanely. Which is saying alot, especially for a business like this when people are in and out every half hour. I didn't get the job I applied for, but true to her word, Janet contacted me to let me know. I'm hoping to be able to work with them in the future. It should be clear that this company is not like Apple One or any "head hunting" business as they say. They interview people and submit candidates to local companies. I submitted my resume was called in for an interview. It was pretty normal. Computer assessment and a sit down. The biggest positive for this company is that they are honest in that they will not communicate with you, it is up to you to update with them. The downer is that there is no guarantee if you will be accepted for a position, so you wait and wait and wait. I ended up getting a full time position with a company on my own. Submitted my resume online. About a week later Janet called me for an interview, filled out paperwork, took a few tests. I Went in about 2 days later she was very accommodating considering that I was employed at a different location and let me come in early so I can head back to work afterwards. About a week later she reached out to set up an interview with myself and the employer. I went in and met with the VP of the company. I was offered the job and they allowed me to give 2 weeks notice. Now I am currently working in a position I am very happy with a good credible company. I had never obtained a job through a staffing agency; but I am extremely greatful for Janet, Mayra and the rest of the staff with all their help for the wonderful job opportunity I have been given. This place is a JOKE! They can't get their act together to save their life! Apparently, a job was very interested in me, which was great news! This employer wanted to do a "second" interview. However, they wanted my references....alright, no problem. Barrington FAILED to inform me that they were having a hard time getting my references. Almost TWO WEEKS had PAST when the employer called for the second interview and for the references! If Barrington had called me the first day that they had an issue with getting my references, I would of been able to get Barrington any reference they wanted! I had letters from employers, recommendations from clients, and I could of personally called past employers to get the ball rolling to have them fax, or call Barrington! But because Barrington just sat on it, and was not proactive, and did not go the extra mile, of informing me of the problem...They COST ME THE JOB because of their LACK OF STAYING ON TOP OF THINGS!!! Then to make matters worse, they placed with a crappy temp job with a crazy, bipolar boss(after losing the job, I really wanted) every week, I would call to get a status of how the employer thought I was doing, etc., finally on the eve of my 3rd month (end of my probation period) I overhear my employer talking to Barrington (I couldn't hear word for word..but I heard "Janet" and "Barrington" so I knew they spoke) so an hour later in the morning...I called Janet at Barrington to ask for feedback....and she completely LIED to me on the phone....telling me she never SPOKE to the employer! Well come 5:25pm (I'm already driving home from work) Janet calls to inform me she has bad news...that the "assignment" has been cancelled! Now, I'm pretty sure SHE KNEW OF THIS "CANCELLATION" IN THE MORNING WHEN I CALLED! She could of told me then....instead of having me work the entire day...when I could of spent my time on better things, like pounding the pavement...looking for a NEW JOB!! STAY AWAY....THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE EMPLOYEE.... ONLY THE CLIENT!!! They will not back you, they will not have your best interest at heart, they only care about the bottom dollar, because you are their meal ticket. Plus the way do business is very old fashioned....everything is done by snail-mail...timecards MUST be mailed, paychecks are mailed, EVERYTHING is done by the mail.
