I used Elite placement after months of not finding a good job that I'd be able to find stability and would be happy for long term work. They matched me with a few openings but recommended the company I now have been working for about five years. Everyone was so responsive and great at communicating with me and they even helped sharpen up my resume and gave me real intros to the companies I was interviewing with. I started the initial stages of my job search with a lot of enthusiasm and with a list of qualifications that I was determined to find in my next job. I must have submitted my resume into a dozen job agency ads/websites, various online portals (Monster, Ziprecruiter, LinkedInetc) and spoke with many representatives while visiting their offices. Over time, the search became repetitive and discouraging, as it stretched longer than anticipated and I was getting the same dead-end responses from recruiters. After reading reviews and of course having my own experiences with local recruitment agencies I chose to contact Elite Placement Group, it was a game changer! I phoned and spoke with a gentleman at Elite today regarding our hiring needs, he was upfront about how he could help and where he could not, he then offered referrals for the position/category he could not assist us with. Surely this is not the usual service any of us receive when calling a busy company requesting assistance with something they can't help with, right? It hasn't been the norm in my lifetime anyway, pleasantly surprised and awaiting the hook a.k.a the sales pitch, well the hook never happened, he was truly just being helpful, honestly, it threw me! After reading the positive reviews on Yelp I sent my resume in a while ago. When I called to follow up, they said they'd get back to me. They never did so...*until* I posted about my experience with them on line, at which point I got a snotty voice mail from a guy there asking what I wanted. Uh, gee, I just wanted to chat about the weather, what do you think I wanted? But I was professional, returned the person's call...and, of course, got shifted to his VM. Left a polite message. Any guesses as to whether he called back? If they didn't have any positions that fit my qualifications, it would have taken them about ten seconds to tell me that, and save both of us time. As it is, my experience with them was so unprofessional that I would never recommend that my current employer (got a job without their help, thank God) use them for any reason. read more

The reviews here are bipolar, but I'll share mine anyways. I'm not quite sure how this place works. I emailed them my résumé multiple times and never heard a word back. I called and the lady said she would forward it directly to a recruiter. I heard nothing. Then I called again and stressed that I had previous administrative experience and I was free to come in and meet with someone to discuss things. She said that would not be necessary and that someone would call if they found something that met their needs. Well... okay. Can't you at least meet me before you reject me? This tells me that they don't really screen people before they assign them. For all they know, I could be the most socially awkward lazy turd in the world, and they wouldn't have a clue because they've never actually seen me or talked with me (receptionist aside). And apparently they ask all the people they are able to place to write them positive yelp reviews (hence all the stars). I was never able to go in and meet with a recruiter. Maybe I wasn't the right fit. Who knows? They just seemed very self-serving to me. And it didn't seem like anyone there wanted to be bothered so the customer service wasn't exactly great either. Send them your résumé... It's worth a shot. But make sure you sign up with other temp agencies and look actively on your own as well. I was eventually able to find a position on my own. Contacted this agency about staffing opportunities based on its high ratings. Called and was advised to simply send my resume and await contact from a placement agent, which would be about 3-4 days after receipt. After two weeks, I called to ask the status and was informed that my resume had been received and that John was managing my recruitment. The receptionist went on to say that if I hadn't heard from him, it meant that he had not matched my resume with any openings. After another week, I called again. This time I was told that they couldn't find my resume. What?! Are you serious?? Desperate for placement, I resubmitted my resume and immediately followed up with a call. This time I was told that Elite is a "administrative and clerical" placement agency, and that they would not be able to place me based on my skills and qualifications. Of course, I bear some responsibility for not asking about the agency's placement requirements during my initial call. But I also think that it would be reasonable to assume that someone would contact me right away to say they couldn't help after getting my resume. read more

I had to give a shout out to Nathan Van Dyke for helping land my first job as a Los Angeles resident! I moved to LA a few months ago and was surprised at how difficult it was to get work in the entertainment field. I understand everyone moves here for entertainment work but I had a decent resume with five years of entertainment experience in NYC so I thought it would be a little easier. After months of searching, I was at the point where I needed work immediately and my last resort was to try and reach out to temp agencies. I was skeptical about temp agencies as I had no familiarity with them and figured the likelihood of them helping me was minimal. I didn't have much success when I first reached out but was persistent and continued to follow up. It took a few weeks but I received a call from Nathan saying that he didn't have anything at the moment but he would forward my resume. Anyone in this business knows that "I'll forward your resume" is rarely something to get excited about, so I didn't and figured this agency was a dead end. Then, to my surprise, a couple weeks later I received a call from the HR department at a major entertainment network saying that Nathan had forwarded my resume to them. I had an interview and am now working there on a temp assignment! I'm incredibly grateful to Nathan for forwarding my resume and helping get my life started here in LA. I first submitted my resume to the generic email address on their website, and within hours I receive a call from Nathan himself, introducing his services and what the search group specializes in. You first meet the team in person, fill out the typical HR paper work, in their gorgeous BH office, be aware they don't provide validation, but I was smart because I was coming from work in DTLA and decided to Uber my way in. Nathan and John are positive and passionate, and they will do anything to help you find a job, if you are a good fit for them. My experience with Elite Placement started many years ago, but I am inclined to write now for a couple reasons. One, I've been at my job where they placed me almost five years (three months of temp to hire, and then hired on permanently) and secondly - my boyfriend is now using Elite and is just as happy with them. Before I was hired at my current position, Nathan had me working all over the city trying to find the right fit, and keeping me employed when I needed it most. I will say that when I was job-hunting, it was a much different economy. Nothing had yet collapsed, and everyone was rich and happy. That made for some great opportunities for me, and I was able to choose what would fit me best. After making it through a terrible market crash, I am still at my job, and though it gets under my skin from time to time (what job doesn't) it still was and is the best place for me. Nathan did a wonderful job matching me up with what I wanted, and who I wanted to work for. While I was temping with them, I was always paid on time, and my questions were answered promptly and with a smile. When going on interviews, they helped with my resume and coaching me through that process. When it was time to talk salary at my job, they were there for support and guidance, which is always nice during a tricky time like that. I know now that the job market is a much different place, but I highly recommend using Elite to look for a job, or for candidates. Again, I've been at my job for almost five years, and I know my boss and I are the perfect match. If you need to find someone - Elite will help you get the perfect person in place. I had a really great experience with Elite. My direct contact is no longer with them, but I also indirectly worked with Jessica, who is fantastic. From my first meeting with them, I went on several interviews and landed a job with a great company about 3 weeks into the process. The thing I like most about Elite is that they are small enough that each of the recruiters are familiar with your resume and what you are looking for so that you basically have a team of people to work with instead of just one person - it definitely broadens the scope of opportunities. Although they are small, they definitely are as professional and successful as any of the larger firms and have built a good base of large, repeat clients to which they always send candidates for open positions. I personally always think it helps when the agencies have relationships with the companies they send clients to. Companies are more likely to select candidates to meet with from an agency they trust over agencies they don't work with on a regular basis. Cyndi at Elite is AMAZING!!!! First and foremost, I was contacted by CareerGroup and Elite Placement, regarding a resume I posted on Monster. The superiority of Elite Placement compared to CareerGroup absolutely blew me out of the water. From the moment I walked in to their office I was treated AS A PERSON, not as someone to bank off of. The receptionist was extremely friendly. I waited a few minutes and Cyndi came out and introduced herself. I feel like we hit it off immediately. She asked important questions though, so be prepared! For instance I had a gap in my employment I needed to explain. She was meticulous in her questioning, and I did have to complete a Microsoft Word test. It was clear Cyndi was professional and looking for truly compatible matches. It was also clear she views her candidates as a reflection of herself and her business. This was probably the most unprofessional staffing agencies I have ever dealt with. The ironic part is that I chose to go with Elite Placement Group based off the positive Yelp reviews yet here I am making a negative one about them. I submitted my resume online and on the same day, I received an email from a partner of the company named John. He asked me what days and times would I be available for a phone interview. I emailed him back that same day with days and times. A whole week goes by and he finally responds back to me saying that he has been out of the office and asked was I still looking for work. I was understanding , despite his delayed reply. I emailed him back stating that I was still looking. THREE DAYS LATER, he emails me back asking what's my availability for a phone interview. ONCE AGAIN, I emailed him my updated availability. The following day, I get an email from a woman named Krystle. She informs me that she will be reaching out on behalf of John. She confirmed me with a date and time for a phone interview and sent me an email confirmation. My call was scheduled for 2/28 at 2pm. When it was time for my interview, I NEVER got a call at my scheduled time. They never reached out to me and apologized for standing me up or even giving me a heads up about re-scheduling. Both John and Krystle are unprofessional and I will never want to look for employment through Elite Placement Group ever again. How do you pride yourself on being a "successful" agency but this is how you do potential candidates. What a waste of my time and energy. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I really can't say enough good things about Elite Placement Group! When I moved to LA last July (during a time of high unemployment) I signed up with over 17 temp agencies. Every single one (except for Elite) acted like they could care less about me. They treated me like I was just another number to them, and not a person. They asked me to call in every week I was looking for work, and would say, "Great, we put you down on the list as available," and then I would never hear anything from them. When I would rarely get interviews they wouldn't return my calls telling me whether or not I had been placed in employment. Everything changed when I started with Elite! Cyndi and Nathan act like they actually care about me, and have gotten me several great, and well-paying jobs! When I was getting married, and they were able to negotiate the time off from work. They correct paycheck errors in a courteous manner. They recently found that I hadn't been paid overtime from two weeks ago, and they contacted ME about it. No other agency will look out for your best interests more than Elite does! Other temp agencies will refuse to look for better jobs for you while you are on assignment with them. They don't want to pull you away from their own clients. However, Elite has come to me with several permanent job offers WHILE I was temping with them! I think they are the only temp agency in town that actually looks for better jobs for you while you are still employed with them. I'm conflicted seeing both 5 star and 1 star reviews on here. I had sent an email to Elite and got a response shortly after to come in for an in-person interview. I felt like the interview itself went really well and that my recruiter was confident that she could place me in a job. She said, "we have a ton of things right now that I think you'd be perfect for". She also said she'd email me a few jobs that same day to see what I think of them. I left the office feeling excited and kept checking my email, but never heard from her. I wrote them to check up, but again, no response. I normally wouldn't do temp work, however Krystle encouraged me to be open to it. Even though I wanted a full time position I trusted Krystle and took her advice. The position was only supposed to be for 2 weeks, however 2 weeks turned into 3 weeks. 3 weeks turned into 6 weeks and miraculously the position I was temping for became available! I had to call in for a follow up in which they finally e-mailed me back a few weeks later. I've sent in my resume multiple times. E-mailed John multiple times with limited responses, and even called for an initial informational meeting. Their response is horrible. Communication is key, and if they did not find my resume qualified I would have appreciated at least a response in telling me so. Wish I didn't bother wasting so much time trying to contact them. read more
