a hand holding a piece of quesadilla over a bowl of soup

Looking for birria tacos or birriadillas? Barrios has got you! The food is a solid 5-star awesomeness for me and it is the service that knocked a star off. No one answers the phone so even for carryout, we had to go there to order....which kinda defeats the "call ahead and have food ready" convenience of takeout. To add insult to injury, they tack on a takeout fee. Doh! Once ordered (on a Tuesday), we waited 45 minutes for our food. Some of it was sitting the majority of the time and was cold while the rest was fresh and hot. Now for the good stuff. My carnitas birriadilla (a birria taco with cheese, pressed like a quesadilla). It's not on the menu but they can make both this or birria tacos. Holy Moly!! SO good, y'all. Soaking the tortilla in the dipping sauce prior to frying it up made it so dang flavorful. My husband really enjoyed his loaded/smothered burrito, too. We split street corn and the blacked mahi mahi taco (asked for fried but got blackened) and both were good. Our main dishes were the stars, though. The queso and chips were pretty solid, too. The queso had a good consistency, not runny nor easily congealed and a slight jalapeño kick. Can't wait to come back to this place! What a good find.

First timer and loved this restaurant, fresh and homemade Mexican food. The tamales were super delicious. The family owned environment were warm and welcoming. Definitely loved the decor of the restaurant. I wouldn't necessarily recommend for large groups, it's more of a family size tables.

The food was OK. I got guacamole which had no lime or salt in it. I had to ask the lady twice to bring over some lime & salt so I could make it less bland. I also had to keep asking for water as they only had one waitress for the restaurant at the time. The reason I give this three stars is that although their chicken taco are well seasoned. I received a burnt fish taco. When I told the lady it was burnt she took my plate and started digging through the taco right in front of me. I was very turned off by that. Shortly after a woman came to our table from the back... I think she was the chef or maybe the owner. She asked me if there was anything else that I wanted... but I really just didn't like their food that much so there was really nothing else that I wanted. My friend who ordered the chimichanga also was not impressed and didn't finish it or take it to go for leftovers. One recommendation that I would have is to add an option on the menu of just chicken, rice, and beans (not a taco or associated with a tortilla). Best of luck

The Tacos are okay. I was a bit disappointed. I ordered 3 tacos al pastor/shrimp/barbacoa. The barbacoa was the best of the 3. The shrimp taco was mostly breading and the al pastor was much too charred for me. The music was loud. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back but I'd make different choices.

They do offer outdoor seating, which is nice, although I'm not sure yet if it's dog-friendly--something I'll have to check out next time. We usually sit at the bar, and one thing I've learned is that you need to be very specific with your drink order if you have preferences. For example, if you order a dirty martini without clarification, be prepared for a glass that tastes almost entirely like olive brine. Asking for "light" on the olive juice is a must. Even a standard vodka martini doesn't automatically come with a lemon twist, which feels like a small but noticeable miss. Service has consistently been solid--friendly and attentive, about what you'd expect. The food, however, has been hit or miss. I tried the FGTs twice, hoping the first experience was just an off night, but they still weren't memorable enough to order again. The steak tips appetizer has been the one standout for us--really flavorful--but if you're planning on ordering a steak entrée, doubling up on steak feels a bit redundant. The salads that come with the meals are reliably good, and the steaks themselves are decent, especially with the loaded baked potato on the side. That said, I ordered a fish dish on one visit that was forgettable enough that I can't even recall exactly what it was--just that I wouldn't order it again. Overall, Aubrey's is perfectly fine, but it hasn't wowed me. At this price point, I think there are better options around town. We might stop back in from time to time if we're in the mood for something different.

The dark, glamorous aesthetic is stunning--perfect for date night or for impressing out-of-town guests. I loved the gold accents, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting. Everything worked together beautifully. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the mixologists work their magic. They were incredibly helpful in guiding us toward drinks that matched our preferences. I absolutely loved my cocktail--even if I can't recall the name--because it delivered the spicy kick they promised. We also ordered several shareable plates, all of which were delicious. We tried the Carnitas Tamales (shredded pork, ancho mole, fresh corn, masa, cilantro, yuzu arbequina oil), the Vegetable Empanadas (house-made pastry, wilted kale, roasted sweet potato, Oaxaca and cotija cheese, black bean purée, and adobo & chile-lime aioli), and a salad. I'd happily order any of them again. I did find myself wishing for a bit more heat, but I've learned that's hard to come by in Tennessee. At least the staff gave us a heads-up that the spice level is toned down. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. The vibe is fantastic--and while they have a nice outdoor space, the interior is so eye-catching I'm not sure I'd want to sit anywhere else.

Nothing to complain about except some of the items were cold - there was one person serving the entire bar and restaurant and obviously had some timing issues. Also some attitude: after delivering cocktails to my wife and me he forgot her mom's - after I reminded him he said "oh I know" and then proceeded to serve four other patrons' order at the bar and then another two top's before even starting hers. It finally arrived after the cold mushrooms were delivered. I'm chalking this up to a short staffed situation and a specific individual, so if you live nearby or are traveling through looking for a nice spot for dinner or lunch I would definitely recommend. We were greeted and seated promptly in a lovely little alcove near their patio, the perfect spot for old friends catching up. Deee-licious! We then moved on to our entrees: Filet mignon (prepared Medium) w/caramelized onions & garlic mashed potatoes. The filets were seasoned and cooked perfectly - melt in your mouth, oh soooo good! Prime rib steak sandwich with caramelized onions & melt cheese. Opted for a side of grilled zucchini instead of fries. Also a big hit with our friend. I chose the night's feature dish of halibut and couscous. Nicely prepared and delicious. Though we didn't have room for dessert, once Olivia brought the dessert tray by, we quickly made room! My husband chose the Blueberry Bread Pudding. Of course I had to taste! I'm typically am not a fan of bread puddings due to being heavy and somewhat gummy! This one was absolutely light, and yummy allowing the blueberries to shine. Our friends shared the NY cheesecake with fresh strawberries. Also, light, fluffy and delicious! I chose the key lime pie with toasted coconut sprinkled on top. Incredibly good with light tartness though I prefer more tart. Still, it ranks up there as one of the best I've found. Tonight, the meat was sparse, dry (yet fatty), and bones were left in. There was undercooked rice and underseasoned beans (which are usually amazing). Probably the worst part of the meal? The guacamole had literally no avocado in it. They instead chopped tomato, cilantro, and onion and tried to pass it off as guacamole. My husband was also missing avocado that was supposed to come with his meal, so they must have been out. If so, we would have loved a phone call to let us choose an alternative or give a discount, given that guac was a main part of my meal. My husband ordered the beef rib plate and said it was perhaps the worst meal he's had all year. It was served with tortillas but the meat was so incredibly chewy and inedible, served as a long strip with bones intact. He felt the same as me about the rice and beans. We DID like the cojita cheese with the beans, the homemade tortillas, and the tortilla chips with salsa verde. We normally love the queso with its tasty, somewhat runny consistency, but today, it was congealed with a hard film covering the top. We microwaved it thinking it would help, but it was still so chunky that we couldn't dribble it over our meals. It got tossed. Because of previously amazing experiences, we will try it again (and hopefully update review) but if it is the same lacking quality, we will probably find a new spot.
