I had Barron install a new 96% efficient furnace and AC system. There were some positives to the experience, but there were also several details that left me disappointed, especially considering the cost of a full HVAC installation. The installation team reconnected vents to the master and guest bedrooms and repaired a crushed return line, which I appreciated. However, I noticed the repaired return had multiple unsealed screw holes. While I can seal the visible holes myself with silicone, I have no way of knowing if there are additional leaks on top of the ductwork that I cannot see. More importantly, sealing those penetrations should have been completed as part of the installation. They actually sealed the seams where the old meets the repair. Prior to the installation, we discussed running the refrigerant lines adjacent to the existing HVAC chase. Instead, the lines were run on the opposite side of the hallway and continue through the middle of the laundry room. It's not the end of the world, and the system still functions, but it creates a much bigger challenge to conceal the lines and significantly lowers the ceiling in that area. I was also instructed to pour a concrete pad with minimum dimensions of 18" x 36", so I went above and beyond and poured a 24" x 40" pad to provide extra room. During installation, I was told the actual required dimensions were 36" x 36", which resulted in the installer placing a foam pad over the concrete pad. This could have been avoided with more accurate communication upfront. To bring the new system up to code, two vents needed to penetrate my single-membrane roof. Prior to performing the roof penetrations, Barron informed me that they were not qualified to seal the penetrations. While I appreciate the transparency, this information came only after I had already paid a 50% deposit and committed to the project. This left me responsible for finding and hiring another contractor to complete a very small roofing job. Finding someone willing to take on such a minor project has been frustrating, and two weeks later I am still waiting for the penetrations to be properly sealed. I understand that HVAC contractors may not perform specialized roofing work, but this should have been identified during the estimating process so the project could have been properly planned and coordinated before I committed to the installation. Overall, the equipment appears to be good, and there were aspects of the installation that were done well. However, the lack of communication, attention to detail, and coordination between trades turned what should have been a straightforward HVAC replacement into a frustrating experience. read more

When she asked for an estimate, she was told that they cannot do knob-and-tube wiring replacement and to contact an electrical contractor. I would think that an electrical company would be an electrical contractor. Anyway, we will never contact them for ANY electrical work. read more

Barron Heating recently designed and installed a two-zone heating and cooling heat pump system for my home. I wanted two zones as I have a one-bedroom guest apartment above the garage and the heating and cooling needs vary. Everyone I interacted with at Barron was responsive, knowledgeable and exuded competence. Barron has extensive experience with Daikin heat pumps and I wanted that brand based on past good experience. I now have a state-of-the art two zone system that is working flawlessly. My monthly heating costs have dropped from almost $500 a month for propane in the winter to less than $100 per month! I had a maintenance issue about a month after install. When I called Barron, they were able to send out a technician the same day and within a week workers arrive to resolve the issue. While Barron wasn't the lowest bid, their bid was competitive and they have the most experience, responsive customer service and they stand behind their work. I highly recommend them and I am pleased with my new system. The service is slow even when it is urgent. We have had no heat in our house twice now and the response time to even return the call was 2 hours. Last time they did not even come out until the next day. There is also no one other than the technician to speak with. The answering service just says they can not respond any quicker. If they are really recording every call like the message says the manager needs to review those calls. The answering service spoke with the technician but they did not even have time to speak with me at all. Worse choice we ever made choosing Barron for our heating and cooling. I have had an ongoing ignition problem for my gas stove over the last two years. I have had two different companies out and the problem was persistent, as the technicians were baffled as to what might be the cause. I decided to call Barron, and get a jump on the season. I expected to be several weeks out as with previous companies scheduling. I was surprised to be scheduled just two days from calling. Richie came out and was prompt and highly skilled. He meticulously inspected each component, and decided that much of the wiring had higer than expected resistance. After feplacing the wiring and moving some that were installed incorrectly by other installers, my stove works like a charm. We are ready ror fall! Tristan explained my house size, type of furnace, duct work capacity, airflow by increasing the size of the existing airflow return. He wrote in great technical detail to my daughter in New Jersey, who was checking all my information. We were very impressed by the obvious science, once explained. An in depth home visit followed. a super sweet gentleman whose card I have mislaid. Great care was taken, to note everything required to help the smooth installation. on Cole M and Lupe C came to install today. Arrival time was as stated. They worked all day cheerfully without a break. It was a quite a complicated installation, and resolved all issues as they came up. Two other technicians called by as part the team. These are top notch team players, and I would not hesitate to recommend this company for its integrity and professional performance. They cleaned up beautifully before they left. It was a long and tiring day. I am most grateful to have found this company. In addition their bid, which never changed, beat all the competition, and the reason behind it was they were able to give me what I needed, and not sell me something more expensive, that would probably not work as well with my existing smaller return ducts. read more

Update: the manager called today. Replacement is scheduled for next week. He informs me that the reason one unit failed after 32 days is that they installed three 220 V units and one 115 V unit on the same system. Somehow, the fact that one entire head unit had the wrong voltage, wrong number of wires, etc., escaped two trained technicians and a state electrical inspector. Somehow, this unit lasted a month attached to a 220 V circuit. We're lucky we didn't have an electrical fire. For what it's worth, their manager was very nice and very honest, but ... my God. That mistake could have cost us our house! (edit) My mistake. The manager lied. He claimed no way to tell 115 V from 230 V units. Well, my dude, as it turns out, there is an UNMISTAKEABLE SILVER STICKER ON THE SIDE where the voltage is printed. read more

He suggested an additional cold air return and was incredibly patient with me as we figured out where the best place to put it was. I was so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. Today Cole and Lupe did an outstanding job installing the cold air return. They were very professional and considerate. They went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with their work. We were told that the part for our pellet stove was at the warehouse paid for 50% of the work order. Three weeks was the earliest that they could get out to Sumas for service. Day came and went, no call from them, called them got the " your call is important to us...." 20 minutes later left message for a call back. No call back, this time I waited for service to answer, was told the part hadn't been received and December 15th was the next time they could have it, "if not delayed" 100% satisfaction guaranteed my a##. read more

I have used Barron for years. They have installed splits at both my home and our rental house. They have also performed complicated plumbing services, replaced our water heater, and installed a generator for the entire house. They are totally professional and efficient and always follow up. They may be a little more expensive but they pull permits when necessary and cheerfully answer all, even stupid questions. I highly recommend them. read more

The estimate was for $2237.02 I ordered the parts and installed them myself for $471.37 a saving of $1765.65. I can see if they charge $700 $800 but to have the audacity to blatantly rip people off is just wrong. read more

I got five bids for a new air conditioning unit, and Wes (who came to our home to do the estimate) gave the most thorough and knowledgeable estimate of all of them. He told us we needed a second air intake but was clear where NOT to put it (others either didn't mention it or told me to put it in weird places like a bedroom), and added a much needed second air duct in the living room (no one else offered this). They also fixed a mistake made by the builder at no extra charge. And the price was very competitive with the others, even better than some that didn't offer as much. Waited a long time for installation, but it went well and was done in one morning. Several people told me not to use Barron. Why?? I'm very happy and have nothing to complain about! read more

They'll charge over $500 for a part that costs $123.00 worse example, They charged $219.00 on a part that I could have bought from the manufacturer for $48.00! They "fix" your heating systems so they'll break down in 2 years! That way, you'll have to call them back to "fix" (their repairs) and tell you that the previous tech put " the wrong part ?!) So they have to tear out ALL of their previous work, and they'll charge you 350% over the cost of the part?! They have techs that are very arrogant that don't care! Be sure and get a written ESTIMATE AND QUOTE that lists the prices on the parts needed! That way you'll be have time to double check the prices on the parts they say you need! Otherwise when you ask for a Copy of their estimate, they'll send you one that only shows the parts, but not how much the part cost! And if you ask the Tech how much their repairs cost, if they think they know how deep your pockets are, the comment I got was, " What do I care about how much the repairs cost because "IM A TRUST FUND BABY!?" That rude, Unacceptable, Unprofessional comment made to my face left a reflection of the company and the tech, BH would be the last company id call when their repairs fail, because the repairs they charge you for wont last! Or when they come to your house to repair your heating system AGAIN, then they'll tell you that the previous work done , was all wrong, so they needed to pull everything off, and start over!?! If only there were a negative star rating I could give. I feel completely ripped off. We have been customers of Barron since the late nineties, gas fireplace, plumbing issues, two Daikin split units, another fireplace. Our remote app for our Daikin unit quit working two years after we purchased the Daikin at approximately $6500. Due to Covid Barron wasn't making house calls, so it got put off. I thought I would schedule a maintenance with the intent on having the remote capability fixed. When I scheduled the appointment, I expressed several times the main reason I was doing this was to get the remote capability fixed, and to NOT SEND a technician that could not accomplish this, knowing that the $300 (per unit) basically consisted of taking off the cover and dusting it. When the technician arrived I asked him about the remote, he said he didn't know much about it. He then informed me that both split units were uneven and it would be $1500 per unit to make even. When I informed him that it was Barron that installed them, he called his boss who said it must be due to condensation dripping around the units, but had no explanation why both units on opposite sides of the house would be uneven, of course taking no responsibility. Back to getting the remote app function working, the tech called Daikin, then sat in his truck for 3 hours waiting for them to call back, he then came back into the house and tried getting the app to connect, no success, but for the price of $600 he could order another adapter, the original adapter was $125. With Barron it is all about the money grab add-on. I had another bad experience with them last summer over a plumbing issue, again paying an exorbitant price without getting an issue resolved, also showing up without the equipment needed.This is the first time I have ever bothered to write a review about any purchase or service. This one is just too hard to swallow. I truly hope Barron contacts me and makes this right. They have my address, email, and phone number. read more

Out of the many vendors we hire to do work on our buildings he has been the most knowledgeable and attentive to the work and figured out the issues without giving up and telling us to buy new. Here is the text of my original review (which was posted on 8/30/22): Barron Heating is extremely OVERPRICED! I called them last week because the air handler for my residential HVAC unit (the indoor portion of the heat pump) was making noise that sounded to me as if it was being starved for return air. (I called Barron because they had done the installation, and I had been very happy with their work in the past.) Before calling, I had removed the filters so that I could look up into the unit and could see that the heat exchanger coils were indeed heavily caked with dust. A technician from Barron Heating showed up the next day. After removing 12 screws so that he could remove the covers on the side of the air handler to access the heat exchanger, he confirmed my diagnosis. He then proceeded to spray a can of Blackhawk Expanding Foam Coil Cleaner ($18.48 on Amazon) onto the heat exchanger coils, waited 5 minutes, and then reattached the two panels. Total time on-site was under an hour. The bill, however, came to $526.92 including tax. I immediately called and spoke with a service manager, explaining that I felt their charges were exorbitant. After several days and additional phone calls, they issued a 5% ($26.35) refund. I subsequently called another local HVAC contractor and asked how much they would charge for this type of service call. Their response was that they charge $135 for the initial call and diagnostics (whereas Barron charged $120 for this portion of the bill), but that the bill would likely total around $250. I would have been very happy to pay Barron Heating $250 for this service call. BUT NOT $500. Even my attorney doesn't charge that much per hour. On 8/31/22, I revised my review: I received a phone call this morning from a representative of Barron Heating, who called me in response to my review. After a short conversation, he stated that Barron Heating would be issuing an additional refund. As I stated in my original review, I called Barron because they had done much of the HVAC work at my home in the past and I had always been very happy with their work. My only complaint with this most recent service call was what I felt was an exorbitant cost. The additional refund now makes their cost for this repair more in line with what other local HVAC contractors would have charged. Based on that change, I will state that I once again WOULD recommend Barron Heating. I have therefore changed my rating from one star to four stars. read more

I recently had Barron come out to inspect what was wrong with my AC unit. Everything was great with that first appointment. The technician arrived on time and was very friendly. Once he finished he said someone would call me back within the week with an estimate and then we could schedule to have him come back to fix it. He arrived on a Monday and I never heard from anyone. I called the following Monday and they said it was already approved and that they just needed to schedule it. It's already approved? How is it approved if I haven't even received the estimate? Anyway, I wanted my AC unit fix especially since its summertime and I know we are going to have more hot days. Got it scheduled 2 weeks out and on the day they were suppose to show, no one showed. I called and they said it wasn't on the schedule. I should also mention when I called to schedule this they said they need 50% down before they would schedule it. Well, I did my part, I paid. The least you could do is put me on the F@$king schedule. Now I have no AC unit and I see we are about to go through some more 90* weather. Awesome! read more

Update: The manager called the following work day after my post. When I explained that a nearby neighbor had his HVAC system serviced by Barron recently. He checked and found a mapping error on my address. They scheduled a technician to do the inspection/maintenance 2 days later- who was great! I have no problem with the error but it's only because of my post that this got corrected. However, I am very happy with the results and have changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars and will return to recommending Barron again. Previous review: We purchased a new heat pump and furnace in 2019 for over $15,000. At the time, the team was extremely supportive. We had an issue with it the first winter but they spent a great deal of effort figuring out the problem with this newest version of the model. It was a programming problem and we have had no problems since then. They were terrific. We chose Barron believing them to be a dependable company who would stand by their product and as I've stated, they did at first. Last year and again this year I called to request an inspection and maintenance visit but they have told us that we are no longer in their service area but MIGHT be some time in the future again. I never write negative reviews. I just don't use the product again. However I am so disappointed that I am writing this one. I would not recommend this company for your HVAC needs if you're looking for a long term relationship. read more

He also suggested the silver plan for our annual furnace, fireplace, and ac checheckup, which is less than just the fireplace was in Seattle. No pressure, just an clear explanation of coverage. Nice person to deal with. Gloves and mask at all times. We received our emailed receipt immediately. The office called within a day to schedule our whole house assessment as we had requested. Our furnace quit on 12/12/2017, we called Barron, they couldn't come for 3 days. When they finally called to schedule we had to wait for a window of 6 hours. The tech came at hour 5. Couldn't fix it, rigged it until he could get a part. Said part took 3.5 months to "arrive" It's winter!!! I had to call twice to see if indeed they did plan on coming back. Scheduled an appointment to replace said part, again waited 6 hours on a Friday only to get a call to reschedule at 6:15.(6 was the cut off time) Finally get the part in on 3/27/2018. No customer service, no call to say hey, this part is magical and therefore will take forever, no concern or care what so ever for our time. I live on Whidbey Island where customer service is not one of the strengths of local service providers. What a pleasant surprise when I contacted Barron to service my furnace and heat pump. Everyone was polite, responsive, extremely knowledgeable and had excellent communication skills. They gave me a half hour window for when they would arrive -not the usual 4 hours that wastes half of your day. I had two email reminders and the tech called me when he was leaving Burlington. 2nd Experience..Today is a Monday and Lane their Tech, was here bright and early to fix my Gas fireplace. He isolated the problem quickly and corrected it. Cannot say enough about their extremely responsive excellent customer service and their attention to Covid mitigation. Barron did I great job on the work performed but damaged my house in the process without apology or discount. Be sure to watch them while they work and inspect the surrounding area thoroughly before signing off on the job. Phillipe was the lead and Daniel was assisting him. Danielle is the one who created the damage, including scaling up the walls to access the crawl space instead of using a ladder and leaving shoe marks that won't come off and require paint touch up to a recently painted wall. While handing Phillipe tools, Daniels scratched our newly installed hardwood floors while handing him tools. When I called Dabbie in the office, her response was that I gave permission for them to hoist themselves up and touch up painting should be easy for me - I gave no such permission, who would say someone could climb up the wall? She also has the audacity to tell me that the scratched on the floor must have been from something underneath the tarp they put down or left by someone else - no apology, no discount. This is beyond poor customer service and the lack of respect for my home and my business is disappointing. read more

The commercial department at Barron Heating gave me two bids for two different HVAC systems for a restaurant that is in my commercial building. One system was a Daikin ductless system and the other was a natural gas heat with electric air conditioning roof top packaged unit. Two prices and each had their benefits. I went with the Daikin system due to the energy efficiency. The system works and nothing is defective, it's just either undersized or it can't handle the kitchen range hood pulling out so much conditioned air. I installed a make up air system on the range hood and made little to no difference. The problem we have is temperature fluctuations of up to 6 degrees (within 15 minutes it drops that far) when the system goes into defrost mode which can happen every hour or so when it's cold outside. Customers are always complaining it's cold when this happens. The next problem is when the outside air temp drops below freezing the system can't maintain thermostat temperature set point. You can set the thermostat at any temperature you want and the room temperature will not get above 64 degrees at best. When it goes into defrost mode it rapidly drops to 61 degrees. All the employees were wearing jackets and customers were making comments about how cold it was in the restaurant. This system should have never been offered to me as a viable system because it just does not work even reasonably well. When the outside air temperature is above 50 degrees it works okay. The lower the temp the worse it gets. I have had several of Barron's commercial managers and engineers come look at the system to see what can be done and what they come up with is install more electric or natural gas heaters at a cost of $8000 and up. I am expected to pay to put a band aid on a system that never should have been installed. I have been very patient with Barron trying to figure out ways to make it work for 3 years and it just doesn't perform. So when Barron says their slogan "We're not comfortable until you are" on the radio, don't believe it. We are definitely not comfortable by any means. I hope they think me and my family members have been good customers over the years. In the last 6 or 7 years I have lost track of how many systems I have had them install. Multiple residential and commercial units. I have a shopping center and Barron does all my work there. I am a silver shield customer which they have me on contract for all the routine maintenance which gives me other benefits. I have very little complaints for the most part but this Daikin system they installed is a major problem that has no solution from Barron other than me shelling out another several thousand dollars to put a band aid on it. read more

Barron heating is like alot of big companies today. Say the satisfaction and treating customers is a priority but really worship money more. I believe I have experienced the true unethical way the tr÷at a customer. I had Barron install a single split heat pump in 2015. Paid nearly 7000.00 in all. Was told this unit was warentied for 12 years. Evidently I paid for this without knowing. I was also told i was required to have a service done every year or this wou)d be void, which according to the contract with Esure Ins is a lie. I also was pressured into paying fof this service eachyear in advance. They call this the silver shield preffered customer. However i paid for a service costing 190.00 fir 2021 but felt so unvomfortsble with their pressure tactics i didnt use this service. Now in 2023 my unit is non functioning. They said i wasent even considered a customer anymore. The 190.00 is gone (non refundable). That is how Barron really deals with their customers. They make a huge amount off their so called respected customers bug believe it is ok to keep 190.00 paid by me without ever doing any service. But wait out of the kindness of their heart they will provide me with a diagnostic test at a 15 percent discount for 140.00 dollars that I need to pay. And they wonder wht I give t&em a one star.
