I have used Lynden Sheet Metal for 3 major installations and could NOT be happier with the results. They were NOT the cheapest but there price was not out of line. Here is the reason, I started with them. When we moved here in 2021, I called them and 4 of their competitors. LSM and Marrs are the only two that responded. it came down to availability and trust. Trust was from multiple people that I know that gave me a great review and I am really happy i listened to them. Since then, we had them on two additional installs and a couple service calls and they have been consistently top notch. The installs have consisted of mini-splits as well as Heating and Airconditioning units so our experience is not just one type of install. Next will be Gas fireplaces in our home. We have been using LSM I believe since 2014. We have always been happy with them, until this year. There was a new person in training, which we all need to learn, no issues with that, but Every time I look at our fireplace, it's a constant reminder of how it went wrong this time. Somehow the front of the fireplace was damaged when the gas fireplace was cleaned. They didn't say anything about it, and I have really tried not to say anything, to just let it go, but I have decided I just can't use them anymore. If they had just told me about it and made arrangements to have it repaired, I would have respected it and been happy. read more

they are a Rinnai certified repair service , so I had them attend to a 6 week new Rinnai furnace that was making very loud noises. The tech never located the problem and two weeks later I was presented with a $645 bill. This was warranty work. I called and one supervisor agreed, it should be paid by Rinnai. I waited two weeks, then drove out of town to their office and met with the supervisor that was supposed to correct the matter. He said he would "take care of it" . they never did. I am out $645 for a warranty call on a new furnace. Do not deal with this business. read more

During our last big freeze we had a pipe break. We called them and they came out after a few days to fix the pipe. It worked for almost a week and then burst again in exactly the same place as before, so obviously not fixed well. They came out and fixed the same pipe, same place and charged us another $200 to fix it again, even though they didn't fix it correctly in the first place. Won't be using them again, since they obviously don't stand by the work they should have fixed. read more

We needed to switch over the fluorescent lighting in our 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse to LED's and I asked them for a quote on a recommendation. They came out promptly and gave us a bid that was way lower than all the others. Then they started the next week and only took three and a half days to finish with two guys when we were told by others it was a two week job. BEWARE-the staff at Lynden Sheet Metal are motivated to take advantage of homeowners who are in a vulnerable position. From Nicky, the dispatcher to the technician who shows up to assess the problem, to the sales person with loan application data. It is a well oiled machine. I contacted this company when my heater was damaged by water in my basement. Not knowing anything about the heater and the damage, while in freezing temperatures outside, I was told my heater had severe corrosion and could not be fixed. I paid the $95 service call fee. Later in the day the sales person came out to seal the deal. I was given a quote and information for low interest rate financing. The quote was around $4,000 to replace my heater. I thought the process with Lyndon Sheet Metal was too smooth. The technicians attitude was too pompous and arrogant. I contacted a new technician who arrived the following day. He assure me he could order new parts but the wait time could be up to two weeks for completion. The cost including parts---$695.00. Of course I decided to use my instinct and have my heater fixed. And, I saved over $3,000.00 without the need of a loan. When I asked for a Refund of the $95.00, Nicky the dispatcher refused. My advise--BE CAREFUL. Get a second opinion before you take out a loan or give up thousands of dollars when your heater can possibly be fixed. Hope this is helpful! read more

My wife and I recently bought a house with an "older" natural gas fireplace. It worked great for the first few weeks until it suddenly stopped working one night. After finding LSM online as a service rep in the north county I gave them a call. Same day service was offered if it was our only source of heat. We did have a space heater so we opted for the next day. The technician showed up on time and was courteous and polite and he helped us get the unit operable again. He explained our issue and solved another problem we had with the remote thermostat. His van had the parts we needed on-site which is a huge bonus in my book. Well prepared and knowledgeable. I have loved these guys since I have been using them, but when they came to fix a broken faucet in my front yard it cost an exorbitant amount. The rates were $140 an hour which was mostly digging (and yes really yucky digging) and they were fantastic guys. I wonder if they could subcontract labor for jobs that are not as technical. The good: I utilized them when my tankless went south, they found a few issues during their diagnostics, which revealed a gas line issue. After addressing it, the issue continued. They replaced the mother board and burner on our unit, which helped bring intermittent hot water. This was at least a plus from the cold we were getting. They then reviewed our water pressure, finding that it was too low for a tankless to work. This didn't make sense as I've had the unit for three years and the only issue we ever had was getting consistently hot bath water, which makes sense with a unit that has poor water pressure. The bad: Despite my discussion with them that the unit worked well prior for three years before this (exception being bathtub) they informed me that they couldn't do anything more for me, other than offer to replace with a $2300 tank unit (before install). After spending nearly $1000 on the prior trips and attempts to fix our tankless, I simply couldn't afford that. I waited 4-5 months or so, saved up and called them again requesting someone come out and see what all we needed for a tank. No call. I called again with the same request, no call again. After leaving two voicemails, I elected to call around to several locations and found a company out of Blaine, Whatcom Electric and Plumbing. These gentleman came and cleaned the unit, found some issues pertaining to water pressure which we knew, but then found a flow sensor issue. They replaced the flow sensor, and almost immediately we had hot water at all locations other than the bathtub (water pressure related, as I've said). It was working just as it was prior, in a shorter amount of time and at a cost that was ultimately less than LSM. We kept our unit that works for our needs and didn't need to spend that 2300+. My frustration is not the work they put in, but that they didn't replace flow sensor and never called me back when attempting to get a tank installed. Was looking to install a mini-split heat pump. Had several companies come out to assess our home and make bids. We wound up going with Lynden Sheet Metal because their guy, Karl, really made an effort to make sure we were doing it right. A project like this is both an art and a science. Figuring out what will work for a particular layout, how much capacity is needed and what's too much, is not simple. Several contractors just sort of threw bids together. A couple of others saw the challenges of our home and never even got back to us. One smaller outfit seemed knowledgeable and caring (and came close to getting the nod) but we elected to go with Lynden Sheet Metal because they were so conscientious and they inspired the most confidence. Karl went out of his way to assess what would work and what would not. I had a particular system in mind. He was concerned, for a variety of technical reasons, that it wouldn't do the job and we wouldn't be happy. He requested the layout of our home along with the sizes and locations of windows, doors and skylights in order to compute our needs as scientifically as possible. He consulted with the manufacturer to assess various options. He came out a couple of times to reassess. It was clear he wanted my wife and me to be satisfied with the final result. He put together several options for us to choose from. He also sharpened his pencil, making a particularly competitive bid on the system he thought would be best. That's the one we went with. He was careful to assess and meet our needs without overshooting in order to hold costs down. When it was time for the install, LSM sent out two guys who really cared about doing it well. Kyle was both experienced and conscientious. He brought a care for detail and a real craftsmanship to the job. That's the kind of thing one rarely sees anymore. As an example, he ran a channel in the garage where he could have gotten away with leaving the lines exposed. I wasn't expecting this elegant channel to sweep out of the ceiling and along the wall. Now, every time I drive into the garage, I notice it and feel appreciation for a job really well done. Kyle was on the job from beginning to end. The first couple of days, Matt was also sent out. Though not as experienced as Kyle, he had a similarly conscientious attitude and commitment to doing everything just so. They were a great team. When the most challenging part of the job was done, they pulled Matt and sent him elsewhere and sent out another guy to help pull lines. Since that required no particular expertise installing mini-splits, it worked out fine. They sent a guy named Ben who was patient and pleasant. All three of these guys were consistently helpful and pleasant, happy to answer questions and address concerns. LSM deserves a lot of credit for giving their guys latitude to take the time to do a job right. A lot of contractors would just throw things together and their attention would be primarily on the bottom line. Not so with LSM. They care about their reputation and want customers to be satisfied. Even if they wind up losing money on a job, they'd rather do it well and consider it an investment in good will. It's nice to see a company that values notions as old fashioned as reputation. What might have been a three-day job had it been rushed became a five-day project in order to ensure that everything was perfect. I was fine with that. Better to do it right than to do it fast. I've owned a lot of properties and hired a lot of contractors over the years, some great, others fair and a few whom it would have been best to avoid. This was my first time working with LSM and I don't think I've ever felt better about the entire process -- from assessment of needs to price to quality of work to interactions with all of their employees (Karl, Kyle, Matt, Ben and the office staff too). Ken and his crew did a incredible job! I have a business polishing Ferrari's and hold very high standards. I needed some diamond plated aluminum fabricated for the inside flooring of my smart car which is used for business and from beginning to end everything went perfectly. Originally I priced out the aluminum from Home Depot before being referred to Lynden Sheet Metal by another custom fabricator in Bellingham, WA. Ken, was very responsive with his emails. Upon meeting him he had a very friendly, interested and competent persona. I WAS IMMEDIATELY COMFORTABLE DOING BUSINESS WITH HIM! He spent just enough time gaining rapport as he did doing measurements. Then, HE QUOTED ME A FAIR PRICE THAT WAS JUST WITHIN THE FIGURE I HAD IN MIND. He gave me a few custom options to choose from, and a proper time frame of completion. (2 weeks) The job was finished within a week! Excellent follow through Ken. Once arriving back at the shop he test fitted the aluminum, I made a couple more small requests, and he and his crew handled that very quickly & simply. My family has been ongoing customers of Lynden sheet-metal for years and up until this year we have been very happy with the service that we have received. A couple years ago my grandfather got a quote to put a heat pump in his house from Lynden sheet metal, shortly after getting that quote he passed away so we did not move forward with having the heat pump installed. Now I am going to be moving into that house and I've been trying to get the quote updated so that I can have the heat pump installed. I have been trying to get the quote from them for about 10 weeks now, each time I call, every two weeks I am told they will have an updated quote to me in two weeks and I still have not seeing anything. I asked Lynden Sheet Metal for a quote to install a wood stove we are buying. I got the quote via email, and here is a copy of my email back to them. Dear Bobbi (GM) and Karl (installer) I am not sure I understand your proposal to install our wood stove. Your proposal is $2,672 to install our owner provided stove. You give a price but there is no parts list, no parts cost, no labor estimate. This is a price tag, not a proposal. As a result, I had to do my own research, which is part of what I thought I would be paying you for. We are talking three holes, two through a wall and one through an exterior roof overhang. Only one L is required. Looking at the RETAIL prices on metalbestos double wall pipe sets - air in, exhaust out - L - short pipe to weathershield chimney cap, the cap, the cap for the air in and the connectors, it looks like about $900. Even at 150% of that, $1350, your quote of $2,672 suggests 50% of the cost is labor. Even at $100 an hour for labor, that is 13 hours to punch three holes, something you should be expert at, and assembling maybe 15 pieces of metal, something else you should be expert at. It doesn't seem like that'd take 13 hours at a supposed $100 an hour in labor. Would you please clarify for me what I am missing and what is included in your basic $2,672 quote? read more

Andrew came and gave me a fair bid with excellent products (American Standard). I had many other HVAC companies come to my home to submit a bid, so I had experience of viewing many bidders. LSM were excellent to deal with from the heating installer Jeremiah, to the air-conditioning installer Taylor and their electrician Brad. All did outstanding work, and all were punctual and left our home without any issues. I also had an Accu-Clean filtration devise added. Not at all happy with this company. Would not recommend them. The Phone Receptionist were abrupt and rude, on each of the 3 occasions I had to call. The guys that came out knew what they were doing and were very nice. They did not reflect the attitude of the office staff. But they were not able to get the job completed before we received a HUGE bill. The Job still isn't completed after what has now been going on for more than 3 weeks because they were unable to get the part locally. We were told after they receive the part they need to complete the job we would receive a second bill. I Am very upset and sorry I ever contacted them. read more

I had a furnace and water tank installed 11 months ago. They have since been out for repairs ranging from bellies in the line they missed but wanted to honor and be honest about that they caught in a re visit.... which I can appreciate. A few other return visits flagged inspections for condensate exit lines which needed repair on a second trip. They also replaced some bigger diameter piping the estimator didn't see that would best suit the code for diameter piping. Again appreciate the free work but not the hassle. They will come out and repair all their mistakes but why are there so many mistakes.I'm experiencing flooding again and am hoping hey are good for their fourth repair. I went with these guys originally because they had free estimates after I got steamed I paid Barron heating 95$ for them to tell me my furnace was broke. The flooding for those who know plumbing because my exposed pea trap is the same water level as my kitchen sink thus causing the surge of water to exit in my furnace room. Lynden Sheet metal did the annual check up on our furnace and gave everything a green light. Our daughter who lives by herself in the house turned on the heat one night. She heard the gas sensor going off in the lower level of the house and it registered 90. She got out of the house after opening the doors and windows and turning off the furnace. She took her puppy and laid out on the lawn. The technician came back and said he couldn't do anything about it. There must be a blockage in the chimney. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have found Lynden Sheet Metal to be nothing but unresponsive and both unwilling and unable to meet the commitments they made. I was told that I would receive an A/C unit within a month. After three weeks of no word from this company, I had to call in and start complaining before I was told that they were over-committed and had no electricians to do their installs. I was asked to wait until the middle of August or longer -- six weeks or more from my initial contact. The general manager, who was useless and rude, told me she had no way to even look at the schedule her scheduler was gone on vacation!!!! How can a GM have no way even to look at the schedule and what company doesn't have someone to cover a MAJOR issue like scheduling when an employee is on vacation? I have been told that my money will be refunded. We'll see if that happens without me having to go to court. Evidently, I'm too "difficult" of a customer. Yes, that's what I was told. They only want to work with chumps who don't mind being put off. GO ELSEWHERE!!! There are many qualified AC companies in the area. You can do better. read more
