Andgar was the original contractor for our office HVAC, but once individual office walls were erected and furniture/cubicles moved in, the airflow and climate control went completely out of whack. People in their offices are sweltering and those in cubicles are either freezing -- wearing coats, hats, and blankets indoors -- or sweating and stripping off layers. These temperature extremes are only 5 to 10 feet apart. Also, the system for regulating temperature and fans is clunky: thermostats near a vent actually operate vents across the room and they're not very intuitive. It takes an engineer to program it, and I work with engineers. We're still freezing/sweltering. Makes no sense. Anyway, just wanted to put my 2 cents in while my fingers still have feeling. read more

My husband and I began gathering bids in March of 2021 when we realized that our ancient gas furnace was failing. After extensive research, we decided to work with John Dudley at Andgar. We are so glad that we did! John is a busy man, but he was always available to answer our in-depth questions and provided thorough responses to all before we made our decision. We replaced the failing furnace and elected to add a heat pump. Andgar added ductwork and returns to rooms that previously had poor circulation. In addition, insulation was added to ducts in our crawlspace and basement. John was always present at the beginning of the day to review the work that the crew was doing and returned later to ensure that the workspaces were clean and that we were happy. We really enjoyed the technicians that were onsite; they were a great group of people whom all took pride in their work. Our new furnace and heat pump keep our house comfortable year round and cost less to run. When the heat wave hit Bellingham last summer, we were cool and comfortable. Rob was my tech. He gave me a text half hour before he arrived letting me he was on his way. He was more than helpful. Being a new homeowner I was unsure where my water main valve shut off was. He went on a hunt with me to find the location and give me peace of mind. It was in a unique hidden spot and he actually had to crawl in a little cubby to locate it. He did maintenance on my tankless water heater today. Took care of all of its needs. The price for the maintenance was actually less than Washington energy charges which is who I've used in the past in my Snohomish location. They offered a fabulous discount for next year's maintenance rate. It ends up being about $100 off to pre-buy. It's always a no-brainer because these particular appliances need annual maintenance to begin with to keep them running well. Thank you Rob for the excellent service today. Installed Trane HVAC hybrid system. System decreased our heating bill by 30%. Even with rebates and tax savings this was expensive. Workmenship and response time excellent. read more

After this month's heat wave we realized that our 20 year old Trane AC was in need of professional help. Who else to call other than Cindy at Andgar, who has always been very delightful on the phone. She explained the different possibilities for the lack of cooling and sent a technician by the name of Tad who found that the capacitor ("the equivalent of a heart defibrillator") was dead after having leaked oil. Andgar orderd a replacement and a technician by the name of Fred came and replaced the capacitor and tested the system. The AC ran but at an anemic level with limited ability to generate cold air. Fred then realized that the coils started to freeze, implying insufficient refrigerant. My system was running on R22 which is no longer allowed / encouraged, for environmental reasons. Today Cody Stratton came and drained whatever little amount of the R22 that was left in the system. He tested the system for any obvious leaks and then recharged it using the new refrigerant by the name of R421a. Our 20 year old AC now runs very well and generates excellent cooling. Just had our first year service maintenance performed by an Andgar service tech. Our furnace is only one year old but since we have so many warranty claims against the builder, we do not trust the vendors they used to give us reliable service. As it turned out, they were able to clean and check our furnace for performance. All went well. So pleased were we, that we signed up for their yearly maintenance program. The two men (one in training) called before coming, arrived on time and conducted themselves in a professional manner. And answered all our questions with credible responses! Taylor came out and cleaned our air ducts for us. When he initially arrived, a part on the compressor was broken and needed repair, so our work had to be delayed. He went above and beyond to reschedule with us as soon as possible- just two days later! I am so used to companies having to reschedule weeks out so this was a huge bonus. He was polite, respectful of our home by taking off his boots and wearing a mask, and was really nice to our dog who can be very barky. He answered all of our questions and inspected our duct runs as well gave us a report on those as well as a report of our crawl space in general. "Andgar Ken" is our guy to service our furnace and air conditioner. He really cares about his customers and about doing a professional job. I opted to be on their annual maintenance schedule so also get a discount! The thermostat in my house is really old so Ken's coming back to install a new one with wifi capability! Wow! A+ service team! I called Andgar this morning because my heat pump had stopped working. Cindy answered the phone and was amazing - super courteous, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely concerned about my family having heat for these chilly evenings. She asked lots of questions, then said she'd speak with a technician and get back in touch soon. True to her word, I received a prompt phone call informing me that the technician, John, would drive out to my house this same afternoon and inspect the heat pump. I didn't even need to meet him out there, since I was at work. Awesome! In the afternoon, I used my phone app to check the house thermostat and saw the temperature was climbing. So I knew the heat pump was working again. A few minutes later, John called to confirm everything was copacetic. Thank you Andgar, I really appreciate the fast service and excellent follow-up. Had paid for annual maintenance at the house we sold, so I called to have that transferred to our new house asking Andgar to come out to service our furnace. Tech came out as expected, but never actually fully serviced the furnace. Instead they put in a new igniter and assumed it was good. Got home that night and the furnace still didn't work. Called and the Tech said he knew it was another part but didn't want to replace it yet. Said he would need to order the part and would be able to install the following week. Day came and the tech installed the new part and again assumed it was good. Got home after work and AGAIN the furnace didn't work. This was on a Thursday and they couldn't send another Tech out until the following week. Day came and the Tech came out and finally did a full service of the furnace. In doing so the Tech determined there was a cracked part that could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, so they CONDEMNED our furnace leaving us without heat. I asked why this wasn't identified the first or second visit, to which the Tech responded by saying I don't know. The Tech said they would have a comfort specialist contact us to give a quote on a new system. A week passed, then another week and still nobody contacted us. So we are going with another business. This all occurred when temperatures started dipping below freezing. This is poor business and, from what I've found in my research, consistent with other customer experiences. I would strongly encourage going with another business for your HVAC needs. Andgar does not care about their customers. Very disappointed. read more

The previous owner of our home had the furnace serviced every year from Andgar, and I figured I should do the same thing. I called and chatted with a nice lady who scheduled an appointment for me for two weeks out with a service window of 1-3pm. Come the day of the appointment, I made sure to take off work so I can be home for the service window time, and 1-3 came and went with no one showing up. When I called to see what happened, apparently I was never on their service calendar. Surprised for them to drop the ball like that with all these 5 star reviews, but clearly there must be some issues with their scheduling if my service appointment just disappeared for no good reason. No effort was made to make things right, so we'll be going with a different company for our furnace servicing. read more

Our hot water heater died...no hot water and started leaking one recent Wednesday evening. My local plumber company in Lynden couldn't get out to fix/replace it until the following Monday. I had Andgar come once previously to inspect and service our gas fireplace and heating system. They did an excellent job then. So, I called Andgar Thursday morning and explained what was going on with the hot water heater. The scheduler said she was going to get someone out to us and would rearrange the schedule. Robbi, the Andgar plumber, called to let us know he would be coming. He wore a mask socially distanced which was much appreciated in our over 70 and not yet fully vaccinated household. Robbi did an absolutely fabulous job removing the old hot water heater and replacing it with a brand new hot water heater. I couldn't believe the care and precision Robbi took in making sure everything was "just right." By 4:30 everything was in place and up and running. By 5:30 we had wonderful hot water again. AND, I got an email from Marla from Andgar with the certificate of inspection for the City of Lynden with directions to call the inspector and set up an appointment (the cost was included in the total cost of the job.) The inspector came and signed off that all was well. The total cost of everything was absolutely worth every penny and actually came out to be less than the total cost would have been with the original company I contacted. Andgar installed a new furnace in 2017 so the parts are still covered. The heat went out today, Monday, and as soon as I could get a repair date was Wed. from Andgar. I couldn't go that long without heat with Nov. night temperatures. So, I called a competitor and they sent a tech out in 3 hours. It only cost $330 to replace the faulty part that took 15 minutes. Andgar is a terrific hvac company. I have a cabin in East Whatcom and Andgar has been taking care of my gas furnace and fireplace for years. Their staff members are always on time, they do great work, and their prices are very reasonable. After working at Sears for many years, I realized what a rip-off service contracts were. That said, Andgar is the only service contract I EVER buy. read more

Excellent weird stuff here. We had some soot showing up on the exterior of our week-end home for the first time so we had them send out a tech. We could not be there, so we trusted them with a key. We came up a week later, and the propane gas fired stove (primary source of heat) was putting out more heat than we had gotten out of it in the eleven years we owned it. Apparently the glass front was not sealed properly?? The tech must have really known what he was doing. read more

Christopher Mason was happy to help with any questions we had, he was efficient and the work was done in a timely manner. Andgar personnel are very helpful in making appointments and ESPECIALLY soliciting new business. The work that they do well is performed extremely well. The techs arrive on time, professionally dressed and clean, provisions for shoe boots, state of the art equipment. Earlier this year and again recently; however, they failed the mark as it has been difficult to get them back to re-do FAILED work. We are saddened that they insist/require ADDITIONAL funds to re-do failed work. Example: The condensate furnace box was installed incorrectly and thus leaks (according to a consultation with a new vendor on Jan 17, 2018). The reason a new HVC was called was because Angar's representative Jon stated today he would be billing me AGAIN (January 17, 2018) to RETURN to "fix.". I said "no" since 2 or maybe three misses and now yet another attempt of service did not appear to be in my best interest. Andgar was recommended to me by my neighbor and I have recommended them to several others. I am disheartened over the recent poor service for my appliances. Last night I contacted someone whom said he was the "owner" of Andgar. He was very kind and seemingly concerned over my problems with his company. Today; however, tech Jon didn't assure me that my previously problems would be addressed UNLESS I was billed additionally. This is not a good ending. . . . .! read more
