I liked Barron's flooring from the start! Walking into the show room, and getting the information I needed on the right flooring for our project. They sent us home with samples and an appointment for a estimate. The estimate was also great! Chad came out did measurements and gave us more information about the flooring. After getting the estimate. Like many home owners, we got a few more estimates, but didn't get near the service we had already gotten from Barron's. Their price was higher then others, but I felt it was worth it! A few weeks later I took our samples back, ordered our flooring, and got our appointment set. Over the 40 years we lived in up in Amador County, we used Barron's Abbey Flooring and Design exclusively for our flooring, tile work, and window covering needs. We found Dan, Brenda, Chad, and Justin to be some of the nicest, most accommodating, knowledgeable, and professional people we've ever worked with. When we moved to Rancho Murieta a few months ago, we hired them once again to try to match the beautiful Anderson hardwood floors that were installed in our condo about 8 years ago. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a match to that style (even through Chad spoke directly to the representative from Anderson); however, we chose the "closest match" which was far better than the old carpeting that had to be removed from two of our condo's bedrooms. Our installers from Barron's, Ronnie and Joe, were without a doubt the best contractors that we've worked with in our remodel (out of at least half-a-dozen licensed contractors). They were punctual, conscientious, hardworking, dependable, and highly skilled in their trade. Ronnie was truly a master artist with his expertise in trying to match the current floor, while working with a diagonal pattern around difficult angled cuts. The end result was gorgeous! Also, we were so appreciative of them treating our home as if it was their own: cleaning up meticulously, cautiously moving furniture, and assisting us in the proper way to care for the new flooring. Even though Barron's bids may be slightly higher than other flooring contractors, we feel that you get what you pay for... with them, it's excellence in their trade! We visited the showroom in Martel and spoke with Brenda. We wanted carpet and window shades for our two downstairs bedrooms and she and her team made selection a breeze. They have a huge showroom with many carpet and window treatment samples 'installed' so you can see what they really look like. (They have more types of flooring and window treatments but we honed in on what we wanted). They are very knowledgeable about their products, warranties and also how to save you a little if you're on a budget. All you have to do is ask questions to get the answers you need - although they know what answers you need before you can ask the questions! One of our Hunter Douglas home window shades needed repair. The manufacturer referred us to Barron's. What a terrific experience! Brenda answered our initial call; then, she followed-up when we brought our shade in for repair. The repaired shade was provided and re-hung in our home several weeks later. However, Brenda identified that the shade was not repaired to her satisfaction (nor ours). She proactively had the manufacturer provide us with a new shade--within a week. Barron's showroom is a decor-inspiring environment. The other staff with whom we interacted, in addition to Brenda, were also professional, friendly and helpful. if I could post negative stars, I would. We went with Barron's thinking their quality would exceed Lowes. We were so wrong. First they installed a cracked piece of granite in our kitchen. The crack ran across the entire counter. The installer said he "beefed" it up, so it wouldn't crack any more. I don't understand why the installer took the time to do this, then installed the piece where you could definitely see the crack from two feet away. There were left over granite pieces that were not cracked and he could have installed one of those instead. However he didn't. We had to have him come back, remove the cracked piece and install one of the left over pieces. Additionally, the seams where the granite and bullnose meet are SO rough. The seams on the replaced piece are nice and smooth and the other seams are so rough that your clothing gets caught on it. After waiting SEVERAL months for Barrons to come look at it, and after several attempts to come up with an explanation, Barron's installer finally said the seams weren't smoothed when they cut the granite at their location. It didn't make sense to me how seams on one section could be smooth and why the other seams couldn't be. Barron's explained that granite is rock, rock isn't perfect, etc. I get that, but it's the same granite. It's the same slab. Why is one section smooth and the other not. They didn't take the time to smooth them when they were cut and just installed it. The installer said they can't do anything about it now. Barron's sided with the installer. Installer said they would have to plastic off the kitchen, bring in huge water hoses, etc. and they couldn't do it. So disappointing. A contractor friend had told me of two other similar stories with Barrons. However, I thought there must be more to the stories that he doesn't know about as I would expect Barron's to do top quality work. I was so wrong. I wish now that I would have listened to him. read more
