1 Star…read more Unfortunately, my recent experience at Mercy Hospital in Miami was extremely disappointing. I was greeted kindly when I arrived, taken to the back quickly, and placed in a room without much of a wait. However, after that, my experience changed. I went to the ER because I was experiencing very severe headaches with throbbing behind my eyes and temples. Walking made the throbbing worse, my vision felt slightly off, and I was experiencing intermittent ringing in my left ear. I explained that I had seen a neurologist the day before, who had recommended that I have an MRI and MRA to further evaluate my symptoms. When I explained this to the nurses, I was told that Mercy did not have an MRI/MRA available for me and that, if they did, emergencies would take priority. I completely understood that. I was not asking them to give me an MRI or MRA immediately. I simply asked if they could evaluate me and perhaps perform a CT scan or do something to determine whether there was an urgent problem. Instead, I was essentially told that there wasn't much they could do other than give me an IV with pain medication. I explained that I wasn't there simply looking for pain medication. I wanted to be evaluated because I wasn't feeling well and was concerned about the possibility of something serious. What upset me the most was feeling dismissed and as though my concerns weren't being taken seriously. I ultimately left the hospital in tears. My family has a long history with Mercy. My grandmother was treated there for cancer back in the 1990s, and my family always spoke highly of the care she received. That's part of why this experience was especially disappointing to me. I understand that hospitals have limitations, and I understand that certain tests may not always be immediately available. What I expected was to feel that my symptoms and concerns were taken seriously and that someone would make a genuine effort to evaluate me. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. One star. I sincerely hope that if I ever need to return because Mercy is one of the closest hospitals to me, I receive a very different level of care and compassion. Just terrible and sad!!

Review for Denise Cooks - Miami Jackson Neurological Intensive Care Unit…read moreI am Robert Anderson. On Monday night I suffered a brain aneurysm. After being transferred to Naples Community Hospital, they placed a drain to relieve pressure and a coil to stop the bleed, but they were unable to complete the procedure. I was then transferred to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Miami Jackson in Miami, Florida, where I had the privilege of being cared for by Nurse Denise Cooks. Denise is truly exceptional. From the moment she took over my care, she went far above and beyond in every way. She is deeply committed to her patients and treats them with genuine compassion and professionalism. Because I had no prior knowledge of this type of injury, her detailed explanations of every treatment and procedure were incredibly helpful and reassuring. She took the time to make sure I understood what was happening, which made a difficult and frightening situation much more manageable. After five days of being confined to bed, a friend planned to bring his future wife to meet me the next day. Denise went the extra mile by agreeing to shave my face so I would feel more presentable. She did an outstanding job, and that simple act of kindness meant the world to me. It is rare to find a nurse who not only provides excellent clinical care but also shows such thoughtful, personal attention. Denise Cooks deserves to be recognized and rewarded for her extraordinary efforts. She is a credit to Miami Jackson and to the nursing profession. I cannot thank her enough for the outstanding care she provided during one of the most challenging times of my life.

By the time we arrived, he had ascertained an antidote and within 15 minutes, our dog returned to normal. His table side manner was A+. Also the entire staff was kind, empathetic and professional. They charged a very fair and reasonable amount for the service provided. I would highly recommend this place for a pet emergency.

Elly received testing, medication, surgery, and hospital monitoring, and every step was handled with remarkable skill and genuine compassion. What impressed me most was how clearly everyone communicated. During an overwhelming emergency, they never buried me in medical information. They gave me a concise, one-page summary that explained exactly what had happened, what they had done, and what I needed to know for Elly's recovery. Their quality of care and bedside manner surpassed what I have experienced with most human doctors. Honestly, I would go to VEG for my own medical needs if they allowed human patients. Elly is recovering well, and I believe this team probably saved her life and gave us more time together. My deepest thanks to Gaspairn, Klipin, Bush, Comiesha, Nijoe, Nicole, Manu, Yuni, Brandi, and Denise. You are extraordinary.
