I underwent my initial gynecomastia surgery with Dr. Weintraub. He claims to employ a unique "basket" cannula to excise firm gland tissue without cutting the nipple, instead accessing it through the armpit. However, I am here to inform anyone who is apprehensive about scars, hesitant to travel, or facing any other concerns that if you opt for a surgeon like this, you will only receive liposuction, contrary to what you were assured. In my case, the results of liposuction alone were aesthetically inferior to my previous appearance. In stark contrast to what Dr. Weintraub promised and what he advertises on Instagram, he did not remove ANY gland tissue. A different surgeon recently removed gland from me and verified it with photos. The second surgeon confirmed that I had previously undergone liposuction alone. Worse, even the lipo only procedure that Dr. Weintraub performed was uneven, removing way more from one side. I'm still dealing with the asymmetries. For this he charged me over $13,000. I believe there's only one reliable way to remove gland, and that's through the areola. I now understand that a skilled surgeon can minimize scars and can prevent cratering. I can't imagine having a better plastic surgery experience than the experience I had with Dr. W and his team. I am now one-year post op after primary rhinoplasty (open) and neck lipo. I quickly forgot about my old nose and double chin. Those only exist in the horrific photos I sometimes come across and that is the only place they belong. So I'm going to break this review down into categories, so that it is easy for you to locate the part that is important to your search: 1. Results: - Very natural, essentially undetectable by a third party, but seriously impactful for me (in a positive way). My face has softened, feminized, and I no longer obsess over my nose on work calls. He gave me advice regarding my neck/chin area that was very different from the advice I got from other surgeons, but it made a lot of sense to me, so I went with his (less is more) approach, so that in the event I wanted work done at some point later in life (and let's be honest, I'll be getting a facelift when I'm in my mid-60s), so that I would have the best outcome. Dr. Weintraub performed four breast procedures on me in 13 months. I believe that working with Dr. Weintraub was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made in my life. I will spend the rest of it living with the consequences. I consider the results I obtained at his office to be disfiguring. Having consulted with several other board-certified and prestigious plastic surgeons, I believe that this outcome is the result of poor surgical judgment, not spontaneous or unforeseeable complications. I gave him multiple opportunities to revise the first surgery with--I believe any reasonable person would think--increasingly poor results (I can't post photos on Yelp due to their policies). He even admitted in his operative report that he performed a surgery against his better judgement. I am now having to spend tens of thousands of dollars to have at least one complicated and invasive ~ 5 hour surgery and may have more. Some problems, like chronic breast pain and numbness, as well as hypertrophic scarring, will likely never go away. This doctor has a history of several medical malpractice lawsuits in NY state. I also suggest reading about a judgment against him in a bankruptcy case, in which the judge accuses him of lying in his testimony and trying to defraud the court. All of this is a matter of publicly available court records. He offered me a partial refund in exchange for an NDA. I refused to take it. Not everyone has the financial means to turn down such an offer. I do wonder how many patients are out there who have had similar experiences but can't talk about them due to NDAs. I also know that he has threatened patients with defamation lawsuits in response to negative reviews. I suggest checking out the many negative reviews that were not recommended by Yelp's algorithm and so do not contribute to his star rating. *** In response to Dr. Weintraub's revisionist history: First of all, I believe that discussing any aspect of a patient's medical history in a public forum where they are identifiable is a HIPAA violation. Secondly, I never changed my mind. My chart/photos clearly indicate C/D cup. After downsizing, I was an F cup. I can't imagine what I must have been beforehand. However, the size was far from the primary issue. I remember very clearly that my breasts were different sizes, one higher than the other, and one side had double-bubble deformity after the first surgery. A surgeon who threatens negative reviewers with defamation lawsuits and has unhappy patients sign NDAs can't really claim that the positive reviews of his or her practice are representative of patients' collective opinions. Still, there are many negative reviews in "not recommended". I did once have good will toward the practice. Presumably, every patient whom Dr. Weintraub has harmed through surgical recklessness, negligence, and malpractice once trusted him. Otherwise, who would let a surgeon perform surgery in the first place? What makes the act of malpractice so insidious is that it is a breach of the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship and the trust on which that relationship is founded. 15 years ago, I had a breast lift and implant surgery done by a surgeon in Westchester NY that came highly recommended from a close friend. I had also wanted a rhinoplasty but was not in a financial position to have both done at that time. Not long after the surgery, I noticed the outcome was not what I wanted nor expected. They were saline implants which I've now learned are not the first choice for most top surgeons for a myriad of reasons one being because there is more chance of visible wrinkling or rippling. Am a busy mom and I work so don't have time to travel to NYC for a consultation. So I decided to first get an idea how much the surgery will cost. The first thing I told the woman who answered the phone I want to get an idea how much it's going to cost me before I can come in to the office as I live far and my schedule is busy. She told me yes but first I have to take some information from you. She took my name birth date, and address. Then she tells me I have to come in for a consultation first. I told her my schedule doesn't allow me to come right now. Hoping she tells me about the virtual consultation. Since she didn't bring it up I thought I made a mistake and read it at a different doctor. She tells me well when you have time to come in for a consultation give us a call back. So after hanging up the phone, I went to their website again to make sure if it was there or not. And it was, they had virtual! I called her back and told her, she puts me on hold for like 4 minutes and tells me how can I help you? I again explained to her that I wanted to do the virtual consultation and that's the reason I called you from the first place. She tells me oh even if you do virtual you still have to pay the whole consultation fee as if your came in the office. I told her ok why didn't you tell me that from the beginning when I first called you? She starts making up excuses. I told her I really wanted to do my surgery with this doctor but the way she handled the call with me I changed my mind. She talks as if am looking for something free or something. Thanks to her I found a different doctor that didn't have one negative review. P.s I called Monday which was yesterday at 2:54 pm. From the very first phone call (pre-consultation) to the actual consultation (meeting Dr. Weintraub for the first time) to the day of the surgery and all follow appointments afterwards , I only fall more in love with everything about this place! They are all loving, informative & gentle. For someone that is fearful of the word "surgery" this entire process was a breeze! Dr. Barry has the hands of an angel. I received exemplary treatment from Dr. Barry Weintraub and his staff. Not only is he talented, he is patient and kind. Absolutely worth every single dime you spend. Jill, the Practice Manager is supportive and Rachel, the nurse made me feel comfortable instantly. Prior to the surgery, the anesthesiologist (Doctor John) came in to make sure I was comfortable and asked if I have any questions. (At any other surgery, I never even knew what the anesthesiologist looked like!). Rachel, the nurse, made me feel comfortable, talked to my like we were friends or family and took my mind off of the major surgery that I was about to get. I've never felt PAIN either! When I closed my eyes Rachel was right by my side , and when I opened them there she was too. Dr. Weintraub and his staff are absolutely wonderful and we had the best possible experience this week. 10 stars! Could not have been any better. My girlfriend wanted a rhinoplasty procedure and lip fillers and did a ton of research on every doctor in NYC and the surrounding areas. In the end, she determined that Dr. Weintraub is the very best and that she wanted to do her only consultation with him. I had encouraged her to meet with multiple doctors before making a selection, however we knew right away when we met Dr. Weintraub, saw his gorgeous office, toured the operating theatre and talked to his staff, that we were in exactly the right place. Dr. Weintraub is thoughtful, extremely experienced, a good listener and takes the time to understand exactly what you want. His bedside manner is outstanding and knows how to immediately put patients at ease. We also LOVED Jill, the various nurses and all of the front desk staff. Everyone is extremely kind and professional. A great group of people to work with! First class all the way! My girlfriend knew exactly what she wanted. However she was worried that the doctor would not understand. However she found it easy to communicate her vision to the team. Dr. Weintraub not only embraced her ideas, he added thoughtful feedback, answered all of our questions (and we had many) and made the process fun and collaborative. He also clearly understood how every face is totally different.....and that you have to customize every nose to every face to make the changes appear natural, beautiful and not at all fabricated. He knew exactly what my girlfriend needed to achieve the desired look without sacrificing any aspect of her natural beauty. This was all very helpful and make us feel very comfortable. We built a plan together and felt confident that Dr. Weintraub was the perfect partner for the project. We were in a hurry to get the procedure done quickly (my girlfriend has a lot of travel coming up) and they were about to not only accommodate our desired schedule, but got us in for the procedure even faster than we had hoped. Truly fantastic service! The procedure went very smoothly and we could tell right away that the results would be stunning. She had very little pain after the procedures and only required pain killers for two days...then we moved to Tylenol Extra Strength. She had absolutely no bruising around her eyes (which I had seen was the case with other patients at other clinics online). Her recovery was incredibly very fast. She was back on her feet in 2 days and feeling really good. And the team at Dr. Weintraub's office checked in regularly. We were very appreciative of all of the extra attention. Also note that all the procedures are done on site in a beautiful and ultra-modern operating theatre. This made us feel good as having a procedure in a hospital greatly increases risk of infection. I had an amazing HydraFacial experience at Dr. Weintraub's. The Medical Aesthetician, Sanela, was lovely. I'm hesitant to work with new aestheticians out of fear that my face will react poorly to new products but Sanela went into great detail throughout the process making it enjoyable and easing any anxiety. She clearly is extremely knowledgeable and provided long-term solutions by creating a personalized regiment to improve my skin. She recommended one of Dr. Weintraub's medical-grade sunscreens that has since become a regular in my day-to-day skincare routine. I saw immediate results and continued to see a difference in my skin since the appointment. The office was clean and easy to access and the staff was kind and attentive. It's a cliché to get a facelift for your kids wedding but that's exactly what I did! I couldn't stand the idea of not looking my best and having significant pictures taken and seeing family members I haven't seen in ages. I'm a businesswoman who rarely makes time for herself because of the company I run. But at a certain point, you realize that you need to take care of yourself. A friend had a facelift with Dr. Weintraub, so it wasn't like I didn't know how good his work would be. It's a different thing when it's your own face though. The whole situation seemed perfect, with his skill and kindness and immaculate office and staff, but I admit I was still a little scared of the process. I shouldn't have been. There are photographs of me from my son's wedding that I can't believe are actually me now! It looks like me when he was a kid! Stellar experience from start to finish. Trust me, I did my research, and went to the few competitors of Dr. Weintraub's. I did not have a good impression of them in comparison. They seemed to run factories, rushing, not taking time, caring more about business than medicine. Dr. Weintraub on the other hand is patient and specific and has a very high standard for safety, went to Cornell, and has anesthesiologists on staff. Certainly he's not inexpensive, but the personalized care I received, even with my high expectations, was total worth it I can't recommend him highly enough. Just an extra note, my own mother who is very critical, saw me and couldn't figure out why I looked so good. That's how impossible it is to detect Dr. Weintraub's work! I would highly recommend Dr. Weintraub; he is absolutely amazing. I came from out of state for a consultation for a rhinoplasty and it was such an amazing/ fun experience. He answered all my questions and gave me a tour of the surgical room. He really took the time to listen and consult with what I wanted to achieve. Sure this guy has good work, but he's very rude and inappropriate when you schedule a consult. Pointing out different parts of my body I didn't ask to be looked at and saying I have fat on those areas. First of all Im 27, Im not fat and if Ive had a scar around my belly all my life that created a different context in my skin. SO BE IT. Its not fat, its the scar that created unevenness. But don't you try to make me insecure cause Im a hot girl and all I wanted was some stuff done on my face. Just because I want to do surgery, it doesn't mean I have low self esteem. There are no words in the English dictionary that I can say to show my gratitude for the work Dr. Weintraub and his team has done for me. From day one, I have received nothing but stellar care. Although I was initially very apprehensive about getting my rhinoplasty, Dr. Weintraub made me feel so comfortable and at ease. It has been two weeks post-operation and my sutures have almost dissolved. Dr. Weintraub performed a closed rhinoplasty avoiding any external suturing. I had no bruising and only minimal swelling, which of course is typical. Last but certainly not least, I want to mention Dr. Weintraub's team. They responded to my e-mails and answered all of my inquiries in a very timely manner. Every time I would visit their office, they showed me nothing but kindness and I am so appreciative.
