Love Barry's. First class may be intense when it comes to the sprinting on treadmill, but has gotten so much easier and durable. It's a great workout. You'll either start on weights doing floor/bench work or the tread. I personally like starting on the treadmill because you'll end the workout session on the floor. They offer a stretch at the end, but also make it known you can leave during the stretch by opening the door. I've worked out with kolbie, alex, and ali and they are all dope and have great energy. There's a bathroom with changing area, shower,, basic needs like blow dryer. They provide towels during your workout as well.

To beat rush hour traffic we tried Barry's for the first time for a lunch class in Hyde Park. The class we did was full body. Our instructor Hannah was motivating and funny. Even though it was full body I liked how it seemed to be more organized than other circuit classes, focusing on different areas in each round. You switch between running and weights for 3 rounds. The space is clean with bright red lighting and the loud speakers playing bangers to get you motivated. Fun class, and friendly staff. Definitely a good workout!

One of my favorite places to work out at. The staff is so friendly and it doesn't feel like a gym at all it feels more like a home.

At first I was intimidated because I am not a runner and the treadmill portion scared me.

I've truly enjoyed what the Downtown Tampa YMCA brings to downtown -- a wellness facility that…read moreblends community spirit with reliable fitness offerings. This wellness center boasts an efficient layout--compact yet thoughtfully arranged--with plenty of cardio machines, weight stations, and free weights. Locker rooms are clean and functional. The space overall is well-maintained and welcoming. Many staff and member reviews echo the same sentiment: "friendly and helpful staff... always clean." Hours & Convenience The hours are great for working professionals: Monday through Thursday from 5am to 8pm, Friday until 7pm, Saturday until 1pm, and Sunday until noon. After 5:15pm, members get two hours of validated parking at the nearby Fort Brooke Garage--huge bonus in downtown Tampa. The Studio offers small-group training, yoga, and specialty classes throughout the day, with sessions available early in the morning, during lunch, and in the evening. Instructors like Rickey (spin) and others consistently earn praise for being both motivational and engaging. From the front desk team to personal trainers, the staff here make a real impact. They're professional, warm, and ready to help, whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth. The gym feels like a positive, welcoming environment--not overly flashy, just consistent and community-minded. Smack in the middle of Downtown Tampa, just steps from the Riverwalk and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, this YMCA is a wellness oasis for locals and office workers alike. It's a hub for both fitness and outreach, staying connected to the Channelside and Downtown neighborhoods. A few notes: the gym can get a bit busy during peak times (especially lunch), and group fitness classes can be very high-energy--sometimes with music turned up a little too loud. But overall, these are minor quirks in an otherwise stellar facility. Final Verdict 4.5 out of 5 stars -- A solid, well-run fitness center with great staff, solid equipment, and an easy-going atmosphere. If you live or work downtown and want a consistent, welcoming space to get your workout in, this YMCA is a gem.

I don't like to run nor cycle. I do and teach pilates almost everyday. I wanted to find something…read morejust for me to take my mind off pilates and still push my core to next level . I think I am addicted to rowing. it is not easy ! so if you have not worked out in a while , I would not recommend it. You have to watch your form during rowing...after rowing for 1000meters straight through , body gets tired a lot! so many start to slack. it is full body workout and if you come to row/circuit class, you will also get to use weights and do some work on the mat. yay! I do like every instructor. I like how welcome they all are. Recommend

I look forward to walking thru his doors. Brad is approachable, personable and encouraging. The circuit workouts are designed to move at a quick pace. The circuit set will have about 6 different moves . Each move is done for 60 seconds with a ten second rest. Once completing the circuit we have a minute rest. The circuit is repeated 3 times. Arm and abdominals are then done. We wrap up with tabata. Classes are small, tops 8, so he can give attention to all. All fitness levels are welcome. He provides alternatives to make each move harder or easier. It's a very welcoming environment. One that a big box gym is unable to deliver. You will want to bring a towel to the sweat sesh. Water is available for purchase.

4 stars for Amazing classes and great instructors…read more Pros: * 6-7 classes per day. Earliest class at 5am and latest at 6pm * good sized parking lot, do come early to get the best spot. * fantastic trainers: Bjan, Eric and Kimberly are among the favorites. * They do offer a deal when you sign up for the first month. * weekly emails from True Fit regarding health and nutritional issues Cons: * Its quite expensive: $130/month for bootcamp classes or $328/month for classes, diet plan and personal training. Overall, great place to workout. Just wish it was more affordable.

I am more immediate and like that I can still get a challenging workout from a class setting. They have more advanced equipment and machines than just dumbbells and kettlebells that most group workout classes have. As a girl, some of the equipment can be intimidating. But once you give it a shot, you realize how capable you are. They recently moved facilities, so if you ever worked out at their old location...try the new one! It's much bigger, nicer, and in a safer location. Because their classes are pretty large, you won't get much direction on form, but the instructors are still pretty attentive if you're doing something completely wrong. This is a great gym for someone who already knows how to workout but does better with an instructor.
