Love Barry's. First class may be intense when it comes to the sprinting on treadmill, but has gotten so much easier and durable. It's a great workout. You'll either start on weights doing floor/bench work or the tread. I personally like starting on the treadmill because you'll end the workout session on the floor. They offer a stretch at the end, but also make it known you can leave during the stretch by opening the door. I've worked out with kolbie, alex, and ali and they are all dope and have great energy. There's a bathroom with changing area, shower,, basic needs like blow dryer. They provide towels during your workout as well.

To beat rush hour traffic we tried Barry's for the first time for a lunch class in Hyde Park. The class we did was full body. Our instructor Hannah was motivating and funny. Even though it was full body I liked how it seemed to be more organized than other circuit classes, focusing on different areas in each round. You switch between running and weights for 3 rounds. The space is clean with bright red lighting and the loud speakers playing bangers to get you motivated. Fun class, and friendly staff. Definitely a good workout!

One of my favorite places to work out at. The staff is so friendly and it doesn't feel like a gym at all it feels more like a home.

I thought all Life Time's would be like this, but this place is truly unique in the quality of the actual people working there (and the clientele)--they are great! Then I heard about this location opening up on this date, on this date etc. I reached out to check on additional costs since originally it wasn't "included" on our member level. I believe they wanted $300 more on top of the $359 monthly. I told them they can pound sand. Then mysteriously this club was included in our membership. I was pumped to find this out. So I came here for massage today which Bailey did a great job but there are some key things missing with this club. First, no steam room in the Men's locker room? The Kids Academy? All of the kids are in one room together and it's a rather cramped room as well. I asked if there was plans to expand but there is not. I can't imagine brining a baby there because it's loud in there. I went to the Cafe and they were out of 3 types of Shakes - one I asked for before I was told they were out. Also, when I got my message, there was no Hot Tea available. I counted 12 trainers on the floor but only 2 were busy. I felt bad for them. The layout on the gym floor seemed very cramped between equipment. I'm glad they opened but some changes need to be made with this layout if possible esp with all the kids in one room.

This wellness center boasts an efficient layout--compact yet thoughtfully arranged--with plenty of cardio machines, weight stations, and free weights. Locker rooms are clean and functional. The space overall is well-maintained and welcoming. Many staff and member reviews echo the same sentiment: "friendly and helpful staff... always clean." Hours & Convenience The hours are great for working professionals: Monday through Thursday from 5am to 8pm, Friday until 7pm, Saturday until 1pm, and Sunday until noon. After 5:15pm, members get two hours of validated parking at the nearby Fort Brooke Garage--huge bonus in downtown Tampa. The Studio offers small-group training, yoga, and specialty classes throughout the day, with sessions available early in the morning, during lunch, and in the evening. Instructors like Rickey (spin) and others consistently earn praise for being both motivational and engaging. From the front desk team to personal trainers, the staff here make a real impact. They're professional, warm, and ready to help, whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth. The gym feels like a positive, welcoming environment--not overly flashy, just consistent and community-minded. Smack in the middle of Downtown Tampa, just steps from the Riverwalk and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, this YMCA is a wellness oasis for locals and office workers alike. It's a hub for both fitness and outreach, staying connected to the Channelside and Downtown neighborhoods. A few notes: the gym can get a bit busy during peak times (especially lunch), and group fitness classes can be very high-energy--sometimes with music turned up a little too loud. But overall, these are minor quirks in an otherwise stellar facility. Final Verdict 4.5 out of 5 stars -- A solid, well-run fitness center with great staff, solid equipment, and an easy-going atmosphere. If you live or work downtown and want a consistent, welcoming space to get your workout in, this YMCA is a gem.

Even after I showed proof and it was clear I did nothing wrong, no apology was ever given. And even embarrassed me in front of the whole studio. From that point on, the environment completely changed. I was no longer greeted when I came in, and the staff made me feel unwelcome. It got to the point where I felt like I had to come after hours just to avoid interactions, which is not how a paying member should ever feel. On top of that, the workout setup itself is extremely frustrating. You basically can't work out whenever you want because there's only a few classes every few hours, and only three people can sign up per room. Three people in such a tiny sauna is already pushing it, and most of the time classes are full, which makes it feel impossible to actually use the membership you're paying for. $60 for a base membership is ridiculous for what you get and not to mention you can not cancel for free. If you want out it's either $100 or u have to pay and continue for 2 months. It's also worth mentioning that there are overwhelmingly positive reviews because members receive a discount for leaving a good review. I no longer need a discount, so here is the honest truth: this place is not worth it. The workouts are very repetitive, the concept gets old quickly, and the company comes across as very money-hungry rather than focused on member experience. Between being falsely accused, the lack of accountability, the uncomfortable atmosphere, and the impractical class system, this feels more like a scam than a supportive fitness studio. I would not recommend Hotworx to anyone looking for flexibility, fairness, or a welcoming environment.
