When moving from a building to a building the time is important because you need to schedule elevator time etc. The night before my move was when the misery began. At 7:30pm I get an email from Konstantin telling me the movers will arrive between 11-1pm. Expecting rain and now realizing I was not the first stop, I knew this was going to be a huge issue. We booked the morning time slot at the new building and had our whole day planned around being moved in by noon. I emailed Konstantin back and called right away. It says office hours are until 8pm but at 745pm no one was picking up. He never called me and 2 says later still hasn't after repeated requests. He emailed me back at 10pm saying he tried to rearrange the route but couldn't. Not asking me to change or of it would work or thinking about the impact on my move. I also forwarded him multiple emails as late as the day before (Monday) where he confirmed that the crew would be there first thing. NO SUCH LUCK. After asking Konstantin to call me again the morning of our move, I got emailed with lied about the crew being on their way at 9am which was not true and being told the driver would call at 10am and we didn't talk to him until 12:30 after hours of waiting and demanding a call. Our moving day was awful they showed up at 1:15pm. They moved us in and during loading, they dropped a laundry basket, which broke a mug and a scale. All 3 men denied it when asked. They made me wrote something positive on the receipt. In hindsight I realize doing this was not smart but they offered a small discount, after I bothered them about how unhappy in was, and they made it seem like in order to get it, I had to write something positive. When the cable guy arrived at 6pm, he tried to hook up my 50inch LED TV and what do you know, it was BROKEN. HUGE crack in the bottom and wouldn't turn on. The screen is black and it 100% done. I almost feel this was intentional due to the timing hostility. A crack that size doesn't happen without the person causing it knowing. They have been deceitful the up to and during the move. I have reached out to Konstantin right away. I am hoping he does the right thing and offers the customer service he should. I have asked to hear from him by 12pm. To be continued.

We decided to use this moving service to support a local business in Astoria and also discovered that the owner (Moses "BEN" Benliza) lived two blocks away from us. He came to our apartment to inspect the items we had and take photos before providing a quote. Upon delivery, we received 13 boxes of wet, mildewed, damaged boxes which included a large portion of our work clothes, important documents/books, and small electronics (i.e., 3 laptops and routers). Our mattress and was wet/damaged, and they never wrapped two sectional pieces of our cream-patterned banquette couch because they thought the sheet that I laid on top of it just to keep it from getting dirty was sufficient (resulting in a damaged couch and dining table). We are also missing a lampshade because they left it at an auto shop while replacing a flat tire during the move. Our floor got chipped/scratched because one of the elderly, very frail men he hired to unload the truck dropped our armoire. Ben's cousin, Steve, is the driver of the truck, and I was recently informed by another friend who used Benliza's moving services of an equally horrible experience because they arrived five hours late to start the scheduled move after claiming a cat was inside the engine. Please do yourself a favor and find another moving company that doesn't try to take shortcuts. Have a look at the photos I have included and ask yourself if this is how you want your items to arrive. He is unprofessional and has absolutely no idea of how to run a business. I am perplexed as to how he is still operating and wouldn't wish this on my worst enemies. DISHONEST/UNETHICAL/UNPROFESSIONAL/UNPREPARED/UNORGANIZED * has a known leak in the roof of the truck that Ben deliberately chose not to repair but still books moving jobs knowing there could be a risk of water damage to items * did not wrap several items despite charging an additional $630 for wrapping materials (what kind of moving company doesn't wrap a couch or table?!) * made an appointment directly with our building management to deliver items without confirming or notifying us first of the time (we found out from building management that he did it behind our back). * showed up late when picking up and delivering items despite pushing back the appointment time twice * had to leave in the middle of the move 3 separate times to go out and buy wrapping materials when he was already provided an inventory list, had come to take photos, and inspected items in advance * told us there would be three movers to help pack the apartment but only one showed up who had to leave early (hires guys from Craigslist and other hourly handyman moving apps) * the second group of different guys he hired to unload the truck and bring our items into the apartment chipped and scratched our floor (one was a very frail, elderly man, Reggie, who was too weak to lift much of anything) * the two unloading guys had no idea what to do because there was no one there to provide them with instructions (hired them from some random app) * truck is old and he fails to keep it properly updated (got a flat tire while delivering our items which took 3 days to repair because the lug nuts were so rusty and broke off when the auto shop tried to replace them while our things were still loaded on the truck) * failed to provide an update on when our items would arrive (we had to continuously reach out to him to get an answer)

They were 2 hours late for a 9am appointment. It then took them over 6 hours to move our 1 bedroom apartment - and we stopped them before they had reassembled the table and bed frame because we were worried about them damaging things further. They were basically the opposite of Midas' golden touch. It felt like everything they touched was damaged by the end of the move. They didn't know how to properly wrap things (it just so happens that the person I was moving with used to be a mover and was appalled). The were clumsy, careless, and had no hustle whatsoever. This was an elevator building and they blew right past our reservation window. Even my sweet, white haired maintenance man was aghast at their slowness and dawdling. At least 2 of them argued about how the other one was doing something wrong. They claim it took them 2 hours to drive from Lincoln Square to Gowanus because "a street was closed". I drove the same path twice that day (on streets, not highways) in 40 minutes. We actually used google maps at the time of their departure, which said (including traffic and avoiding highways) less than 45 minutes. They were not prepared - no extra boxes (we could've used another large box but the stores were sold out), and they ran out of furniture wrap. They also accidentally left with the hardware to our furniture so that we couldn't reassemble things ourselves without ordering new hardware. We tried to contact them about the missing hardware and the damage to our furniture and never received a response. I waited 2 months to write this review to give them a chance to respond to the calls/emails. Still nothing. The only thing I have to give them credit for, is that In the middle of the move when we called to see about compensation for the excessive lateness in the morning, they gave a discount of the price of 2 movers per hour instead of 3. But after seeing the results of the move, I was nothing but disappointed.

As the owners of a local home, we needed to secure someone quickly to remove the sidewalk accumulation while we were out of town. We were sent a contract which I quickly read--my husband was ill and I was distracted--but I did reply and ask if the contract obligated us in any way after the following day's snowfall, as if we were ourselves able to do the snow removal. The reply was ,"No, you are not obligated. Just let us know when you will be doing it and we will note the list at that time" Mistakenly, I believed this did not obligate us any further, but received a $350 bill for the past two days--when we were again out of town and I was not aware of the approximately 1.6 inches of snow during a storm that impacted the area (as per NWS). When I emailed the company to question the charge as I believed it was in error, I was informed "we do ask that you notify us in advance when you will be handling the snow removal yourselves so we can mark your property accordingly for that event." "Since we did not receive notification prior to the snowfalls on January 17th and January 19th, your property remained on our active service list, and service was completed in accordance with the contract that is currently in effect through December 1, 2026. (We) also want to note that we did not hear from you after the January 17th service, which led us to reasonably proceed with service again on January 19th. For that reason, the invoice reflects services performed on two separate dates and remains due." Legal ? Probably. Unclear? Definitely; IMHO of course. Deceitful? Certainly in my book. Needless to say, I did reply, clearly, today that I wanted to cancel the contract. We actually still do need a company that offers services on an ad hoc basis, but I'll stick with Taskrabbit. It wasn't an easy move! Their final price (based on # of trucks & helpers needed) was in line with what I've paid for other similar home-clearing jobs, too. He also was honest about what might / might not be able to be donated, which was refreshing. Interestingly, we were given their name by another NJ hauler that we've used in the past, and had an excellent experience with, but who didn't service this northern area. They must have a good rep in the junk-hauling community.
