I had a reservation booked via VRBO with Barsala in Tampa, Florida. The reservation was booked for over two months. We were so excited because my brother lives in the same complex and it was going to make our family visit so convenient! 24 hours prior to arrival, the nightmare began. I received a text asking to check-in for my rental and I happily did so. I received all the necessary information - i.e. the unit number, the key codes, rules, etc. My family was excited! Then I received an email from VRBO about 4 hours later (and less than 24 hours from actual check in) stating that my reservation was cancelled. No calls, nothing. Just a generic email from VRBO. I thought it was a mistake and called Barsala directly. How could my reservation be cancelled? It was paid in full and I just received all the detailed check-in info?? The Barsala rep I spoke with didn't have details regarding the reason my reservation was cancelled but she saw it was definitely cancelled in the system. I requested a new unit and she said that there was indeed availability so she booked me a new room. I asked for confirmation many times that I was good to go - and she said yes. She charged my credit card and sent me the confirmation email and recommended I check in immediately via text, which I did. All seemed good to go! Thank goodness, right?!? BUT, as soon as we landed at 2pm, I got a text saying, "we apologize but your reservation has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding". WHAT?!? Less than 3 hours until check in! When I got the text, I was literally walking to the rental car company at the airport. I was traveling with my mother and two children, both under ten! It was a complete and utter disaster. I called demanding answers, and nothing. All I got was that they were overbooked. I requested a call from a manager. All I got was a text saying sorry, they were over booked. To make a long story short, we finally found a hotel room - 25 mins away from where we intended to stay - and paid way more than we anticipated I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OUTFIT AGAIN! I wanted to leave a review on Barsala's site, but they won't let you - not surprised! And I wanted to review via VRBO, but I can't because they cancelled my reservation outright. I will say, Barsala did provide a full refund - twice. And thanks to VRBO, they are very accommodating for the mishap and are paying the difference in price (they've been great to work with). But it was a nightmare and Barsala provided no help or care in making things ok. STAY AWAY! read more

Fantastic location. The location was steps from the commons and a 5 min walk to state street. Easy check in and and out. HIGHLY recommended. Check out Stoddards next door for a drink and JM Curleys for a grilled cheese! The location was taken care of, and Nika was very responsive and helpful. She offered suggestions and links to help me out when I had questions. Nika was easy to communicate with, her instructions were clear, and she was available for questions. The white towels actually looked white, and it looks like they took pride in their location. The apartment was well stocked, but we did end up buying and leaving some laundry detergent there so we could wash out towels. All in all, it was the best AirBNB I have ever booked. I was so disappointed with Barsala; We booked with them a year ago, Before a month we had to move out due to personal reasons; we informed Barsala and asked them that we couldn't continue next month (15 days before we told them before the next month starts), They said that the money could be credited to you and can be used by you for a year. After that, most states they offered had only extended long-term stays (More than 30 days); now our money is just stuck! Neither can we go for a month, Nor can we use that money in any sense! We have explained and written to them explaining the situation, But it has been so challenging to get our money out! If you are paying them, you need to be double careful. My hisband and I travel frequently for his job and I have to say this is one of the worst places we have stayed primarily due to the huge amount of cigarette smoke and constant barking of neighbors dogs. We started seeing red flags right from the start: Barsala wanted us to upload an "ID selfie" without any indication that this data would be treated in a secure way. PCI compliance is necessary in order to safely hold this kind of data, and they are not certified. We emailed them to let them know we're not able to expose ourselves to EXTREME IDENTITY THEFT RISK, and heard nothing back for three days. An "ID Selfie" is the kind of thing you'd need in order to open a bank account, so we were obviously apprehensive of submitting this information through a third party webform (like a Google Form) where we had no indication of who would have access to this info, whether it would be encrypted, etc... Finally, after getting Hotels.com/Expedia involved, we got our check-in information a mere 10 hours before touching down in Seattle. Upon arriving at the apartment, we found at least five major things wrong - the A/C was just sitting in the middle of the room, uninstalled - there were bugs all over the kitchen - the cord for the TV wouldn't even reach the outlet - when we repeatedly attempted to use the un-installed A/C, it tripped the electrical breaker within 60 seconds. We tried other alternative solutions like plugging it into the bathroom, with no success - Many pieces of furniture that were described in the listing were nowhere to be found. This includes a dining table, which was critical for a client meeting we had planned We contacted Barsala's 24/7 customer hotline, and after explaining the problems we had found in the unit, we were just told "the reservation is non-refundable" (in a "go screw yourself" tone). Barsala at no point attempted to resolve any of our concerns. We reached out to the booking site we used for help, and they suggested we book accommodations elsewhere while they discuss this with Barsala. We left our $606 unacceptable reservation, made $648 worth of additional emergency bookings through another service, and left the Barsala apartment having only been in it for an hour. Five days later, the booking site we used tells us they're still working with Barsala to obtain our refund, and will circle back in 24-48 hours. After 48 hours, we receive confirmation that Barsala is unwilling to provide any refund of any kind read more

Cons: the noise from the street was loud at night (ex: people talking, garbage being collected, honking of horns). I was on the 4th floor. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!! DONT DO IT DONT DO IT. I used this company twice. Although my first visit was pleasant my second one has been a nightmare. They "upgraded" my studio rental to a 1 bedroom that I "wouldn't notice a difference" of but that was a LIE. For starters...the unit was on the other side of the building on a busy street so it was extremely loud. Also' the unit was supposed to have a washer and dryer. Something I specificly needed for my work trip because I would be here for awhile. The dryer did not work. When I contacted Alma about it she said maintenence would come service it on monday ( I notified them on saturday) im writing this review wednesday and guess what...dryer still doesn't work. ON TOP of that this unit came with parking' except on arrival there was no parking pass. I let alma know. She took all my car information and told me i would get a guest pass... never got a guest pass and MY CAR WAS TOWED OUT OF THE LOT. Did I mention I am here on business now with no clean clothes and no car. I have been trying to reach Barsala to have the tow lot release my car and NO ONE seems to be able to help me. No one' not even airbnb could get ahold of the Barsala Manager (alma) and they are now telling me I will have to pay the fee to get my vehicle out of the impound. Barsala has been unresponsive and very unhelpful throughout this whole ordeal and I would suggest NOT using this company. They are unorganized and the fact that for the last 12 hours no one has been able to get ahold of their "manager" who manages this property is ridiculous. read more

I booked a month's stay at an apartment in Milpitas, CA. After reserving, I discovered hidden additional fees and monitoring devices inside the apartment. These weren't disclosed in the property listing. I found out about the monitoring devices by reading the FAQ in the check-in email. The company refused to cancel my reservation and issue a full refund. Their customer support seems outsourced and unprofessional. They make empty promises and no one from their corporate has emailed me back. I filed complaints with the CA State's Attorney General, the CA Dept of Consumer Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau. FRAUD, Not to be Trusted In May 2021 I made a reservation for October 2021. I paid the room amount at the time of booking, and then a couple days ahead of time went through the full check-in process with additional credit card hold, all going seamlessly and feeling good. I was ready to fly into my destination for a wedding and check into the residence. Little did I know that the property did not actually exist. It wasn't until a friend of mine who was also staying there that weekend informed me that he never received any check-in instructions and on the day we we were supposed to check in he called them and they said the property did not exist. While his situation seemed worse than mine at the time, I quickly realized that I should call as well to confirm. I did and they subsequently told me that my entire check-in was for a place that did not exist anymore. Thus, both of us had nowhere to stay 5 hours ahead of arriving to our destination. If I had not had a friend who happened to inform me of this, I would've showed up to a place that didn't exist with all my luggage and nowhere to stay that night. No heads up, full check-in process, credit card holds, etc. This is unbelievable how close this was to happening. Well, I wanted to like this company but they gave all of the Barsala tenants in my building 10 days to move out. They had a falling out with the apartment Complex Stazione 25 and it affected all of the Barsala tenants. They should have fulfilled their contractual agreements to just let the tenants finish out the month , but instead we were blindsided by evictions. I didn't even get the notice but was informed by another tenant that was residing in the building. I work 12.5 hour shifts since I work in healthcare so after I worked my three days in a row , I really only had a few days to look . We stayed at the 104 pine location in downtown seattle. When we first looked it up, the places looked really nice. I did not pay for a view, but I was not expecting to look my bedroom window to see someone else's open window across a wierd alley that only exists inside the building. Not the worst thing, but it was wierd. Could not find the dishwasher mentioned in the booking and checkout email. The apartment was clean and neat as pictured, but the walls are so thin I heard everything in the stairwells and even other floors. I was not told the elevator was broken when I booked the 4th floor, so that was not a fun surprise late at night with no concierge to help with bags. There is no one onsite, but they are quick to answer phones when you call. People smoked cigarettes heavily on our floor despite signs saying not to, so I resorted to a rolled up towel under the front door to help with the smell. Did not know which room it was so I did not bother to call and complain. Overall the apartment itself was as pictured and very cozy, but I prefer at least some privacy when speaking or looking out a window. I would recommend, but be prepared read more

BARSALA is the WORST company! DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! I booked their property in Seattle- a 2 bedroom apartment. A couple days before they sent me instructions on what to do upon arrival. (We had a late pm flight and arrived at 12:30 am). They said the apartment door would be unlocked. When we arrived, the door was LOCKED! I immediately called the number they provided and got no answer. I left about 3 messages within the following 15 minutes and finally got a text message from them saying they were looking into it! A TEXT message, no phone call! I responded to the text to call me and got NOTHING!! Finally about 1 hour later I got a text message that they were sending us to A DIFFERENT property! After arriving at the 2nd PROPERTY we went to the security/concierge as instructed and we are told there was somebody already in that apartment! I texted and called BARSALA again, NO RESPONSE!! An hour later and after calling over 5 hotels- we were able to find a hotel that had a room for us to get into for the night. It was 2:30 am at this point! It was Spring break and the Mariners were playing in town and everything was booked! The following morning I get a text message saying, "just following up on your check in and want to make sure everything went smooth." Are you kidding me???? I also got an email which I responded back to ALL on the email (there were about 5 people from Barsala on the email) letting them know what a joke they are! Do I get any responses? NOPE! NOTHING again!! Then the next day I get "check out instructions" via text and email!!!! Still after 3 days - No phone call from Barsala!!! Finally, the afternoon of Day 3 - I got a phone call! Because of their screw up and having to be in a hotel room rather than a 2 bedroom apartment, our 22 year old daughter had to stay with a friend 25 minutes out of Seattle and drive back and forth everyday - more money and time wasted! read more
