It's just 40 minutes from our home, connected by a land bridge to Gig Harbor, so no ferry is necessary. This is our go-to island getaway spot! The kitchen is well-stocked, and the upstairs loft bedroom very comfortable. There are lots of great features in the area -- hiking trails, a fishing dock, and a nice beer garden. Mikes Beach Resort is a quaint place to stay on hood canal. Its rustic charm gives you that "back…read morein the day" feel. The view from my room was amazing! Waking up every morning to a beautiful beach and waterfront. There was a private picnic table right outside our door. They also offer rooms without a view for a more economical stay or glamping in yurt like accommodations. There's a bbq area and fire pit where we enjoyed live music on Saturday night. Our days were filled with hiking and kayak adventures! The resort offers clamming and crabbing (permits might apply). They even had a soda machine! There are several restaurants to choose from within 5 miles. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the area and gave recommendations on places to see. There was a bit of noise from traffic as we were close to the main road. But it always died down around 10 pm and didn't start up till late morning. The room we had was small but there were end tables with sufficient outlets, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a few cups and dishes along with everything needed for a cup of coffee in the morning. I had forgotten to bring my tea and was a bit disappointed that there were no tea bags in the room. But there was a grocery store not far down the road.. I could have used a few more hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels or clothes. But other than that, it was an awesome stay!

Basically, the owner made an offer in an email that she did not keep and reserved the cabin out from under us a few days before our trip. Here are the details: I wrote Rita an email asking about the cost for a three night stay. She wrote back with a final cost and I confirmed via phone call. I gave over my full name, credit card info and home address. She then called back and said she was sorry, but the price she'd quoted me was incorrect because she'd based it on two nights rather than three. She owned the mistake and gave me a new price reflecting three nights. I agreed to the new price initially, and she sent over a contract to sign before 7pm that evening. After speaking with my wife, we decided the new price was simply too high so I wrote Rita to cancel. She apologized again and offered one of the nights for free to make up for the mistake. She said she'd email me a new contract to reflect this adjustment. I said that was wonderful. She wrote back shortly after to say that she was sorry, but someone else had begun to reserve those dates and she'd write back if they fell through. Ok? So here I'd gone 95% of the way through the process, received an offer in no uncertain terms, and had it retracted at the last minute ostensibly to earn more dollars from another client. I didn't post screen shots of our emails here as a courtesy. If it's your first time staying here I'd strongly consider other options first given the customer service issues I'd encountered so early in the process.

We stayed for five days at the end of June and the first weekend of July. The guest quarters had…read morejust been completed and they were immaculate! The granite counter tops and tiled floors in the kitchen and bathroom were beautiful and the living area was exceptionally clean. Each bedroom was about the same size and had plenty of room for belongings including a good sized closet as well as a large dresser. There is a view of Liberty Bay from the windows and water access from the property, which we took advantage of as crab season opened the weekend we were there. Wade and Julia, the owners, were very accommodating and Wade even pointed us in the right direction to fill our limit on crab that weekend. The Guesthouse is central to everything we wanted to do in Poulsbo. It's a 3 minute drive to downtown, with great shops, especially Sluy's Bakery (the best doughnuts/pastries ever). It's about a five minute drive to to the local casino, where we enjoyed an evening of relaxing, low-stakes gambling and it's about 15 minutes to the ferry landing when we wanted to enjoy a couple of days sightseeing in Seattle. I can't say enough good things about our experience at the Lemolo Greenhouse Guesthouse. Very highly recommended!
