Despite the fact that Ive had numerous confrontations with disgruntled BART passengers (the homeless lady who insisted I move away from her because my perfume was too strong, the drugged-out dude mouthing obscenities at me for no apparent reason except that I was sitting across from him) I am still hopelessly devoted to BART. The Walnut Creek station is perfect for a trip downtown, and I can get straight to SFO airport in one hour, for less than $10. I do wish BART ran later than 12:30am so we could all stay out dancing a bit longer. Also wish they allowed food and drink, though I understand the logic. They do an okay job keeping the trains clean, though I worry about where the stains on the seats come from. I noticed that other cities like Vancouver and London have much tighter security on thier mass transit - cops on every train- which would make BART feel a lot safer. But with CA's budget I wont hold my breath for that wish. read more

This is my favorite BART station in the East Bay, with one exception: the parking SUCKS! Minus one star for you, Walnut Creek! Don't get there after 7:30 a.m. if you want to find a parking spot, any spot at all. One morning after 20 minutes of circling, I had to resort to a parking garage across the street for $10 a day. Sheesh. However, I would be remiss if I did not extrapolate on how great this BART station is (minus the parking dilemma). Conveniently off the freeway? Check. Covered parking? Check (if you can get there early enough). Clean, safe area? Check. A BART train to SF/Daly City every five minutes? Yes!!! I'm in love already. Just don't forget to pay the $1 parking fee, easily payable by using your BART ticket. I admit it, I forget sometimes, and since Walnut Creek overflows with parking nazis, you are definitely NEVER going to get lucky if you don't pay. read more

I always love the outdoor BART stations, its nice to get some fresh air before i get crammed in a train. Looking at previous bad reviews, i complete disagree with their negative comments, yes it is under construction, but the construction is never a burden to the riders and is never in the way. Parking is actually super easy as it has ground parking AND a huge parking garage. And the daily fee isn't that bad, and in the afternoon parking is free. And the trains are always dependable, and on time. And more importantly, it is very safe. I come into the bay from sacramento and I will always use this bart rather than the berkeley barts because there is less commute traffic and easier parking. it is also right off the freeway with easy to spot direction signs. read more

Awful. -Always under construction, but no noticeable improvements. -parking is extremely difficult and costs $1.50. Parking tickets are $40. -trains are undependable and it's not a safe or comfortable experience. read more

For all my fellow BART riders I am not asking you to do what I did but please be aware. Today I got on BART and the train was already filled. Each of the seats reserved for handicapped and eldery people was filled by able bodied people. At walncut creek an elderly gentleman with a cane got one and NOT ONE person offered to get up. NOT ONE. In fact some looked at him and looked away. I had no problem very loudly stating and glaring "For shame on all of you, not ONE of you will get up for this gentleman???" Even then one lady rudely stated that she was tired. Thankfully a young man halfway down the train got up. I spent the rest of my ride glaring at the rude people who could have stood for the 20 minutes it took them to get off the train. (more than half of these people tenasfered at mcaruthur. PLEASE STAND UP for the people who need it, figurativly and literally LIterally disgusted with the people who ride this portion of the train and that makes me hate this station. The ass hats that get on and off here think they are gods gift to the world. They are rude and frankly just wastes of oxygen. This station has poor parking, the cabbies are always in the way, the homless people congregate like mad guppies waiting for bits of floatsam and it seems that there is always repair work going on. That being said this station represents the worst part of my commute. I have decided to start a blog called douche bags on bart, I see so much of it twice a day that maybe if people find otu they are being describe on bart they will stop being such a twat. read more

I went to this BART station for the first time ever this morning and had the WORST experience. And I blame it ALL on their horrible parking availability. I just moved to Danville from Pleasanton and had been using the Dublin/Pleasanton station to get to work in Berkeley. I was tempted to just use the Dublin/Pleasanton station out of familiarity, but I would have had to have be there at 7:30am to catch the same line I would have gotten on if I went to Walnut Creek at 7:55am. On my way to Dublin, I figured I probably wouldn't make the 7:30am train and turned around to brave the Walnut Creek station despite never having been there during morning commuter hours. I got to WC at 7:30am, figuring I had plenty of time to park and get in for the 7:55am train. The parking garage was FULL. There were several cars driving in/out/around looking for a spot. The outside lot was FULL. And trying to navigate your way around there feels like a maze, since their signage is very poor and/or non-existent. I ended up going in a few circles before following a parade of cars down a small side street behind the BART parking garage. That led me to a "Public Parking" sign, to which I entered the first garage entrance I saw. After finding a spot and telling the nearby valet that I was there for the day and was heading to the BART station, the valet told me that the garage was private and only for those using the building above it. By this point, I had already missed my train just trying to park, and fortunately was directed to the real "public parking" garage right across from the private one I just wasted my time in. The daily charge was $10, but I had to get to work and didn't know where else to park. The parking garage ended up being across the street from BART, but I still had to walk around and through the entire outside parking lot just to get to the BART entrance. To top it off, the train was totally packed and I didn't get a seat until my transfer point. As soon as I got back to the station this evening, I go to leave the parking garage and, as my fabulous luck would have it, they don't accept debit/credit cards. Cash or check only, which I hardly ever carry. So I had to back up, repark, and walk my pissed off ass across the street to a bank, just to get charged an extra $3 surcharge. Which pretty much came down to a grand total of $13 for parking for the day, when I should have only paid $1. Getting stuck in traffic on the way home was just icing on the cake. I'm going to take all of this as a major sign and stay away from this BART station. Sure it's in a good part of town and looked clean enough (that was really the last of my worries at the time so I wasn't paying that much attention), I'd still rather add an extra 20 minutes to my BART ride than have to deal with WC's inadequate parking situation (it evens out, since you spend over 20 minutes just looking for a spot, anyway). read more

So disappointed. A new private parking lot opened and then BART closed half their lot and stopped the valet parking! I was told to pay $18/day vs the $3 in the BART lot or go to another station if I don't get a spot. BART is supposed to make it easier for commuters. Not so much. read more

I've decided that to round out the BART review I did of my 3-star home station of Hayward, I'd also post one for my idea of a 1- and 5- star station, to give a good idea of what I look for in a BART stop, if anything. Walnut Creek was a favorite spot of my ex's to go on dates, so I found myself at this particular station quite often. Friendly, quiet, and (most important for a BART station) devoid of gunfire, I've often been at this station past 11 with my biggest concern being for my cell phone battery's life, and not my own. read more

The one thing I probably love most about the Walnut Creek BART station is how close it is not only to my place of work, but to downtown Walnut Creek as well. It's about as convenient as you can get. The station is for the most part always clean. It does get quite packed at all times of the day, but even at those times it's easy to get in and out of the station without running anyone over. They have a massive parking lot and parking garage that is never completely full so you can always have a place to park. The one thing that confuses me, and it's with every BART station, is why does one escalator only going up on one side of the platform, and one escalator going down on the other. I'm not trying to promote laziness; it just feels a little odd to me. That one very minor gripe aside, this station is awesome. read more

Dear Bart Agent, Thank you for your lecture about how to use the ticketing system after my sincere apologies for not realizing the unique set of rules to the BART system ( which i had never taken before today!). Thank you for accusing me of trying to "piggyback" on my husbands ticket when we genuinely did not realize we each needed our own separate tickets on this lovely 4th of july holiday. I appreciate your misinformation that that is how public transportation works EVERYWHERE else and how dare i not know this. However I would've liked to correct you and inform you that in New York City where i have lived, that was NOT the case and many times i used one MTA card for multiple people. I bit my tongue and let you ride your ego trip so I could just get the situation fixed and get to Embarcadero (where they could've cared less that we decided to put $20 on one ticket instead of two for our round trip visit to the bay if that matters to you!). But really, a respectable tax paying visitor to walnut creek really needs to be threatened with a $250 fine on the fourth of July, that is cool too! read more

First Star: For having friendly employees Second Star: Easy to find bus area with clear signs of all bus route numbers. Third Star: For the little snack bar where you can get chips, hot dog, soda, candy. Missing Two Stars: I could not find the bus schedules. There is no ATM. Therefore making the snack stand inaccessible for folks who don't carry cash, the buses inaccessible also, even with a transfer. My Story: I asked the lady at the window where I could find an ATM. I was told to go to the gas station across the Street... well, that ATM didn't take my card. So I had to walk to Target and get cash back from a purchase, all for $1 for the bus. By the time I got on the bus I was sweaty and had blisters on my feet because I didn't wear walking shoes (since I wasn't expecting to be walking so much!). Apparently the busses don't take Clipper, You have been warned! read more

For a BART station, this is one of the nicer ones. It is an outdoor station, which is refreshing. The escalators are usually working here, unlike the ones in the city. Just outside of the station, there's easy access to the bus system if toy need. Tip - If you're parking here, better there early because the spaces go quick. read more

Clean, great freeway access, tons of parking. I've left my car there overnight and there was no ticket, no break-in, perfect! This is definitely where I start my trips to Giants games, SFO. Can't beat the convenience. read more

Ok, things W.C. BART definitely needs to work on: - Parking!!! (although I live around the corner, it's still a huge problem for commuters) - Frequency of outbound trains on this line (although with the new 2008 schedule, this has improved a little) Things W.C. BART has got down: - It's clean - Attendants are pretty friendly and helpful - Nice view from the platform The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the parking, but a new "Transit Village" is in the works (see: http://www.ci.walnut-creek.ca.us/pdf/planning/WCBART/WCBART_DRCSSppt050906.pdf , particularly page 24 and on for details). This is my favorite Bart Station to use when I know I'm gonna be out late. The area is safe and well lit. From the times I've been here, I haven't seen any suspicious people lingering around the station and I've spotted a few BART police cars in the parking lots. There also isn't a lot of trash on the ground and is one of the cleaner Bart stations I've been to. I'm always able to find plenty of parking when I come here but I usually BART on the weekends. There's a parking lot on the outside and a 3-4 (I can't remember exactly) story parking garage. I have yet to come here on a weekday morning so I'm not entirely sure if there's enough parking for everyone. The location is near downtown Walnut Creek which has lots of food places if you feel the need to eat. The station is also not too hard to find and is only about 5 minutes from the freeway which is very convenient. I use this location a lot and haven't had any real problems. read more

TIP: Not enough parking. Look into a bus and park in a residential neighborhood. Seriously though, top to bottom and all outer lots, it was packed at 10am and it was a weekday. From other reviews I have read this is normal. Looks like it is time to expand this place. I ended up parking at a near by parking garage and paid $12 for the whole day. Still it is not bad compared to parking in the city. Other than not having any parking it was relatively clean and my lady said the bathroom was clean-ish. Ahhhh we don't expect much from a parking garage and BART Station, except a parking spot and a place to pee. I gave it a 3-star review because of lack of parking, in hopes they expand it in the near future. Something I think is highly unlikely. read more

Apparently the review here were very old regarding the cleanliness, now the Station is dirty, especially if you use the elevator, I can see the same trash for months in that elevator. The same trash in the parking building as well for months. I use to go to East Dublin and they are much cleaner. The parking is full by 7:30am, especially on tue-thu. read more

The best part of this BART station can be discovered in the summer when you come from the city. Pick a day where it's cloudy/foggy in the city, get on BART, when the doors open to Walnut Creek, feel the hot blast of air :) Otherwise, it's just a BART station :) read more

Something of a confusing Bart station. Apart from the ongoing construction, if you aren't familiar with the station, it's easy to go out the wrong way. One of the car parks has no exit, so don't wander in. Go a different way, and you're on the road with no sidewalk. Still, an OK station, but not quite as nice as Lafayette. read more

My home BART station. The best thing about this BART station is they have parking and a bus stop and both are easy to find. The BART station is an easy walking distance from downtown Walnut Creek and right next to the freeway. This gives you easy access no matter how you want to get to BART. I usually walk the ~20 minutes over, but the times I am feeling lazy or the weather is not not conducive to walking the parking is only $1 or free on the evening and weekends. For a BART station, everything is relative here, it is clean and neat. They even have bathrooms if you absolutely need one though they are a bit meh. The best part about BART is being able to sit and do something else for a trip to San Francisco that would take just as long if you drove, and maybe longer after parking and if there is traffic. read more

Best BART station I've been too! Parking is easy, plenty of covered parking in the garage as well as non covered parking on both sides of the station. Picking up/dropping off is easy as there are designated zones right in front of the pay station for that. I've used this BART station to go to SF plenty of times as well as have met here with other drivers to carpool... definitely I always feel safe here and the location is great. I always see people walking around the station near midnight, and the taxi line is always ready for you if you need. It's right off of 680, and from here you can easily get to 680 N and S or 24 in a minute or so. If you're waiting for someone here, you can also take a quick stroll over to Target to kill time. On weekends, parking is free... feel free to leave your car here all day! My buddies have left cars here on a Friday night, and come back from Tahoe late Sunday with everything still in one piece. This is also a great place if you need to go to Giants games from the East Bay... straight to embarcadero and then to muni leads you to the game. Absolutely love this station... BART itself.... and the trains.. that's a different story. Don't be afraid to use this station! read more

During M-F commute hours parking is not easy at all. Weekend parking is no problem. There are plenty of garages within walking distance if you can't find a spot. Most of the parking shortage is due to earthquake retrofitting that has closed a significant portion of the parking lot. Otherwise this is a great station. Target, 24 hour fitness, fast-food, gas station, freeway on/off ramp all within 1/2 mile or less of the station. There is a free trolly that does a broadway plaza loop every 20 minutes or so. Bart-fare machines never really have lines and most people heed to the right-of-way rule on the escalator too... read more

Walnut Creek is a really nice BART station conveniently located next to Target and has the free shuttle that brings you to and from Downtown Walnut Creek. For the most part it is a safe station and does not have shady people just standing around. Most of the people there are just folks trying to get to and from work or school. I have not come across any trouble makers. It is clean compare to other stations I have been to and the staff are pretty friendly. I once forgot my parking stall number and they let me leave real quick to review my parking spot. My only complaint (but is probably about BART in general) is just the lack of parking after 7:15am. By 7:10-7:15am, you have get a little aggressive and make sure you snag a spot before they are all gone! read more

I have forgotten how much I like this Bart station! Today I stopped at this station for the first time in two years. My favorite thing about this station is that they have bus stops right outside of the fare gate - meaning I can easily hop on (more like run to) inter city busses (including busses to Fairfield & Vacaville). The station is clean and conveniently located across the street from Target. There have been many times I have wandered into Target while waiting for a bus. Bathrooms here are still dirty, but are much better than some of the other BART restrooms I've used. I almost died trying to use the restroom at Bay Fair! This is my usual starting point of my destination being closest to my abode. Occasionally for parking purposes I will try Lafayette. WC is convenient and fairly clean. Parking can be a bitch on any given weekday, though there is a paid lot across the way in one of the office bldg. around $10 max for all day parking (near the California side) that works in a pinch. I've done many a pick up of my kidlets over the years as they commuted to schools in SF. And it's easy access to 680, though the light coming off 680 @ Ygnacio seems like a hundred years if you miss it. There's a vendor dude usually outside the front for a quick water or bag of chips or snack to get you to your next stop, and even though it's an outside platform it is a bit more sheltered than most. Oh and it does have a glorious view of Mt. Diablo for your visual pleasure while waiting for that next train if you just missed the last one. (Not bad BART). read more

I commute to San Francisco for work so I'm a frequent rider of BART and WC is my go-to location. PROS: - great location right off the freeway - cleaner than most stations - within walking distance to Target and other places like my dealership - parking structure so you don't have to walk far - arrival times of trains is frequent during commute hours - nice view from atop the parking structure and from the BART platform (I've taken pictures of the view before) CONS: - the parking! I like how its layed out in a structure and back parking lot but it needs more spaces! the place fills up so fast! - during election time I was getting bombarded with voting stuff when exiting the station - people are stupid and don't know how to navigate the parking garage (but I guess that's not BART's fault) read more

It's not as ratchet like the other Bart stations. Crowded parking lot after 7am. Crowded bart trains even though trains run every 5 minutes during the morning commute. Empty parking lots on the weekends. Empty trains. But trains run every 20 minutes. The nice part is that people actually form a line to get on to Bart just like New York. read more

I'll start by saying that I'm somewhat biased as this is my hometown station. However, upon inspection of other stations I would say that Walnut Creek station is typically cleaner, better illuminated, and more often has a police officer present than other stations - who doesn't like feeling safe? I've also found that the attendant in the booth is attentive and helpful whenever we have questions. The bus service from the station on weekdays is also a well-organized ballet. The bus drivers have always been friendly and attentive to the needs of us passengers. Assigning a score to a public service is a somewhat strange concept because I don't feel like anyone will really take ownership even if something could be improved. Even so, my hometown station gets a 4 out of 5 from me. read more

For an old Bart this station actually is pretty clean. I just can't wait for them to build the transit station here so I can buy a condo. Just hope that they don't over use the "Low Income" practice, as it attracts a bad group of people. Somehwere I just want to get out of. Oh and theres plenty of shops to go around here. The cons: after this station, you may not be likely to get a seat out to the city, or worst not even get a seat at all. During commute times, It is pack on the Pittsburg Bay Point Line. Boy I just wish I live in WC because I do everything here, and there is nothing or nowhere I want to go to in Pittsburg. If I go further into the "REAL" pittsburg, all you find are gangs, smelly, dirty people. I am really sensitve to odors so Pittsburg is just not my thing. read more
