YAY a Polish market close to me in Manchester! I had been wanting to check out the Bartlett Street Superette now for some time and I made it there today. A small corner store in West Manchester tucked away in a residential area. Inside a few rows of Polish imports- krout, pickles, jams, breads, cookies, frozen foods like pierogies, and a deli with homemade cold cuts, cheese, head cheese, sausages, etc. My scores of the day included: -Pierogies -Pickles -Sweet & sour red cabbage -Sage Tea -Vegeta (seasoning) -Bacon -Ham stuffed with bacon -Smoked Kiebalsa The owner seemed very nice and the store was pretty busy. My only suggestion would be that the deli items be labeled with name and price. read more

Ok so my family is not right off the boat from Poland but if you are selling ethnic foods in America don't expect your customers to know how to read polish. I walked in at the same time one of the owners went in. He opened the door and let it shut within seconds of me coming behind him. 3 people inline at deli counter. So I asked the kid at cashier if the had perogies. 2 words "sold out". Ok second question. Do you have Borscht? "On shelf on left". I go and look. There is like 8 different beet items all with Polish spelling but nothing says "Borscht". No help.... nothin. This could be a hidden gem if the owners did it because they wanted a destination grocery. Instead it's a tired corner convenience store that sells polish packaged foods. read more

My husband just got to the market and on the door is a sign saying new store hours 11am-5pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It would be nice to post this on Facebook and let people know. You call the store, regardless if they are open or not they do not answer the phone, and no answering machine. Think we are going to go back to Wally's in Haverhill, Mass. They carry the same pierogi and kielbasa and they are open all week! read more

I'm from Western MA area originally where there is a large Polish community such as in Chicopee, Chicopee Falls, Westfield now, Indian Orchard and so on....I live in Dracut MA so it's always disappointing not to have the luxury of Western MA for food and groceries so I make my pilgrimage back every so often. I was searching for a Polish Bakery or Deli or grocery again and came across Bartlett Street so I said I'll make the short drive. I was so excited and happy to find this place where I got some great Polish rye, kielbasa, pierogis (there good but no one can beat my wifes ) and so on. I'm so happy to discover this place. Meh. It's the only one around so that's why most people go here. It's not clean. The food is often out of date. Parking can be dangerous. The woman at counter won't speak to you if you don't speak Polish. read more

The name of the shop is misleading. It's a Polish food store, not an American supermarket. This small (though not tiny) store is great for stocking up on Polish staples - pierogis, sausage, kapusta, mustards, jams, pastries, etc. The prices are reasonable and the selection of meats is very good. There are lots of fresh cold cuts and other items such as Kishka. It's not as big as the markets in Boston or Salem, but it's very good to have near by to purchase the basics. read more

This is a Polish market in a residential area of Manchester. The store is quite large for an ethnic grocery with a good amount of frozen and packaged items. They have several types of pierogis with some interesting fillings in the freezer section. The shelves are full of interesting items including multiple brands of bottled saurkraut. The star of the store is the deli area. The head cheese was delicious and they had other deli meats equally as good. The variety of smoked sausage was enormous and I hope to work my way through all of the different types. They also have a selection of smoked fish. read more

Small shop. Most of the labels aren't in English, so it can be hard to get more than a basic idea of what's in whatever product you're looking at. They have German, Polish, Turkish, and even some Italian food. The breads smelled delicious, but i can't eat gluten so I didn't get to try them. the store had a pretty big selection of desserts based on its size. Downtown Manchester and the west side are lacking good neighborhood markets. When I read the generally good reviews of this market, I thought I had found a new place to shop for basics. After visiting on a weeknight and finding a very limited selection of food, and most of it frozen or boxed, I realized this isn't the place I'm looking for. It does have a wide selection of pierogi and some polish deli meat, but other than that, I probably won't be making the trip across the river to shop here. read more

Prior to stepping inside this establishment, I wonder what kind of attitude I'll receive when either ordering product behind the counter or simple questions like are you out of this, will you be carrying this in the future? The answers I get back are very unfriendly, rude and blunt. As if I was bothering them or interrupting. I've talked to other patrons which also include polish people, agree to my statements about the store. I'm proud about my half polish heritage because I've learned from my polish relatives how to make most polish foods especially for the holidays. I'll be shopping elsewhere for sure or the internet. read more

I used to buy pierogies from the freezer section in the grocery store... No More!! After looking at the list of ingredients in those things i decided i needed to find some local, handmade ones. I found the Bartlett St. Suprette through a yelp search and stopped in last week on my way home. They have their own handmade pierogies in the freezer and also about 3-4 other local (Massachusetts and Vermont) brands. I bought 4 bags of their homemade pierogies. The cost is $8.99 per bag and there are about 12 pierogies per bag. My boyfriend and I had a friend over for dinner and we ate almost all of them! They were so delicious. They only had meat filled pierogies that were their own homemade ones, but they had many varieties from the other local producers. I highly recommend going here if you love Polish food. read more

The only time I visit West side Manch is to come here. They are (I believe) the only Polish food store in the area, and they have a pretty good selection. Here you can find typical Polish staples such as kielbasa, perogies, jams, meats, etc. Prices are reasonable and quality is good. It's a small market so you won't find everything here, but a good place to stop in when you want to mix it up a bit. read more

My family has been long-term customers of this little store. Yes, the name is deceiving and if you didn't know it, it is a best kept secret for Polish loving foodees on Manchester's west side. We love their pierogies because they are both delicious and don't contain weird ingredients you can't pronounce like the grocery store carries. Yes, to my surprise, this place is more of an ethnic store. It is much closer than Golemos in Worcester MA and with all the Polish goodies you would want. They have the slim smoked sticks, I think they are kielbasa, and the kids and teenagers love em. They carry several different kinds of smoked kielbasa, and the garlic and pepper is excellent. The Guompkis were frozen, but they cooked up great to my surprise, even those with a darker green look. Never had the courage to get kiska, blood sausage, before until I bought it here, delicious, but a tough sell on the family - they do not know what they are missing. P.S. If you have children, the hippos at the counter are a European favorite and worth getting for them for being well behaved in the store. read more

Out of the way superette .. that specializes in Polish sausages; Polish pierogi of 5 different varieities; polish breads. OVer the past 3 years my family has found their products to be tasty. the Pierogi are all frozen and the sausages are all smoked .. The baked breads are fresh so you need to watch the dates.. They also have a good deal of Polish Products straight from Poland .. pickles; kraut; etc. along with general grocery products .. Sausages are made elsewhere and counter help is not always familiar with ingredients and differences in their products. As with all freshly made or smoked sausages, one must be careful of the addition of MSG, monosodium glutamate that can also be in the product under a different label .. ie . hydrolyzed or autolyzed could contain large amounts of monosodium glutamate... important for people who suffere reactions from this food additive .. it is not a presrvative .. Speak both english and polish to their patrons .. read more

I have shopped here for years. They used to be very reasonably priced but in the past year or two prices have gone way out of line (which seems to coincide with no customers being in the store anymore, it used to always be busy in there no matter what day it was. Now seeing 2 customers at the same time is like they are packed!!). All of their Pierogi's are all frozen and are way over priced at $8.00 for a dozen. We used to lover the kelbasa here all though it still remains reasonable somewhere along the line the recipe has changed and become very hamey.... tasting?? and what they pass off as double smoked kelbasa is not! Problem is as far as I can see, they are the only place left in this town that still carries Polish products other then the Hilshire kelbasa at the large super markets! read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!!! I am originally from Eastern Europe and was very excited to learn about this Polish Superette and even drove a little over an hour to get to this place. I bought a lot of merchandise from this store just last week. When i got home only at that time did i notice that most of them had expired. I found numerous items on the shelves that were way past their expiration dates. The label at the back say: Use by 31/08/2010. it means August 31st , then it had expired 5 months ago. I am very shocked to say the least. How are you going to have expired food products on the shelves... makes me wonder what you're selling in the deli and the bakery. I do believe that this is more than enough to stop me from shopping at this store. I will never go back! read more

Yeah, I found much better Polish food stores when I was in Krakow, Polska, but being realistic here in NH, this is great. I travel from the Concord area to shop here. I love the imported stuff, and though the usa made chrushiki and pierogis aren't exactly what Babcia made, they are also of very good quality. The babkas and poppy seed rolls, and other baked goods are also excellent. After thinking about the store to write this I have decided to make another trip there today. Smacznego! read more
