VERY compassionate vet and staff! I had to take my elderly cat here last minute as an emergency. My cat had to be humanely put down, she had suffered sudden seizures for the first time in her life the night before, and it left her brain dead. I didn't want her to suffer anymore. I was originally taking her to my regular vet, but the road to that vet was closed and I couldn't find another route. My cat was still alive, but completely limp and brain dead. Not only was Barton Heights willing to see us despite the last minute situation, but they were EXTREMELY kind and understanding. The fee was very fair and cheap, they gave me a free Paw Print mold and casket for my cat, with her name on it. Highly recommend them! read more

I'm taking back all the stars I gave on the prior review. They suck you in with that first $25 vet visit, after that it's $107.50 ++++. Been there June 2 and it was under $200 for a bad ear infection because the visit was only $25. Take her back in two weeks and she still has an ear infection. That visit was $310 because I had them cut her nails ($65). It's less than two weeks and she has the ear infection again but no oral antibiotics this time. Sure bring her back for a culture w/sensitivities for $315. NO, I'm not kidding. I'm done. Need a new vet. read more

We have been with them for many years ! This is our second pet with them or last pet was 15 years when she passed and we now have our little old lady who is 10 and have been with Barton height for 10 years Although it's a little pricey, we have always gotten excellent care with our pets. We had to rush our beloved Cat Jack there reluctantly on Monday July 3rd as he was crashing and we had no choice but to let him go. I brought my dog in because he would not eat and was vomiting. They only examined him visually and did not perform bloodwork or x rays. The vet prescribed antibiotics and when I asked why the meds without knowing what is the medical issue, I was lied to. He told me that my dog had a virus. I fell for it. Bought the meds and attempted to administer at home. My dog refused to open his mouth for the meds - something he had NEVER done before. My dog kept losing conciousness. When I brought my dog back to this horrible hospital, they yelled at me saying "Why didn't you being him in sooner?????!!! He is on death's door and now needs exploratory surgery!" Mind you, I did "bring him back sooner". I brought him back the next morning after the vet decided to sell me drugs without knowing what is wrong with my dog. They almost killed him. I took him to a different animal hospital, where they performed bloodwork and x rays. My dog had an intestinal obstruction. If only Barton Heights had paid attention. Our 11 year old dachshund to this point was always healthy, suddenly started experiencing mild tremors and balance issues. We called for him to be seen...it took approximately 2-1/2 hours to be seen by a vet for 5 minutes. He said there is a protocol for this issue, so they gave him 4 shots,(for vomiting, nausea, steriod, and an anti biotic) and sent him home with oral antibiotic. He never had any vomiting issues which they were told. The next couple days he had three major seizures, the third one, we thought we lost him. We needed to return urgently...arriving around 4:00pm, we were told he would be seeing Dr. Corona. We patiently sat in waiting room for 1-1/2 hours before being moved to exam room. After another 1-1/2 hours, we told the front desk that he was having another seizure, they.asked if we told anyone, we said no because we hadn't seen anybody...another 1/2 hour, a different veterinarian finally came in..He suggested blood work and a tech came in to say it would take about 15 minutes for blood work results. We agreed. They took a sample. After 45 minutes another tech came in and said they didn't have enough blood to complete test so they took him to draw more blood. By this time the front doors are locked and the vet and tech are the only ones there. Can you imagine taking your pet in with severe seizures and taking hours with no urgency of concern. Obviously we were getting lost between their shifts....they used scare tactics to agree to the blood work, and never communicated with each other ....worse experience ever....left there after 9:00 ...our little guy survived and put on zonisamide a seizure medication...which were of little help. We finally got to see his regular veterinarian whom changed all meds and he is doing much better .....would not advise anyone to go here because it appears profit is their interest over the quality of care for your pet or pets! read more

The only reason why I am giving two stars is because the staff was super nice. However when you cremate your pet you have to sign a paper that says you need to claim your pets ashes within 2 weeks or they are given to the pet sanctuary place. Well my pet was cremated 8 days before I called up because I hadn't received a call. If I wouldn't have called and continued waiting for a call my pets ashes would be gone. And I made sure they got my new number and I checked my call longs I missed no calls. This is seriously messed up and you guys have got to get your communication sorted before you screw over someone. If you get your pets cremated here keep calling and checking. Don't loose your baby'a ashes because they refuse to communicate. read more

My husband took my 10 year old Lab Mix to this hospital by appointment the other day. She had been ill for two days. They took her temp, felt her stomach, took some blood and trimmed her nails. Prescribed 2 or 3 medications for a stomach virus and charged him $650.00!!! No X-ray or Ultra sound. Where do they get off charging $650.00 to take blood and feel her stomach! I have three dogs that recieve care at Barton Heights. Two of my doggies have had surgery here too. We were so happy with Dr. Greenleaf, but since Dr. Greenleaf left this place as gone down hill. I am so disgusted and disappointed. The owner of this clinic should make sure their front desk staff and tech vets like Kelsey have good interpersonal skills. Some of the front desk ladies are rude and dispassionate. My doggies saw Kelsey and this tech was very condescending. I expressed that I would be tranferssing my doggies to another vet and Kelsey verbalized to go to the front desk and that the girls would help do just that. WOW. A smart & sincere tech would try all possible to help the patient and secure the business. I am sure no owner wants to lose business. NO BUENO for Barton Heights!!! read more

The different shifts never talked to each other. It had me wait for 4 hours only to be told they couldn't do any tests on my dog because she still was having problems breathing. The shift that came in did not call us as the shift that went home had promised us. I also spoke to them after midnight about blood work. I was in agreement that we didn't need blood work done. When I came to pick her up the next day, the bloodwork was done and I had to pay $300 for it. After $1300 of my dog staying overnight in the oxygen cage for a few hours and then in a regular cage I was finally able to leave. read more

No issues with this vet except for their lack of common sense. My dog ran away after he escaped from his collar and somebody had brought him in to report him missing. My dog at the time had no collar on ans the chip to identify him had not been activated, so I'm not against the vet for not taking him in case of him potentially being a stray. The issue with the vet was how they did not take any contact information from the people who had brought my dog in and told them to be on their way. I don't understand how some people at a vet wouldn't take contact info from a person bringing in a lost dog. A vet is supposed to take care of animals not push them away. That is why I'm not against the vet, just wish they had some common decency to take down contact information to help bring my boy home read more

I normally don't write reviews, but feel the need to share my experience. I called at 1:50 a.m.,July 10. 2021. My dog had been vomiting and the vomit looked to have blood in it. I explained this to the person who answered phone and she said the blood was totally normal, if the dog had been vomiting. Don't give the dog any food or water. In the morning feed the dog chicken & rice and the dog should be fine. By 2:15 a.m., my dog was hemorrhaging. I called back and took the 3:00 .m. appointment. Once there, I waited in a separate room. A lady came in and said, "It does not look good, your dog may not make it!" With that, I need 75% payment of the estimated total, roughly $1500.00. Once I paid, I was allowed to see my dog. Sadly, she did not make it. I had her cremated. I called the following Monday to follow-up on the details and was told that it takes a week and I would get a phone call when my dog came back. Today, 2 weeks later, I had to call. My poor dog has been sitting in the office since last Monday. No phone call. When I asked why I did not get a phone call, the answer was, "I don't know, we were busy!". To top it all off, I looked at my invoice and realized that I had been charged twice for items. The refund came to $58.77. I wonder how many other people grieving did not look at their invoice and were overcharged! The only professional was the vet tech that took the time to explain the invoice and what was going on. I found the rest of the staff unprofessional and lacking any empathy. I would not recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone who cares about their companion! read more

If I could give a negative star review I would. They messed up our appointment for a surgery for our beloved family dog. We even confirmed the appointment with them the day prior, and they told us no food after 8 PM. Upon arrival for the next days appointment for a life-saving surgery they said they didn't have the appointment in the system and turned us away. Which ultimately resulted in our dog bleeding out to near death and us having to put him down at an emergency vet hospital. SHAME ON YOU ALL! read more

Every time I come here they tell me it will be hours of a wait. I always have an appointment and they have left me 3 hours waiting in the heat in parking lot and told me I can't use their bathroom. I brought my dog back a third time because we didn't want to switch vets and they said it will probably be a 3 hour wait again! I said you do this every time I come in. The lady replied in a very condescending tone " I am sorry a dog fell down the hill and we had an emergency". After reading some of the reviews on here, I was hesitant to bring my cat here but I had just moved here and it was open. I was happily surprised. Everything was great. Talia and Linda at the front desk were super nice. The emergency vet was super sweet to my cat-Dr. Crabtree. I was trying to wait until Monday to see his new regular vet, but I hated to see my boy uncomfortable. The emergency fee is the same as a NYC emergency fee visit, and I felt it was a small price to pay for my baby to have relief from what was bothering him. She flushed the eye that was bothering him, ran a test, checked the eye again and administered medication. In an emergency, I'd definitely come here again. read more

Last week one of our dogs, Luke, was very ill, rapid breathing, bloated stomach and refusing to eat or drink. We called our Vet to see if he would examine Luke as an emergency walk in. We have used his services for 14 years for all of our dogs. We were told that there was no availability to help and we were referred to "an emergency hospital". We were not thrilled about the recommendation and the expected costs, however, with Luke in such distress we went to Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital. We were directed to Dr. Victoria Korona, who took full control of Luke's issues and made prudent and respectful recommendations about diagnosing his problem. She did a physical examination and suggested an X-Ray of his abdomen to see if any of his internal organs showed abnormalities. After the X-Ray, she determined everything was normal except that Luke was bloated with gas probably due to a possible intestinal infection. She prescribed an antibiotic, probiotics and gave him a shot for nausea. The bill was $483 which included a $135 emergency visit charge, but to my husband and we would have paid anything to find out Luke was not in a life threatening situation. Dr. Korona was a pleasure to deal with and very reassuring that Luke would be fine and three days later he was eating, jumping on the couch and using the stairs without assistance again. As for our usual vet, we have decided it is time to find a new veterinary service for our pets. Hopefully one that will respond in the case of an emergency. read more

The worst treatment you and your pet can ever receive. The staff is horrendous blatantly cold and not a care about customer service to say the least. I have three dogs I took two there separate times. They spent maybe 3 minutes with each dog each time I went there and did not even look at them on a table basically bent down and looked at a little lump on my dogs leg and gave me a insane estimate. Ended up being a clogged hair follicle. And the other dog who had a neck issue they drained his anal glands and didn't even bother cleaning him up. Disgraceful I travel a hour and a half now to a different vet well worth the drive. I never thought of bothering to leave a review but once I saw how many people and there pets have been mistreated I feel I should say something as well. read more

This is the worst place that has ever existed. I went in because my dog was sick and was not doing well for a couple of weeks. He was peeing and throwing up and was acting out of the norm. I took him here because there was no other places available. They charged me a fee over $100 to see him immediately. After we were seen they took him for test and came back and said he had ABSOLUTELY nothing. They charged us $800 for those exams. After the doctor, a real jerk, said he can do a urine test or head scan. All they wanted was more money. Turns out we took him to another vet and MY DOG HAS KIDNEY FAILURE AND IS DYING. Our dog needed emergency surgery for bloat. We were told the cost would be between 4500.00 and 5900.00 and they wanted 75% of the bill BEFORE they would do the surgery. We put 4500.00 on our credit card and was called after the surgery was performed. The surgeon was very informative about what surgery he did and said on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst ) that he believed our dog was a 4 or 5. We were discouraged to visit him because he was sedated. The next day he was not eating or drinking and we went in to try to hand feed him. He was still very sedated and could not be encouraged to eat or drink. We were told they were giving him Fentanyl which makes them drowsy and unable to eat. we asked that they take him off fentanyl . at the same time, an employee informed us that our bill was now up to 5500.00. We wanted to bring him home but they recommended another night Stay. We tried talking with one of the doctors on call that evening but were told they were too busy to speak with us. We insisted we bring him home the next day because they didnt seem to be doing anything to help him and they were still giving him fentanyl. Our bill was 6400.00 . it went up $ 1000.00 overnight. we brought him home and contacted our own veterinarian who said he was very dehydrated and offered a dismal prognosis. at that point we decided to let him go.... We were very disappointed with the care he received at Barton Heights. They have very little compassion for the animals or their owners. They seem to be interested in the money . we would not recommend bringing your pet to them. read more

Generally very good doctoring, I've been pleased. However, expect to be on hold for 10-20 minutes and have the front desk staff to be less than friendly. They do not interact or seem to care about their human clients. I'm looking for an alternative. Last night when we got home from work, we noticed that our dog's eyes were red and very swollen. He was uncomfortable and kept licking his paws and rubbing his eyes. His regular vet is only five minutes away, but they're not open 24 hours. We were worried about how much treatment would cost and if we would have enough to pay for it. The emergency vet told us they don't offer payment plans or assistance of any kind. Treatment has to be paid for up front and in full. The girl I spoke to on the phone said they could do an assessment of our dog's eyes and if we didn't have enough to pay for the treatment we could apply for some kind of credit thing that they did offer. We put the dog in the car and drove over there. It's a half hour away. At this location you have to be buzzed into the building. When we arrived, they would not buzz us in and the girl had a very rude tone of voice, like she was trying to get rid of us. We explained that it was an emergency and she then told us again they don't offer payment plans and the credit thing has to be done online. I was not told this when I called them earlier. No compassion whatsoever. What if our dog was in a life or death situation? Would they have just let him die because we couldn't afford their enormous fees? I think they would have. For a place that is supposed to be an emergency vet hospital, they should know that people don't always have money flowing from their fingertips when an emergency happens. And to not offer payment plans or assistance is just ridiculous. We will think twice before going there again. My regular Drs. Office was closed, so I was advised to take my cat Buddy to the Bartonsville Vet. Hospital, once there Buddy was diagnosed with a Urinary Blockage, Dr Ott drained Buddy's urine, put a caputuer on him and told me that Buddy would live a few more days, I was distraught and confused, Dr Ott was insistence that euthanasia be considered, I said no that I'd take him home, Dr Ott kept at it, and in my grief and confusion I agreed, I was pushed into making a hasty decision which I now regret, Dr Ott showed no compassion for me or Buddy, I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income and couldn't afford the $2,000. fee for surgery. I had an emergency with a pet. I called ahead of time to let them know what the problem was and I was headed in immediately. There were 4 cars in the lot and I phoned them. They said a tech would be out. Over the next hour I called two more times to make sure they had my phone number and inquire about wait time. He was hurting and hadn't been able to go to the bathroom. A tech will be out shortly. I was done waiting. I made a call to Creature Comforts. They said they would get him in. There were 7 cars in the front lot and Within 45 minutes, the dog was taken in, treated and the bill paid. I have no idea why Barton Heights is called an ER facility. read more

They make you wait out in the parking lot for ever even with an appointment , after that they will not let you in to talk to doctor.
