Doctor in this practice that I see is very thorough and I'm happy with this part of the services. The optical part is something else and this is where I'm basing my survey on. My insurance covers $300.00. They instructed me to a wall with about 10 frames that were cheap looking and cost about $20.00 so they're trying to tell me I have to pay $280.00 for single vision lenses that are just for reading. When I asked again, I was told yes, this is what they covered. Would not break down the lenses and frames separately. I called a few optical stores and the going prices for regular single vision polycarbonate lenses are between $60.00 to $120.00 dollars so are they trying to charge $180.00 dollars for frames that look like mediicaid frames. Do not buy glasses from this place and shop around as they are trying to rip off customers. I understand making a profit but cheap looking frames for almost $200.00, I don't think so. I never ever leave reviews but Doctor Trentacosta deserves it. He is literally the best doctor I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. I got lasek surgery with him, I now see perfect after a lifetime of not being able to see at all without glasses. I am so so happy I trusted him to do this because now I can see and I don't have words to describe this feeling. I've been going to Miami Lakes Eye Care Center since I was 10. I am now 26. Needless to say, there has to be a reason I keep coming back (or rather several). I've been attended by just about every eye doctor here, both when I've had vision insurance and when I haven't. They're very kind and they always send you a reminder when it's time for you to see them again. Their office is clean, the doctors and staff are very professional, the parking is no problem and it's close to Main Street. Most recently, I went to see Dr. Zambrano Jr. on a Saturday. Yes, you read correctly. I went to see Dr. Zambrano Jr. on a Saturday. That's one of the things I love about this place - FLEXIBLE HOURS! Not to mention that they're quite versatile; they're always a doctor available and they even have an optical here (mind you, I've never used it, but that's still pretty convenient). All in all, I guess the only thing to say is see you next year. Oh wait, I still have to figure out what color contacts I want. I may be returning earlier than I thought. It's been 9 months since I underwent the LASEK. Thus far, one of the best decisions I've taken in my life. Using corrective lenses for since I was 4 years old and now 23. It's great to wake up in the morning and have better than 20/20 vision. My life has taken a 180 degree turn for the better. I was recommended by a very close friend to Dr. Trentacoste. Soon my father and girlfriend will be paying him a visit to be operated on. Though this wasn't my particular case, they do have very flexible payment options. Dr Trentascoste and his staff are amazing. As a designer, I prize few things above my vision. As a recent transplant to NYC, I've had difficulty identifying a quality eye doctor. Recently, I had a situation that no longer permitted me to test out doctors or further delay a visit. I remembered Dr. Trentacoste from when I was younger. I think I first met him as a child at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Institute. I decided to get on a plane and handle the issue with a trusted family resource. This was my first visit to the doctor as a "grown-up." I only wish every experience with professionals was this smooth and pleasant. The doctor took his time and carefully explained my situation leveraging the coolest diagrams I've seen in some time; Corneal topography diagrams rock. I walked out of his office feeling confident in my situation and the treatment strategy. Oh yeah, "Dr. T" had stayed late on his last day in the office before vacation to make sure I was properly cared for. The icing on the cake, the cost of the visit including the airfare was still less than what I was getting quoted in NYC. The care was above and beyond anything I have experienced in my beloved City. Totally unprofessional!! Doesn't matter what time you make an appointment for, get ready to wait a minimum of an hour and a half. Doctor straight up told me he books 25 patients a day. Do the math!! The girls at the front desk are clueless & spend their time gossiping with no regards for their patients. As I was checking out, two of the girls at the front were talking trash about a patient who had a thick Asian accent & how they can never understand her & making fun of how she speaks. I had problems seeing so I made an appointment at the Miami Lakes Eye Care Center. The office staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The center provides all your eye needs, from surgery to contact lenses. The morning of the surgery went like clockwork, from prep to procedure. First time customer. I went to go get goggles for work at this place and the person who assisted me "Ibeth M". Did not do a proper job by not going over with me with the options I had for the goggles, she did not give a good customer service when I went to choose the glasses nor when I went to pick them up; in addition, she had a bad attitude this is not professional. I do not recommend this place. It took almost 3wks to get an appointment for a basic eye exam. When I made the appointment they did not inform me of a policy of theirs that states that pupil dilation is MANDATORY or no exam. As my exam was taking place I advised the doctor of my wish to decline the pupil dilation. At that point everything spiraled out of control. I was advised that pupil dilation was mandatory and I had to have it per office policy or she would lose her license if I did not do it. If I did not dilate my pupils I would not be able to get my exam completed. I advised her I had the right to reject it and sign a refusal/waiver for same. She then indicated that they did not do that there. She walked out of the exam room and in came in the office manager with the same script. I have been wearing glasses since I was 15 and now I am 35, I am very healthy with no eye issues. I know the drill and I know what my rights are. This practice only wants to cover their rears and prevent malpractice law suits. I will be filling a complaint form with the State of Florida and I am also following up with the American Academy of Opthalmology. They have NO right to force a patient to under go pupil dilation if they decline it. They have a huge geriatric patient base and I wonder if they give them the same excuse just to bill Medicare. Do your research first and find a doctor's office that isn't just in it to make a quick buck from you or your insurance with unnecessary tests. read more
