We've been seeing Dr. Finch for the entirety of my dog's 13.5 years. He's always provided the best care, takes his time to talk through the health and wellness of your specific pet/breed, and answer questions along with providing options. I always appreciated how comfortable the staff made us feel, especially understanding my high-anxious pit mix-- helping us get straight to a room without having to interact or see other dogs. IYKYK! The doctor was really good with Ramen Noodles and he gave him the right medication and he was fine in no time.

Incompetence. In less than a 30 second exam, dr. Finch diagnosed my dog with allergies. I told him I didn't think that was the issue but followed his recommendation. Three weeks later Bottom line: bacterial pneumonia, perhaps valley fever and can hardly breathe. Going from emergency vet to critical care hospital in hopes they can save him. He doesn't listen and frankly could obviously care less. Scale doesn't work. Sinks in treatment rooms don't work. read more

One of my cats has severe anxiety when being somewhere unfamiliar so taking her anywhere is extremely hard to manage with her constant screaming, panting, shaking, and pooping herself in the carrier. Basically, a full-on kitty panic attack while I'm behind the steering wheel trying to focus on the road. I requested a refill for one of the prescriptions that is specifically prescribed for that, Acepromazine (10 mg tablets), and was told I would be able to purchase 2 tablets for $15. I wondered how much a regular full prescription bottle costs then. I can't exactly remember what I paid last time considering I only use them for absolutely necessary travel so like mostly vet visits and grooming, I didn't really need a refill. I was then informed by Baseline Animal Clinic after being on hold for some time that 23 tablets actually also happen to cost $15. So basically like: Now: $15 = 2 tablets Normally: $15= 23 tablets However, I was also then informed that Dr. Finch, who was my preferred veterinarian of the two I've seen, will only authorize 2 tablets for Pandora because she is due for her annual in a little over a month. I told them her grooming appointment is on this Wednesday and she has matts so that's why I'm requesting them now and would not like to pay $15 twice. So they asked if I could postpone the grooming, schedule an annual with them in a week or two (costs $143 I was told, and I have another cat so $286 total), and then schedule her to go to the necessary grooming appointment for her matts afterward. Okay. No, thank you to paying $15 for 2 tablets (overpriced) and then paying again in a month on the annual exam $15 for 23 tablets (regular price) because it's now her annual so I'm blessed with the regular true price of the refill? And no, thank you to paying $143 * 2 cats on their annual which you are now recommending I do sooner than their usual annual exam due date (plus the $65 for the fecal parasite you also recommended over the phone). I think I've been with this Veterinary clinic for around 2 years, maybe more? This business may have forgotten that in order to ensure a customer's continued business, it is highly recommended that the customer also be satisfied with the services they are currently receiving. I'm definitely not satisfied. All I needed was the normal price to refill the medications you prescribed to manage my cat's severe anxiety when traveling becomes absolutely necessary like now, with the painful matts on her back and grooming appointments aren't the easiest to schedule for cats either. After being a sucker to Banfield and their bs insurance plan which isn't actually insurance at all really it just covers dental work and regular checkups but when there's an emergency you are SOL In the last 6 months both my dogs have been lovingly and consciously put to rest by Dr Josh Finch. Both were sudden and the staff was super compassionate... My first dog, he came in on his day off to be the one to do it.. last August 1, I remember the day because it was my daughter's first day of kindergarten. She had sudden onset lymphoma She wasn't eating her face was swollen She was Not herself my crazy food driven monster Chihuahua min pin would not come out from under the couch not even for a bag of fresh corned beef...there was no hope... So I lovingly held her and laid her to rest. After that dog died my Gracie boo boos, her sister Harper stopped eating .I took her to baseline had all her labs drawn and did seem like she would be okay but things really didn't change and I chalked it up to depression.. She wasn't eating and as a single mother I felt like I had a third child trying to figure out what she would eat I mean I'm already trying to figure out what a two and a six year old to eat This dog just used to eat dog food..now I'm doing everything under the sun and buying everything I can to see what will work... Started with hamburgers hot dogs fresh deli meats that's it was always a waiting game.. when is Harper going to eat and when is Harper going to go to the bathroom and when she did it was either in the house or it was not pleasant Despite having a full anesthetia dental cleaning just months ago at banfield.. I don't hate them I just don't trust them anymore...her teeth were almost rotten... So I thought I would just need to cut up her food better and give her some minerals and things and add to her water but then she stopped drinking.... And eating ...and with the Corona virus and doctors offices shutting down I knew I need to get into baseline animal clinic... Figure out immediately what's going on even though I knew it would be very expensive for me (maybe not you but for me)I could not risk having a dog randomly going to distress and die potentially in front of my little children who are still mourning their other dog. He looked at her examined her and when I described her bathroom presentation( I won't go into detail )about that He confirmed what I was seeing was stomach cancer and blood in her stool So I made the executive decision to put my dog to rest..m my only other dog out of her suffering.. my little alarm system. I have cried both times in front of this veterinarian He has never made me feel silly or stupid for holding up my phone to my dog's face with the pictures of my children as they passed away. Do you want reasonable fair priced compassionate care for your animals? Go here. I haven't yet picked up her paw prints because I can't get out but I do recall getting a card in the mail from their office after Gracie died. They have your pet's best interest heart they won't lie to you and they will make you feel validated and better about the hardest decisions you will have to make. And should you be face of the decisions that I've had to recently The only thing I ask of you as a reader is stay by your pet's side when that time comes Don't let them die in the arms of a stranger stay there like they stood by you. They deserve to see a comforting loving face of someone they have served for years in their last moments. Suck it up It sucks It hurts but they deserve that. for unequivocally loving you for however many years they have spent in your home... Animals they are so pure and baseline animal clinic recognizes that and treats each one with dignity and care. I will bring my cats to them from now on because I need to make sure those golden retrievers who I call cats live forever... Even though I know they won't I need to know they're being taken care of and baseline animal clinic they're going to be the ones to do it. False hope and useless treatments bring profit.... Dr Josh and his team prioritize an animals well-being, quality of life, and longevity. My two girls crossed the rainbow bridge after 10 years together. And we miss them very much. read more

I have been coming to this vet since I moved to Arizona from Kentucky. They have always been so friendly and welcoming. Let's just be serious, when it has to do with anything about your furry family (especially health) we are very cautious. It's convenient and has plenty of parking out in Tempe. I moved to Scottsdale and still drive a few minutes out to make sure I still come here. The doctors and tech's are always really friendly and sweet with the animals, as to be expected. :) Overall, this place is very clean and well kept - I love it here and so do my pets! :) read more

These people are the only ones I trust with my pets. We were referred to Dr. Finch 4/5 years back when our older dog was beginning to have eye problems. Dr. Finch helped us make the decision to have his eyes removed and after a flawless procedure (and healing time) our 11 year old dog was acting like a puppy again. We never went anywhere else afterwards. Recently, my boyfriend and I rescued a puppy from the streets and we discovered the poor thing had no owners, was infested with ticks, and sick. Dr. Finch made time out of his busy schedule to get us an emergency visit to help our new pup every time I called in crying about how our puppy was getting worse. He's understanding, caring, professional, and very knowledgeable. This office is the best. I've been going here since before Dr. Finch bought the clinic and wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets. From chronic immunocompromised kitties to routine dog checkups Dr. Finch is kind, compassionate and incredibly skilled with my pets. I have lots of stories but more recently one of my kitties woke up with a super swollen jaw. Fearing an abscessed tooth or scorpion sting, I rushed my kitty to a nearby vet with urgent care early hours since it was before normal business hours. After a thorough exam but unable to find anything specific they wanted to schedule me for dental surgery (even though they couldn't identify any teeth that would be causing it). They quoted me a minimum of 2.7k and up to 5k for the surgery. Called Baseline Clinic and got in the next day to see Dr. Finch. My kitties had been rough housing and he had gotten a scratch on his jaw that got infected. They lanced the abscess, flushed, gave us some antibiotics and I was out of the office for less than $100 with a full recovery inside of a week. Huge relief! They treat my pets like family, the staff included (love Sonia and Theresa!). It's important to have a vet you can trust and I'm so glad to have found Dr. Finch. read more

I would highly recommend this office. My dog had an infection from him being neutered (at a different office- He was a rescue) which we did not know at the time. We took him to the ER the second day we had him and they said it was a possible broken bone, They said we could follow up with our PCVET, which we had an appointment on Monday with this place, but they were able to get me in sooner since they had a cancellation. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Even the vet tech was super sweet. Dr. Finch hands down was great! I would highly recommend this doctor to anyone who wants someone who will care about your dog and the wellness as much as they do, He was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to explaining what we needed to do for his infection! We were very impressed. Our little puppy was throwing up on Monday and we feared the worst. I called our regular vet and they couldn't get us in until Wednesday. They just told us to go to the emergency vet. I waited an hour or so and then the vomiting stopped. I asked a friend where she takes her dogs and she highly recommended Baseline Animal Clinic. I called them and they got us an appointment the next day. While we were there we were able to get her shots and for the visit and shots they were 1/3 of the price at the other vet. I first came to see Dr Finch at Baseline Animal Clinic around 5 years ago when I lived in Tempe, AZ. He is a true gift of a DOGtor who takes pride in providing fair and honest veterinary care. I work in the field and know many other practitioners, I've even seen a few others for various emergencies, but Dr Finch and BAC is still my #1 choice. Over the last 5-6 years, I've moved from Tempe, to Ahwatukee, to Chandler, and now to the East Valley and yet I still make the 40mile drive to come here for my fur-babies. We've had our ups and downs with my, as of a now, 3, 4-legged kiddos eating chocolate, full sticks of butter, scorpion stings, neck lacerations, ear abscesses, Giardia (the bane of my existence) and he never ceases to amaze me with how well he knows them and the level of care and attention he provides. The office is slightly dated, but that's because he cares more about the medicine and standard of care. If I could give them a 12/10 I would! Thank you for being so awesome to my babies! One thing I'd like to point out that people often overlook is the fact that your veterinary office is more than "just a doctor's office". They're your pets' surgeon, emergency room, dentist office, pharmacy and sometimes even more! Vets work directly with veterinary and human pharmaceutical companies and distributors to negotiate pricing, research warranties and study safety and efficacy on the products we buy for our pets. These deals are not necessarily guaranteed when medicine is purchased online or from third-party retailers. Sometimes what's listed online for these incredibly discounted prices are complete counterfeits and dangerous! You should ask yourself if that $5 saving is worth potentially harming, or killing, your pet! I didn't understand this until I, myself, joined the veterinary medical community. Even if you want to order generic medication instead of the brand name, ask your veterinarian to purchase it for you! Doing so, you guarantee you're purchasing a legitimate product and getting the accurate dose. Veterinary drugs, like human medications are regulated by various agencies like the FDA and USDA, as well as by manufacturer guidelines and standards. read more

Old school vet located off College and Baseline in Tempe. Front staff is helpful, vet is amazing. We took our basset in who had an issue with her back. The vet was open and honest with options to help and we never felt like they oversold their care. Our pet underwent surgery and came out healthy and happy. We are so glad we brought Penny to Baseline Animal. The facility is modest, the staff cares about your pets, and the doctors are up front with their treatment. We felt the prices were affordable and not extravagant. We will be back with other pets! read more

Update 8/6/15: I wanted to add that we still really love Baseline Animal Clinic. We lost our dog unexpectedly (her stomach flipped, they referred us to the emergency vet and it was just too late so we had to put her down). We were beyond devastated over losing her. A few days after she passed, we came home to find the sweetest sympathy card from Baseline Animal Clinic in the mailbox, handwritten and signed by the staff. It was totally unexpected and a very kind and thoughtful gesture. We're not quite ready for another dog yet, but when we are, we'll definitely continue our care here. :) ~~~~ I started taking our dog to the Baseline Animal Clinic after it received glowing reviews from a family friend. We've had two two visits so far... one for vaccinations and a teeth cleaning... and the other after our dog injured her eye while playing. I was a little nervous about the initial visit, and warned the receptionist that we had recently adopted our dog, and were still working on her perfecting her manners. She loves everyone she meets... but at 80lbs, her energy and excitement can be a bit overwhelming. Fortunately for us, the entire staff has been absolutely wonderful at both of our visits. Our dog has never been a big fan of going to the vet.... but she LOVES the staff at the Baseline Animal Clinic, and seems to feel much more comfortable with them than she has anywhere else. Their services are very reasonably priced... and while they do offer a few "extras," I didn't find them to be pushy at all. They are also AWESOME about following up. After we had our dog's teeth cleaned (which involved putting her under general anesthesia), they called two or three days in a row to check and see how she was doing. And, after our second visit for the eye injury, the vet called to see how the antibiotics were working. First, let me start off by saying that I am one of those people who is mildly obsessed with their animals...ok, completely obsessed. They are my kids and I take their health and well being very seriously. With that being said, I wouldn't trust them with any other vet. I have taken multiple dogs (in fact I'm on my 5th boxer) to Dr. Finch and he has been such a blessing. He is always very compassionate and loving with them and he's extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, he's very honest which was evident when I lost my female boxer a year ago. She was dying of cancer and even though I would have spent all my money and time getting her better, Dr. Finch explained that it would be very difficult for her (and I) to go through and would not be beneficial to her at this stage. This allowed her and I to have the best quality of life and enjoy our last moments together in peace. The staff is also extremely sweet and always very loving with our animals, not to mention that they themselves are all very knowledgeable. They have never pressured me and always give me plenty of options and suggestions on how to deal with any of the issues that arise. We recently moved to north Phoenix and even though the drive is over 30 minutes each way for us, I don't care. I wont go anywhere else! read more

Tom Challie is the new vet there... I had a very disturbing experience with him yesterday. Don't go there... it is not the same place with him there! No compassion or people skills at all.. No professionalism either, since it looked as though he just rolled out of bed. So very sad for Baseline Animal Hospital to have someone with such a harmful attitude that is ruining their business. I have been going there for many years and have told all my friends to go too. Not any more! I would be very surprised if Tom Challie had a valid license to practice. For the sake of your pets that don't have a voice, please don't go to Baseline Animal Hospital. And especially don't let this Dr. Tom Challie touch your precious pet. He doesn't really care about you... AND DON'T DILLY DALLY either, as he told me... because other patients are scheduled in 10 minutes... Oh, and this was an emergency appointment where they told me just to come in as soon as possible... and the dilly dally was getting my other dog out of the hot car! This clinic dropped my dog as a patient for unknown reasons, but I believe because I had a real difficult time trying to get them to refill my dog's seizure meds that he cannot live without. This clinic has very poor communication skills. Everything from receiving fax requests for refills, to actually telling me I was no longer a client until I called to verify they no longer wanted me. How hard would it be to prescribe refills for 6 or 12 months instead of a couple here and there and dodge the calls? If you have customers, you should really communicate with them. Now every time I go in there I am talking to the for a hour about how I can buy the same products I pay for in store through them and it will be better. I had picked up my dog from the kennel and she had a cut eye and was throwing up non stop. All the emergency rooms said I would pay hundreds of dollars just to take her in so I called baseline and they said they would see her right away! I brought her in and they were so sweet and gentle with her. They diagnosed her right away and she was treated and cured within a week. They were so caring and also didn't break the bank. I did the unthinkable the other day and went to another vet. Let's just say I loved the feeling of no cares given about my pet and just was there to make money. After the second time of them wanting to just take my money and nothing else I decided to get a second opinion...which lead me back to my favourite place! Yay and with tails wagging! The front desk staff is always very sweet and friendly! Even when I bring a random stray that happened to be walking around my apartment complex, they were always willing to help me out with the microchip part. And would be on the lookout for if anyone was looking for their lost pet and know how to contact me if needed. The doctors (oh the wonderful doctors) have always been so kind to my pets! I've never had any problems with any of them. My favourite is always Dr. Finch (he always reminds me of Matthew McConaughey) for he understands our love for our 4 legged animals! I love that he isn't out to make a sale and then scoot us to pay the bill. He takes the time to get to know them (and heck all of our pets have LOVED LOVED LOVED him)! If you don't want to feel like you're just another paycheck for an animal place then this is the place! They are always there for your pets and are concerned about them. They make house calls to make sure everything is on the up and up. This is the best place to go! Trust me and all of the sweet fur babies that I have in my life! read more

Very disappointed with the service I received today. I brought my puppy in on short notice and was already very concerned and scared for his health. The veterinarian who examined my dog was disrespectful and did not treat the situation with the class I would expect from a registered vet. He made jokes on several occasions hinting that my puppy would probably die. He was extremely vague and indirect in his diagnosis and prognosis. He sent me home with a couple things of medicine and unclear instructions on what I should do with my puppy, or what to expect going forward. My puppy passed away later at a different clinic. I was told by them that this puppy should have never been sent home by Baseline. I regret not slapping that vet right read more

I am deeply grateful for finding Dr Finch and staff. My beautiful Belgian Tervuren developed epilepsy at 15 months of age. Dr Finch worked tirelessly finding medication that would work with his system. 5 years working with us. It's Dr Finches calmness that got us through many siezures. The staff always talked to me when I was so overwhelmed by his siezures. They kept me going many times. We were better together because of this office and their support. The day came when Dr Finch had to tell me he now had lg cell carcinomas. I know it was hard for him to do. I've known many vets through the years and none compare to this clinic.
