My usual vet is rather far away and booked up weeks in advance so I thought I'd try this place. I'm on a budget, but I wanted the NuQ cancer test added to her bloodwork as she's been having tremors. They wanted to add a heartworm test. I said that she has zero heartworm symptoms, if anything I'd rather have a valley fever test added. They insisted on the heartworm saying that they need a "heartworm baseline." What is that? There is no such thing. They also didn't even give me the $25.00 off the first visit that they advertise. They charged me in full even though they couldn't do the exam as my dog was too skittish. It seems to be all about $$$ here. I believe someone said this is a corporate owned place. I had another vet draw her blood adding the NuQ, not heartworm, and it came back positive, which is horrible, but so glad I went there instead of here. She STILL doesn't have any heartworm symptoms. Told me my dog had cancer and tried to pressure me to get surgery for her even though her oxygen levels were very low. This sounded dangerous based on info I received from an emergency vet that gave her a transfusion a year or so before. So, I got a second opinion and that vet told me it was just a sebaceous cyst (definitely not cancer), and agreed that putting her under anesthesia with such a low oxygen count would likely kill her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To make matters worth they failed to forward her records to the second opinion vet even though I asked them to do so multiple times both in person and over the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Needless to say I never went back and never will go back to this vet. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO MACC COMMENT: I do not request second opinions on procedures I request. Regardless of why I came to you in the first place the fact is that the vet subsequently told me the cyst was likely cancerous and should be removed via surgery. I have a very clear memory of this discussion in the exam room and it is the only reason I made the records sharing request that same day and sought a second opinion ASAP after that appointment. As that sounded dangerous to me given my pets ONGOING anemia/low PCV level (which is directly related to low oxygen level and how it was colloquially described to me by multiple vets), I asked you to forward the records to another vet for a second opinion. This record request was made IN PERSON and you assured me the records would be shared. However, when I went to the other vet several days later the records were not shared (likely when I yelled... this was compromising my pets health). Fortunately, the other vet was still able to make a diagnosis and recommendation. I wrote the review now after reading that others have had bad experiences. I stand by my description. read more

I super wish I could give zero stars. Go anywhere else is you value your money. A year ago my fiancé and I found a stray kitten in our complex and his mother had abandoned him. Unfortunately he did begin having seizures so we desperately needed to get him in to see someone. We brought him in and Dr Nelson scared us by saying our kitten would most likely die. Devastating thing to say but we accepted it and took our kitty home. We started with some random medicine they had us try. No luck. I would get calls that basically would scare me into taking him back. "Oh yea he's doing well thanks for calling!" "Oh well is he sneezing at all?" "I mean a little bit why?" "You need to bring him in, that's not a good sign" not kidding. Over sneezing. We then had to do so many expensive tests. The total turned out to be over a thousand dollars. The last two bloodwork tests my doctor couldn't even tell me why they were relevant to my cats seizures. The worst part? I go to another vet to get a second opinion because the tests were incredibly expensive. NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH BENJI. HE WAS HAVING SEIZURES BECAUSE HE WAS A MALNOURISHED STRAY. I'm so disappointed I wasted that money. The entire thing could have been avoided if Dr Nelson had just taken into account he was malnourished. Don't go here if you value your money or pets care. He was still having seizures after the medicine that was prescribed. read more

We have been taking our two cats here for years and recently brought in our Tabby for an ear issue. It turned out she also needed teeth removed so we scheduled that surgery right away and simultaneously treated her ears with drops for a week as instructed. When I brought her back for her free teeth follow up 11 days after surgery, i mentioned she is still itching one of her ears. They told me there would be a charge to look at her ears and I started sobbing in the lobby while reminding them I already paid 2300 for both ears/teeth. I never saw the doctor...just waited in the lobby and then was told by the nurse I had to pay 62 for the doctor to look at her ear and tell me to start the drops again. I could have just done that myself and saved the 62 dollars! I am aware this vet is more expensive than most and we gladly paid more because we wanted the best treatment for our cats, but they should be ashamed to tack on $62 to tell me what i already knew. We are considering taking our cats somewhere else going forward and it breaks my heart to do so. UPDATE: The owner of McClintock called within 24 hours and provided a refund as there was a miscommunication on our cat's chart regarding her ear check vs. the teeth treatment. I'm so relieved to continue bringing our cats to McClintock Animal where I know they receive the best treatment! read more

I'm new to town and my husband and I were looking for a vet for our 2 dogs. We were referred to McClintock Animal Care Center and I spoke to Rita yesterday and booked our first appointment for Saturday. As a new client they require a credit card and I let Rita know I would call her back after I was done work with my card info. They were closed at that time so I called again this morning and Rita gave away my appointment. This is a terrible first impressions and a poor way to treat new clients. This a a wonderful place with caring and pleasant staff. The only beef we have is that their prices are really high. And I mean really high. For example, we got some pills that they charge almost $8.00 each. When ordering them online they are under $2.00 each including shipping. The other costs are also multiples of what they should be. A tiny bit more expensive, but so thorough and a "good feeling" kind of place. I just trust them with my pups. It's as simple as that. Dr. Nelson and Dr. Smith are great. Jazmin, the vet tech, is my favorite. My pupperdoodles adore her! We rescued our pup a couple of months ago. I asked friends for vet suggestions and several friends had raving things to say about MACC. Every step leading up the the appointment day was a breeze- booked the appointment via email, filled out the new client forms and told them what we were looking for/concerns/questions for the appointment. When we arrived for Pepper's appointment, Tammi greeted us with all star treatment- hugs and treats for our pup. Dr. D and her staff were very patient, thorough and kind during our visit. They did not try to sell us any tools, vaccinations, etc- she simply listened to our questions & concerns, talked us through the scenarios and gave us lots of educational materials- from food recommendations, trainers they love to work with and some suggested vaccinations that would be helpful to support Pepper's lifestyle. It's obvious that every associate at this practice loves their job and the animals they get to help serve. We are excited to be a part of the MACC family! I recently adopted a puppy and was looking to set him up with a vet for shots and general care. A co-worker suggested going to McClintock Animal Care Center after taking all of their animals there. I called to make an appointment for shots and the very nice person who answered the phone told me that they were booked out because of the holiday but suggested going to a Vetco (Petco) shot clinic to keep my dog on schedule. I had no idea I could even do this so I was grateful for the information. I promptly made an appointment at the Vetco clinic and when I arrived the vet there noticed my puppy had pale gums. She suggested I go to a vet and get him checked out just to be sure. I called McClintock and explained the situation and I won't lie - I was in a bit of panic as I was worried about my dog's health. Hannah couldn't have been nicer or more understanding with me and got me an appointment that same day to get him checked out. When I dropped him off, he was taken in at the scheduled appointment time and I got a call from the vet explaining the findings. Blood work was needed and she took the time to explain why and answer every one of my many questions. She took the time to be honest with me and let me know it could be something serious but I know she did that to be up front and I genuinely appreciated it. Thankfully when the blood work came back it was a treatable condition but this is also when McClintock really stood out to me. They closed at 6:30 but called me at 6:45 to let me know the findings and that they would wait for me to return and pick up my dog so he wouldn't have to stay overnight. They made a potentially very scary situation better with their professionalism, honesty and patience. The vet even called to check on my dog and ask how he was doing the next day - spending plenty of time answering my questions. I've seen a few people mention cost in their reviews and all I can say is I'm confident they did exactly what was necessary and did so in a timely manner which helped get my dog feeling better soon and to me - that's priceless. I did not feel the cost for care was a high amount whatsoever. I would highly recommend anyone to take their animals here for care. I couldn't have been happier with how the situation turned out and how they treated me and my pet throughout the ordeal. I will definitely be taking him here for all of his care moving forward. read more

They take good care of my dog and they do a great job of following up on her to make sure she's okay. Their employees are sweet and caring to the animals. The only drawback to this place is price. For a teeth cleaning with one extraction of a broken tooth it cost about $1200. I feel like this is on the high side in terms of price. I will continue to bring my dog here though because I trust the way they treat my pet when I'm not around. Another sort of negative is that they recommended Greenies to clean my dog's teeth and if you google Greenies there's a lot of bad news out there and some cases of dogs even dying... not sure I'd go with Greenies. read more

The entire staff from the time I had walked in, to the time I had left truly cared about my new pup, Brewer. Ive had him for about a week and a half and he started having some bowel issues. Mostly diarrhea and vomiting. I was concerned so I brought him in and I'm very happy I did (as is Brewer). The staff make you and your pet feel very comfortable and they took the time to talk about different options we could take after carefully assessing him and really understanding his current issues. We are senior citizens on a fixed income. We have 2 senior cats (ages 13 and 15, one with a chronic GI condition) and a 6-year old terrier mix. We searched for a long time for a caring vet with multiple vets and longish hours. Our daughter takes all her pets to McClintock, so we moved our fur kids' care there a few years ago. The vets and staff are great... very responsive, thoughtful, polite, professional... everything you want as a consumer as far as soft skills are concerned. My problem is not with staff, care or anything other than PRICING. Today, before I decided to move care of all 3 critters to a new vet highly recommended by friends, I called that potential new vet and asked for a quote for what our dog needs next month -- annual exam and a vaccination. New vet: $54. Called McClintock and was told $96 for same service... almost twice the new vet quote. Hearing that, I asked that my animals' records be emailed to me for the new vet. I advised the huge discrepancy in pricing to no avail. McClintock does not offer a multi-animal discount nor a senior discount. Sad. It looks as if all previous comments on Yelp! About price have fallen on similarly deaf ears, if they were ever heard at all. Don't get me wrong. The lowest price isn't always the cheapest, but the new vet practice gets a 4+ star rating. I don't mind paying a fair price for services but McClintock's fee structure seems excessive. Time will tell. read more

Everyone from the receptionists to the nurses and even the doctors are so friendly, and get so excited when I bring my dog in. They spoil him with treats and attention, it's like they love him almost as much as I do! And they also care about the pet owner as well, always offering water and putting on music to listen to while waiting in the exam room, and making sure to explain everything thoroughly to make sure I understand and answer any questions I have. I am so impressed with this place! The staff was so incredibly kind and completely gave my special needs puppy all the extra care and love he needs to feel safe. The nurse that grabbed him from the car was very chatted with us about his extra needs with great understanding and assurance. He usually is terrified to be separated from his people but he was so happy and well cared for that he did great! I'm super grateful that the doctor and both nurses I interacted with took the time to make sure I knew every detail of what was going on with my puppy even through this odd time of social distancing and not being able to go into the center. This has been on my mind for some years now, and I recently was thinking about this situation while looking for a new vet to go to recently and decided to share my experience. I took my cat to this animal care center with my family when my cat was running a fever and one of his eyes was turning grey. We were extremely scared, didn't know what was going to happen, couldn't figure out what was wrong with our cat. He was a kitten at the time. We took him to this animal care center and they checked his temperature and told us that they thought he had one of three or four possible disease that are all untreatable and would kill him, while also spreading to our other cats and killing them as well, and that we needed to have blood tests done to confirm which disease it was, but that Dusk was going to die in less than one or two weeks. We didn't have the money for these tests and it didn't make sense to pay for a test if our cat was going to die anyways. Putting him down was brought up and we decided to bring him home. Today I spoke with a very nice woman in the office who spoke with me and answered my questions about who we talked to during that visit and she told me it was a Dr. Claus. We visited in 2016 and my cat is still alive, very healthy, and he hasn't had any issues since his fever went away. If we would have put him down that day, we would have killed our cat when he would have been perfectly fine in a week or two. read more

I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I recently moved from out of state and was looking for a new vet and my roommates recommended McClintock so I took my dog rafiki here back in November/December for an estimate to have some teeth removed and what they quoted me I thought was ridiculously high. I ended up calling around and found an actual dog dentist who said their price was probably going to be at least 3x higher than what McClintock quoted me. Then I called McClintock and I spoke to someone here not sure if it was a receptionist or what but she had recommended another vet who she heard was cheaper and got good reviews. So I took my dog to the other vet and she was right-they we're definitely cheaper. McClintock had originally quoted me a low end of $1,200 and high end of 2k and this other place quoted me $500 low end and $900 high end so I made the apt to have rafikis teeth done there but something didn't feel right, I've been in sales my whole life and though I do believe there is such a thing in ripping people off, I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I couldn't ignore my gut feeling that something wasn't right about the price so I made another apt with McClintock to get the ball rolling again and I'm sure glad I did. Everyone was fantastic, from Britney who was my dogs nurse to Dr. Claus to the receptionists and everyone in between. I was a nervous wreck giving my dog anesthesia and everyone was patient with me in answering my questions, they sent me pictures the whole time, and followed up with him the next day. I was more than happy to pay more money to ensure rafikis proper care and for peace of mind that my best friend was in good hands. The only "bad" reviews of this place are that they're expensive but can you really put a price on your best friends healthcare? That's what I kept asking myself and Dr. Claus has 30 years experience as opposed to the other vet who had 3. I think their prices are more than reasonable for not only the work they do but for the customer service they provide. Your pet is in good hands at McClintock and I'm going to make sure to refer everyone I can here. Today she had her check up. They are practicing physical distancing and are not allowing people come in unless they work there. They came out and got her and took her in and took care of her and went over things on the phone. I was nervous about not being able to go in with her, but I know she is well taken care of here.
