We were in town for a family reunion. While there we visited the College of Wooster campus and Downtown. We decided to give this place a try for lunch. While we were seated promptly and managed to get water. That was it for 20 min. The waiter finally shows up and says he was bartending. He took our order and 10 min later the egg rolls showed up. Diners that showed up well after us had there food and the group that was on the other side of us got their food, ate, paid their check, and left. 45 min into this farce I called it a day, got the check for the eggrolls. The food looked good, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to find out. This place really needs to work on their customer service. Once seated, servers, other waiters, and others never acknowledged our presence. We felt as if we were invisible. Clearly this place wasn't interested in our patronage. Will never go back. read more

In Ohio for my daughter's graduation. The wait was going to be about 35-45 minutes so we sat at the bar. Round bar sits about 15 people. Bartender was erratic and all over the place. Spilled a glass on a customer. Luckily it was not full but beverage and ice went everywhere. About 15 minutes later he knocked over a customer's glass of red wine. Some got on her white pants and sweater. He broke a glass while muddling the mint and fruit for a mojito. The whole show was just hard to watch!!! We ordered appetizers and a drink. Appetizers took over 30 minutes to come out and were room temperature instead of hot or warm so I assume they were sitting in the window for quite a bit. Food was ok. Drink was good. No big deal because either way I would not be back. read more

Absolutely wonderful! My son from LA and I went for lunch today and it was awesome. We had curried lamb, duck (I don't remember the name but it is half a duck ...crispy on the outside with a tender meat in fresh veggies and tasty sauce), shrimp tempura,Thai spring rolls and sushi. Everything's was tasty, well prepared and presented. Our waiter was fantastic...Chip...kept things coming, but no rush. We ordered extra shrimp tempura and Thai rolls to take home for dinner with left overs. The entire meal was $84 and worth every cent. This is the BEST meal I have eaten in Wooster! My son writes a food blog in LA and thought it could not have been better in any way. I think if you enjoy an Asian fusion you will love this fare. I had the Vietnamese Pho a few weeks back and it was wonderful as well. We had a dinner at a local steak house a few months ago and it was just AWFUL. We have been dining in Cleveland at Red the Steak House...yum but pricey, so it's great to have a place in town that is so good and I think reasonably priced. read more

The food an service was great. There is a bar area as well as a dining room. Reservations are recommended. The food came out non-spicy even though many at the table requested it spicy. We alerted the server to this and she returned with a large bowl of red pepper paste which our table of 6 managed to use all of. There is a decent selection of Asian beers. The wine was overpriced even for an upscale restaurant. Overall a very good experience though and we will be back again for sure. read more

Small town struggle. I am originally from a small town that is currently trying to revitalize it's downtown and so I get what the town of Wooster is trying to do. From the first time we walked in,we were greeted by the hostess who was very friendly and very accommodating.Seated us right away.Waitress gave us the menus and gave us a chance to look them over,without rushing us at all.She then came back and explained all the dishes we asked , did a very good job. One of my favorite places to eat in Wooster! I have never had a bad meal here. The environment is very modern, and it looks like a very expensive, fancy place, but it's not. The food is very affordable, and the portions are great for the price. They don't skimp on quality either. Was very excited to dine here again but it didn't go well. Salt and pepper calamari had a cinnamon and sugar coating. Keep the cinnamon and sugar on a cinnabon. i've eaten here many times, tonight Basil had a flat tire. Server nice, however explained sushi chef was sick. ok lets go. Ordered the following. 1. Miso Soup - salty 2. Salmon Sashimi- brought us smoke salmon (hello)... gave feedback- then came salmon scraps (whats left over from cutting fillets) 3. BURNT Chicken Satay ( 2nd time was not better) and here is my favorite, COAGULATED peanut sauce (manager said it should have melted under the heat lamp)...Seriously? Is this an authentic Thai?. The waddling female manager waddles around the room, but she is sleep walking. I wanted to mention the food quality and really didn't want anything in return, however made enough of a complaint that warrant a manager coming to our table. Basil Asian bistro is a nice change up from other dining options in wooster. While I haventy eaten in the restaurant, we've ordered take out multiple times. Each time our orders have tasted delicious. I highly recommend the coconut spaghetti. It does have a little heat to it so I order it without the heat and it's fantastic. I am overly sensitive to spicy food so the average palate probably wouldn't even notice any heat to begin with. The house fried rice is great. Chicken lo mein is a good go to if you are feeling less adventurous. Overall we've enjoyed Basil's dishes very much. It's fresh quality food with plenty of choices for every taste. read more

Generically Asian restaurant. Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese. You name it. They do a bit of it. Really nice, modern looking restaurant. It was hoping even on a Wednesday night. Service was fine. As is somewhat typical of a place trying to be everything to everyone, I'd say the food was consistently good, but nothing stood out as great. Sushi was average. Pot stickers were tasty. Korean noodle bowl with seafood had a nice spicy broth, but the combination of meats seemed kind of strange. My friend seemed to really enjoy his General Tsos. I will likely give this place another try, though I wouldn't order the same thing again. They are trying to do so many different cuisines under the same roof that really have little in common other than originating on the same continent. This place is absolutely amazing! Service was quick, place was clean, staff were nice, and not too far away! Our food was amazing. I got the California and Cucumber Sushi Rolls with a side of Lo mein; those were the best sushi rolls I've had in my life, but the Lo mein was kinda bland, but still good nonetheless. My mother got the Korean Jamble, it was massive and delicious, she was very satisfied. My Father got Pad Thai, he said it tasted amazing and that there were plenty of leftovers. We got the appetizer of the Spicy Won Tons and they were amazing, although a bit firm. All in all, this is an amazing place to eat and I recommend it to Asian food lovers, as it has everything from Sushi to Curry. 5 stars. read more

Amazing!! Came here on a whim with my father who swore up and down it had amazing curry. He was right! Curry was fantastic, as were the staff! We had an awesome waiter that helped answer our questions and provided great suggestions for dessert (which was by far the best ice cream I'd ever had. Super creamy, you have to try it). I love Thai food, so the fact that Basil exists in Wooster is a plus! I got the Pad See Eww with shrimp. The portion was pretty large and filling. The customer service was superb - my waitress was Bre and she was very helpful and went above and beyond (going out of her way to create a list for me with things to do in Wooster)! The atmosphere is really nice and cute for any meal. The only reason I didn't give Basil 5 stars was because the noodles didn't taste like authentic Thai noodles that I've had previously. read more

Ordered some Pad Thai and a couple of sushi rolls. The pad Thai was good, but it wasn't the best I have ever had. The sushi was ok. I wanted a spicy California roll and got a California roll with a bunch of siracha on top. My biggest issue was I got it to go. There was barely any soy sauce and they didn't send any chop sticks. A grocery store would send chop sticks, so major fail! I want to give them a four but I can't! read more

Our server was friendly and quick, she was able to get all of our orders and help us with making sure we had our checks quickly. The POS was down however the staff was all doing a great job keeping things moving along. Food was great!
