I have been going to Osaka pretty regularly for the last three years, but something has changed drastically in the last couple months. Different servers and now it appears new sushi chefs. No quality control on rolls anymore -- we received a roll that most definitely did not come with the seafood we tasted inside. Tried to talk to the management about it (which we usually never do) and were told we were wrong. There was no discussion of making up for the confusion/comping the roll/remaking it -- sushi is expensive! I also do not think it is wise to wipe tables down with bleach while customers are sitting and eating. I ordered the Hibachi Steak, Warm Sake, Boston shrimp roll, and tea. The steak was slightly overdone but good flavor, the brocoli was not steamed enough, but the Lo Mein was good, and the cream sauce for the lo mein was good. The ginger sauce for the steak was flavorful. The sushi roll was heavy on the cucumber and lettuce, a real sushi fan might not be as approving. The wasabi is slightly hotter than other wasabis i've tried. The warm sake tasted like pure alcohol, no other flavor. The salad was very simple lettuce and finely shredded carrots. They won't let a single person sit at the hibachi bar, but still costs full price if you want hibachi style food. The waitress was nice. For the area this is better than can be expected of a small country town. I highly reccomend this restaurant if you want an upper asian experience for a meal, I liked it way more than the Bistro. The drink menu was very vast in selection as well. The prices are very reasonable. read more

I got more than yummy food tonight! This place has always made good food. We love the hibachi, and it's always wildly entertaining to interact with the chefs. However, tonight was more than just yummy food. My parents, niece, son, and I all went out to eat here after seeing an excellent production by Ballet Wooster. We had a great time at the hibachi, especially because it was my niece's first time ever going to a hibachi place. After they brought us a couple to-go containers for the food the kids couldn't finish, the server told me that one of my former students pointed me out to her and said, "He was my teacher, and I had his wife as a teacher, too. The top thing I'm going to say about Osaka is it very hit or miss. I find this place to be extremely slow, even when the place isn't busy. It's like there is no sense of urgency. Pretty standard hibachi restaurant. Hibachi performers are great, rangoon is great, sushi is great, best general tso's I've ever had, sashimi is great. All in all great restaurant, only thing keeping it from being 5/5 is their takeout! When ordering Hibachi takeout, they do not cook the noodles and meat in the same sauce they would cook on the grill as they keep everything separate and compartmentalized, meaning that, what little sauce they do add/give to you, it is cold. Actually, as I type this, I remember this being a recurring theme with some orders whether inside, or out. Has happened a lot less while inside, but takeout? It's an actual coin toss whether it will be hot or cold, regardless of how on time you were to get it. Their soup can also be hit or miss. Their clear soup and miso soup can be very salty and flavorful one day, watery the next. I don't claim to know the happenings of their soup, but a little consistency couldn't hurt? When it's good it's great. When it's cold, it's cold. Don't shy away though! This is the best asian place in Wooster no doubt. read more

We were seated in about 2 min. to our hibachi grill/table. Quick ordering process! And then drinks, soup and salad! Our grill master was hysterical and fun! Food was exceptional !!! My only complaint is that they were more concerned with boxing up our food than offering refills, almost immediately after our food was done being prepared. We always love anything with an Asian twist and Osaka was no exception. Hands down, some amazing sushi. We ordered several combination platters so we can share and they did not disappoint. There are so many options on the menu--from hand rolls, to shashimi, to traditional seaweed rolls. We mixed it up with some seaweed salad, tempura, and soups and were delighted. Came to visit Wooster area for a wrestling tournament and was craving sushi. Came to Osaka and sat at a regular table instead of Habachi. Waited 20 min atleast on two drinks from the bar, the woman came to our table and apologized to us and said she was too busy to make drinks. 40 min later we received our sashimi plate for two. The fish tasted like it was too old to be serving us, the ginger and wasabi were both dried out and my dads habachi dinner came out cold. Stopped here on the way back to columbus after a day of hiking in Cuyahoga. Was looking for a nice place to eat and the options were limited since it was a sunday night. Found this place and decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you we were absolutely blown away. We got the Red Bull sushi and the filet mignon hibachi meal and everything was absolutely devine. I'm really not a sushi fan but I ate my fair share of those rolls. And the hibachi... the steak was so tender and juicy and flavorful. I normally smother my food in soy sauce to add that extra flavor but they used some sort of ginger sauce to cook everything in and it was so tasty. You should absolutely give this place a visit. This is your typical Hibachi/Tepenyaki style restaurant. Lucky for Wooster, it just opened and is new and refreshing. Also, compared to the other Asian places in the area, this one is the best. I gave it four stars be as of that fact, otherwise, it would have been a high three based on the food. The best time to go is at lunch, but beware because lunchtime gets very busy because the prices are almost half what they are at dinner. If you're looking for something faster, skip the hibachi and just sit down. You can still get the hibachi food, but don't have to go through the show if you don't want to. The chef's are entertaining and well trained. And like I said, it's a new restaurant so the chef's aren't burnt out from doing the same thing over and over, so you may get a little more entertainment. Now, food quality: the food quality is just okay. They've cut corners where they can. This is the first place like this where they toss raw zucchini into your mouth instead of the traditional shrimp. The cuts of meat are fine, I don't recommend the steak. If you want beef, spring for the filet mignon. The soup is more of a very lightly flavored broth and the salad doesn't have a typical ginger sauce, but rather, a watered down thousand island. The cooks don't flavor the food very heavily, so have the ginger sauce and some soy sauce on hand. Also, the food doesn't taste good the next day, so be prepared to come hungry or share. Now let's talk sushi. While this is hands down the best sushi in Wooster, it's a bit heavy handed. The pieces of sushi are rather large. The deep fried (tempura) tolls were very heavy, and while although the flavor was there, it should be delicate and light. read more
