I came here for a quick lunch before my Red Cross appointment. And like always, the food was on point. I got the dan dan noodles lunch special ($10.95). In addition to noodles, the lunch special came with your choice of soup, a spring roll, or 2 crab rangoon. I opted for the crab rangoon. I also ordered 2 dim sum dishes - the shrimp dumplings ($6.50) and snow mountain lava buns ($6.50). The crab rangoon came out first, and they were delicious, hot, and crispy. Then I got the dan dan noodles. The noodles had a bit of a kick, but they weren't overwhelmingly spicy. They had a nice chew, and I slurped them up happily. I just wish there were more noodles lol, but the portions were pretty typical for dan dan noodles at Greater Cleveland restaurants. The dim sum was great. The shrimp dumplings were tender and juicy, and the buns were so fluffy. Be careful eating them though, or you might get hot, delicious egg goo all over your hands, lol. First time trying this place. Myself and 2 friends went for lunch today (Saturday afternoon). They weren't super busy, maybe 4 other tables. Service was great, fast, very nice and helpful to explain questions we had. We tried some apps, soup, entrees and everything was soo delicious and hot/fresh! For reference, my #1 Favorite (for decades) has been King Wah in Rocky River. This place is now my second favorite. We will definitely be back. Only one thing was disappointing. My family and I went here for dinner this week. It was the worst meal we ever had. The wonton soup was terrible. Brown broth like it was made with bouillon cubes. The fried rice tasted bland and greasy. Not even adding soy sauce helped. Worse of all the sweet and sour chicken was gross. It was chicken nuggets and the sweet and sour sauce was watered down. The most unfriendly staff we've ever seen perhaps. They dropped the food off and disappeared. No one ever checked to see if we wanted anything or if we were satisfied with the meal. No hello or goodbye. We were very uncomfortable. My husband went back in after we went out to our vehicle just to let them know we will not be returning due to the rudeness we encountered. I used to be a weekly customer, but now I will never set foot in this place again. The food is very good, but I was charged for not only for my meal but the ladies take out in front of me. Confronted with a $76.00 bill (hers) and a $22.00 (mine), the cashier refused to issue a refund for a mistake she admitted to. I showed her proof on my phone and even called American Express to prove that the charge did go on my card. She told me to come back tomorrow. I did. Three employees tried to explain to me that they could not refund the money because now it is pending. I spent 40 minutes there that night with no results. The service at this place is horrible. They took 1 hour to make a simple 3 item order. Yes they were busy. Last time I ordered a simple Wonton soup takeout. They didn't include soup noodles a standard thing So tonight after waiting for almost a half hour sitting on the chair waiting the food finally emerges. I ask specifically ate there noodles for the soup. He says yes !! Well I just got home no noodles and the Wonton soup is room temperature. Their food is a little better than average but their attitude really needs improvement 5 times they tell your food is coming. But they took my money second I walked in. Really wanted to try this place compared to Asiatown's restaurant and the menu is the same and quality is pretty similar. I do wish the spicy fish came out a little crispier but flavor of all dishes were delicious and I love the decent portions. I bookmarked Szechuan Gourmet a while back and I decided that tonight's dinner night was going to be at this restaurant. The reviews were excellent, so off we went. Upon arrival around 6pm, the place was nearly empty and we were promptly seated. A waitress took our drink requests and provided menus. We requested pot stickers as an appetizer and my daughter requested wonton soup. A minute later, the soup was delivered along with the potstickers. My daughter said the wonton soup was excellent and she made it disappear quickly. The potstickers were also excellent and my expectations were brimming. For dinner, I requested General Tso's chicken, my son requested sweet and sour chicken, and my wife requested pork and vegetables. We all requested fried rice. Soon after, the food arrived. The flavors were excellent and the level of spice was noticeable, but not overwhelming. I noticed a salty taste to my dish, as did my wife. My son's sweet and sour chicken was perfect. My daughter really liked her pork dish. After eating more of our meals, my wife and I both agreed that the amount of MSG was just too much. The dishes were very salty. Later that evening, we had to keep drinking water because we were getting dehydrated. While the flavors were good, some of the dishes can be very salty. The service was excellent. read more

I genuinely did not expect such good authentic Chinese food in Strongsville, Ohio of all places! We ordered the: Dried Sauteed String Beans - I think this is a must get, these string beans were addicting. They were dried enough to have a crisp to them, but not too dry that they were hard to chew. And they had a nice saltiness to them that made me keep eating more. Mapo Tofu with Pork - the tofu was so soft and the sauce was perfect over some steamed rice Braised ribs with brown sauce - possibly my favorite of the meal. Perfectly hits both sweet and savory, and the meat was so tender. The server was also so nice, and very efficient with getting our order and bringing the food out. It was just me and my boyfriend and we easily demolished these three dishes without any leftovers just because it was so good. And we genuinely considered coming back the next day for dinner. I've eaten at the Szechuan Gourmet located in Asia town, and was curious to try this location wondering if they're the same in terms of quality and quantity( sorry for the comparison I was just plain curious). The quality is the same, the quantity however is comparatively lesser than that of the Asia Town one. The taste though makes up for everything, the service is quick as it's counterpart and the place is definitely an upgraded version. We ordered a pot of tea, dumplings in chilli oil, chicken in three cup sauce with fried rice (instead of regular steamed rice), ho fun noodles (with veggies). We loved everything except maybe the fried rice cos it seemed like it was simply steamed rice stir fried in oil and soy sauce, no veggies no seasonings - it seemed pretty plain except for the color which was brownish(cos of the soy sauce I assume) but the ho fun was absolutely yummmmmmm! read more

We came here for lunch and really enjoyed the food! The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a Sephora and near Heinens and Target. I had the scallion pancake and the veggie lo mein, both of which were delicious. My husband and I came in to have Asian food, we were barely greeted and sat by the host, he handed us menus and that was the end of our experience. I been here a few times, mostly take out. This place is very weird for me. They are the most authentic Chinese and Americanized Chinese food. What do I mean? They have very popular authentic Asian dishes but gives it the most Americanized name. The dishes are authentic, but they put Americanized ingredients. You can't satisfied the American palette nor can you satisfy your Asian palette. I wish they neither lean towards authentic or go full Americanized Chinese. Sadly disappointed. My husband was going to be out this way so I decided to try this place. What a disappointment. I ordered Vegetable Lo Mein and the noodles were overcooked and mushy and there were hardly any vegetables! I love bok choy and was going to order the Steamed Bok Choy and Black Mushrooms, but ordered the Mixed Vegetables instead, thinking there would surely be some bok choy in it, but there was none. But there were overcooked vegetables, including some anemic, nearly white wax beans--wax beans!!! I had tofu added, which was okay, but there was not NEARLY enough of it for the $2 extra charge. I also opted for vegetable fried rice instead of white rice, at a $4.50 extra charge. What I got for vegetables were peas and carrots from a frozen mix, some onions, and some bean sprouts (very sparse on the bean sprouts). And that was it. So I will never be back. I'll stick with China House in Berea, which is always, always excellent. Loads of fresh veggies, including plenty of bok choy, never overcooked; noodles cooked just right and flavorful sauces; and generous portions. I love their vegetable lo mein; the leftover lo mein I got from Szechuan Gourmet we'll eat begrudgingly for lunch whereas we get two dinners out of what we order from Berea China House. TLDR: If you're waffling whether or not to try this place, try it. Good food, excellent wonton soup broth, friendly service, clean, but maybe a bit expensive and lacking a detail here or there. Solid 4 stars. Pleasantly surprised, this isn't just a take-out place, the table service was very nice. Clean and welcoming inside, Asian cooking videos were playing on the TV we could see, which was a welcome change of pace and fit the environment. Everyone was friendly, lots of options on the menu, good tea. Started with a chicken egg roll and serving of wonton soup. Their soup broth is probably the best in the city, something I'm quite passionate about. Wontons were just okay. We enjoyed the Double Cooked Sliced Pork with Cabbage and Chicken with Mushroom. Pork and cabbage has a little heat that can sneak up on you if that's not your thing, but I like it spicy so I asked for some chili oil which was pretty darn good and spicy. Speaking of condiments, I did have to ask for chili oil and soy sauce, they weren't offered and are not out on the tables, which is something I'm used to. Still, servers were kind and immediately accommodating when condiments were requested. The egg fried rice served with the entrees was egg-celent. Another thing, our first pot of tea was only warm, not hot like one would hope for on a chilly spring evening. When we informed the server our pot of tea was cold it was immediately replaced with a hot one. Prices are a little high in my opinion for the portions served, but it shouldn't break your wallet. I'll definitely return, probably both to dine-in and to order take-out. Because of prices it'll be a sometimes occasion, and not a place I visit once a month or more. I'm sorry to say I've only had one or two things here that are to my liking. Last night's dinner was terrible and was thrown away. It's weird when the pork egg rolls taste EXACTLY like the stuff you'd buy in your grocery store freezer - and they're among the best tasting food you had w/ a meal. I tried the Fried Beef Curry and it was disgusting. Since they're supposed to be authentic, I try new things hoping to discover something new I might like, and it's never worked out. Everything I've tried has been swimming in oil, too hot and, in the case of the beef curry, taste ok, at best. It was too hot (my fault) and the seasoning powders/spices weren't cooked so it was just a sludge in crap on the beef. The fried rice had nothing in it other than soy sauce and was bland. My wife had lo-mein - also bland. The scallion pancakes tasted good but were greasy as hell and almost too tough to chew through. After 3 or 4 attempts to dine here with little to no success, we're done. I'll give a star for the General Tso's chicken, though. I had it previously and thought it was pretty good. read more
