The Bask Hotel is a great choice if you are staying in Morehead City. The rooms are very clean and everything is a short walk away, whether that's headed to the pier or heading out for food. The staff were friendly and prompt to greet us upon check-in; the lobby is large and tidy. The rooms are well kept and spacious. We chose a suite room with a water view and weren't disappointed. It was super nice with a full kitchen and large living room in addition to a spacious room and bathroom. Beautiful views and nice size balconies round out the experience. Only two things quickly to note: 1) The balconies are lovely, but we had a weird experience with little finches getting caught between the concrete of the balcony edge and the gap between the clear plexiglass. We ended up rescuing 2 birds in the same morning, so hoping that doesn't happen frequently. Poor birds. 2) The breakfast is a bit sparse and comes off as somewhat cheap. Lovely to have it delivered to your room, but the portions were super tiny and pretty sparse overall. I would've preferred a traditional continental breakfast. Minor quibble but ultimately does matter in guest satisfaction overall. Overall a really nice hotel, good location and very clear with a few quirks. read more

We did a "staycation" so that we could participate in the Misplaced Mutts 2024 pub crawl. The event was great and if you are looking for an organization to support, I would recommend them. Our choice of parking and waling to the 6 bars was a smart idea. :) The Bask's location can not be beat if you need to be in downtown Morehead city. We had a great check-in experience and were able to park in the lot 3 hours before official time. Our room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the water. It gave us a great view of the intercoastal waterway and Atlantic Beach. It came with a small kitchen that we did not use except for the coffee maker. The room was clean and met our needs. As others have said the breakfast was less than ideal. We ordered the night before and it came to our room at the appointed time. Both of us ordered yogurt and neither of us got what we ordered. My "Blue Marlin-Bask Signature" breakfast was OK but the avocado cream cheese sauce was nothing more than a small cup of cream cheese with very little avocado on top. The assorted muffins were 2 muffins that may have come from Costco. Adequate, but nothing special. My partner ordered a custom sandwich which was nothing memorable and she did not eat it. In addition to her missing yogurt, she was missing banana bread with no substitution. Lucky that she ordered milk because there were no coffee fixings (sweetener, cream, etc..) of any kind for the Keurig. Would we come back? Sure, if we needed to stay in Morehead City but we would skip the breakfast and walk up to the Big Rock Cafe (formerly Grumpys) for a real breakfast. read more

First time to stay at this property. It's clean, renovated, and somewhat upscale. Some little details still loom. Mold in overflow drain in bathroom sink, rust on paper holder. Staff was nice, accommodating for our late arrival. Beds comfortable, clean room, furniture, carpet. We'd stay here again. Centrally located to walk to restaurants, waterfront. This was first time back to area in about 20 years. I'll be back the location, price, and size of the apartment style "rooms and views are great. Unfortunately, my room's water heater never provided more than a few minutes of lukewarm warm water, so showering was a short, invigorating experience. If not for that problem, I'd happily rate this a 4 or 5. read more

Great hotel, convention, friendly staff great value

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately there were number of things that just soured the overall experience. The location of the hotel is great, near the water! General first impression inside the hotel is very good, the lobby is spacious and well appointed with a nice view of the water. A good amount of artwork in the hallways. It's obvious that a good bit of attention has been given to the common spaces, but the reality is that I never saw anyone using these spaces. The hotel had two elevators which were actually nice and large (larger than those in the vast majority of hotels) and they seem to work quickly. The first impression of the room was also good, nothing big or special, but perfectly adequate for a mid priced hotel. However the problems and issues with the room became very obvious upon closer inspection. The first issue may seem tiny, but the TV was definitely small by today's standards and given the low cost of TVs I don't understand why the rooms are not provided with adequately sized TVs. Certainly made watching TV while sitting in bed a challenge and there was nowhere else to sit to watch TV. The second item to mention is the little pseudo-kitchenette. Maybe at first glance it seems nice, but without a sink it's really just a small bit of counter space and storage. I think a sink would really have been helpful given the small size of the sink counter space in the bathroom. And the final and most important observations in the room were in the bathroom. A non-functioning bathroom fan and black mold over the shower! I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see how visible mold can ever be acceptable! I guess the non-functioning fan would certainly explain some of the moisture problems in the bathroom. And while I did not use the bathtub, I would like to point out that it seemed very small - maybe adequate for a child, but certainly not big enough for an adult to take a soak. I would like to also point out the the AAA rate is not what they charge for the room, they add another $7 a day for parking which seems really inappropriate to me given their location - it's not like the hotel is downtown in a major city. Finally I would like to highlight that they are not providing a breakfast buffet as other hotels on my travels are currently doing. This was a major disappointment! You are now forced to select from a limited breakfast menu and the food is delivered outside your door in the early morning. Now maybe some might consider this an attempt by the hotel to make reasonable accommodations given today's environment, but I don't see it that way. The actual amount of food that was provided was VERY small - tiny sandwiches, and no coffee at all!! Now I'm not looking to overeat, but it really seems like the hotel is just doing this as a way for the hotel to save money on breakfast. This seems unfortunate given the room rates. I had heard that this hotel was recently renovated - I don't know if that's accurate or not. But my overall impression is that they skimped on the hotel construction or renovations, and they are also doing the same when it comes to maintenance. There seemed to be little or no sound insulation between rooms based on the noises coming from other rooms. I also had a lamp with obviously a three way switch, but a three way bulb was not provided. I know that's a small item, but as far as I'm concerned it's the details that make or break a place. I don't know if management is unaware of these types of problems in their hotel, or if they simply don't care, but either one is unacceptable to me and certainly won't earn my repeat business. read more

Beautiful facility, very nice ocean views. Front desk service was excellent. Breakfast was very poor quality and not well arranged by boxes preordered. Food service staff forgot some things from the preordered items and choices were not good for what was available. This must be corrected totally if they hope for repeat business. read more

My husband and I usually like to stay in Beaufort, but the appeal of a two bedroom suite for the price of a regular hotel room really got us. The Bask hotel used to be an apartment complex that was renovated into hotel rooms. This gives the hotel the opportunity to have some very spacious rooms. I was pleasantly shocked by how big our two bedroom suite was. We had a partial water view with a nice balcony, two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, and two bathrooms. The room for a typical suite was enormous. The kitchen had a few plates and plenty of glasses. I don't expect you could cook a full meal due to the lack of pots, etc. but it was perfect for heating up leftovers and keeping drinks cold. The balcony had a four top high table and an Adirondack chair that I really enjoyed in the morning. The beds were comfortable, not the best I've ever slept on, but pretty decent. They had extra bedding which is always a plus too. All of the places we wanted to go to where within walking distance or a short uber trip (Beaufort). The staff were incredibly nice and took the Covid precautions seriously. Although we picked up the continental breakfast we went to a restaurant instead. The hotel and room was very clean even with reduced housekeeping. I'd definitely stay here again. It wasn't luxury, but it was spacious, clean, and convenient. read more

We had a great experience at Bask! We really liked that employees were wearing masks. We also liked how breakfast was served per Covid precautions, we were able to order "room service" from a continental breakfast style menu instead of everything sitting out and the lobby being a place for lots of guests to sit and eat together. This is the only place I would want to stay when we're in town for the Big Rock. The staff is so friendly and helpful and the hotel Is beautiful. Perfect location for all of the festivities involved with the fishing tournament. The breakfast option with the covid restrictions was perfect and just right to start the day. Everyone was so nice. This is a nice hotel with spacious rooms. We selected to stay in the Queen waterfront suite because it had a full kitchen. I have food allergies and have to make most of my food instead of eating out. You would think if they have a full kitchen they would also have pots, pans, utensils, cups etc. Instead we found four plates, 3 cups, 3 spoons, 2 butter knives, 1 fork and 1 prep knife. For a family of 4. Absolutely no cooking utensils, pots or pans. I inquired at the desk and a nice lady found a few pots and pans for me. I asked for a spatula or tongs and a gentleman immediately stated they didn't have those and I could order door dash to deliver a spatula to me. My husband asked for at least 3 more forks, so we could eat breakfast and he was told he couldn't get them due to covid? He did find enough plastic forks that so we had to wash and reuse all weekend. Overall a nice clean place to stay, just would expect better service for the cost of the stay. read more

The ONLY redeeming quality at this hotel is the helpful and friendly STAFF. The room, however, felt budget-rate & economy. The AC /HEAT was SO LOUD -- like a train! (Not kidding!) Instead of fixing it, they put a sign by it that read 'This is normal.' I assure you, it is NOT NORMAL. The mini-kitchen had a ceiling light but it did not work. There were a few mismatched dishes, but if 2 people ate together, they'd use different-sized plates & bowls! The silverware drawer was not clean and had VERY minimal utensils. No sponge was provided at the sink. There was not even an outlet by the small table, making it impossible to plug in a laptop to work on the only workspace in the room. When they bring breakfast to the room, expect them to kick your door and place your tray on the FLOOR outside -- reminiscent of feeding a dog. (I was prepared each morning with a $10 bill to tip the delivery person if only they'd have realized they were dealing with humans, but they ran off too quickly.) The lobby is very nice, but the rooms are VERY disappointing and SO tacky & cheap. Even the beds are extremely cheap & basic, and uncomfortable. My husband and I barely slept for the 3 nights we were there, between the 'freight train' heating unit, spongy mattress, and Dollar Store pillows!' (*This hotel was not our first choice, and we'd have left if there had been availability at other hotels in town. We will not be returning until the owners put a little money into the accommodations. They don't even provide daily cleaning at this place, and if you need towels, etc., you have to go to the front desk and ask for them -- like you're at a backpacker's HOSTEL, for Pete's sake!) A very disappointing experience overall. We were SO glad to leave! read more

I have found the best spot in Morehead City to stay! Pricing-unbelievable. Customer service-Wonderful. Parking-Perfect. View-Stellar. Bed-The best! I pulled up to this huge building overlooking the Intercostal waterway and directly in downtown Morehead City where all the restaurants and shops are. The location is perfect. There are docks outside and you are a 10 min drive to Atlantic Beach. Their fitness center is really nice and they have a 24 hour snack center that has champagne and a lot of great items. There is a complimentary breakfast, too. My room was Room 704 and it was heavenly. The whole place is very clean. I loved the decor (even in the elevator.). My room had a full kitchen with dishes and a full-size refrigerator that made CRUSHED ice!!! That was a big one for me The bathroom has Eucalyptus Spearmint Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. Windows surrounded the living room and bedroom looking out to the water. I could live here. Seriously, I wish it was for sell. I will definitely be back! read more

We loved our stay here! From the moment we walked in to when we walked out. The water views were absolutely amazing and it was so nice and relaxing to sit on the balcony. I enjoyed the to-go style complimentary breakfast. Our room was super clean along with everywhere else in the hotel that we noticed. Great place for water view thats away from al the chaos. I took my husband there for his 40th birthday in hopes of a good time. Now don't get me wrong the views from the suites are spectacular. My issue is more with the management team. When we arrived we found out that the breakfast buffet was changed to instant oatmeal, muffins, a granola bar, and juice due to covid which is understandable because their website states that some amenities aren't available, cool. Upon entering our suite we found dirty dishes, one pot, and no silverware but my sister's room was fully stocked (mind you she had dirty dishes as well). When I asked about the kitchen utensils I was told that some rooms have supplies and other rooms don't, again due to covid. The manager told us we would get a discount on our stay and it has been a month and I still haven't seen a refund issued to my card. I've called several times and have been told that Christine would call me back and have yet to receive said call. I don't appreciate the dishonesty and would not recommend this hotel. read more
