Overall the hotel is fine. If you have to stay here you'll live, if you have a choice maybe choose elsewhere. Pros: Breakfast was great, views were beautiful, centrally located to shops/food, pet friendly, nice gym Cons: Dated, dim, a little dirty, couch/tables in our suite had really seen better days, no full length mirror in the room, pricey for what you're getting It felt like they were in the midsts of renovations, the lobby looked more modern and so did the hallways when you got off the elevators, but the upgrades had not made their way to the rooms yet. This hotel is nestled close to restaurants and other amenities in the area which supports a Marine Corps Base. Rooms are clean, no frills and tended to daily. Front desk staff are super pleasant and helpful. The hotel provides a very nice breakfast service at no cost and free bottles of water. Coffee is delicious xand fresh. My husband and I stayed at this hotel when we recently visited family in the area. I had just signed up for the Hilton honors rewards program and it was my first time utilizing some of the perks. Communication was fantastic. Was able to check on my reservation through the Hilton Honors app and was able to check in through the app and even get a digital key. I did not have to go to the front desk at all. We had a room with two beds that faced the water. It was very nice. It was not over-the-top fancy, but was definitely comfortable. We took advantage of the free hot breakfast buffet the two mornings that we were there. I enjoyed the waffle that my husband made me with the waffle maker. All of the usual breakfast buffet items were there as well. Sausage, bacon, muffins, eggs, etc. The hotel lobby is very nice and the one time I did ask the front desk employee a question she was very helpful. If you are looking for a hotel that is centrally located, with very nice water views, and some nice included benefits, such as the hot breakfast buffet, you should definitely consider this hotel. read more

Upon entering the hotel the staff didn't acknowledge us and one young lady was smiling down at her phone until we had been standing at the desk for a minute. We did receive the same smile she had granted her phone and she barely made eye contact. We got a water facing room on the top floor. We did get free water upon checkin since we are Hilton members. When we entered our room we had a nice view and could see the pool. The bed was clean but the room smelled faintly of weed and the chair was stained. The bathroom wasn't mostly clean but the walls had white splatter like maybe toothpaste and the shower was stained yellow. The shower curtain had lots of pulls in it because it was so worn. When found another hotel within 25 min which was 1000% better. It was fresh and clean and welcoming. We drove back to the Hampton Inn to gather our things. We told the front desk we wanted to check out and cancel our reservations for the next night as the room didn't meet our standards. There was no apologies or questions about what we didn't find acceptable and no offer to transfer us to another room. She simply said she couldn't check us out until after audit tonight. I'm not sure what that means as it was 11pm and we had only checked in at 630. Very disappointing. read more

I had another wonderful stay here. I have stayed here several times over the last 3 years. What I like most about this hotel are the trees and water surrounding it. The natural landscape Is breathtaking. It's a regular Hampton Inn. Same old as every other one. Bedding is great- breakfast is great- and rooms are clean. This is definitely the best middle of the price bracket hotel in the area. The pool and fitness center are also great. The only thing that is annoying is the huge table for social distancing at check in. I don't know why they are using that when they have protective shields up. read more

I'll typically stay at the Morehead Hampton when I'm in town. It's a solid stay in all aspects: customer service, accommodations, cleanliness and room size. Price in the off-season is totally reasonable, but expect it to jump up during the summer! (It's a beach town, after all!) The complimentary breakfast before COVID was always a decent selection. With the present situation, it's been relegated to a box breakfast; nothing worth grabbing, really. Can't wait for the real breakfast to return! Overall, a nice stay. read more

Restaurant in the parking lot that was great - 10/29/18 - Really disappointed in the hotel. It was dirty. For $200 a night I would expect better. The breakfast this morning was awful. The sheets look like they had not been changed on the bed and you couldn't see the view because the windows were so dirty. That's too bad the Marriott brand won't come to Moorehead because this Hampton Inn has gone downhill and you are stuck with minimal options. read more

Not bad for a work hotel, views are nice but the hotel is very dated. It was as clean as can be expected for an older hotel. My biggest gripe is that the hotel store is "cashless"....not a big deal to some, but the idea of not accepting US cash somewhat chaps me. We came to see my newborn grandson & needed a place to stay thinking that the Hampton Inn should be great. Because the trip took 18 hours, we weren't able to check in until around 9 PM and were so tired after our drive. We were terribly disappointed when we noticed how disgusting the grime was in the bathroom. There was dust everywhere, and the carpet smelled. We checked out the next morning and went to the Bask hotel where they had a room ready for us by 10:30 AM. Never going to stay at Hampton Inn again when I visit! read more

My room has ants and I am a healthcare worker contracted to be here for 30 days - the manager Camille Owens was angry bc i had to go to work this am and couldn't move until 5 pm after work . She gave the room away to someone else , she said you should have moved this morning when there was a room to move to or let us spray your room (IM ALLERGIC TO AEROSOLS!!) is why didn't get it sprayed . So my punishment is to have to sleep with the ants . I am scheduled to work here for 6 months - so they will be losing a ton of money . The front desk staff's welcome was underwhelming. The rooms were older but clean. However, when I came into the room, there were ants and the a/c was not working making it sweltering in the room. I called downstairs and asked to be moved to a different room and was told that the property was booked but they would send maintenance. I informed them I needed to get dressed for a wedding and be prompt. 15 mins later the front desk called again to see if I was ready for maintenance to come up. I explained again that I was getting dressed for a wedding and didn't want to be late but when I came down to leave for the wedding, I'd let them know the room was ready to be serviced. 10 minutes later, maintenance knocked at the door. When I asked who it was, the maintenance staff identified themselves. I told him it would be just a minute and he exclaimed, "Well, I'm getting off!" and walked away. I hurriedly threw my clothes on and grabbed my belongings to try to catch up with him and he was gone. I went downstairs to let them know what happened. Thankfully the manager was there and told the employees to re-route all maintenance requests to her because maintenance had "been trippin'". Because of these interactions, I was 8 minutes late for the wedding and missed seeing my good friend walk down the aisle. When I returned to the room the issues were resolved but this interaction certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. I have never experienced such poor service at a Hilton hotel. I will not be returning to this property nor recommending it to others. read more

Yaaaaas guys! What a sweet find. I wasn't overly thrilled at first with the idea of a Hampton Inn, but when Nana and G'Pa come to town last minute and we wanted to get away before the holiday weekend, it was either this or a no-tell-motel. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the lobby and pool were clean. The views were amazing, and location could not have been better. Our room was a great size, and again, everything was clean and updated. One downside was their 'store' wasn't really stocked well, but I give them a pass since it was a holiday weekend, who's to say their supplier wasn't on vacation. This hotel looks really nice from the outside, but once you step inside the room, it is very disappointing. The rooms are dark, muggy and don't smell clean. A typical Hampton Inn that is getting a little dated - I think a remodel is in order soon. However, it is conveniently located just off Arendell Street with plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. For dinner, go to the bistro just in front of the hotel. The best thing this hotel has going for it, though, is the views of Bogue Sound from the higher floors on the odd numbered side - definitely try to get one of those if you can. read more

I booked this hotel through the Hilton App, what a disappointment! This is a Motel. As I walked in the smell of marijuana greeted me. The hallway to my room was dirty. Upon opening the door to my room the door appear to be the warped and off the hinges. The door had 3 inches underneath it and was not flush. If someone wanted to get through that door it would be very easy. The insulation around the door is all but gone. The bed skirt was too big for the bed making the bed look sloppy. I booked an ocean view and when I looked outside of my room I had a view of the parking lot. The chair and ottoman in the room was full of dirt spots. I was awakened at 4am by the guest's in the adjacent room SNORING! To make matters worse, it looked as if my toilet had not been cleaned in months. The toilet had black/gray lines around the bowl. What a disappointment! Never again Hilton. read more

As soon as you enter this hotel, you feel like you are on vacation. The circular drive with palm trees and landscaping are very inviting. There is ample parking on all sides of the hotel and the location on 70 is perfect. The lobby feels like a beach house foyer with nautical decor and a pleasant view of Bogue Sound. Check-in was a breeze after picking my room online a day before. The hallways are very wide and you can tell from the other online photos that this property has been renovated. The furniture is very modern and the curtains, white duvets and flat screen tvs all add a fresh touch. The bathroom fixtures are also new and the rooms with blue and yellow hues are very cozy. There is a coffee station in the lobby and you can get hot coffee or tea any time of day. The breakfast was really delicious with a waffle station, fruit, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal and breads. The scrambled eggs were the only thing that were fake so skip those. The best part is the view of the Sound as you have your breakfast. The staff at this hotel is super friendly and we really had a perfect stay. Thank you and we can't wait to come back! read more

Stayed here in the offseason - we had a "waterview king room" and they gave us 4th floor. It was great! Make sure to note that because of the way the hotel is situated on the sound, this is NOT an ocean view and it actually faces west. The benefit is that you can see a beautiful sunset over the water. The sound is really wide at this point, so while you can see across it, it definitely has a nice feel to it. It's not like looking out over a river. The room was exactly what you expect at a Hampton Inn - clean, updated within the last 5-10 years, and quiet. Nice flatscreen TV. Service was good - the person at the desk seemed kind of laid-back, but as soon as we asked for things (forgotten toothbrush, directions to a place nearby) she was immediately very helpful. We would definitely stay here again. The property was beautiful and the room was exactly what we were looking for. read more

My only complaint about the room was the bottom sheet on the bed didn't really fit the bed, kept sliding off. The front desk provided a few items that we forgot. Best thing though absolutely had to be the continental breakfast. Waffles, sausage, eggs, potatoes, assorted breads and danishes. It was way more than we expected. Stayed here for business 4 days and even though most of the guests were on vacation or passing through my room was fairly quiet and I was able to get my work done and enjoy my downtime at the hotel. Daily breakfast in lobby where waffles were made by me and other options well maintained by the friendly staff. My room was decent and clean with comfortable bedding and working cooling system! I was actually impressed how well the air conditioner kept my room cool considering the heat and humidity outside was very sticky and hot. Would return here if in the area! read more

I stayed at this hotel the weekend of 4/29 and found a dead tick in my hotel room. The front desk did not apologize but called the maintenance man to assist. When the maintenance man talked to me, he blankly looked at me as if I were ridiculous for brining the tick to their attention; He acted like this is a common issue (one which I have not experienced at any other hotel). I am not one to normally complain but this is a valid issue. Apparently, the hotel staff thought otherwise. I ended up staying in the room (due to lack of any other options, trust me I looked), having the room sprayed for insects and sleeping with a shower cap on. Hopefully, this was a one time issue but I would definitely check your room when staying here. Hopefully the staff will be more accommodating to others. read more

I reserved a room over Thanksgiving for a few days, I didn't receive any information that services would be limited due to the Holiday season when I called to make the reservation. Upon arriving at check in, they informed me that services would be limited due to it being Thanksgiving holiday. There was 5 of us staying in the room in which we only had 4 towels and wash cloths. I called them to let them know and they told me to come to the front desk to pick it up (This was a first for me that they wouldn't even bring it to the room). They put us on a list to make sure we received what we need the next day, day 2 they only gave us 3 towels and when I went to the front desk again the lady at the front desk just made excuses as to why we didn't receive what we needed even when I explained it to her . We had no sheets for the pull out bed in which you guessed it, another trip to the front desk. I guess you've figured it out by now that I will never stay at this hotel again!! read more
