I come to this place all the time and they have really good stuff. The only reason why I give it a 3 star is because they sell wigs and you can't try them on. I think that is ridiculous. If you sell wigs, you should let the consumer try them on if they buy a wig cap therefore I'm no longer shopping here because I wear wigs on a regular and I like to try them on before I purchase them to make sure they fit right maybe they should consider letting people try the wigs on like other places read more

I spent a ton of money in this place. The staff is very nice and my daughter likes to shop there. They post that their business hours are open till 6 PM so when I pulled up at 5:50 and couldn't open the door, the guy inside told me that they lock their doors at 5:50.!! why doesn't it say that on the Internet? Why don't they say they close at 5:50. I left work when I had literally had 10 more minutes of work to do but I needed to get a few things for my daughter so I raced over there and they would not let me in. I've been going to this beauty supply for the past four years and it's been my go to!! But today I had an awful experience with the cashier working there today. I was shopping around 3:40 pm and I had lots of items I wished to purchase. I let the cashier know that I'll be doing MULTIPLE transactions and I'm guessing she didn't hear me well. As we got to the second transaction, she started scanning what I didn't place for her to scan and I let her know nicely that certain items were going to be separate. With a big nasty attitude she said that I told her it'll only be two transactions, putting words into my mouth. I didn't want to fight her over her inattentiveness so I stayed shut. I hope that the owner gives her proper retail training on how to treat and welcome customers! It's unacceptable to make a customer feel unwelcome and mostly to put words into their mouth. It's not the first time I've encountered this specific cashier, any time she's been there I always am met with an attitude, today was just worst!!! Big store with many options that cater to that cute and lavish look but sucky return/exchange policy. I bought some crochet hair 8 days ago and after I read the receipt, I saw I only had 7 days to return the item BUT at the bottom of the receipt it says "store credit after original purchase date." I was confused and went to the store to clarify. I was told by a middle aged Asian male that the policy changed and you can only return/exchange within 7 days. I stared at him in confusion and explained I wanted to get something else in the store but he didnt budge so I assume he wanted me to buy that. Lol I hate politics on a receipt. After having breakfast at the Rusty Pot this morning we went walking down Market street and we happened upon this beauty supply. Unlike a lot of beauty supplies we were greeted the second we walked in the door. No one followed us around and several people asked to assist us with whatever we needed. I thought what the heck I'd look for a new wig. I found a super cute one, the young lady in the wig section was extremely helpful. After getting my wig I then needed wig spray, once again I was taken to that area and assisted with a variety of wig sprays. The beauty supply was well stocked and it was a very pleasant experience. After today, this store deserves no stars. I've been coming to this spot for years. It's been my favorite beauty supply. But today I came in to exchange a belly button ring they sold me that doesn't open. One of the Asian owners immediately ignored cashiers explanation about the broken ring and she dismissed me by saying no exchanges and walked away saying she was busy. I didn't settle for that response. After 3 minutes of trying to explain to her that they sold me a broken ring "she finally heard me". I got the exchange but the stench of racism and discrimination was thick in the air! I'm bummed because I really loved that store. We were on Market Street in Inglewood yesterday and saw a beauty supply store and went inside, much to my surprise they had Paul Mitchell products. We decided to take a few minutes to walk around the store and found that they have all of the beauty products (not the Hi-end one's but the usual one's found at beauty supplies and much more). The customer service was stellar, the sales girl knew the entire store and took us to show us where products were that we asked for (she was very friendly and helpful with a smile). I was waiting on a TUDE from the sales girls (I have my issues, I am very PICKY and I knew she was going to get tired of my questions, I know I would have gotten tired of ME, however she remained the same, CALM, professional and friendly). I don't have any complaints and that is saying a lot coming from ME, (OMGosh I really need to work on ME) LOLOL The area however is not for the Faint of Heart! IJS There is metered street parking, they accept all credit cards, their hours are posted, not sure about Apple Pay or Android Pay, they accept the chip cards, did not see parking for bikes, not sure about the Gender friendly restrooms and lots of employees to help you. read more

Store owner?) quickly pointed out some that did not match the color I needed. When I asked if she might have the exact same color she was like "no" and walked off. Actually like the large supply of products including makeup for black women. Do think they should have a black person on staff that's knowledgeable about black hair care & products but maybe they do I've only been in twice . The staff I encountered thus far has been helpful. I really like that they have different sizes and consistency's of Shea butter. Today I tried out the yellow color one in a 3 oz and its a lot of product for 2.99 each (also available in white). I used it at home and as the package states it's creamy and dissolves quickly allowing for easier distribution. I can tell it's fresh too(read a few comments lol) because it wasn't clumpy or super crumbly like the Shea moisture brand I got at Wally World . Some things are cheaper at a Walmart but also limited there as well . Beauty stores tend to have beyond the amount of items a brand line consists of also odds and ends in our hair care that make it easier to deal with . My only cons are as others have stated the over taping of even basic products is a bit much to deal with,I had to bite the tape off . Yea I could've used scissors but that's besides the point lol. I get it's a quantity control safety net against testing /theft but chill a bit . Also the black soap I got once was by the okay brand I don't know if it's the brand or what but it had a gritty texture when wet. It had the look of authentic black (brown) soap but it seemed old . Rotate that stuff because it's obvious once you use it or really feel it . Again it could be that brand may process a bit instead of cutting off slices of a block and that lead to its texture. I prefer amazon for African soap as a freind told me they're more trustworthy than shops as far as quality and value. Price wise I find that to be true and not just with this store . read more

When consumers receive bad customer service and be disrespected we as black women and consumers shouldn't go back. Let's drive a little farther and go patronize a different establishment that respects us and appreciates us spending our hard earned money with their business. My issue is, I tried exchanging an item the day after I purchased it and this beauty supply wouldn't allow me to do that. I was told exchanges cannot be made on that particular item. Basically, my money can be used to make a purchase and that's it. Once they have your money you're stuck with the purchase. Only certain items are exchangeable. This is some bullshit. I didn't want a refund so what's the big deal. I'm no longer patronizing establishments that have "No Refunds" and "Exchange On Certain Items Only" policies. I rather drive to the mall. It may be a little farther and the item may cost a little more but it will be well worth it. We have to quit allowing business owners to set up shop in our communities that only want to make money off us and don't care about the consumers. We have feelings to. It wasn't about the $7.00 dollar item it was the principal of it. I'm so sick of shady business owners. This is my go-to beauty supply store, and it is so for a few reasons: 1) I am not from this area (only moved to Los Angeles for college), so once I found a beauty supply store close by that had what I was looking for, there was no reason for me to keep searching. 2) I have never not found what I had gone there to purchase. I would say this is one of the larger beauty supplies in the area, so naturally they have a rather comprehensive selection. I typically purchase kanekalon hair, and the prices are about the same as what I would pay elsewhere. 3) They have decent store hours. I have never gone to the store to discover they are closed. They are open seven days a week, I believe, which is very conducive to my schedule. There are not many reviews on this location, but I do agree with the other reviews that customer service is certainly not their strong suit. If you are looking to go to a place where they can offer you consultation on what products to buy, this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you already know what you want to buy, and want to be in and out, this store serves that purpose. Overall, I wouldn't say the people are exactly rude, but they certainly aren't "friendly." read more

The hours of the store are convenient (they close at 7pm all week), and everything is reasonably priced. I am sitting in my car so I don't get too busy to write this review. I walked in as I have for years w/my 2 kids (4 & 3 y/o) and my niece (6 y/o). I was planning to buy a scarf for my niece, curly q milkshake and some olive oil. I guess I was looking at the scarfs for too long because the next thing I knew the Mexican girl who worked there was standing by me pretending to be looking at the sunglasses. I picked out the pink scarf that I had been trying to get from behind all those ugly brown ones since that was the one my niece wanted. Once I got it, I went on to get the other 2 items. When I got to the cash register, I asked the same Mexican girl if she thought me or my children were going to steal and if that was the reason she stood by the sunglasses. Then the stuttering started. She then slipped up and told me the Korean chick told her to. The Korean lady heard her and just continued doing what she was doing. I told them both that I had been a customer for years, but I would not be returning. The Korean chick just continued doing what she was doing without even looking my way or apologizing as I walked out the store. And no I didn't purchase a thing. I left it at the counter. Never again will I support this business. Get the hell out of the community if you think your patrons are coming to steal from you. No wonder I was the only one in that store. You can try on 6 wigs for the price of 1 dollar cap, which is great because the other places I have been it's 3 dollars for EACH wig you try. I walked in looking for Jamaican Black Castor oil. I asked the guy standing at the check out counter. He knew exactly what I wanted & where to find it (aisle 9) and pointed in that direction. He barely looked up, but so what, he had what I wanted and the price seemed fair. And it's not something you can find at your regular neighborhood CVS either. At checkout, I needed quarters, (the Market street meters ONLY take quarters, so do not waste your nickels and dimes, you just lose them!), and the nice young lady happily gave me a dollar in quarters for the meter. read more

They put sticky sensors on their products i literally for 10 minutes have been trying to pick off sticky sensor and tape off gel bottle. How annoying. So finally a black cashier signed me up. Missed out on adding to my account. During my last visit they didn't have the hair I only bought from them. So I bought something different. But for home wasn't satisfied. So I returned it, they have me a store credit. Now check this out, they give you 30 days in your own money...ATAB. I was a day late and they refused to honor my money. I am new in town so trying to find all of my regular spots like braiders, beauty supply and nail shops. This was my third beauty supply stop of the day, as the first two were unsuccessful. The metered parking isn't a big deal when, if you know what you want, you'll be in and out in less than 15 minutes. And this isn't a review of parking regulations, so that doesn't affect how I felt about my experience inside the store. I like seeing other black women working in the beauty supply store because they can relate to more hair problems I have. The customers and the employees alike were all really nice, I took a couple laps around the store looking around and nobody really bothered me. Their choices of crochet braiding hair was kind of slim (the only reason I didn't give a five star), but they actually ended up having the exact look I was looking for. If I wanted to branch out and try something else however I might have an issue. They had a larger than normal amount of makeup which I was grateful for even though that's not what I came for. Hello I went to this place of business as a new customer to purchase some clip in hair. I never wore fake hair so I needed help in selecting a color. A young man named Pedro helped me and told the color he gave me was perfect for my hair. I didn't think to double check since he looked at my natural hair and put the fake hair against mines so I thought it was good. He told me to have a good day and never told me the exchange/return policy nor was there a sign by the hair. Three days later after I showed my hair dresser she told me that it was a different color from my natural hair so I can't use it and to go return it. So I went back to the business and I spoke to the manager and she just right off the back used her yelling voice and was like no no you can't return you can't exchange you didn't read the sign. I explain to her that at the time I was here I didn't see a sign nor did her employee indicated that it was no return or exchange. She then started saying YOU people always do this and that's why no return or exchange. I felt very offended especially me being a new customer to that business. I asked where the sign was and I watched her as she moved the sign from a different area to where the hair was I bought. I also took a picture of the sign and it has no exchange is small writing but it don't say anything about returning. She was just very rude she needs to understand not all customers are trying to do something bad. That was my first and last time at this store. read more
