I was overly excited that there are Baskin Robbins in London. It was one of those rare weeks that it was actually hot in London and of course every conversation had that week revolved around the weather. I dragged my partner to come along with me and we took a 25 minute journey to come taste what I said was some of the best ice cream you can get.
Upon arriving I was confused at how small the place was. It's more like an ice cream stand where you walk up, take place your order and then you have to leave. There were a few tables outside though which was handy.
The ice cream: simply put, it's not the Baskin Robbins that one is used to if you grew up eating it in America. Not sure if it's because of food regulations but the ice cream seemed to have been missing any sweetness (and I don't like anything overly sweet). I ordered two scoops because it was such an occasion finding out BR was in London. One scoop of cookies and cream which is my go to and one of pralines and cream. I kept waiting for that smile to come on my face when I took that first bite but it wasn't happening. It was more of a look of confusion.
The service was fine, the people were friendly.
Sad to say, I won't be rushing back here. Maybe it was a bad batch, maybe it's just a completely different formula but the taste was completely different than the other locations. read more
