Great selection, friendly service and clean store with ample parking. The issues I have had during both visits were related to lack of timely assistance from staff. The last two visits I've made to the store I needed assistance from the firearms department. Both times service was extremely slow. Both visits the store did not have enough staff and as a result wait times for assistance were well over an hour. This past Friday I waited over an hour, there was only 2 customers ahead of me and unfortunately there was only one employee working the counter. I did see three other employees at the far end of the counter chatting amongst themselves and not providing assistance to customers. Another employee finally came out to assist and helped someone who had just arrived. In the future I will not be making any purchases at this store department due to these issues. Always a fun time at Cabela's especially if you have kids. The animals and aquarium are always a huge hit. The favorites are always the elephant and turtles. We took my five niece with us today while out shopping for a few items. Unfortunately we didn't find what we were looking for today, but did leave with some tasty bags of candy as always lol. Service Is usually pretty good, but there are also times where multiple employees may pass you and not even acknowledge you. We visited this location, picked up our needed supplies we wanted.. We wandered over to the gun counter, which was extremely busy. All the sales people were busy, with the exception of a gentleman who was busy chatting with a customer. Unfortunately the conversation consisted of personal and non- business . The sales person completely ignored us, while he was discussing his disabilities and advising the customer where to go his advice. Completed unrelated to guns, or any business topic . While waiting 20 minutes for this sales person who was less than 30 feet from us, ignoring us. We decided to leave. Too bad, Cabela's-Bass Pro Shop. You just forfeited a $700 sale , due to an inefficient , uncaring sales person who didn't feel it was his job to wait on customer. But rather chat with his bud... Btw, we went to check out our ammo... when we waited at the counter to check out while 4 sales people ignored us as if we were invisible!!!! What is going on!!!? Finally we had to speak out and ask if we could be checked out. When we got a 'what do you want?' Good grief. Walked in today and had a pretty bad experience from the moment we entered. Felt racially discriminated as we were walking around the firearm department. Kept getting bad looks and noticed how a specific group of people were only being greeted and helped but others weren't and you can guess what the other group looked like. read more

I placed an order online for a firearm. There were no special store policy explained. I went to pick up my purchase when it was available at the nearest store in Glendale, AZ, which is 1 hour away. The fellow who helped me went straight to the background check application and told me it should be processed within 10-12 minutes. After waiting for 45 minutes and finally asking for the status, I was told it was DELAYED and to go home without the firearm. I was told to keep calling for the status. I called over 10 times and no one ever picked up. Today, I was able to talk to the phone desk lady who told me I was next after 23 minutes of holding. Then the call was cut. When I called again and asked for the store manager, I was told he was out on sick leave!!! How convenient for ZERO accountability! After 13 minutes more of holding, the firearm manager told me they do not honor the Brady 3 days release of the firearm. He told me I had to wait up to 30 days and if still DELAYED, I would have to come to the store and request a refund!!! He said I should have been explained the store policy BEFORE I moved forward with the application, at which point I could have requested a full refund. Of course, I was never told anything until it was too late. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had trying to purchase a firearm. I will stick to Mom&Pop stores in the future. A few minutes into us walking to the store we asked a female employee to direct us to where we might find backpacks. She was connected to a headset and looked like she was talking to someone on the headset. We waited for a bit to ensure we are not interrupting her conversation. She may want to watch her tone of voice when speaking to customers. Instead of saying, "go ahead and speak..." she might want to say, "how may I help you?" Poor customer service!!! read more

This is a very mixed review, one which includes the Sunglass Hut concession, and the gun counter. Let's review the good first: Brandon at the sunglass concession could not have been kinder, more easy going, helpful and professional. My bride was looking to purchase some glasses, and Brandon allowed her to try on as many pairs as she liked, with absolutely no concern as to him having to clean them after. He offered model suggestions and even matched pricing. He's a real asset to both Sunglass Hut and Glendale Cabela's. The gun counter individual, on the other hand, was as nervous, and unwelcoming, as a pet going to the vet. When asking about calibers and gun weights on a semi auto, he hands me a rifle WITHOUT SAFETY CHECKING the breech! I had to tell him to check it before handing it to me! Now who does that??? Then, when ensuring MY surroundings were clear and shouldering the rifle, this guy literally flipped!!! He never told me where HE wanted it pointed. Most gun shops are very easy going and direct you IN ADVANCE- not so this Cabela's. Actually, come to think of it, other Cabela's I've shopped at do employ individuals who are more professional and seem to enjoy their jobs more. Maybe the attitude starts at the top? I think that, should you be in the market for something specific, walk directly up to the counter, ask for (or know in advance that they have it) and purchase it. Attempted to purchase a gun from them.... 1.Long lines for NICS check. 2.asked the kady for the military discount, she forgot. Twice! 3. Asked her to call my NICS check via phone instead of computer. Refused to do so, my gun purchased was delayed. Explained to her that due to my Birthplace and Top Secret clearance I always get a "Further Review" not a delay. She refused to follow up with FBI via phone call. So i was supposed to just wait five days. Heck no! I went to a local gun shop, they called the NICS check via phone. Living in the east valley doesn't make this place extremely high on my list but since I recently was gifted a gift card to Cabela's I figured I should drive there and check it out. I heard many good things about this place so I was pleased to visit. Typical outdoor shop and there wasn't anything there that can't be found at other places; they just have a lot of it. I was more intrigued with the interior structure and HVAC ductwork than I was with any of the items on the shelves. Lots of taxidermy throughout the store. Staff is friendly. read more

I understand that other customers were present and inquiring about their purchases but managers could see that other customers were waiting for a while and should have had more employees provide assistance to reduce the wait times. Cabela's is awesome! For starters, no, I'm not a hunter or fisher, but I do love stores like this for a variety of reasons. First and formost, you don't have to be a hunter or fisher to shop here. Its really an outdoorsmans (or womans) paradise. They sell a lot of everything, from camo to camping gear. They have two floors, and most of everything is going to be on the first floor. They sell mens and womans clothing, camping supplies, guns, knives, household items, archery stuff, boating supplies and tons more. I find that they have a lot of great stuff for just about anyone. I was really impressed with thier womans clothing selection, and the prices on some of thier items were a heck of a lot cheaper then Bass Pro Shop by far. (bass pro shops clothes are wwwaaaayyy over priced!) Im talking general clothing here, not specialty clothing such as camo, fishing or hunting gear. The place here also has a really great little cafe upstairs, and staff are located everywhere, and seem to be friendly and helpful. They even have a bargin room with discounted supplies and some clothing, but I found it to be a bit picked over, so I didnt purchase anything. Cabelas also has an amazing display of live fish, and wildlife that is a sight to be seen. Lots of game catches over the years that are on display, that you can observe and really enjoy! This is so much more than a store, it's an experience! I had some errands to run and the munchkin was SO over it, UNTIL she saw we were heading to Cabela's :) Turns out she loves the place! I've been a few times, but I had never had the full tour as provided by my know-it-all-8-year-old-superstar guide ;) Here's the lay of the land; Aquarium- When you walk in, to the right, in the fishing area there is a small aquarium with different kinds of fish. If you get lucky you will see an employee all dressed in their scuba gear cleaning the tanks.... believe it or not, it's very entertaining to watch, lol. My niece and I also really enjoyed looking for sea turtles. Mountain Animals are along the entire back, between the stairs. They might be stuffed, they might be fake, who knows! All I know is that it's a great pic opportunity :D Museum- back of the store in the far left corner (1st floor) there is a small deer museum that has different kinds of deer and other critters (bear, porcupine, etc). It's informative and interesting. Big Animal Exhibit- front left corner, just past the cash registers. There is a little open room that has an elephant, a gazelle and some others. Very cool! There's a restaurant and game upstairs in the back. Seriously, great place to spend a few hours! :) read more

I was looking for a canvas "Cowboy bag", which is a canvas cover that you sleep in with your sleeping bag so it keeps the moisture off you and this was the only store in Phoenix that had it. So, I made the hour long drive from Scottsdale to this place to pick it up. It's just like Bass Pro Shops, huge and full of outdoor equipment. When I arrived, I didn't want to mess around with trying to find this thing, so I asked the person at the front to help. He pointed me to the camping area and described where it was located. I went to the spot he told me to go and voila, it was exactly where he said it would be. Who knew these Cowboy bags were that common? Either that, or he memorized the entire store....LOL The bag set me back $125, but it's been worth ever penny...when I go camping, I wake up warm and dry. Thanks Cabela's! I haven't experienced a less knowledgeable staff. 3. The big issue is the gun library dishonesty. So many lies to unsuspecting customers. Just sit back and listen to the BS fly. I wanted some amusement so I offered a gun in for trade. I was told they're $459 new. They have a lesser model of my brand on their wall used @ over $1100. I was told the rifle I was interested in was new. Not possible, it was built from a used military parts kit. Per ATF, that gun can't legally be advertised as new. The manufacturer(Century) confirmed this as well. The reason I added an extra star is because my kids like to go look at the fish in the huge tanks. That is cool. read more

Cabela's is one of my all time favourite stores in Arizona!!! There's always something to do here. Whether looking at the fishes, taking pictures with the fake dead animals all over the place, or holding up a gun and pretending to be a continental soldier, you won't be bored here. Things are neat, clean, and organised! They have a great selection of firearms, and the gallery has even more cool ones. Plan on waiting a long time if you want to talk to someone at the gun department.... they always busy. Go upstairs and try some of their stuff! If you into that stuff. Crappy customer service. Go somewhere else. We ordered a gun online and got notified it was in, told to come and get it. So, knowing that many stores have restrictions because of Covid-19, I checked their website before driving an hour to the store to pick it up. The website Said they're hours changed, they close at 6:00 now. Nothing else mentioned. Business as usual. Fine, we load our babies in the car and head out, arriving at 4:35pm. The rude woman at the sign in table tells us to come back tomorrow, they're full for the day. What?! There are people waiting to go in, arriving after us and told about a 5 minute wait to get in. After getting upset and questioning them, they say the gun counter can only take 5 customers at a time and they're full for the day (closes in 1.5 hours). Come back and try again tomorrow. It's an hour from our house!!, and we're supposed to be "staying home" in this quarantine order. Just glibly say "come back tomorrow ". Awful communication! Couldn't they have some actually useful information on their website? Or include these important restrictions in an email to let us know? Just ridiculous waste of time and a completely unnecessary and slightly dangerous trip out to this store. If Guns weren't so hard to to come by these days I would cancel my order. I thought I had written a review for this spot already? Guess not! I took my son Bill here a few months back just to kill some time and walk around. This place is gigantic! It's almost too overwhelming. So much stuff...everywhere! Today, me and my brother in law came down this way to buy some ammo and some targets. We are headed out to the desert tomorrow morning to shoot our guns for the first time. We headed over to the ammo section and were immediately bombarded with bullet overload! There were SO many options. I picked up some .38 ammo, and a few boxes of 12 gauge shells. Prices were fair, I guess? Not sure how much ammo should really cost. It's kind of expensive no matter how you look at it though. Reminds me of Chris Rocks joke. "I think all bullets should cost $5000.00. Cause if a bullet costs $5000.00, there would be no more innocent bystanders." Anyways....... My brother in law was looking to pick up a magazine for his buddies AR-15. This nice gentleman pointed us in the right direction and answered a couple of questions for us. We loaded up our cart, and went to check out. Everyone we encountered was friendly and nice. I came in today and pulled my number. Wanted to handle a few rifles and had my mind set on purchasing one specifically. There were 11 numbers ahead of me so I went through the store oogling this and that for an hour and a half... killing time. They made it through three people in 1.5 hours. At this rate it would have taken me all day to just hold a rifle. What the hell? Get more staff. This is ridiculous! I can walk into any local gun shop and get helped ASAP. This place is has almost everything you need for an outdoor adventure under 1 roof. Normally not my kind of store, but it is my hubby's. I can NOT and do NOT hunter, fish, or camp. My outside activities are more like sitting on the beach. =) Anyway the hubby was looking for boots, so I tagged along. The shoe department is upstairs. Cabela's store defies any category. If you're at all familiar with the name, you have probably seen a catalog of theirs lying around somewhere on your grandfather's end table. Even if you aren't a fan of the outdoors, you're bound to find something of interest (or disinterest) here at Cabela's. Inside this massive building you will find anything and everything you need for the outdoors or for the outdoors enthusiast on your shopping list. Entire sections are devoted to guns, fishing, archery, camping and more. Cabela's is the only store I've been in that has an aquarium full of fish you'd likely encounter in your outdoors excursions. Feats of taxidermy are on display. Deer, elk, badgers, bobcats, squirrels, animatronic hunters and more. Today, I can say I've seen a stuffed and mounted elephant. There is an entire section dedicated to camouflage. I had trouble finding it at first though. The second floor has household items for your cabin or vacation home, a candy shop and a cafeteria boasting some items you're not likely to find on a typical menu. You can dine on boar, ostrich, and venison or, if you'd rather have a good old hamburger, that's also an option. My friend that I went with opted for the venison bratwurst. Thousands of items from video games to antique guns in the Gun Library can be purchased. Unfortunately, the one item I kept encountering in repeated locations was the official Larry the Cable Guy ball cap with his despicable catch-phrase emblazoned upon it. I am not going to quote it here for fear of being beaten silly if I am ever spotted out in the real world. Seriously. I hate that guy. Want to teach your loved ones to use weapons? An indoor shooting range is just the answer you've been looking for. You can also purchase live bait or book one of the conference rooms for your next important meeting. If a boat is on your shopping list, you can easily find one here. So pack up the family, grab your favorite rifle and fill up the cooler with Schlitz so you can head down to Cabela's. Ray at the gun counter has the worst attitude I have received in customer service. Ken, the manager tried to apologize for his employees terrible behavior. Ken was very kind and helpful with our situation and never made us feel uncomfortable. As for Ray, he was very condescending and rude and clearly has no respect for women or people in general. He was combative and repeatedly disrespectful in many ways. Then when you confront him about it he'll look at you as if you're the problem, and continue to be combative. Everyone other person at the gun counter has been pleasant to work with. But Ray needs some serious coaching from his manager. read more

I love this store! I didn't even get to explore the whole place but I came in here to look at assault rifles and possibly pick up a canoe. The first guy that helped us with the rifles was super knowledgeable and had an opinion about every gun he took down from the rack. After looking at a couple AR15s, my friend told me about the special gun room where I got to hold guns I had only fired virtually in video games... the Aug, P90, and F2000. This store is 2 stories of all things outdoors and then there is even a giant aquarium with all kinds of trout and other swimmers. I wish there were one here in Cali, but obviously, they're smart not to put one in a state with retarded gun laws, so it makes the visits to Cabela's that much more special and amazing. read more

My 1st ever visit to Cabela's and I spent over and hour there walking around like a kid in an Toy Store, because well, that's exactly what it is! And Adult Toy Store(no guns aren't toys but you get the reference) They have an awesome inventory of ammo and great pricing. I was constantly asked as I walked around in awe if I needed help with anything. I don't know enough about Gun Prices to really place judgment on that. I went up stairs and was blown away by their Deli and Café! After debating between some different Game Burgers, I actually ended up going with a Smoked Elk sandwich. I will say Top10 Meat Experience of my life, possibly more like Top5. It was just amazing!!! Even if you just go here for a meal, its well worth the trip if you've never been to one or actually want to buy just about anything outdoor related you can think of. You can even sample and flavor you want prior to purchasing Cabela's offers the largest selection of outdoor sports items that I've ever seen under one roof. Worst customer service, I'm not sure how they stay in business. I called ahead of time knowing it would take over an hour to get there. I was told they had plenty of items to select from (I called to make sure they had a certain item). Once arrived, it took over an hour to be waited on, then was told that they only had two of the items and it was items that I couldn't even use. Kari, the manager was quite nice and understanding, however, that doesn't negate the fact that an employee told me there were plenty to choose from. Unprofessional and uncaring in my option. As a firearm collector, I've bought guns from Cabela's stores across the nation. I've bought from Glendale before without problem. But several weeks ago I gave Glendale gun library my credit card info to ship a gun for $25 to my local store so that I could view a gun and buy it if I liked it. This practice has been in place for at least 15 years at Cabela's. Instead, without notifying me, Glendale charged my credit card for the entire cost of the firearm - that I'd never even seen. No call to me, no receipt, no notice to my local store. I had to log in to my credit card web site and show my credit card activity to the local store to prove that I'd already paid for the gun once. Credit card fraud is not something one should worry about with a Cabela's store. Shame. read more

I'm so glad to have a cabelas close by! And this one is massive! All kinds of redneck toys and fun things for the kids as well. I got all my needs taken care of and the staff was super friendly. It's nice to be able to shop on the store rather than on line for a change! On the way out someone told me there was a deli that serves game meat foods but I didn't get a chance to try it.
