What a poorly run store, especially at the Gun Counter. See Jason L.'s review of 24 Feb mine was a mirror image. Pulled a number (they called like one number every 30 minutes as the staff would rather shoot the crap with each other, customers, etc. do anything other than actually provide any semblance of customer service) took over an hour to be called. Older gentleman G _ _ _ assisted, went to enter in the data - had computer problems, told me to come back in an hour because the computer was "running slow". While he was gruffing at the computer a customer walked up and asked if they had 9mm ammo - he grumped that the store had been out sent Saturday - then he openly started complaining to me about the customers in the store. The gentleman then walked back by about 5 minutes later and waved a bunch of 9 MM ammo that had been sitting on the shelf - G _ _ _ _ then huffed that it was junk ammo -" that his store was selling." I came back in an hour as he suggested and then G_ _ _ _ had the gall to tell me to pull another number and go to the bottom of the que. Stood there for about 45 minutes and observed over 7 employees behind the counter constantly laughing, cutting jokes, and not helping anyone - during this entire time 45-minute period they serviced 1 customer. Went to find the store manager, lady at customer service said all the leadership was in a meeting. Offered to call the gun counter manager and I was floored when one of the yucking up employees showed, C_ _ _ _ _ _. She immediately recognized me as I had been there almost three hours, immediately apologized and said the G _ _ _ _ should have known better. Poor staff, crappy attitude toward customers, and no leadership. Take your money elsewhere. read more

I love that over each holiday Bass provides such a fantastic free of charge service to the community. Not only do they have the largest assortment of hunting, boating and fishing equipment they host Santa and the Easter Bunny with various activities and photos. We visited this business to get pictures taken with Santa. Special days and times are throughout the month for a visit with Santa as well as making different crafts. For the month of December Bass had set up a coloring area, had a monster truck to play with, a working train to watch, and a real full size working carousel. I think seeing the carousel with the wild animals over the tradional horses was my favorite. The photos with Santa are a bonus. You receive one complimentary picture as well as several packages to choose from for an additional price. read more

Wish we had one in Hawaii! In town visiting friends and I begged them to take me here! Soooo amazing! Loved everything! Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about products and animals. They have the huge fish tank and a little river for catfish! The feed the fish at 12 noon and it's cool to see all different fish in there. There is a restaurant, seafood and burgers also a fudge shop. Very yummy fudge! On the first floor you will find boats,platoons,atvs,men's clothing, restaurant and fudge shop. On the second floor you will find women and children's clothing as well as outdoor gear for camping, hiking, boating, etc. there are even hunting games you can play! Can't wait till Hawaii gets one! read more

All three of us came here to purchase new fishing rods and new supplies. This was the clear choice, they have everything here from clothes, to boats, to different gear we needed up getting three different rods, the reels, a bunch of different hooks and the line. Two of our reels we had a gentleman put the line on only to find out that one had a little snag, so we had to redo a little bit of it. No big deal because one of us is more experienced than the rest of us. No one ever approached us to see if we needed help in picking out our rods or gear. So not the best customer service but will return if we need anything because this place has a huge selection. They also sell you fishing licenses. If you are out of state they cost a lot more, so if you are a military person with a different state ID make sure you bring your military for the resident price. It will save you around twenty dollars. read more

Just got home form a 40 mile round trip to Hampton, Va to get a mens sweatshirt, that they said was in their store. No one had ever seen it, even though it is listed. So no more Bass Pro Shop for me. read more

Very friendly staff ...the store is absolutely humongous. I was looking for these cute little light up rain boots . I ended up looking at archery equipment. Who knew that a bow and arrow costed 1k. I mean it's some serious artillery in there. There were guns , hiking gear, baby men's women and kids apparel. My fav section was the water equipment . The boats were awesome. Something else to put in my dream book. One caught my eye with the glitter paint and the faux spilled glass of wine , so cute .l even signed up for a trip all you have to do is listen to a timeshare presentation . Check this place out for all of your hunting fishing sporting boating and outdoorsy needs! read more

today I went to the Bass Pro store in Hampton, Virginia. when I went to pay my credit card bill I couldn't find my card so the lady at the desk looked up my information and took my payment and gave me a receipt. I then proceeded to the checkout counter to buy a pair of shoes. I gave the be with me soon. The manager, Jason, came about 15 minutes later. He said the store would not give me the rewards even with my bill receipt, my iD and address and phone number. If I wanted the rewards I had to go back to where I paid my bill and get a temporary card then go back to the cashier to get rewards. I waited in the bill line for over 1/2 hour and got the temporary card. I went back to the cashier hanfed her the temporary card and cash for the shoes at which time she told me that with the temporary card all I could do was pay by credit but I couldn't rec any rewards. I decided not to buy the shoes. It's crazy that if you get a card through this company if you don't use the credit car. The manager at minimum was lazy for not taking care of me himself, my opinion is that he should be demoted and retrained. The rewards program should be updated to be at least as good as every other rewards program in the country. I stood in that store for over an hour, as a handicapped person only to get the run around from both the manager and cashier. I am seriously thinking of not buying anything from them in the future. Great place to just come and look around cuz you might find something you never knew you needed until you saw it. Definitely a great place to spend money. I typically don't waste my time creating a review for the internet until I've experienced repeated services or lack there of. I have visited numerous BPS around the country and in regard to Customer Service this is by far the poorest. Poor treatment of not only myself but many others at the CS desk, employee lack of knowledge in the different departments, and a general "I don't care" attitude throughout the store leads me to choose a different location (20 miles further) for my biz. This location pales when compared to the Ashland, VA location. read more

Santa is here so as festivities. We came here specifically for Santa's Wonderland and to take photo with Santa (free). Great amount of activities and kids loved everything. Photo ops very organized - you get a pass for a time slot and then have to stand in line (which was about 20 minutes for us). We found some things to purchase in store as well. Customer service is really bad. Went to look for a handgun for my wife. Wait 20min for an employee told us to register online for help. Then he said it will be 30 min before someone could help us you are 4th in lin 6 employee behind the counter on 4 Customer around. Then the employee left and help a new customer that just walked up. After 20min of waiting and watching employees help other customer instead of people on this online list we left. Hour and half later we get a call saying it's our turn. Going to Bass Pro is like going to Disneyland. Going to Bass Pro reminds me that I cannot afford to have a plexi-glass bass pond with a waterfall in my living room. Going to Bass Pro reminds me that I must win the power ball so I can get a pink bow with matching arrows. Going to Bass Pro reminds me that I want to learn how to shoot and carry a sexy little ruger. Total fan of the store, not so much the crowds. The great part is they are dog friendly. Sir Flaps Alot will be accompanying me on the next trip to Bass Pro. This place is so cool. If you are a fan of the outdoors, a redneck, or a fishing freak/hunter/killer of animals for sport then you'll love this place. It has a lot to offer everyone. Ammo is reasonably priced, the decor is delightfully backwoods and there is even a waterfall and fish tank at the back of the building with the local catches on display. I also love how this Bass Pro allows car meet-ups in their parking lot on Saturday nights during the Spring-through-fall seasons. It is a nice way to have the locals collect and display their rides in a designated spot rather than loitering in Home Depot parking lots. Unfortunately the crowd has taken an odd shift. Before the turnout was American Muscle cars and collector cars with a slightly older crowd. They stopped this for a while, then started it up again. The collectors have stopped coming almost altogether and are now replaced by ricers and young people looking for a place to chill. While it is nice to see that they have a place to gather and show off their rides it has also become a spectacle of dumb young Honda jerks and bros who peel out of the parking lot at high speed, leave trash all over the parking lot, and generally behave like children. When this place first opened, you would think it was the coolest store this area had ever seen. I remember my whole family going on something of a day trip to see this place. Don't get me wrong though, this place is pretty cool. They have a ton of things for your sporting needs (especially water sports) and they even have boats available to view. They do seem to focus more on outdoor sporting and water sports such as fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. This is a really fun place to go kill a couple of hours, the store is definitely big enough to look around for a long time. read more

I was planning to buy a gun today, but I subscribe to the belief that if employees aren't willing to even say a word like "Can I help you find something?"then I don't want to give that establishment my business. In this case there were 3 guys standing around behind the counter cracking jokes, and none of them bothered to help me or the other two gentlemen next to me. Maybe they weren't allowed to handle guns, nonetheless it was a bad look for the store. Hands down the most poorly staffed (as far as quality of staff) Bass Pro I have ever stepped foot in. First review for this place was 6 years ago. I've since returned. It's kept updated, the store is clean, well taken care of and stocked. Ammo / guns aside, if you're no looking for something made by Bass Pro, or a Bass Pro preferred affiliate, you're going to be out of luck. I am a fan of this place, mainly because I like to walk around and look at stuff. I dont know if anything is priced fairly but the clothes seem very expensive. I also like dragging my kids through here so they can see the fish and the stuffed animals. Good for a quick stop. If not buying anything, at least hang out with the fish. read more

We LOVE this place! There is a lot of just about everything you could want for outdoor fun. Take a look at the thousands of gallons fish tank that has huge local fish that have been caught and donated to the place. Then, take the kids over to the indoor shooting range. The guns shoot light and make the targets do silly stuff. They will love it. read more

Bass Pro Shops - Super huge catfish! - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

This is my second year winterizing my boat at Bass Pro Shop. Last year I did it at the Ashland, VA store and this year at the Hampton, VA store. At Ashland the total labour cost for the service was $249 for 2.5 hours, at Hampton it cost $385 for 3.5 hours. That is a $136 difference, and I received far less service at the Hampton BPS. Last year at Ashland they added antifreeze the live well, added antifreeze to the fresh water system and wrapped the prop to prevent water from coming in, Hampton didn't do any of this. When I asked about the antifreeze in the live well they said it wasn't needed. They were nice enough to add antifreeze to the fresh water system for "free" after I asked. I quickly realized that the staff didn't really care about customer service at the Hampton BPS, or there is no continuity in service in the region. While the staff at Hampton BPS was friendly, I left feeling cheated by the whole experience and will not go back to Hampton BPS. read more

Arrived at the Hampton, Virginia store at 11:30 am only to be told that they were only allowing 10 people in the store at a time. I put my name on the list and was told that there were 65 people in front of me. I waited in line for 45 minutes and I was still number 39 on the list. I get the whole social distancing concept but for a store this size to only allow 10 people in at a time is ABSOLUTLY RIDICULOUS!!! Whoever in senior management set these guidelines needs to go back to basic "Customer Service" school. Based on the number of people who left when they were told that they were only allowing 10 people in at a time, this store lost a HUGE chunk of business today (Saturday morning). I left, went down the street to Wilcox Bait and Tackle spent my money. It will be a LONG time (if ever) before I go back to this store. Bass Pro just lost a very dedicated customer!!! read more

What a joke. Today reminded me of why I stopped going there. Looked at a streamlight tlr-3 for $119.99. Looked it up on the phone. Walmart is $77 and found it as cheap as $68. Store wouldn't match Walmart. Straight up told me if I didn't like it then go to Walmart because they had it in stock today and Walmart didn't. What a great way to get repeat customers. Don't go here. They charge the highest prices I've seen on almost everything I looked at and a lot of workers have a poor attitude to go with it. read more

Arrive too early to my familys' house on Thanksgiving and needed somewhere to burn some time since we couldn't check into the hotel until late in the afternoon. We went to this bass pro and walked around. While walking around I ran into a childhood friend who worked there, that's always nice to catch up with someone from the past. Lucky for us on this morning ole Saint Nick was dropping bye to take pictures with the kiddos. We receive a bass pass to get a free picture so why not. We were the second ones in line and my kids told Santa what they wanted and they took a picture, which turned out great, with him. Burned another 30mins walking around and looking at the fish, bear, deer and everything else they had. On they way out I ran into my old manager from my first job ever. She also works there. So much to look at, and the decor is wonderful. It almost feels like Disney experts put this place together for your outdoor needs. Bass pro shop has always been a great place to visit and I have been to several but his is my first review as the customer service of Mike, master angler, was excellent. I don't know a lot about fishing but needed some help. Mike not only showed me what I needed, he took the time to draw diagrams to help me better understand what he was talking about. Asking novice questions I'm sure he was like, "this guy doesn't know anything" but he never made me feel that way. It's people like Mike who make people return customers. Thank you. read more

The worst Coronavirus response of any store. They only allow 50 people in at a time leaving everyone else waiting outside in the weather. Social distancing becomes an issue when trying to maintain a line and stay out of the street. Not to mention it doesn't make any sense. It's not like they're letting people enter in groups of 50, a person exits and another person enters so contamination still exists. Does Bass Pro not know the products they sell? They sell clothing (amongst other things), if a sick person touches the clothing then the clothing is now contaminated for the next person who touches it. Doesn't matter if that next person waited outside or not. Plus this is a large store designed to keep people inside and walking around. There is no time limit for patrons so those waiting outside can be stuck waiting outside for hours. I will not be returning to this or any Bass Pro store if this is how poorly they respond to crisis and how little they care for their customers. No other store (i.e. Walmart, Target, etc.) has done this stupYou failed Bass Pro! read more

This place is located in the Power Plant Park in Hampton. To say it is HUGE is an understatement. The place is absolutely monolithic in size. They have everything you could possibly want for outdoor life. They have a huge section dedicated to fishing. Here you can find outboard motors, boats, lure, fishing rods that run the whole gamut in cost and size. They also have an awesome camping section with tents out on display. There was a six-sided one that we stepped into that was the size of a small house. It was ridiculous. Seriously, you can just walk around in this place and be plenty entertained. Also, the prices seemed to be pretty fair--I checked the cost of the tent online and it was actually cheaper in the store! read more
