I bought a 1911 here and was pleased with the customer service. They're helpful and make the process easy. Kelly provides great customer service and is very friendly. They make beautiful custom made holsters to your specifications. Made by Grady. My experience isn't based on a pawn. This is pretty much my gun store. They have a 4 lane shooting range. The waiting period isn't too long to get on the range, but it can get packed during peak hours (after 5). You can also get your gun smith services done here as well. Very disappointing experience. I approached the counter and was met with an unnecessarily rude and agitated young Black male employee who was working Saturday. When I calmly asked why he was speaking to me that way, rather than having a professional conversation, he simply told me to leave. In a business involving firearms and public interaction, employees should be able to remain composed and handle disagreements professionally. I don't know if this reflects the company's customer-service standards or just this individual, but either way, the experience was unacceptable. read more

Good full service indoor range - helpful, friendly staff, great selection of targets, reasonably priced ammunition and they rent weapons for you to try out! But... they desperately need some sound baffling in the individual ranges. I forgot my ear protectors, and though I purchased foam ear inserts from there, after the first shot, I knew I was in trouble. I've always shot outdoors before, so the level of sound level at an indoor range that does not have ANY sound baffling is beyond anything I've ever experienced. After the 2nd shot, I went to the desk and bought a good pair of sound protectors from them, but the damage to my hearing was done. Three doctor visits and several weeks later, I'm still suffering. Please Superior Guns, install some minimal sound baffling in your ranges. Installing sound foam panels on the walls or just hanging some blankets on the walls would go a long way towards absorbing the reflected sound so your guests won't damage their hearing. I would probably be a frequent customer if you would just do that. read more

I brought in an Authentic American Fender Stratocaster to get a loan. I was originally offered about $200 for the loan. I explained how this guitar easily sells for $1000 on the low end. The manager told me she had to go off the low end of what she saw online (using ebay and Reverb.com). I checked these numbers for myself and didn't see a deluxe Strat lower than $950 (the one listed at this price is in far worse condition than mine.) My serial number is right on the back of the Headstock. The Strat had all original parts, was never altered. The manager tried to use fender's site to verify my instrument. She revoked her original low ball offer because she said all she could see on fenders site was the neck. She did not try to see how the guitar could be verified in other ways. The fender site even has a disclaimer stating that if the serial number doesn't show in their system, this does not signify a lack of authenticity. She clearly didn't read that disclaimer, and if she did, she did not care enough to do her due diligence any further. I can't help but feel like I was either descriminated against, or that this lady truly knows nothing about guitars and shouldn't be allowed to determine the loan price of any instruments. I will never do business here again. By the way, their gun range is trash. read more

I have been going to this store for about 7 years. I absolutely love the place. I have bought reloading, ammo, scopes and weapons. I truely appreciate going there and looking for a good deal. I feel you have to do that. Good people and seem to be fairly knowledgeable the only thing i didnt like but would not rate down - they have a rewards program they started but then didnt use for some time - all said i recommend people to go here. read more

The manager lied to me about the price of a gun. Then wouldn't refund my money when I found out he lied. He charged me more money for a used gun than a new one cost. Can't trust the manager, and I won't buy anything else from this store. read more

We went here to get some practice in and loved it. The range is smaller, but I preferred that. I've been to larger ranges and it was overwhelming. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. Went here yesterday to fire at the 'range'. After standing around for about ten minutes, some angry old guy working the front counter yelled at me 'can I help you?' I replied with 'yes, you can... after you finish with your customers' (maybe 2 or 3 in line). I ended up walking out. Place seems a little agitated and perhaps too busy to be a safe place to relax and shoot. Probably one of those ranges you can find bullet holes in the roof. Not safe. Not for me. read more

I live in Hampton and shoot at The Superior Indoor Range. The people are very friendly and helpful. They know their products. I buy my ammo there and when you check their 'on line' discounted prices you will too so forget Walmart. Recently, I purchased an 'estate sale' 357 Magnum and took it in to Superior to shoot it. The Manager was kind enough to spend 15 minutes thoroughly going over the pistol and indicated it was it was 98% and good to go. He even cleaned it..Free of charge!! This place is absolutely outstanding. Best customer service out of any gun store in the Hampton Roads area. Much rather deal with a store like this that is locally owned than big stores like bass pro. They have a great selection of new and used firearms and even offer a 10/10/10 layaway program. 10% down and 10% for 10 months. Once the gun is paid off you get 7 free range visits to the range they have right there on sight. Not to mention.... for every 500 you spend.... you get a 25 dollar gift card!! Also when you pick up your layaway, if you put another one on layaway THAT DAY, they cover your first payment! The range is great for handguns and small rifles. I would 100% recommend them to anyone. They have the best prices in town on their firearms and ammunition. read more

I don't know if have just been spoiled by Texas sized pawn shops it what but this pace is pretty small. They have an alright selection of guns, but honestly the prices aren't all that great. Nearly all their guns are new so no chance of getting an awesome deal on a used one here. They have a limited inventory of random other stuff: the typical electronics (3 or 4 TVs, a cpl gaming systems) & some jewelry but again, prices are not that great. They had a 46" Samsung TV for $800... I can pay $50-$100 more and get it brand new. They do have an indoor shooting range but it's quite small and pretty expensive. I think only 4 or 5 lanes, and it's $15 a person even if you're shooting on the same lane. I know a lot of other ranges will only charge an extra $5 for wives to shoot and I was disappointed they don't do that here. Hour max on the lane. You can rent guns there too for a pretty decent price: believe it was only $7 for a handgun but catch is you have to buy the ammo there. They close at 6pm so good luck trying to go shoot after work during the week. Saturdays can get super packed, esp with their limited number of lanes. Unfortunately not a lot of other options around. read more

Went in here to see if I can trade my gun for one that they had in stock. Basically had one person running the entire store with a few helpers so i had to wait for the customer ahead of me. The gentleman at the desk tells me to start filling out paperwork even before he gives me a Price on my trade. Because I was on my lunch break and a little short on time, I reluctantly decided to start filling out some of the paperwork just in case we came to a deal. I turn down the ridiculously low price he offered me on my gun and attempted to take my paperwork with me because I didn't want my information to be seen by other people. Now mind you I didn't even want to fill out the paperwork in the first place. He told me I could not take the paperwork and that they had to hang onto it. I asked him why and he says because that's the law. Nothing was entered into a computer, no transactions were even close to being made.. So I couldn't wrap my head around this. I look around on the Internet a bit and I can't find any reference to this being a law. At any rate it left a really bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be back. Anyone out there know if this is a law? read more

I began my handgun training here about a month ago. I found the establishment to be well run and generally interested in firearms training and safety. I had a 1/2 hour personal training session with an instructor who provided me with some of the basics and got me off to a great start. Further, he provided me with a lesson on how to assemble and clean my firearm. Superior Pawn and Gun and the staff exceeded my expectation, as the service and pricing was fair and reasonable.
