Food was delicious, every item we ordered was excellent a little on the greasy side but fresh and tasty. Would order again. Raspberry Lemon drop was amazing. Was very disappointed when I walked in with my cousin who's in the marines and we were told they stopped serving food and did last call right before we walked in... just an fyi, the website says you close at midnight, we walked in at 11:05pm ... I was embarrassed because I was just there the week prior and I was served at 11:36pm without any issues. I kept telling my cousin how much I enjoyed this place so I really wanted to bring him here for a good slice of pizza and a drink but I think the employees were just calling it an early night which I believe is pretty darn rude, especially since my cousin drove from San Diego. The name of this establishment intrigued me so I decided to give it a shot. We arrived and the hostess greeted us promptly and we sat outside on their patio. The establishment didn't have waiters (I'm sure it's because of covid), we had to order at the bar, and the food was brought to the table. We ordered their mini corn dog for appetizers, chicken and waffles, and my friend had a Jameson mule. Pros: Ambiance was nice. Corn dogs were bomb! Jameson mule was decent but ordered a double and it cost $21 (little expensive for a double and it taste like a regular mule). The bartender and bus gentlemen were nice and checked on us through out our dining experience. Cons: Chicken was bland and over cooked. Waffles were dry, bland, and we asked for butter but didn't receive it. They had a spicy maple syrup that was not good. Luckily, they had regular syrup but I couldn't take more than 3 bites into the waffle. Batter just didn't do it or me. Overall, it was ok. I would return for their appetizers. read more

So so happy to have finally tried this place out!!!!! I love the whole concept and everything about it is so perfect. Menu is simple but hits all the right spots, with everything from waffles fries, wings, burgers, cocktails, and drinks!!!! But it's the flavors of all of their items that make it so freaking good! Such a bad experience. First the pros- We got seated promptly without a reservation on a Saturday night when games and ufc fights were on . That was great. Other places were charging admission to watch the fight, they were not charging here. Another plus .. Now the cons- - inside the restaurant the UFC fight was only on one tv. We still were able to watch by rearranging the chairs. The service was very very slow. However - I think that there was only one waitress for the entire inside restaurant. Prob like 30 hour to get one drink.... And my drink was wrong at that. I ordered a Tito's vodka and club soda. My friend ordered a vodka and tonic. I do not drink tonic water. It has 32 grams of sugar and i do not do sugar . So Of course- i was given vodka tonic. The person who brought the drinks- said "2 Vodka tonics" I said- sorry it's one vodka tonic and one vodka soda . He said "they're the same we don't have tonic" and placed the drinks down and quickly walked away. What he said didn't make sense bc they both were vodka tonics . Server didn't make her rounds back for over ten minutes when i finally flagged her down and told her that my drink had tonic water and I asked for club soda . She took my drink. Brought it back in a bigger cup. Still with tonic water ... and had ADDED club soda . Whatever. It was already such a hassle, i just drank it. When she brought my drink, I ordered "poke nachos". -blue fin tuna on wonton chips with ginger sauce ,jalapeño ,aioli, sriracha, cilantro. It's sounded amazing. What i got was - "nachos" with questionable fish. I hate complaining. And I hate leaving bad reviews. But sometime it is necessary. These "nachos" were loaded in some kind of seemingly canned "queso", with grated cheese melted over. The tortilla chips were stale and tasted like they were from the night before and warmed up in the microwave. The "fresh" tuna fish was dark and unappealing, like if it had gotten a little cooked with the heat from the cheese. It was not good I asked the server if this meal always looked like this and she said "i don't know- what did you get?" I told her i got The blue fin nachos . I read her the description and said- I'm sorry, this is not what i was expecting . No where does it say that this comes with queso and cheese. She says "they're nachos- nachos have cheese, everyone knows that " (Ok she got me- lol. However- the "nachos" were not supposed to be tortilla chips but Wontons- so the idea of traditional nachos was out the window . ) I asked her if these were wontons or if they were tortilla chips. She said tortilla chips. So i told her- this was not what i wanted and to please take it back. I gave the fish nachos a try. They were bad and i started to feel sick. Somehow - i immediately developed an allergic reaction . I had to leave and take 2 Benadryl. I eat blue fin tuna all the time. I eat poke and sushi all the time. No idea what was truly in those questionable fish nachos . But i was sick. I even threw up. However - I never ever drink tonic water and it's possible that i an allergic to quinine as some people are. Whether it was the tonic water that they were pretended was not in my drink, or the "wanton nachos". Something there did me really really bad read more

Mom and pop businesses always have my vote! A veteran owned business will have my business, just on principle! My drink was refreshing. There was a lot that went into the preparation of the cocktail. The nachos with Spinach dip I ordered was a very large portion. Happy hour prices resulted in a ~ $17 bill. I was stuffed, and I really enjoyed my cocktail. There is decent seating inside as well as couple of benches outside. Since it is downtown Downey, there is street parking and a public parking structure for your car parking needs. There are TV's all along the wall of the restaurant playing sports. There are several popular beers on tap. Bartender (Jackie) was the only employee during my stay. She was Bartending, Waiting, Greeting, Bussing, etc. Super woman. I liked the atmosphere, the decor, the value of the food, and the general positive vibes. But I think it was made with top shelf Air fried Wings in Lemon Pepper- ehhhh, the chicken was fresh, I somehow couldn't taste the lemon or the pepper but my friend could, he said he could taste both flavors lol served with ranch. Great food, great service. Now we went on a Thursday evening during Happy Hour and it wasn't that busy. We started out with the HH rib tips and they were falling off the bone tasty. Didn't have to struggle with getting the meat off with each bite. It has a good dry rub on it, but the server Tamara gave us 2 drippings of BBQ flavors ( reg and spicy) to go with it. Our mission is to come back on a Wednesday for .75 rib tip and wings night. We ordered the special for the night, which was a Classic burger and Beer for $10. Cant go wrong with that. We had to order a side of fries, which was big enough for us to share. My only downfall is that our fries came out before the burger. They were well cooked and definitely well seasoned. The plus is that they gave you Ranch and Ketchup to dip them in. Let's get to the burger.. By far the best Burger that I have had in LA while dining. It was a classic burger with the normal fixings ( lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and cheese), but the patty was what stole the show. It's a pretty nice sized patty and seasoned very well. What made me know that this was going to be a good burger was the smell of the meat before it hit my mouth. It's hard to describe, but you know when you smell it. It was cooked perfectly. Medium well, still had some pink to it. It was just a damn good burger, that we happened to stumble upon while yelling for Happy Hour establishments. Wanted to make sure we patronize a Veteran Owned Restaurant in honor of Veterans Day and Bastard's is where we ended up. (Totally worth the drive from the SouthBay). We were greeted by the hostess who was actually also our waitress "Amelia H" who was quite friendly and ever so fun! And we were even happier to know she too is a Veteran. She told us how the place was quiet compared to yesterday which goes all out on the Marine Corp Birthday! She was informative and made some great drink and food suggestions! We started with the "mini" corn dogs which were anything but "mini"! They were packed with flavor both the cornbread batter and all beef hotdog inside! Served hot and slightly crispy the way a good corn dog should! One friend opted for the Veteran's Day Special which was a deliciously smoked bbq plate (she opted for chicken over the ribs) coleslaw and baked bbq beans, and since she generously let me try them, all was delicious! The chicken grilled but perfectly moist, the beans had a great smoked taste with bacon a d tangy bbq flavor! I opted on the signature Bastard's Burger which was piled high Wagyu beef cooked perfectly to pink medium for full flavor profile. Fresh cheddar, bbq sauce, bacon and crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Seriously this was what Samuel L. Jackson would call a "tasty burger"!!!! Will be back just for the burger!!!! And hopefully some more amazing Veteran service! Added bonus they offer "Round Up" your bill to Serve the Brave which our server told us is an awesome local non-profit that helps support counseling and comrade with fishing trips for Vererans. I came at 130pm On a sunday. It wasn't Pat at all so I decided to sit in the back seating area with the TVs. The burger was actually pretty good. It was juicy and flavorful. I asked for medium well but I got medium because there was still a lot of pink in the middle. Brunch was served until 2 PM so I made sure not to order until after that in order to get the burger. I got the burger and the cheese tots. I was hoping it was nacho cheese but it wasn't so I didn't finish them. Now the real reason I'm only giving them a 2.5/3 is because the service here is horrendous. They took a minute to even acknowledge me when I walked in and told him I wanted to sit in the shade. Once they sat me at my table I never saw the servers again. I'm not being dramatic either. If it wasn't to bring out food they never came back out. I had to go and get them to get silverware as well as water and a box. Last thing that I really did not care for is that you have to get up and order yourself they never come to check on you. Also when I got up to go and ask for water I saw the server two and three servers sitting on the table on their phone so like I said just frustrating because they don't tend to you as a customer. I met some friends at this place for drinks. They had called ahead because we had a group of nine and they let us know that they will be able to seat us. When we got there they told us to walk right in and we ended up sitting outside on their patio which is nice! However, they told us that that table was reserved for another group of nine. I politely let them know that I had made a reservation ahead of time and everything was fine they ended up setting up another table top for another party. I really like the location of this place. Parking is extremely easy there's a parking structure right across the street. We didn't have to pay for any parking, but I don't know if it's free like that all the time. We ended up ordering some drinks I don't know if it was because of Covid, but we didn't have a server we had to order inside and then take our drinks out. We didn't order any food or anything, but they did have some things on the menu that could have appeared to be tasty. But it is a pretty simple menu! We ended up leaving and going across the street to the Mexican restaurant, because we really wanted food and this place had mainly appetizer foods and at the time we really didn't want to eat that. I wish I could tell you how the food was but I can't. We came on a Wednesday, was able to be seated right away and that was all. We requested to sit on the patio which we were told was okay. They gave us our menu and that was all.. We waited outside for 20 mins, no water, no service no check up or anything.
