We took a chance on this - was thinking it might be a long wait as it was very busy but I think we were served within 20 minutes and their system seemed to work well. We had a Chicken/Brie sandwich and a Pulled Pork. Both extremely tasty. Good Berry Ice Tea and delicious coffee. Sandwich portion sizes were large and in charge and the biscquits very yummy. You can't really eat as a sandwich per se but who cares? It was delicious. Also shout out to the gentlemen who went around making sure the order numbers were heard. Busy Sunday brunch. Couple of friends of mine decided to head to the coast for the day. We took the first ferry over. This place was opened early and was already busy when when arrived. Menus on the wall, fresh baked goods for showcase, busy batista all signs of a good breakfast place. I ordered a half eggs benny with smoked salmon and kale. It took some time to come but we didn't care, I ended grabbing a sunshine cake (similar to a carrot cake) amazing!!!! Moist and icing was perfect topped with pumpkin seeds. Back to the eggs benny. I love how they give half order options. It was very filling. Also came with potatoes, with nice kick to it. The base was a thick biscuit with a creamy sauce. Only complain was I asked for the eggs soft poached by the time it came it was about medium almost hard, but still yummy. Great look to the cafe, lots of outdoor seating from the front also some at the back. Overall it was a yummy breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if Im back in Sechlet. read more

You gotta try the Smoked Salmon spinach & tomato eggs benny. OMG they were so much better than I expected!! Many places offer up eggs benny that are so mediocre, and I didn't want to get my hopes up. Fortunately this place makes a GREAT eggs benny, and one of the nicest hollandaise sauces I have ever tasted. Hats off to the Chef! Beware though; get the half order, these things are big. However, I did manage to scarf them both down. I was stuffed. The hash browns were pretty tasty and piping hot too, but I couldn't eat them all. My wife had the hand pie, it was tasty too, but in our opinion needed more filling. A lot of people were ordering the bowls, they looked really good. Huge portions for their bowls! Even the half size will definitely fill you up! Quite overpriced (-1 star) but the half size is seriously equivalent to 3 meals. From I had read this place seemed worth a visit. But we didn't get off to a stellar start when I couldn't see a list of coffee and tea anywhere as I stood at the counter so I asked the young female cashier, "Where is your coffee menu?" She replied in a robotic tone, " we have everything." I had been told of a shortage of good candidates for service jobs in Sechelt and I would agree. This is my go to restaraunt to showcase Sechelt to visiting. I always get the bennies, always a different one, and always a different experience. There is so much variation here, but it's always good. They love butter here, so I suggest a solid walk on the Sechelt waterfront right after the meal to fight off the sluggishness after a heavy meal. read more

The people taking orders and payments are fast and friendly, but the woman who is usually making the coffee is very slow, to the point where we've given up a few times and just left. What a charming place. Lots of delicious homemade-style treats, and they must have the best coffee on the Sunshine Coast (no kidding!). Very friendly staff, too. The only possible problem is that they're so popular, they may be full and you may need to sit outside--but if so, don't overlook the patio area in back, which isn't obvious from the main part of the store. read more

We love the Basted Baker, and visit regularly. Their espresso is the best I have had anywhere in the world and is an excellent foundation for lattes and machiatos. I really like the way the menus work - only one sandwich, soup and salad each day. As a business owner I think it's an interesting way to manage food inventory and a small cooking space, and I like that if I miss a favorite, it will come up again in the month. Great way to build return visits. The baking is different every day and sometimes even different in the morning from the afternoon. I would love a health bar of some kind with low glycemic index and perhaps using locally sold hemp hearts. The soups, salads and sandwiches are delicious and interesting. It's interesting reverse-engineering the flavours too. Kudos for the meats sourced from Butcher Dave, who supports free run products and has personally inspected the processing facilities of almost every item in his shop for humane methods. That is a huge plus for me. One note: if you are in a rush, heading for a ferry, in a big group, specialty drinks can take extra time.... but the coffee is so good the wait is worth it. read more

I was told rather bluntly and without further explanation that the kitchen was closed for the day (this was one hour before closing). The second time I came in I decided to try some of their bakery items. The shop is located conveniently, with lots of street and nearby parking. The interior is neat and has a nice ambience. However, I was a bit disappointed in their bakery items. For the price, I expected more. I ordered the hand pie and the apple pie and my total came out to about $18... I would say that's pretty expensive for 2 pastries. The size and amount of filling was alright but I still can't justify spending almost $9 per item. Also, the service wasn't the most friendly and I had to wait a long time just to have the pastries re-heated. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back here for the pastries. I've heard good things about their other menu items though and perhaps would feel more inclined to go back and try those if the service was a bit more warm. read more

Went to Basted Baker on a visit with my sister, after a recommendation from a mutual friedn.. We were back the next day!! What a place!!! The food is amazing. Home made biscuits in place of the usual ugly Dumpster muffins. Those biscuits are better than we (or our mother & grandmother) make and we come from a line of a GOOD cooks. Eggs poached exactly as we asked (still runny) I could go on and on. Second time we got the "egg sandwich" which is just like a benny, but asked for the top to be put on the side. I'm updating my review of Basted Baker to reflect my experience today. I arrived just after 10 am when the place was starting to fill up. Ordered a biscuit sandwich with my eggs poached hard. Received order with egg yolk running down the sandwich and on to the plate. Asked the kind young man behind the counter (pointing at the order receipt which specified eggs done hard) that it was not to order. He graciously apologized and said it would be a couple of minutes. No prob, I say. I knew it wasn't his responsibility. Anyway, fast forward 5-10 minutes and he called out my order and when I went up to the counter, the same sandwich with the egg yolk running down the side of the sandwich and onto the plate was waiting for me. The young man said that the egg that was on the sandwich was actually done hard, that a different egg had dripped the yolk. Since my dining partner was well into his breakfast, I accepted what I was given. But Basted Baker had an opportunity to take their mistake and make it right. I ended up cutting the biscuit up to remove the raw yolk, and wiping the part of the plate that had yolk on it. Then, to my displeasure, the top of the biscuit came off and low and behold, there was raw yolk on the biscuit top. I am very displeased with how Basted Baker "fixed" their mistake. read more

We got off the ferry and googled breakfast places and this was #1... We arrived and there was no line. The atmosphere of this place is nice and very cute decor. We met the owner of the place and he was super friendly and nice.. We even brought our 5 month old and he was good. We asked what were the most popular dishes and they were amazing! The breakfast hash was delicious, the kale in the dish was a good topping! My fiance got the eggs bene and he loved it too. Since it was my fiance birthday they gave us some birthday biscuits to go...and boy were they delicious even the next day! Also, they have a really nice hidden patio in the back, we loved sitting there. I would recommend this place and come back again! read more

We lucked into this place looking for something for lunch while wandering downtown Sechelt. Our first visit we had sandwiches on giant biscuits - they were amazing. We also had a good look at the menu, and knew we had to come back. We returned to try the eggs bennie. They were fantastic - and cooked perfectly. The hollondaise really does taste homemade, it was very nice. While we were there, we saw people eating the potato bowl (the name escapes me at the moment). So we had to come back for that. It was excellent too. Personally - the only change I would make would be to add a third egg on it. That is an option. There are options for adding various sides (smoked salmon, bacon, sausage) into the hash, but I think just adding a third egg on top would be absolutely perfect. Actually, I found it pretty perfect already, but it would extend the perfect-ness to more bites. Things to note - it does get busy, and seating is limited. Food is good, but doesn't come out quickly, so be prepared to sit and visit for a bit. If it takes a bit more time to make food this good, I'm happy to wait. read more
