They had plenty of umbrella covered tables to keep you out of the sun. The only negative: you order with toast tab, and there's no way to customize anything. My husband has food allergies, so it knocked out a bunch of options. We settled on nachos, and they wound up being really tasty. We did add a little salt, but overall very good and filling. (The chorizo and avocado were a little extra.) My husband went up to the bar to get some samples for us to try, and we both chose the Pocket Calculator. It was rich, sweet, and very tasty. If you are visiting Detroit, you have to stop at Batch. This is coming from a Michigander who now lives in San Diego (the craft beer capital). Every single beer we had was clean and fresh. Even the styles that don't usually appeal to me were good. We ordered two flights, and let the bartender pick what she thought we should try. The brewer popped out and chatted with us for a bit and gave us a couple other brews that we hadn't tried yet. Every person working was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their product. They all were eager to chat and share their favorites. We also had the grilled cheese which was SUPER cheesy. For $10, it's a great snack with the beers. The proximity to the Trumbull hotel and the reviews had me intrigued to stop by for lunch, and I was most certainly not disappointed. The homemade pretzel was delicious and the mustard was exceptional. I was a bit disappointed with the brisket burger, it was soggy and bit bland but the pulled pork with grit cake was delicious. I will have dreams about the pimento dip. Got a little trio of beer. The website draft list is not current, so I can't remember what we had. There was a great mango/passionfruity IPA. I can't believe I haven't left a review here... We've been coming here since the beginning, through the pandemic and beyond. Definitely my favorite brewery in the city!! The layout of both inside and out is solid. Their shelter, added during Covid, was a welcome add and have continued to utilize the structure well. Their beer rotates pretty regularly and I don't recall many (if any) permanent choices which I like. Love their food as well! Came here for dinner and a couple beers on a Saturday. Has a traditional brewery feel, and large picnic style tables. Ordering is unique, you scan a QR code based on where you're sitting and can order at any time. I was surprised by how quickly every food and drink came after we ordered. Really cool brewery! Fun ambiance and lots of seating options, which they need because this place gets busy. I was there on Monday night and by 6pm the place was crowded. They have long community tables if you feel like socializing. They have indoor and outdoor seating. A large tent like dining area outside for the overflow, and it's warm and cozy inside. A great, large outdoor patio to enjoy in the warmer months, with games and such. Breweries are always full it seems of babies and dogs, and this area is made for it. The IPA Nectaron of the Goods was very good but my favorite was the Schwarzbier, they do a lot of lagers. And the menu has some great stuff, try the BBQ. read more

This beer spot has grown so much since my last review (3 years ago!)- nice communal indoor seating as well and a large outdoor pavilion that gets insulated during the winter months. This is definitely a hidden jewel in Corktown. So we went to this restaurant on taco Tuesday. The food was really good. I had the steak tacos with corn tortillas. The steak is grilled, and seasoned to perfection. All the meats are grilled which add to the flavor. They do offer flour tortillas for those that don't like corn tortillas. I also had a Mexican beer which is a lager-- very flavorful. The restaurant has a huge outdoor seating area, a portion of it is shaded. There's also an indoor section. You have to order the food with the server but you order all the drinks using a QRS code. The drinks come out really fast. The waiters/waitresses are super nice. My only complaint was that they had no guacamole for the tacos or the tortilla chips. The menu also has grilled bbq ribs which look amazing. I didn't try them, but I plan to try it next time. It's been awhile since I was last year... walk down memory lane for sure. If you're looking for light easy drinking beers, this is the place for you. If you want IPA's heavy on hops, this is not what you want. My Low Boi west coast IPA very easily could've been a Pilsner. That being said if it had just been called a Pilsner, I probably would've enjoyed it for what it was more than what I thought I was getting. The service was good, the staff was very friendly. They were very patient with my son who treated our table as his own personal water table. Sorry! I will come here on a hot day to drink a light beer. We were not able to take advantage of the food truck this time, but they do have rotating food trucks on different days of the week that look pretty good. read more

This brewery has an amazing atmosphere, with tables outside and board games available for all to grab. The outside area is also dog-friendly. You order from a QR code at the table, so the service is quick and efficient. The selection of beers is amazing. But the Batch's standout is their frozen beer slushy. Every month there is a new flavor, from passion fruit to strawberry sundae - their creativity is endless. And if you're not sure what to get, they offer small flight sized options for most (if not all) of their beers. Their food doesn't fall far behind at all. In fact there have a local smoker, with delicious smoked briskets and bratwurst. And like any good brewery - a delicious pretzel to accompany your drink. Rock city eatery this month at batch. This place is one that I think tries way to hard to be trendy. The venu is great, outdoor seating even the time they took to get the custom speakers for the clean sound heard throughout however, the menu choices seem to steer clear of the American food into a realm of complex unknowns and letdowns. I've been here a handful of times. Brunch and regular menu items that are bar foods trying to be something they're not, rotating chefs for the revolving menu. The shrimp and grits that have soggy mushrooms for some reason to the spicy bratwurst with kraut but no mustard? It seems they get every chef in this place to ruin a good traditional American dish with their 'spin' but it's really just an over-complex item that ends up just tasting a bit .. off? Now, the burger (not pictured) $15 bucks for a hand made house bread caramelized onion, the fancy cheese and arugula and the nachos (not pictured) that I've had before are alright but, I'm also speaking to a burger and nachos at a bar so, am I really saying much? The price is good for the area averaging about $13-16 a person and for the time and again, it's hard to speak to the food specifically as the Chef is always changing so is the menu so, let's talk brews. Starting with the beer banana split. Again, this was a good idea until it was like your 'one' friend on a Friday night trying to order pizza, adding pineapple to a damn classic dish when it was great without it. Yea, you got it, there's beer, banana and vanilla mixed to a chilled slurry and what else, pineapple. I've had a lot of banana splits in my day, never with pineapple. You get the cherry top with the chocolate and strawberry additions but, this one was a huge turnoff with the pineapple being overbearing with the beer. R2G2. Great light taste of grapefruit. The Stevie Sour a lime-sour aftertaste. This place has too much going on but, maybe that's their vibe. But the outdoor seating is a great addition, they have three ways to order (yea three) inside bar (you get a physical menu) inside table (digital ordering) outside seating (digital menu) Kid, elderly, family and dog friendly. Settled here in the late afternoon for some beers/snacks. Large open space inside as well as outdoor seating during the nicer months. Started off with the "Bark Louder" IPA ($7ish) - a crisp hoppy ale with some tropical notes. Paired this with their Cauliflower Wings ($8), essentially roasted cauliflower cooked with some buffalo sauce. Not breaded, so easy to eat without feeling terrible afterwards. Second beer was the "Dying Art" IPA ($7ish) - a more heavy bodied beer though still with plenty of hops. Spot itself is cool, with board games to the side and knowledgeable bartenders. We were brew hopping around Detroit with the final plan of grabbing dinner down by the Christmas tree before they take it down. But the weather had other plans. It was incredibly cold and windy. Neither of us has much tolerance for the cold but this was extreme!! We chickened out. Lol! Anyway, this was on our list of stops and was my first time here. One thing we have figured out is that I have been to breweries all over the Mid West but have not been to that many right around home. Haha. Well I loved this place. It was actually on the busier side compared to everywhere else we had been. We enjoyed our time talking to others at the bar and the beer tenders. We enjoyed watching them brew the beer which is done right in front of you. Definitely somewhere we will come back to. Welp... My fancy dinner ended up turning into Green Dot but that's ok. The beer is good but the food, not so much. We've been there a couple times now and both times the food was not particularly flavorful and they seemed to have a hard time getting it to us. Yesterday we picked up some sausages from their outdoor bbq smoker which smelled great but was very underwhelming. For $10 each I would have expected a big gourmet sausage on an artisanal bun with lovely sides, but what we got left me thinking I could have made a better hot dog in a pan at home for under $2. The sausage itself was tiny, and despite being in a bbq smoker it was not very flavorful. The cheap white bun tasted like freezer burn. The toppings were mostly generic sauces out of grocery store squeeze bottles. A lot of people enjoy this place for the outdoor aesthetic and the drinks--if you go, I'd suggest getting food somewhere else. read more

Banchan Brewery is such a fun place to go to. I always enjoy visiting. The beer is always fantastic, and there is such a great variety. They change the menu recently, so we had to try some of the food while we were there we got the smoked wings which were delicious, and some of the sandwiches to cut up and share between four of us. Everything was absolutely delicious, we particularly enjoyed the pork belly sandwich. The wings I will come back for again, they were just so delicious.
