A nice tasting room in the center of Cannon Beach with good wines and friendly employees…read more We knew that we wanted to get some wine while visiting the area and used Yelp to find this tasting room. The actual winery is in Washington, but I would still consider that local. The number of wines offered was impressive. They had a large selection of whites, reds, and an even larger selection of sweet wines. We each did a tasting which offered five samples so that we could try more of the wines. I liked everything I tasted, but my favorite was the Pear Riesling. All of the wines were smooth and had nice flavor. The employee that did our tastings was friendly. He knew a lot about the winery and the wines we were tasting. He made conversation while we tried our wines and added to the tasting experience. The wine tasting room is on the small side, but was comfortable and clean. There is a tasting counter and then an area of food and other items for sale. Some of the wines for purchase are already refrigerated which was nice.

You get to taste 5 different wines, from an extensive list, and the tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle. At this point, many of the grapes for their wines are sourced from eastern Washington, and notably Columbia Valley. Standouts for me were the Smoky Nor'wester, a Bordeaux Red Blend; and the Surfer Syrah. The Syrah was good and peppery, but on par with other readily available Columbia Valley Syrahs, so I went with a bottle of the smooth and balanced Smoky Nor'wester (hint: the name doesn't describe the flavor). My wife really enjoyed the "Rapture of the Deep", a sparkling cranberry wine. We came home with a bottle of that, too. If you are visiting Seaside, and enjoy wine, I would highly recommend stopping in for a visit.

I want to call out the one star review by Melody P. I was at the winery when this occurred and…read morewitnessed the full incident, and I urge you to not judge this winery or its owner based on her review. To be clear, I have been coming to Endless Sound since shortly after it opened and am a wine club member. I was at the winery with friends this evening when I watched this unfold. Melody came in with a man and small child and was told to take a seat. Mark (the owner) was single-handedly managing 20-25 people while preparing for the wine and cheesecake pairing. Shortly after sitting down, Melody got up and went to the counter where she proceeded to verbally accost Mark at a high enough volume where she could be heard throughout the space. She did not allow Mark the chance to respond to her, nor did she ever try to engage with him in a less confrontational manner. After sitting, she sat and waited. She never tried to flag him down. Instead, she went straight to a verbal altercation with a raised voice, in which she made an absolute scene and embarrassed herself. She immediately ran to Yelp and left this review. Frankly, she should be ashamed. To call Mark a racist is also deeply problematic to me. As someone who has been coming to this winery since shortly after it opened, I have never once seen Mark treat anyone with something less than absolute respect and kindness. Melody's accusation has malicious intent, and frankly, maybe she was having a bad day, but Mark is a phenomenal human and welcoming to all. For those of you looking for a real opinion, this is an incredible local spot with great wines, awesome ambiance, a ton of cool events, and a wonderful and knowledgeable winemaker.
