The rose garden and decor are wonderful. The victorian saloon is gorgeous! It's worth it to go see it! The wine is just average - we did like the white reisling and the malbec, and the port was also good. We ordered the trail mix which is actually a small charcuterie plate. The crackers were stale. The music was KZOK radio (Seattle). Rock and roll did not fit the beautiful decor. So it's kind of a mixed bag. But go see the saloon and beautiful light fixtures. read more

Very good news! This winery has been operating irregularly the last year or so. The owners, who are friends, have been dealing with some health issues. But as I said - good news! They are both past those health issues and now open week ends again. A side benefit (if you can call it that) to their being closed is that much of the wine laid down in barrels before their health issues hit has only become better. It is now being bottled. Great gem not too far off I-5. Wish they had more live music and a food truck. Wine tasting was $9 per person. One white, three reds ( Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet ) and one port ( offered with dark chocolate ). Wine by the bottle prices were very affordable ranging from Riesling at $28 ) lowest ) to the Port at $44 ( highest ). Wine slushies are offered in the summer one white made with the Riesling and one red made with the Syrah. No food options but does have water and popcorn. They also offer local honey and sauces. Ambiance is great. Inside and out and is full of charm. The best part about Medicine Creek Winery is the very friendly dogs that greet you when you enter. Staff were stellar. This is a hidden gem , the decor and ambiance is amazing. You get 6 tastings -$10 Bottle of wine average $30-40 Their Riesling was very sweet , all most too sweet for my taste Reds were good and the chocolate served with dessert wine was a perfect pairing Update , they do have actual glasses now not plastic. No food but sounds like they may be in planning stages. Bring your own snacks , there is tables and chairs. We brought a little cheese , cracker and fruit tray and sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a bottle of wine. The winery sign is after the main entrance, drive slow or you'll pass it , it is tucked away and it's a pain to turn around. I lived in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and toured the vineyards of the region. I have been to Paw Paw, Michigan and sampled their offerings. My favorite part of this winery is the setting. This is set slightly apart from the wineries one exit down on I-5, but still close enough to make it a must if doing the South Sound Wine Trail. I love that they have some property that feels like being in the middle of nowhere. The grounds are a nice setting for a weekend afternoon of wine tasting. The tasting room is a very cool place. The whole building feels a little historical, a little haunted house. I bet this would be a really cool stop during the Halloween season. You can grab some wines to taste and head outside to the patio seating. The people at the winery come out and check to see which samples you'd like next. When we were there we were even brought some chocolate. Definitely a cool spot to hang out with friends and enjoy some good wines. read more

Me and my husband went to the Medicine Creek Winery in Washington state and it was wonderful!!!!!!! We did the " wine tasting "and I liked the different wines she selected for us to sample. I ultimately selected the first one and the last one that we sampled. We loved the atmosphere and the wine We can't wait to visit again next year!! While I was in the Pacific Northwest, we went wine tasting at a few different tasting rooms, and Medicine Creek was easily my favorite. I'll agree to everything the original poster said, and vouch for the sangiovese, too. The thing I loved the most about Medicine Creek was the story of all of the different pieces that make up the wine tasting room. Floors from New Orleans, doors from Scotland, hand-made stagecoach... So glad I finally got the chance to stop by. It's such a great place to sit outside and enjoy the weather. There's a patio area with shade, picnic tables, grass so you can bring a blanket as well. I did the tasting (wish I remembered what I tried) and I enjoyed everything! It was tough to choose which bottles to purchase. It's relaxing, small and pretty quiet. One of the nicest tasting rooms I have ever been in and I have been in over 100 wine tasting rooms. Why the 3 stars? They serve their wine in plastic cups. Not a typo. Wine in plastic cups at a winery! Again, the room is fantastic. The wine is so-so. I went to a Valentine's event there and they hosted it well. Chocolate fountain, live band, wide open space outdoors with seating. And yes, they served wine in plastic cups that day too. My wife and I have been here 5 times (because its the closest one by us) and we now bring our wine glasses with us. Worth the trip for the tasting room ambiance, if you bring our own goblets. read more

Medicine Creek Winery is a wonderful boutique winery nestled in the Nisqually Valley right off Old Pac Hwy. The tasting room is beautifully ornate with the awesome Liz behind the bar ready to pour one of their fabulous reds. I really enjoy great red wine and MCW has spoiled me with their distinctive and delicious wines. Simply put these are great wines and they are consistently great. Read about the place...called them and the recording said they would be open weekends after Valentines day. Come to the Chocolate and Wine celebration! We tried! We planned spending Labor Day weekend agritouring the Thurston County Bountiful Byway. 1st stop was at Medicine Creek Winery. What a gem of a winery. Beautiful interior and grounds. Never expected to visit a winery like this, with wines this good on the west side of the Cascades. Spent a wonderful time with Liz behind the bar, pouring and explaining their search for great grapes. Nice to find someone who is passionate about great grapes and great wine. My friend had a deal to use at Medicine Creek, so we stopped in near closing time on a week day. We were the only people in the place, and initially were a little surprised at the decor. This spot has some definite bordello vibes, along with a splash of Halloween. Yes, I said splash of Halloween. I asked the owner about it and she said her husband loves Halloween and she let him go wild decorating the building. They also used to (and still do) have huge Halloween parties there. So on to the tasting... this place loves their reds. Every wine we tried was a red if I recall correctly. Red wine is not my favorite, but I like a good Cab Sauv, pinot noir, or Claret as well as anyone. I liked a couple of the wines here, but found most to be almost bitter. My favorite was a spicy red that I wish I remembered the name of... oh well. Owner was very nice; talked up the email list and gave us crackers. Definitely worth a visit at least once. I would visit this place again but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

This is a beautiful winery and they do offer some nice entertainment. I have to say though that the hospitality is a little on the cold side and they dont serve anything other than red wine and water. If you have any non drinkers in your party..... they only have 1 choice! WATER! read more

This place has a very strange ambiance, similar to something I would expect from an old western movie. Wine was good, but is definitely more focused on reds than whites. They have an outdoor seating area, as well. Sadly, because of government regulations they are not permitted to use tap water for their business, so everything is served in disposable glasses.
