My wife and I used to buy these all the time when they had a shop closer to our home, but now we only visit the store occasionally. The store is spacious with orderly aisles filled with different sized candles and lots of scents. I started on the right side where the large candles were located, but because these aren't cheap (even at half off the suggested price), I migrated to the left side where the smaller jars were. I was able to pick up a couple scents at a more affordable price. The After Sledding is a red candle that reminds me of a holiday kitchen after some baking had taken place. Aromatic Orange and Evergreen is a green candle that marries the two scents in the title. Very fresh! The staff, when not behind the counter at the back, were out mingling with customers to see if they could be of assistance. When I arrived in line and had to wait, the other register was opened so that I could check out promptly. Very observant and considerate! They recently moved to a newer location not far from the old one, and the space is much larger, nicer, and able to accommodate more people comfortably. We all had a great time, and even my teenage boys enjoyed the experience, which says a lot! The candle making process starts by smelling a wide variety of fragrance candles and writing down the ones you like. I will admit this part can be a little overwhelming because there are so many scents to choose from, but they thoughtfully provide coffee grounds to help reset your sense of smell between fragrances. Once you've narrowed down your favorites, you choose a growler (the container for your candle). From there, a staff member guides you through the process. Sam was wonderful and helped us every step of the way. She also made sure I received my birthday perks, including $20 off, and helped me sign up for the rewards program, which gave me an additional $5 off. They were also running a buy three, get one free promotion which worked perfectly for our group of 4. After selecting your favorite scents, you blend them together to create a custom fragrance. Three scents seemed to be the sweet spot, although you can use more if you'd like. Once your fragrance is finalized, you're given warmed soy based wax to mix with your oils. I loved that the candles are made with soy wax. Sam let us know when everything was ready to be poured into our growlers, and the entire process was fun and easy to follow. One of my favorite parts was getting to name my candle and place the custom sticker on it. The candle takes about two hours to set, so we left and came back at the time they recommended to pick it up. Another thoughtful touch was that the restrooms were stocked with feminine hygiene products, which I always appreciate. If you're looking for a unique, fun experience that is perfect for a family outing, date night, girls' day, or special occasion, try it out. I loved that we came here on Mother's day. Starting with the not so great: - A downside to this particular place is that instead of choosing different scents to mix, they already have them pre-mixed. For example, champagne and clean linen scents are already combined, rather than letting you choose and mix them yourself. Since it's structured this way, it does speed up the process, but I will say there are still a few pre-mixed scents you can mix together that would probably turn out smelling great. - When I went to pick up my candle a few days later, I was disappointed to find that it was damaged. Not sure how it happened, but I was shocked when I unwrapped it to discover it was chipped. Even more disappointing was that the staff wrapped a damaged item without mentioning it to me. On the positive side: - It's BYO food and drinks, which we loved. My friends and I brought a bottle of prosecco, charcuterie, and quiche to enjoy. They have a wide selection of vessels to choose from for pouring your candle. You first choose a vessel and the price varies. Then you choose your scent from the scent bar. As you wait there is a small shop to browse, as well as photo opportunities. Once we understood what steps we needed to do then it was simple and they walked us through the quick instructions. We return in a few days to pick up our finished product.
