Bath and Body Works, Emeryville (Bay Street) *Late Post* I came in yesterday and couldn't decide what new fragrances to get! There are so many wonderful scents everywhere! When I stopped by, there were 2 workers upon my arrival. They were both super helpful and friendly! There's one sales associate who is very helpful and super genuine, her name is Faith! I love her honesty and how helpful she was! I'm glad to have a great conversation with her because she made the experience at this BBW a very enjoyable and wonderful experience. Many of the sales associates at this location were also great too compared to other BBW I had visited. I had always had a great experience at this BBW in Emeryville (Bay St.). This review is for whoever is running this store as of 2026 -- you guys are doing a fantastic job! I normally used to order from the San Leandro Bath & Body Works because parking was easier. However, after being disappointed a couple of times, I decided to start doing all my pickup orders at the Emeryville location instead. When I tell you they are QUICK to fulfill online orders -- I mean it! My first order was ready within 2 hours, and my second order was ready within 30 minutes!!! I was honestly impressed. I also really appreciate that they've never canceled any of my items. That alone makes such a difference. So 5/5 stars to everyone running this store and to all the employees! I'm really disappointed with my experience at this Bath & Body Works location. The store hours say they close at 6:00 PM, so I made it a point to stop by at 5:53 PM to grab a Father's Day gift. I wasn't planning to browse--just a quick in-and-out. But when I got there, the doors were already locked and the staff refused to let me in. I get that people want to go home on time, but closing early and turning away customers before the listed closing time is unacceptable. If the doors are going to be shut before 6:00, then the hours need to be updated. Wasted my time and left empty-handed. Very disappointing. read more

This is a good stop if you want to pickup something for the wife on a trip to Bay Street. The store is well laid out and there is always something new here to pickup that the wife will enjoy trying. Everything smells amazing here. The staff is super friendly and always willing to provide advice. There's always about 4 +/- 1 staff members in this store to help. If you tell them you are buying a gift and give them a budget, they always have a great suggestion. One staff member on my most recent visit showed me how to use an online coupon, which I really appreciated. read more

Of course I'm Christmas shopping and placing orders online trying to beat the rush. Ordered the night before but I hadn't received the email it was ready yet. So it's the 23rd and I'm like I'll be waiting outside soon as they open, yep I was there waiting and in the door at 10:07. I tell the manager like I'm not trying to be a bully but is my order ready? I was at the Emeryville shopping area to go to another store and popped in to the BBW. It's on Bay street at the far end away from the Barnes and Noble. I got lucky enough to get a street parking space. The employees who helped me were VERY happy, cheerful and helpful. They coached me on how to use my coupons to the best advantage and packed up my purchases with care. I felt comfortable hanging out and appreciated for my business. It's a smaller store for BBW but they had everything I needed. If I'm in the area I will definitely come back! read more

This was the first time I ever checked in to a Bath and Body Works and not been treated. I walked in on guessing she's a manager or someone important because she helped with the transaction she didn't greet me. The cashier didn't greet me didn't acknowledge me didn't ask me that I need anything. Went in to exchange two 2-pack wallflower refills that I got for $7.90 each online. I went straight to the wall where they had the $3.95 wallflower refills since this was not my first time in the store and I knew where the wallflowers are located. As I made my way to that section, I let an associate know I am just there for an exchange. The sales associate let the manager know what I wanted to do and the manager told me she would not be able to exchange the 2-pack wallflowers because she said I paid $7.90 online and she said one wallflower is $7.50 so she would only exchange my 2-pack for one. She told me I could return the items online to "get my monies worth" since I would get another 2-pack. I pointed at the $3.95 wallflower refills section and asked to just exchange my 2-pack wallflower refills for 2 single wallflower refills (2x$3.95=$7.90) but she she said she couldn't do it because they didn't sell the 2-pack in the store. Like whaaaa? I told her I have exchanged a 2-pack before at the same store and she said they weren't supposed to do that. Hmm... okay. So, at this point, I just didn't even want to deal with her- seems we were on different wavelengths, even the common English language was a barrier. Stepped outside to call customer service to verify I can still return the items (forgot when I got them) and came back in. As soon as I came back these kids start talking to each other on their earpieces to say I'm back. Haha. Sad. Anyway, I ended up RETURNING the two 2-pack wallflower refills I came in with. And BOUGHT 4 single wallflower refills which is ESSENTIALLY an EXCHANGE and precisely what I wanted to do in the first frickin place! Lmao she turned what would've been an easy 2 min transaction into an akward longer one unnecessarily wasting both our times. Bath and body works has gotta include some math exercises in their training or something because seriously, who wants to do business in a place where their employees can't even comprehend some basic math concepts? I have stated before in previous reviews that it does not matter which Bath & Body Works that I go to for their products. I even order their items from their website. I love their products aka "fru-fru stuff"...soaps, lotions, candles, shampoos, conditioners, anti-bacterial hand gel (in the pocket-sized bottles). Bath & Body Works sent me an email a few days ago, indicating that they were having a store special - soaps in bottles for $2.50 each (a saving of $4.00) and a limit of 15 bottles on Saturday, December 13. I don't pass up on bargains. Then I am also running low on their deep cleansing soaps. Since this Bath & Body Works is the closest to my home, I stopped here to get my 15 bottles of soaps. They sure had a nice variety of the hand soaps...gentle foaming and deep cleansing. Yep, I purchased the max of 15 bottles. It was a $60.00 savings. I could have saved even more on the purchase...I forgot to bring my 20% off coupon for the entire purchase...lol. read more

Ok so I arrived here at 7:30PM and noticed that the doors were closed. I tried knocking and no one came. I then called and was informed that they were closed. I then informed them that on the website the closing time is 9:00PM. They repeated that they were closed and that 7:00PM is their closing time. I wish that the actual closing time would be reflected on the website as this was a wasted trip smh. Other than that I love the products and would not be as upset if they were not closed when they were supposed to be open after I decided to make a trip after work. I don't know, maybe it's the location but it would be nice to keep your customers informed. read more

Leaving this review actually causes me a bit of sadness. Only because I don't typically like to leave unpleasant reviews about young ladies of color, especially because I know how difficult it is to be a woman of color in the workforce. But I can't go without saying how unprofessional and unpleasant of an experience my sister and I had while recently visiting this establishment. I love love Bath and Body Works especially there candles so anytime I see a Bath and Body Works store front I get pulled in. On this particular day my sister took me out to celebrate my birthday with lunch and a day of shopping. Our day was going awesome ate a near by restaurant, walked around shopping at different stores having a great day. However; that all changed when we came in to this Bath and Body Works. We were first greeted by two sales reps who actually were very friendly. My sister and I walked around the store a bit looking for a particular item she wanted. My sister asked one of the sales reps where that particular item was and if they carried it. The young lady was so kind and showed her where the item was. While my sister was standing there another sales rep walked up and was standing beside her I believe to just arrange the items on the shelf next to where my sister was standing. At this point I walked over and started a conversation with my sister. In the conversation I mentioned how I was anticipating Bath and Body Works upcoming Candle day Sale. I must of hit a nerve or something with the sales rep because out of no where she inserted herself in our conversation. Not that it was a problem but her tone and approach was beyond unpleasant. She started off by saying in the rudest of tone " Do you think your going to get body washes on sale during Candle day"?I responded with no I was just talking about Candles. She then went on with her rude tone now adding eye rolling and neck twisting to go on to say " Well if you think your going to come in this store on Saturday and get Candles your not". I replied that I wasn't planning on coming to this particular location. At that point her interaction with us became worse. Her entire tone, mannerisms, and overall interaction with us was so unprofessional she continued to roll her neck, eyes, and speak to us in this half ghetto slang. At that point to ease the tension I could see my sister was feeling we both tried to make lite of the situation by laughing and in a playful manner ask the rep if she was okay because it seemed like she wanted to fight.. My sister and I continued to try and make best of the uncomfortable situation by just laughing it off and letting the young lady know although we look young we have children and niece's, nephews her age. Although she did say she meant no disrespect the harm was already done. She then went on to identified herself as the store manager. This I think was more disturbing to learn than anything. My sister and I locked eyes as in to say let's get out of here. When we walked out and honestly for the remainder of the day we couldn't help but talk about this young lady who identified herself as the manger. We kept saying how unprofessional she was especially with her neck continously twisting and rolling while speaking to us as if we were children. It was so sad on so many levels because it doesn't show this young lady of color in a good light. It was so off-putting and uncalled for in how she spoke to us and her overall unprofessional body jesters made our Bath and Body Works experience something we can't get out of our heads. I really hope this is not her normal approach when interacting with customers because it was not welcomed nor was is appropriate behavior to have with anyone let alone potential customers. I called later to ask the store managers name and was told her name is Maya. Maya although initially seem nice is far from that. I can only assume we caught her on a bad day and would hope she is not like these or displays this behavior regularly. If so I do recommend some more training on how to properly interact with customers. Because this has been on my head for a few days I had to post about this experience because it truly was an experience that did not have to happen. I honestly will NEVER COME BACK to this store. COVID protocols were taken into account and social distancing. I walked in and was greeted by someone at the door, and then she told me about the deals that were going on today. As I walk through I pick up two candles however I didn't realize that the bags/shopping bags were actually their check out bags. So someone helped me get one as she asked if I was finding everything OK as she saw that my hands are full. As I start to look at the wall flowers I get asked once more are you finding everything OK. I say yes once again. As I am looking for a specific wallflower that I don't see that they have I keep looking at as they have two other walls nearby to look for them. And once again I get asked are you finding everything OK. This is where it gets a little bit uncomfortable as I have also worked in retail. Do you normally ask this multiple times to a person you think you is stealing. Mind you I'm wearing a pair of jeans a regular tshirt and some tennis shoes with my hair in a ponytail. I am a 5'2 Asian girl that's roughly about 140 pounds so I'm not too sure to why they kept asking me since the only thing I had on me was my backpack which is smaller than my forearm. As I was making my way to the counter I was asked ONCE AGAIN. " are you finding everything OK Miss" Now mind you there's only two people in the store their customers the remaining or employees and there's about eight or nine of them. Why there at eight or nine of them when it is not busy at all doesn't make sense to me but I'm not manager so neither here nor there. But the profiling here was not needed as I was just picking up a three wick candle and wallflowers. Also. I only paid meter parking for 8 minutes since I only needed 2 things. But I was so uncomfortable that I was only in the store for 4 minutes total. That means every 60 seconds I was asked. I barely had time to think in my head without being interrupted. I was so irritated that I LOOKED for the survey on the receipt but they didn't have it. So here I am. WARNING. THEY WILL PROFILE YOU HERE. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

I have mixed feelings about this specific store. So a few weeks back I went in to bath in body works just to browse. And this was what turned me off by one of the workers. My friend asked a question about the body washes and the worker's response was totally unacceptable. She responded with an obnoxious laugh and woudn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes, but it seemed like forever. This was totally embarrassing, and my friend and I just scurried out f the store. What we should have done was complained to the manager. I hope she gets the axe. She was incompetent, loud, rude, and wearing a wife beater to work? Please what kind of sales rep is that? So another time after that unbelievable incident, we went to the same store. We had a print out coupon to redeem one of the new travel size paris lotions. I asked a nice about this promotion and she gladly showed me the lotions. She was very friendly and personable. She made me feel comfortable in the store and we received our lotions without any hassle. So in all, I feel forever scared by my experience with customer service at this place. Had a similar experience as Alex in the reviewers. I came to exchange 5 items and couldn't even get 3 because they were in stock anymore. That's not what the other bath and body works told me. I would have ended up having to pay $26 odd dollars for 3 items after returning 6 so instead i just bought 2 items and paid $6 which really doesn't seem like a fair exchange at all and what's even worse is, I had the proof of purchase in my email from just last month with a few items. I really didn't like the smell of what i bought and my items literally were barely used so it's pretty frustrating not feeling like i got my money worth. The lady at the counter said there's only an order number and not a transaction number so the system won't let her do it. Now if i had called a manager or asked to speak with someone higher up it could have easily been granted. I truly thought bath and body works believes in customer satisfaction, but here I am writing a bad review sitting outside the store because i honestly feel PLAYED walking out the store with two body washes and a $1 odd hand sanitizer case totaling about $30 bucks after returning about $50-60 worth of stuff WITH a e receipt. Totally inconsiderate. And her words and demeanor were very apologetic but more could have been done to help me out in saving. Even using a discount code for the inconvenience. Like i just bought some of the stuff around Christmas and it just passed New Years so it's not really fair to charge me half / less than half or what i paid when the email shows i indeed paid a lot more for the item. I used to only shop here to pick things up for my wife periodically, but ever since they have started to stock more products for men, I have been shopping here more during their annual sales events and when they offer specials. They have a lot of nice scents to many of their products, but my go to items are always the Bigelow brand lemon and menthol scented lotions and bath and body brand sanitizers. If you decide to shop here, i'd suggest that you sign up for their mailing list, as they regularly send coupons and free item promos through their flyers. read more

I LOVE Bath & Body Works at the Emeryville Shopping Centre on Bay Street!! This is an amazing shop with a great Staff! I expect good customer service and every time I come in to this shop the Staff are sparkling, bubbly, savvy, and keen to help me out and have a chat with me which pleases me to the tea! This store is so unorganized and unprofessional from the young kids they hire to the fact they have no current store manager. My friend quit the day the new " acting " manager Ashleigh started in mid November. Said manager was having a vulgar conversation abour her previous relationships with men, with some 21 yr old employee cursing up a storm in the back room while my friend was watching on boarding material on the computer, ridiculously inappropriate. After my friend returned to the sales floor Ashleigh then proceeded to chastise her about not greeting 2 customers out of maybe 15 who entered, they were on cell phones. My friend reported her to HR, it's such a shame this filth was transferred there. My friend was excited to work there but she has too much class to be around such a person. My last experience here was frightening. I call ahead to ask see if they have the product that I want available and to see what time they are open until. The employee who answers my question with "yeah, I think we should have enough for you" and "we close at either 9 or 10pm". So I try to clarify if they have a set number of products and which of the closing times she suggested was correct and her answer is still "yeah, i think we should have enough for you" and "well, one person says 9 and one person says 10". Well, that's not helpful.... So I go earlier than 9pm just to be safe. I enter the store and pick out my products. I am buying a ton of stocking stuffers for the holidays. There is an advertisement for free bag, ribbon, and gift tag. So I ask one of the employees at the front of the store if it's ok that I get enough bags, ribbons, and gift tags for all the stocking stuffers that I will be buying. She says yes. Score! When I check out, I ask the cashier for the promised bags and gift tags and she says "No,.. I don't think we have enough." I should have been more forceful and told her the other employee said it was fine and that she should in fact go look. But I didn't want to hold up the line and resigned to figure it out myself due to this employee's laziness. Before I paid, I told the cashier that I had a coupon. This is a coupon that was sent to my phone via the Bath and Body Works website. I showed the cashier and she hesitates and asks me "Is this a Bath and Body Works coupon?" Uhh no, I am showing you a coupon for some other random store..... So I explained that the website suggested that I could either print it out or text it to my cell phone. And after a few seconds, she realized that I am not trying to give her a random fake coupon and figured out how to apply my coupon for me. *sigh* Needless to say I will not be back here if I can help it. read more

Bath and body works is my ultimate guilty pleasure. From the ridiculous deals (all the buy 3 get 3 free's) to the organized and clean decor, how can you not love this place? By forking over a small sum of $$, you can leave a satisfied customer who will smell great for days. So how does bath and body make so much money with such great deals? First off, prices can be pretty steep. I wouldn't consider a body soap worth it if it costs $13 for a small bottle that lasts several weeks. BUT, consider the fact that you can get the buy 3, get 3 free or buy 2, get 1 free, then you save A lot! And what's also good about bath and body? A lot of their items last a long time. With one lotion bottle, I can keep it with me for months. With all the great things about this store, there is something I'd bring up though. Everytime I walk in, workers either assume I'm here shopping for a friend who's a girl or I'm here for the men's aisle. Frankly, I love all the fragrances and all the products at bath and body, so please don't stereotype me! Besides the initial encounters I get, my experiences at bath and body are generally great. I'm always happy to patronize this BBW location at the Bay Street shops at Emeryville. The cashiers here are very liberal with accepting coupons (multiple at times) and giving out coupons. Most of the time you can catch a sale here whether it be on body wash or their lovely triple shea body cream but the best deal is on their candles which have increased from 2/$22 to 2/$24 but are worth it. Just stood in line for 10 min to buy a gift card for my daughter who loves their stuff. During this time, I watched two sullen, apathetic employees at the register go through the motions with no concept of helpfulness. One told a woman she couldn't get store credit for a gift she was returning; that it had to go back onto the card used for purchase. That's a lie- she was just being lazy and didn't want to cancel and re-start the transaction (which she did when the woman insisted). After watching them move in slow motion standing for 10 minutes, 6 other people got into another line and another 2 behind me. When the woman in front of me is done with her transaction, the employee at my register tells me "the line is over there", pointing to the line that has increased 3x since I got in line. I point out her foible and receive only an apathetic shrug. Ok- not only will I not ever come back, I won't help my daughter come back to make any purchases. I just picked up a ton of items for my family in Hawai'i where there are no B&BW stores. I go in and usually they're helpful. However I thought that the latino worker was extremely helpful with everything today. Since I bought so much stuff and he knew that I was shipping these items he offered packing materials for me! How nice is that! He was extremely helpful. These included tissue paper and clear plastic bags in case of a spill. not to mention that there are a ton of sales going on around there. Wall flowers are only $5 bucks so I stocked up on a lot of those too. The soaps were only 3 for $10 too. So this review is specifically for the nice latino gentlemen that helped me out today. I always get good customer service here. When they have sales on it's good to stock up on soaps and they last me a while. I really like their foaming hand soaps, and their hand moisturizers with anti bacterial. The small pocket size antibacterials are good too - I think they're 5 for $5. The best scents here in my opinion are the Japanese Cherry Blossom, the White Citrus. For bathroom hand soap they had a seasonal one a couple of years ago called Tropical Papaya - I stocked up on it then but now I am running low and they no longer have it :( read more

Our only experience with the products from here are with the hand soaps and we feel that most of them are way to scented. You end up smelling like you are wearing perfume after using them. So, we will not be buying them again. The employees here are friendly and nice however so no complaints about the customer service, just the products don't seem worth it. read more

I was greeted as soon as I walked in and asked if I needed help finding anything. I was looking for something in particular and they gladly showed me where the product was. They were happy to answer any questions they had about the product which is always great. As per usual, this store was very well organized and stocked the way it should be. The store is located across the street from Gap and there is plenty of other stores around being on the strip mall. They no longer give free bags here and will begin charging you for a bag. Ridiculous if you ask me but it wasn't up to the company otherwise they would give out bags with your purchase. read more
