I went back and complained they have no sympathy no compassion for black people She told me I shouldn't have opened it, HOW THE HELL DID I KNOW THEY WERE NAVY BLUE? I WOULDN'T PURCHASED it. I spend hundreds of dollars with these UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE and got nothing in return not even an exchange. I'm glad that a lot of Black women and girls are doing and creating their own nail, hair, eyebrows, etc businesses because we need to stop supporting people who don't give a damn about the black community by taking our money and getting rich off our backs!! I'm sick of it and we as a black community should be too. They treat us like crap. They take our money we giving it to them like dummies while all along their sitting behind their counters watching us like a Damn hawk on their cameras or they follow us around as though we're the only ones on the planet that steal. Listen, if you are suppose to be open at 9:00 AM on Saturday's. It's expected for your business to be open. I as a customer. A one and done customer at that, do not want to see the owner of the business exercises in front of the business when the business is suppose to be open. Especially when I have other things planned in my day, you want to be 30 minutes late opening a business that is suppose to be open at 9:00. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My first time patronizing this business yesterday and I had an unusual experience. They didn't have the product I wanted so I asked for a recommendation. The ladies were very helpful and made a suggestion. Since I was indecisive on which one of the 2 products I wanted I figure buy both. Well, at the register as I was about to pay, the cashier asks the other lady if I needed both items. The other replies, " No, they are practically the same". Purchased a lace front, body wave ombre wig for $350 from this beauty supply. Within about a week, the wig got wet in the shower, there was no longer a body wave pattern and the ombre dye started to bleed. Now it shed so much I called the beauty supply and was told this wasnt its issue, that I need to contact the supplier. I was given a name, but no contact info. Everytime I come here I'm met with a smile! The young ladies and gentlemen at the store are always extremely helpful and patient as a try on many styles and look for new treasures. I'm so grateful to have them in the neighborhood! Today, I came in for a wig and the young lady at the register was available to wait with me while I tried on several wigs - she was joyful and patient, which I was grateful for because sometimes trying a new look can be a little nerve-racking. I'm giving this there stars because of the young lady name Allie. A lot of times when you get to the checkout with the man prices change. You tell him and he acts as though you're a liar and makes you wait while he checks it. He's very deceptive, he knows he's the owner but says he isn't. I gave three stars also because he does have a black young lady working there. So that was worth a star. I am however not going to be patronizing this store too much because I asked the price of something and they didn't want to tell me over the phone. I'm disabled and need to send someone to make my purchase . They denied me the information so that's a negative in my book. Last Friday I was a woman on a mission: tired of commuting all the way to The Richmond for a good, reasonably-priced waxing, I was determined to acquire my own waxing accoutrements. The summer prior I had attempted to wax my own legs for the first time. It made me regret not having asked an old roommate -- a bona fide Brazilian -- for some pointers. Let's just say I panicked when I couldn't get the some of the had-to-remove globs of wax off my legs, envisioning myself as a soon-to-be social outcast. Or maybe someone who would always wear pants. Jinny Beauty Supply delivered when others had failed. My first stop was at Gina's Beauty Supply on Adeline in Berkeley, which seemed to cater specifically for all of your hair up there. While I love wigs just as much as the next girl, all I could come up with was a package of cute plastic hair barrettes for $1, with at least 30 flower-shaped barrettes. No wax in sight, I was glad I had a back-up plan. As I parked on San Pablo, I felt a little uneasy in the neighborhood, but ventured on in the name of beauty! Once inside, it is clear Jinny's means business. In addition to all of the interesting hair products I had come across in Gina's there were multiple displays of glittery hair accessories, cheap but useful makeup (when you don't want to pay $14 a pop for M.A.C. eyeshadows), and other things I didn't really need but suddenly wanted. Never before in my life had I wished so desperately that my straight fine hair had some oomph to it: an entire wall of the store -- from floor to ceiling -- is dedicated to displaying the seemingly limitless options for hair extensions. Trying to stay focused on my singular purpose, with the aid of one of the super friendly salesgirls I found everything I would need to possible epilate myself and 20 of my closest friends (they would have to be pretty darn close to allow me to assault their limbs with hot wax). In the end, I also picked up some fun lip glosses and glam eyeshadow which have become my favorite cheap finds. I can hardly wait until I have a good reason to go back to Jinny's: judging by the number of people who came in and struck up conversations with the staff about their past and future plans for coiffure, it definitely impressed me as a local secret to great hair. My wonderful salon I usually visit was booked up and I had two important events -- no dark roots allowed! Eeek! This place was the only one near my work, so I decided to try it out. I went in looking for some good quality hair dye and they disappointed with their lack of selection. They carried Loreal and a couple other no-name brands, but not a ton of selection. dumb. I did get some no-name dye and developer and was pleased with the results. It was also a nice break on my wallet ($15 instead of about $115 at my salon) I haven't tried any hair extensions, but they did have quite the selection of those here. It was a pleasure to be in a beauty Supply Store where you were not constantly being watched! Trying on wigs was made comfortable by sitting in a chair in front of a mirror. There is even extra seating for a friend! It's apparent that good customer service is important to the staff in this store. Gaby and Gaby were great! They are so friendly and knowledgeable.
