Their local authors section is extensive as well. And of course the sight of baptismal & choir robes in a book store? Intrigued me immensely. Huh?! Gottwal's merged with a local Christian bookstore so they just happen to carry all your religious paraphernalia... I inquired about their local author book presentations and they informed me that the woman in charge of that works at their original store in Warner Robins. Yay! That's where I grew up. I had no clue that the first Gottwal's originated there & is in the old C & S Bank building, of all places, b/c we used to use that bank, back in the day. A few days later, I trekked down to Warner Robins location to see what I could see. This location is two stories & is filled to the brim with all kinds of titles, games, gifts, etc. Thank you to Macon staff who provided me with comprehensive info even though I got there 15 minutes before closing! Rather than trying to rush me out, they were hospitable & kind, no doubt appreciating another bibliophile. I hope people continue patronizing local businesses, especially book stores, versus always ordering from Amazon out there. Local businesses create & support community & we need more of that, imo.

I was outside at my truck on Monday, just days…read moreafter hurricane Helene hit our area, trying to help my husband's mom figure out how to get a generator home because the one she bought wouldn't fit in my truck with all the animal feed, groceries, fuel and other things we had picked up that day. The employee that brought the generator out said immediately that there was no way it was going to fit and another employee named Melissa basically wanted to force it and had it put on my tailgate anyway. Mind you I offered to come back and get it before they closed that day but that wasn't good enough for Melissa and she started being rude and talking crap to me and then walked away and went inside the store, leaving the generator hanging off my tailgate. I then began asking my mother-in-law what she wanted to do because it wasn't going to fit. Melissa then comes back out of the store screaming and yelling at me because in her opinion I wasn't treating my mother-in-law right (I guess because I wouldn't force this generator in my trunk), when I was only asking her what she wanted to do, I was not cussing, yelling or anything. Melissa continued to yell at me for several minutes before my teenage, autistic son couldn't handle anymore and he yelled "shut up". The Manager David came out the door with a gun on his hip, yelling, threatening and walking quickly towards my son. I stepped in front of my son and told the manager that "that's not going to happen because my son is a teenager and autistic". The manager continued and stated "you look grown enough". Law enforcement was called and informed me that the manager lied and stated all this occurred inside the store. I again tried to talk to my mother-in-law to find out what she wanted to do and again David "the manager" became aggressive, this time with me. He starts saying "what you gonna do, what you gonna do" still with a gun on his hip. I mean, who does that? A grown man with a gun, working as a manager, feeling the need to threaten and intimidate an autistic teenager and a 115 lb woman. In my honest opinion these two individuals should be fired. This is the worst experience I've ever had anywhere.

Not knowing which type of liner to get, either or over the top or J hook, I took a picture and sent it to the lady. She told me it was over the top liner. When the workers came, they told me I had the wrong liner. Scheduling the day of work was a bit difficult. First I was told it was too hot for the guys to work. My thinking was "Of course it's going to be hot, it's summer". Then I got a text message to confirm a date of a Saturday in June. I called the lady after I got the text to go over a few things and she no idea who I was. She asked me where I lived and I told her. She said they're not gonna be anywhere near that area on Saturday. I was like you just told me via text you were coming. Then in an email, she said I needed to get "10-50 lbs of play sand". I bought 50 pounds just to be safe. Finally when the workers did arrive and we got past the issue with the liner ( that's after I had to run to a pool store and buy 45 plastic retaining clips) they asked me if I had any duct tape. I had a little bit left so I gave it to them. I showed them the sand that I bought then ran out to do a few errands. Shortly after I left the lady called and said I needed to buy more sand. According to her, I was instructed to buy 10, 50 pound bags of sand. I tried to explain to her that when you between put a hyphen between two numbers it indicates a range. she couldn't understand that part. So I ran back to the store again to buy more sand. When I return home, the workers if I had more duct tape. I said to the I was literally just at Home Depot. Why didn't you tell me before I left. So I had to run out to the store a third time. Oh, I forgot to mention that the day before the work was actually done I was on the schedule for the afternoon. Needless to say nobody ever showed up. I had to call the office mid afternoon to find out what's going on. Like everybody else I just love wasting my day waiting for people to show up and dont.

Great Dollar Tree! They had everything I was looking for and the extra stuff that you always end up…read moregetting when going to a dollar store. There was a lady at the cash register and when I walked inside the store she said welcome to dollar tree ask me if you need any help, the place was pretty full and she was the only checkout lane open so I don't know how she would have helped me. After I looked around I went to the checkout lane and it was she was pretty fast at bagging for customers in front of me. I left she said have a good day, this is a nice Dollar Tree, it is just very messy!
