I was extremely frustrated with a glitch in the B&BW app where it duplicated my bulk Christmas order multiple times without me initially realizing (the app kept crashing and I didn't receive confirmation emails until the next day) - meaning I had to go in person to return SO. MANY. ITEMS. I walked in and let the staff know about the massive return. They were so kind and helpful, immediately getting to work! I had no idea which item went to which order number, as there were so many duplicates, and the staff figured all of it out for me! There were two gals helping me specifically (luckily the store wasn't busy) but I only remember one of their names (Ximena, I think?). Santa Barbara has been our go-to getaway spot for 20 years now, and the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center has been a "base of operations" for us for most of those years. The plaza has a little bit of everything, including a convenient parking garage! For the majority of this time, the Bath and Body Works located in the plaza has been a must-visit spot. It's always fun to give this location a visit, even though we have several locations far closer to where we live in Redlands - a good 165 miles away! Not only is it fun to poke around here and what their selection is like compared to our locations; we've found their employees to always be super friendly and helpful. Our latest visit is a great example! We recently spent a couple of days in Santa Barbara (6/26-6/27) for a mid-week getaway to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Since we had recently finished binging "Bridgerton" on TV, we remembered that B&BW had featured a whole Bridgerton line of products and wanted to see if they still had any in stock. The bad news was that the big tie-in promotion was like a month ago and they were already moving on with other product lines. The GOOD news is that one of the friendliest employees EVER, a woman named Destiny, directed our attention to a section along one of the walls where they still had quite a bit of Bridgerton-themed products in stock... AND she pointed out that they were all on sale for 50% off! BONUS!! Not only that, but she was a Bridgerton fan too! It wasn't too busy at the time so we all got to talk about the show and the products. We wound up buying a few choice items. The next day we decided to go back to buy a few more items that were on sale to bring home to the family. Destiny was there again along with an employee named John. I remember John (and his colored hair!) from the year before when we talked to him about Haunted Mansion items that were going to be featured during last year's Halloween season. Come to find out he was a Bridgerton fan too! We all had a fun chat about the serious and they both went the extra mile to suggest similar items that we'd like and were also on sale. The point here is that Destiny and John are fine examples of the friendly, helpful employees that we've encountered year after year when we visited this location. Being that Santa Barbara is SUCH a tourist-heavy location, customer service and friendly employees are a MUST!! The location itself is located in a shady little walkway of shops and it's a fairly small location compared to others we've been to; however, their displays are designed to take advantage of every square foot. The result is a lot of products in a smaller location without seeming cluttered or confined. Their use of space here is impressive. My only complaint, and it might not be unique to this location, is their timing of rolling out products. I remember coming here one year ON HALLOWEEN hoping to find some cool spooky-themed products. When they opened their doors... NOPE! It was a winter wonderland of Christmas products with a few fall-related items here and there. I was like "Come on... really?!!" I remember the employees that year being apologetic but explaining that they were instructed to do that because all of their Christmas/winter stuff had come in early. It wasn't a deal breaker, but was a bit of a let-down. Again, this may be a corporate-wide phenomenon. Overall I would say this location is super convenient if you're in El Paseo Nuevo or strolling State Street nearby. The location IS smallish but the quality of what you'll find here is good. I would say a solid 4 to 4.5 stars (if Yelp would ever allow half-star reviews!), but the friendliness and service of such employees as Destiny and John make it stand out and, in this Elite Yelper's humble opinion, earns it the 5th star! read more

I always love the customer service at Bath & Body Works. Everyone is always so approachable and go above and beyond. I also love that the store always has classic favorite fragrances that everyone loves, but is good about putting out new fragrances to try. My absolute favorite are the seasonal items. While walking through Paseo Nuevo last weekend, I discovered a Bath & Body Works. Prominent signs announced their semi-annual sale, so I popped in. Other shoppers had the same idea, and it was fairly crowded. The store seemed a bit of a hodge-podge, with big bins of sale items for 50 or 75 percent off, but it was hard to find items which might be matching scents. There were fragrances I've never heard of before, mixed in with long term choices. Guess it's best to consider it a treasure hunt. I did score a metal snowman holder for lotion soaps for half off, which goes great in our guest bath. Added a few wintry scented liquid soaps, and fragrance mist. The total was less than I expected, which is always a great surprise. I could have spent more time browsing and bargain hunting. Something to consider before the sale wraps up. read more

I came in to browse on 8/19. Noticed they had a buy 3, get 3 free deal. Mix and Match. I chose my 3 full priced items and another 3 as free items. The lady working that day rang me up and told me the total came out to be $75. My jaw dropped and I spoke up. I asked her that something is wrong. That 3 full priced items does not total $75. And she proceeded to tell me that it's correct because the free items needed to be priced and it can't show $0. And that I must pay something for these "free items". And her logic is dumb bc if I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FREE ITEMS, they're no longer free. However, I know she meant prorated and the free items will need to be shown as a discount. But the total is still incorrect, regardless. She brought out her phone's calculator and started totaling everything up as if I'm incompetent. She said "your six items came out to $100 (and some change). Your total is $75, you have a $25 discount." I was still so confused. If it's really buy 3 get 3 for free then shouldn't it be 50%. Last I checked 100-50%= 50 and I highly doubt ya'll sales tax is 50%. I didn't purchase the items and she made me felt cheap and stupid in front of my daughter. I came home to do an online purchase of the same exact items (see video) and I was right!! She did something wrong and tried to make me feel stupid. And on top of that, I got a nice 20% off waiting a day. After purchasing the items online, I now feel cheated and scammed by the bath and body associate in this location bc I know... I'm not a frequent visitor of this store, but their candle display pulled me in. I'm telling you - their candle selection is OFF THE CHARTS right now! This isn't The Body Store which I much prefer. In addition, the power sale is in your face every five minutes and while at the check-out. I don't mind being reminded of a two for one discount if I'm only considering one, but this is beyond that. I felt as if they were hovering over us. They also gave us a paper with their new fragrance. My friend and I both agreed not only was it loud but smelled right out of the red light district. This represents the typical Paseo Nuevo experience which is why I only go to their theater and cinema unless a friend demands to shop there. Although I like their body creme, it's less superior than The Body Store. I've now searched for and found one at the Grand California at Disneyland. I order from their catalog which they are happy to do. read more

I had a terrible visit today. I came in to exchange a lotion unopened & unused for another lotion same exact price and the manager on the floor at the time (the guy who helped me) said that they cannot do that. And some other employee had to butt into our conversation and repeat what he said. Then they said we can only do if you call customer service. Why don't you just do it, instead if having me call customer service & come back. This upsets me, I shop at Bath&Body Works all the time. I normally am very happy with the staff at BnB but my daughter and I have had 2 horrible experiences with Joey. He was extremely rude and condescending to my daughter when she had a question about her total. Unfortunately I wasn't there with her that day, but today I experienced his rudeness. He had trouble validating a coupon I had and basically acted like it was my fault. He was dismissive and did not want to help me until I asked to speak to a manager. It was a simple fix that it took the manager 5 seconds to fix but his tone and demeanor were as if I was an imposition. He has definitely soured my wanting to shop there. read more

A friend gave me a tube of Signature Collection shea body cream. When I got toward the end of the tube and tried to press more out, the hard cap prevented me from getting any more. I ended up cutting the tube...there were several tablespoons more which I could use. What a waste. You would think Bath and Body Works could find a better way to package their products.
