I drove to SB to try out a restaurant on State street and decided to stop here on the way from Oxnard. I love that it's a 3 story store. It was very clean and organized. The Marshalls is great. Staff is not. 6/27/26 there was a girl putting away clothes in the baby section that blocked the entire isle from end to end so no one is allowed to go in. I'm 8 months pregnant and asked if it's okay if I could look at a baby item at the edge and she rolled her eyes and moved the cart that she intentionally placed for ppl not to disturb her. This is the second time I've had a bad experience with staff. The first time I had someone help me bring my bags to my car and I didn't realize they completely forgot two bags leading to $150 worth of merchandise that I was still charged for. This particular Marshall's location is a little different than most of the others in the chain. It's in an older building on State St. and it takes up three floors. There are stairs in the middle of the floor and there's also an elevator to use if you wish in the corner of the building. You can pick up some good bargains here, but for most of the items I do think they unfairy highly inflate the retail price shown on the tag to make you think you're getting a fantastic deal. You need to know your prices and avoid being fooled by this deceptive practice. read more

I came in search of some last minute Christmas gifts for my younger siblings. Wow! They have so many wonderful toys and gifts to choose from. I found a cool R2D2 with Star Wars socks inside! I was so excited, my little brother is obsessed with Star Wars. I went to pay and the cashier tried to scan it, come to find out...it has no barcode. The kind cashier assured me he'd go see if he could find another one with the barcode. I hadn't seen any other R2D2s with socks so I began wondering if I'd be able to purchase it. The cashier returns after a few minutes and said he found a similar item so he'll just scan that barcode. So glad, this employee was a problem solver and super helpful! It's our second visit to this store in Santa Barbara. It's a large store spread over a few floors and hence has a lot of inventory of goods and variety too, but the goods are left haphazardly all over. Takes time and effort to look for the stuff available. The variety is surely nice and I would like to keep coming back, however would like the place to be better spruced. This Marshall's gets 5 stars for the skincare section. 3 stars for everything else (food and home goods). The skincare/haircare section is out of this world with all types of face masks and serums and hair care products. You're gonna love it. The house stuff falls flat. Go to any other Marshall's and you'll see a better selection of home goods. See for yourself and compare. And the Italian nougats sold here are smaller for the price. But the selection is not good. The quality of the merchandise is definitely not the same. Don't think I'll be going back. Do you ever just go to this Marshall's and spend an hour smelling all the candles, squeezing all the fluffy pillows, and squeaking the dog toys in search for the dog you don't have but may maybe get? If going straight to the bottom floor and losing track of time is your style, we should be friends! If you have yet to visit this Marshalls, let me fill you in. It is a tri-level building located on State St that has a massive parking garage right behind it and tons of 75 minute street parking nearby. It is best for home decor, candles, pet items including toys, treats, beds, etc., journals and unique books, women's clothes and shoes, and hair and facial products. I wouldn't say this shop is incredible for men's clothes per say although they do have some great boxer prices and the occasional tie selection. I come here when I need some retail therapy but don't want to spend a ton of money. They have great prices, a pretty ever changing stock of goods, and nicely spaced out set up. The employees have always been pretty kind and they work hard to keep the line flowing. It is a well staffed store also in the sense that there is always someone to help when you need it. No complaints, all love. Will definitely be back for some candles and stocking stuffers soon! read more

This, my friend's, is the finest of all Marshall's I've been to. It's large marge with 2 floors, and a whole lot of inventory in both sku's and quantity. One key ingredient to a good shopping experience, it's not packed to the gored. What that means: you can avoid here the normal bump and grind and fighting over for the last item in your size. It's busier than heck, but you don't really feel it until you checkout. Tons of space and tons of aisles keeps all shoppers really spread out. Located right in the thick of things on State Street, parking can be a little tough. All in all, worthy for budget hunters. read more

The bathrooms are not out of order, we saw an employee come out of one after clearly hearing a toilet flush and a sinks being used, she then informed us that they are just not open to the public. It seems odd for the store to buy things from them under these conditions. read more

Honestly, I genuinely like this place a lot! Every now and then I'll find an amazing gem at such an incredible price!!! This last time I visited, I was looking for a yoga mat, since all 4 I ordered from Amazon were horrible I had to return them all, and lo and behold, I found a Manduka mat hidden at the bottom of the yoga mat bin! For those that don't know this brand, it's one of the top great quality mats for yogis that regularly go for $100 or more! Found this gem at Marshall's for $30 and could not believe it! You'll just have to spend some time browsing and I guarantee you'll find something so awesome at an incredible price!!! So yeah! Totally recommend!! read more

This Marshalls was so big and had many options, this store had like 4 floors and each floor was big , but as a person who doesn't work out , I had to climb every stairs to look for what I was looking for. and I was getting tired so easily. my legs hurt just by walking around in this Marshalls but I did my workout for that entire month. The employees really hype you to get to every floor!!!! but when I was checking out turns out most things did not have prices. also be careful when walking outside the store I stepped on a homeless poop, and he has the gut to start screaming at me! read more

I was hoping buying a cup of coffee from the bookstore, but to my shock and surprise Marshall's moved into the bookstore's location! So, I went inside Marshall's looking around the store. To date, this Marshall's location is the largest Marshall's in the State of California; there are four floors, including a basement level! Prices for all soft goods are lower than other Marshall's I have shopped previously. Surprisingly, this store sells more high-end furniture displayed throughout the first floor. Buying a designer dress for $25.00 here was awesome and buying a pair of designer glasses was below $15.00 left me feeling like I just robbed a couple of designers! Lol~ read more

However, it doesn't leave a lot of square footage for merchandise, at least on the main floor. I lucked in to selection of brightly colored floral print towels for the guest bath. Great style and colors for spring / summer. Fair prices. The selection of women's fashions didn't draw me in, so I only made a fast pass in that section. Checkout aisle is similar to other Marshalls. You wait your turn to be called to a cashier by entering a gauntlet of impulse items, ranging from electronic accessories for cell phones, to fashion accessories, small snack items, gift wrap & bows, exercise-themed items, hair care shampoos & conditioners, and more. True story-I walked in to this Marshalls to find a restroom but ended up being so impressed by their inventory and layout I ended up making a purchase. Located on the ever bustling State Street, this is a multi level store that's clean, well lit and organized. Restrooms were clean (they require a code to get in which a sales associate provided to me) and the fitting rooms were plenty tidy. The ladies section featured some well known brands as well as some unique boutique type items. I also did a spin through their home goods section-lots of cheerful spring decor with everything nicely displayed. Check out was a breeze, with enough registers open to move the line along. Definitely was an impulse stop but if you are in the market for some spring clothes or new work out outfits, this Marshalls currently has some great options. read more

Top floor is for kids, luggage, lingerie, purses, and accessories. Ground level is women's, jr's, and women's shoes. Downstairs is men's and home. I love Marshall's and shop there for many things and almost all of my stuff for my new home but was super disappointed by the cashier I had last time. Halfway through my checkout I was offered to join a loyalty program that would give me 10% off my purchase after agreeing and giving my information I received an email saying that I have a credit card added to my bank account when I went and looked there was a Marshall's credit card the cashier never mentioned anything about a credit card but a loyalty program I was super disappointed and annoyed that the cashier informed me wrong and not only that she was completely and utterly rude and had no idea what she was doing. I have spent 1000s in the TJMaxx stores...Home Goods, Burlington, Marshalls and Ross Dress for Less...always found great inventory. Love the bath products, the high end labels for women's clothing, the home decor. It's like being let loose in a candy store. However, the attitudes of employees can be disgruntled, somdtimes discourteous. They need to understand that customers pay threir wages and they deserve respect and good service not resentment as I experienced in my Santa Barbara store. A simple retraining adjustment is all that s needed. I am a Boston gal and that s where their corporate headqtrs are. If I could give zero stars I would. Bathrooms are ALWAYS "out of order". Normally, that does not bother me but today I had my two year old toddler and needed to change his diaper. The staff would not let me in because it was "out of order". I let her know I just needed to use a changing table. Another employee came and said there was no changing table in there. I said that is fine. I can stand him up and change him if I can just go in to get privacy. Then their story changed to "there are men working in there". I asked for the manger to be called and instead they call a young looking employee that states I can go outside to the public bathroom to change my sons diaper. Ended up leaving my cart and not buying anything. Very unprofessional to expect people to buy from them and not offer bathroom services. Worst customer service experience I have ever had! My Fiance and I were in the store last night and we found a chair that we liked so we sat in it. For about 30 seconds we were talking about the chair and how it would work in our house when a man popped up out of nowhere and proceeded to say to us: "Are you planning to buy those chairs?" we said "umm...maybe?" he said "why don't we just get all of our furniture out for you and make a nice comfortable space for you to hang out in?" (said EXTREMELY sarcastically) I couldn't believe what he said to us, I was completely stunned. I asked what his problem was because he was so aggressive and he said we dont like to sell used furniture to our customers. I cant explain in writing the demeaning, and degrading attitude he had. As if we were homeless people or kids jumping on their chairs. His name was Edmond and when I asked for a manager he said he was the manager, but turns out he is actually just the keyholder. I was so offended and he totally embarrassed me and my Fiance. I will never go into a Marshalls again! read more

I bought two pair of jeans here. Ten days later, I was back in the store trying to exchange one of them because, the day before, one of them ripped down the inseam on one leg when I dismounted from my bicycle. This was on the third time that I wore the jeans. I expected that, walking in with a receipt showing I'd bought the jeans ten days earlier and a pair of jeans with a rip from the crotch down to the knee would be sufficient proof that the jeans were defective. When I walked up to the cashier and explained what the problem was, he didn't even bother to tell me that the store's policy was that they wouldn't exchange them. He just said, "Hold on a second," and went and got the manager. The manager listened to my story, nodding sympathetically, agreed that that was abnormal for a pair of jeans, and asked to see the pants. He pointed at them and said, "What's this spot?" "Hot sauce," I told him. "I can't take these back," he told me. "You've worn them." "Yes," I said. "I bought defective jeans from you and I'm asking for my money back on the basis of the fact that you sold me a defective product. In order to discover that it's defective, I had to wear them." "Our policy is that if a customer has worn a product, we can't take it back," he told me. "OK," I told him. "I get it that that makes sense in some circumstances. You don't want to take back a piece of clothing that someone's worn because the fit was wrong when they got it home, or it doesn't go with the pants that they thought they'd wear it with, or they've changed their mind for some other reason. But this is different. You sold me a defective product, and I want my money back. I'm asking you to stand behind the products you sell." "Oh, we stand behind the products we sell," he told me. "Great," I said. "How do you plan to do that, exactly?" He just stared at the floor and mumbled something that was unintelligible from across the counter. "Well, will you at least exchange them for a pair that doesn't have a rip in the crotch that you can stick your head through?" "Sorry, we can't do that," he told me. "The store would lose money if we took back the pants." "So you'd prefer that /I/ lost money, then? When I shop at Marshalls, I should be prepared to waste money on defective merchandise? Shouldn't YOU take these back and get the money back from the distributor who sold YOU the defective pants?" His response was to repeat that Marshalls "stands behind the products we sell," although he wasn't able to explain exactly what that meant in the context of my particular problem. He soon suggested that maybe the pants had ripped because I was dismounting from my bicycle, and that this might be "a more stressful activity then the pants were designed for," totally ignoring the fact that they're made out of fucking denim rather than, say, silk or paper. I told him that (a) the pants are not tight on me; (b) I don't think that dismounting from a bicycle is a particularly stressful activity, since I work on a college campus and see literally dozens of people dismount from bicycles every day, none of whom rip their pants in doing so, and (c) if the pants require that I do nothing more "stressful" than shuffle around with my legs pressed together, then there should be a label indicating that the pants need extra-special care on them when I buy them. We went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth for about twenty-five minutes, until the manager noticed that other customers were listening in on the conversation and abandoning their purchases. He finally decided to give me my money back because the conversation itself was warning people that Marshalls won't exchange defective merchandise. He finally gave me my money back because I made it clear that I wasn't going to leave until he did so, and giving me back the twenty-odd dollars for the jeans would result in less of a loss for the store than continuing to lose sales from other customers. I'm disappointed that (a) the store sold me defective clothing in the first place (although I realize that no company produces 100% non-defective products); (b) this long argument was necessary in order to get my money back; (c) the employees are apparently so used to this situation that they don't even bother to discuss it with customers, but just go get the manager immediately. Four days later, I pulled the other pair of jeans that I'd bought at the same time out of the dryer and noticed that the stitching holding the zipper to the fabric of the crotch had come unraveled while washing. Doubtless from the store's perspective this is my fault, given that I washed them, and their policy is apparently CAVEAT FUCKING EMPTOR. I didn't bother to try to exchange them. After all, the previous exchange not only took a half-hour of my time, but resulted in my no longer having the receipt for the transaction. I don't think I'll be shopping here again. read more

I was told I could return something that I was given as a gift and didn't have a receipt for. So knowing that I used my lunch break to grab that item and return it for an exchange for store credit. But instead I got a different gal who told me that she couldn't exchange them because they didn't sell those jeans...When they had the marshalls tag still on them... right in front of her. Incredibly unhelpful. I will never return because of this lack of customer service. I purchased a $80 suitcase 2 months ago at this location. Both zippers broke off after 2 trips. I went in today to ask if they can replace it or can send me somewhere to help. The manager who loves her job in customer service told me If you owned a business would you take back used items and then proceed to roll her eyes and say have a great day. First off, making a customer feel like shit in front of people is great customer service, right? What do I know. I've worked in retail for years and number 1 thing is you never talk to people like that. I don't mind buying a new case elsewhere and eating the $80. This place is trash! First off, I had Marshall's confused with the Chicago dept. store "Marshall Fields", which is like confusing prime rib with dogshit, but still......I went to Spectrum gym to work out, had forgotten my workout shorts, ran over to Marshall's, got some bike shorts for $10 ran back to the gym and had my workout. Great! It's like having a dumpier Ross downtown. Great! Although a Marshall's situated in high-rent "ritzy" Downtown is like a big boil on a model's face, still, in this shit economy, cheap clothes are always welcome. read more
