I just received a visit from one of the sales personal of Bath Planet. I found him to be loud rude and too pushy. I walked out of the meeting due to his rude behavior. I shall not be doing business with this company. NOTE TO BATH PLANET the best way to lose a sale is to have your sales people talk politics, and talk about politics loudly. We reserved our gut remodel for our master bathroom with Randy Marshalek in late October 2022. The October 22, 2022 work order noted that this was a "Rush Job - Heavy Mold." The contract we signed for financing on October 24, 2022 mentioned a "full bathroom gut, new shower, floors." The work order noted all of the fixtures in the bathroom would be replaced, all of which we would purchase separately except for the shower. The work was scheduled to begin November 30 to December 1 and take 3 days. Until then, my family of 4 plus my two visiting parents had to share one bathroom while waiting to avoid adding more wetness to the master shower. Also, I have some serious health issues that were going to require me to use a separate bathroom so it was imperative that the remodel start and end on time. I was very disappointed and disgusted when BathPlanet called the day of the install to say that BathPlanet did not have ANY of my bathroom fixtures for the shower so they had to postpone my gut remodel another 2 weeks. That was more time I had to keep my other bathroom fixtures in the downstairs foyer, and more time sharing the bathroom. Once the shower pieces came in the work started. The guys who did the work were polite, but they definitely did NOT adhere to the "measure twice, cut once" adage of home improvement. However, we did encounter many issues during the installation, due to poor planning and a seat-of-the-pants, wing-it type of philosophy of installation. For example, the ceiling tray for the shower was not the right dimensions but that wasn't determined before a nice chunk of my ceiling drywall was cut out. Since the ceiling tray wouldn't work, I asked them to replace the drywall and they did, but the section doesn't match the rest of the ceiling. My ceiling is cream with a swirl pattern, and the missing/replaced chunk is white and smooth. That's more work for us. I asked them to remove the existing medicine cabinet and fill the hole from it. They filled it with drywall but taped the perimeter, and you can still see the green backing to the drywall. The section of wall is not smooth and is unfinished which is more work I have to get corrected. It's a messy looking closure of the spot. As for the two medicine cabinets for our double sink, there was definitely no prior planning before they took a saw to my wall. It's clear that they didn't use a pipe finder before cutting into the wall because they ran into a huge pipe behind the second medicine cabinet's hole. Oops! They said they could reroute the pipe, but I was losing confidence so I said no, just surface mount the medicine cabinets instead because they'd already attached the vanity to the wall and cut the pipe area. I didn't want new problems trying to get them to reposition the pipe, reposition the vanity, and move the medicine cabinets. Later on, I asked Randy Marshalek, our salesman, how much it would cost for them to fix the sloppiness and paint. Even though we were already paying $32,000 for the remodel, he quoted us $1800 to fix the messes they made of the walls and paint. I was appalled and said we'd paint ourselves. I was so done with them, but we still needed to have the rest of the bathroom's larger fixtures completed. This was insulting and a further disappointment considering the price of the gut remodel. The freestanding bathtub had a crack in it so I had to order a replacement. It was installed with an additional drain trap even though the tub came with a trap so I wasn't able to use it when I first tried because it wouldn't drain. Don't you think they should have tested the draining BEFORE saying it was fit to use? At any rate, the tub had to be uninstalled and reinstalled and we had to wait again for the adhesive to cure. That added to the time we couldn't bathe or shower in the bathroom. I'm glad we elected to leave the shower bench out because they ordered the wrong one and we would have had to wait for it to come. The shower looked nice when installed and worked well when we finally could use it after the glass was installed January 19, 2023 and cured until January 20, 2023. The half wall they made is a light brown, a different color than the gray shower. So that's another issue that is unfixable. Also, the grout behind the sink in the double vanity is peeling ALREADY so that's yet another thing we have to get fixed. All in all, this was an ordeal that took 3 months, between the initial wait time and the delays, NOT a three-day task. To be charged $32,000 plus I had to separately buy the vanity, lights, bathtub and toilet for this remodel at $3200 is disappointing and not a value-add to my home. A gut remodel means you replace everything and make it all nicer, better and more valuable. That doesn't mean you leave things like it was slap-dashed together and hastily done without an eye to the finishing and leaving it better than you found it. BathPlant (BP) - 14 July @ 1700 with Randy Marshalek As a construction project manager (PM), I requested an abbreviated home inspection. Due to my experience, I was assigned Randy Marshalek (GM). Randy arrived on time and we started off with quick discussion. I reminded him of my PM experience. Randy measured the area quickly and started his briefing. Randy specifically showed me that BP received (15) 5-star BBB ratings. The problem is that this BP is not listed in BBB. See-Thru Windows, their parent company, is listed (https://www.bbb.org/us/md/waldorf/profile/window-installation/see-thru-windows-llc-0241-23000919) with 12 ratings at 4.42. Is this fraud or at least false advertising? Without interrupting, I let Randy talk about how MOLD (1st time) will impact homes and that his product eliminates this issue. Randy then discussed of how MOLD (2nd time) base tile install impacts the home. Randy pulled out photo album and show MOLD (3rd time) pictures. I just informed Randy that I don't need to see the pictures, but he left open the photo album with some very bad MOLD issues. The first three times Randy talked about MOLD, I didn't interrupt and just friend reminded him that as a construction PM that I am familiar with MOLD. Randy eventually put the photo album away and brought up another discussion on how bad the lack of proper tile installation would cause bad MOLD (4th time). I've had enough be lectured and asked him to leave. Instead of being apologetic, Randy became confrontational and argued more and more. 30 seconds of arguing in my kitchen, I had to throw Randy out. I've NEVER been treated this bad from a vendor and I've hired several dozen vendors. I caution you with their heavy-handed approach to getting business. Good luck! Worst company ever! I do not recommend it at all. Sales guy came to the house, very friendly and knowledgeable. We paid 80% or so upfront for the project and signed the contract. We were supposed to get the contract emailed to us. We never received it. 4 weeks later, a tech arrived to verify measurements. We did not hear anything from the company for over 10 weeks. I called and only got a voice mail. Called the following day. Voice mail. Called a different office and got transferred several times. Finally, I got a representative who was sarcastic. I told her I wanted the sales representative to call and asked for his phone number. They refused to give me his number. He never called either. I left my email address again for a copy of the contract. After a few more calls and days, I finally got a hold of the project manager and asked about the contract copy. She asked me if my email address was, and I told her again. She told me my email address had been sitting on her desk, and she didn't know wo it was for or why. She emailed it to me. The bathroom was scheduled for an installation of 4 weeks later. The time from the initial sales appointment to install was 13 weeks. The instal guys gave us our final bill, which was WRONG. It stated we had only paid for 50% of the project. I showed the instal guy a copy if the credit card charge that showed the 80% payment. I paid the final amount only. They did a nice job. Instal guys were great. They were contractors for the company. I never received a follow-up phone call or email asking if we were satisfied. Terrible company. Go anywhere else. read more

Total disaster sales pitch that reminded me of Uncle Rico and Kip selling Tupperware on Napoleon Dynamite! They also produced the ridiculous bat and beat on the acrylic panel. They then produced some cleaning detergent that they slashed on my Hooker table, ruining the finish! I walked away and left my husband dealing with Dumb and Dumber and they left giving us a quote for over 10K to replace a soaker tub! Seriously W.T.A.F! I read many of the negative reviews about the company after I agreed to a shower stall replacement with Randy Marshalek, and perhaps if I read them before, I might not have contracted with them. That would have been a mistake. I obtained quotes from two other bathroom re-modelers and all of them use the used car salesman, high pressure approach to selling. Being used to that buying cars, it didn't bother me. Bath Planet provided the best quote, albeit not the cheapest but with the most improvement and features added to our shower stall. They scheduled an installation for one day, except for the custom door, and performed as advertised. The quality of work is first class, the installers were neat and cleaned up after the install so other than the new stall area, you couldn't tell they'd been there. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were one or two glitches after the install. The door was supposed to take 4-10 days to be manufactured to the custom size. Somehow, the dimensions got lost at Bath Planet, requiring re-measurement and therefore the door took more like 18 days to be installed. Despite that it's a superior door to anything others quoted for the price. Lastly, the diverter felt loose and not having the right tool to correct it myself, they came out promptly and corrected it. I am very pleased with their work and their customer service, overseen by Randy, was very responsive and customer oriented. read more

TL:DR Expensive product looks nice but is hard to keep clean; Installers had to come back multiple times to fix leaks and I had to get 2nd contractor to finally find/fix problem; they made me feel bad. Small main bathroom on 3rd floor of 50 year old townhouse had years-long problem with bathtub/shower combo leaking. Had to replace whole thing. Contract signed in December 2022 with See Thru Windows. Initially wanted whole bathroom done, but was quoted ~$24K. Settled on just new shower/soaker tub combo with full plumbing replacement for $13K, financed through company. Install 1st week of February 2023. Installer seemed taken aback by extent of damage/repair needed: even though we had discussed with salesman that we knew we would need new subfloor under tub, this was apparently not communicated. Difficult install went into the late evening but looked great, even though we were left with a cut line through the floor tile (and prior cracks in floor tile by front of tub). 48 hours for everything to cure and we were excited to have first shower and tub soak. Still leaked. 1st callback cut hole in drywall to see new plumbing and added silicone sealant around/behind the shower valve. 2nd callback tub spout was leaking and they pulled it off, added silicone sealant and put it back on, now with about a 10 degree tilt off center. 3rd callback they asked me to run shower for an hour before arriving, but still couldn't find the leak even though obvious water dripping into bucket on counter below. They just silicone everything they can find behind the wall. Still leaked. Told they needed to come back with project supervisor. Waited more than a week, then called the office to ask about scheduling. Coordinator initially told me they determined that the problem was on my end and there was nothing they could do. After discussion she tells me she confused me with another client. Morning of supervisory visit, I take hour long shower/bath before arrival to duplicate use conditions. Installer and assistant arrive about 45 minutes before supervisor, and spend time trying to find leak. When supervisor arrives the shower head is spraying water onto the ceiling, which it HAD NOT been doing prior, and they immediately begin to try and tell me that leak is because of shower head and/or us not using shower doors properly. I am very frustrated at this point and say "then take the f@#$!)# shower head off". Supervisor immediately gets red and angry and in my personal space and lectures me on not using curse words and, frankly, scared me. At this point it is clear that they are no longer interested in finding the problem, just in blaming us. There is a big production of showing me the hole in the floor where water is coming through to the kitchen. They tell me that they are sure that the leak is because we are dripping water on the floor and it will stop when I fix the floor, which they will not do [I had asked installer if they could give me quote prior and supervisor pointedly said they would not take any side jobs and were too busy to do any other work]. I was totally shut down and sitting on my sofa crying in frustration when they left. Supervisor gave me his phone number and told me to contact him if still a problem after we fixed the floor. Eventually had to get different contractor in to fix floor [and repair the hole they put in the drywall to look for leak]. To no one's surprise, fixing the floor DID NOT STOP THE LEAK. There was no silicone sealant/caulk along the bottom inside rails of the shower door where bottom meets side. Fixing the floor made it easier to trace leak back to source, because water was pooling and not immediately going through ceiling, but problem was still with lack of sealant on install. Do I like the product? Yes? But bad experience that cost me significant time off work, significant additional expense in hiring a different contractor to repair damage to walls and fix the floor earlier than planned/budgeted, and every time I look at the mis-aligned tub spout now I want to stab someone. To their credit, they did come back multiple times to try and solve the issues. But the issues were also caused by their installation. We've had this shower/tub combo for ~3 months now. I do like the soaker tub, surround and shower door. But the caulk/sealant used in the joints is already starting to yellow a bit and the tub is hard to clean. We have 4 adults using this, and there is a definite ring that builds up very fast. There are limited products you can use to clean the material, and thus far I have not found an approved one that easily cleans this tub ring without serious elbow grease. I used to be able to deep clean tub 1x a week, but now need to do it at least every other day. It is not possible for me to write a positive recommendation. This product is expensive, install was a nightmare, and I am not sure it will stay in good condition for "life". read more

We had the great luck during the time of the coronavirus to have a leaking shower so we called them because they are capable of remodeling in 1 day. The twins showed up and they were very polite until I asked them to not do a long presentation. The first time, they ignored it. The second time they ignored it again saying it's only an hour long. I asked them repeatedly to present samples- it was like they were robots unable to go off script. Then they called me rude when I asked them to leave. We have underlying conditions in our house. I specifically asked them to take PPE and to understand that we are going to get this done immediately and with as little time face to face. Eric, who was on the phone and scheduled the appointment, seemed to understand this, but the twins bulldozed a sale because they didn't want to get samples out before showing us how great a company they are via BBB. Funny how they didn't produce their yelp reviews. This just goes to show you that the Yelp reviews can be illuminating. Side note: it takes them six weeks for a repair- 3 weeks lead time and 3 weeks to schedule you in. So if you need a remodel immediately go with someone else. read more

I just read a review from April that could have been my experience - sure wish I'd taken the time to come here to Yelp before calling them and having them come out. Bath Planet is clearly operated by COVID deniers - the sales rep's mask kept slipping down off his nose and it took three tries on my part to get him to pinch the nose brace to keep it up. He wanted to sit around our small table (less than 6' apart) to discuss how great the company was and every little detail of the materials they use, when we kept asking him to keep it short and just come look at the bathroom to see what the job actually was, to minimize the time we were all in the same room talking. (It's one thing to have service people working in one room of your house, with PPE, while you're in another, but to talk for an hour or 90 min about mostly non-essentials in one room w a guy whose mask keeps slipping is something else entirely.) It was rather surreal, really - he kept making small talk and jokes and talking about how great Bath Planet was, despite us asking multiple times for him to get to the point. In the end, just as the review in April described, the rep called me hypocritical (for interrupting him when I had asked him to stop interrupting me) and rude - literally said, "We don't need your business, you know" and we replied, "Well, great then! Cuz you're not getting it!" - and we told him to get out. When I called the company to express our concerns with this encounter, the manager said several things that explained very well where this sales guy's attitude came from! When we suggested that a lot of the sales pitch could be done over Zoom (so the in-house visit could be briefer), the manager said, "That's not our business model." I replied that his model needed some flexibility to accommodate the pandemic - that's when he laughed and said he had had many times his normal rate of business over the past few months, which is why I think he's a COVID denier. Doesn't care about the risk - all he sees is the profits. So my advice? Don't touch this company if you hate the hard sales pitch and prefer flexibility and common sense during difficult times. I don't actually doubt they do a good job - they take such pride in the company - but they have a very arrogant view of customer service and no respect for the trust you place in a service company when they are in your home. read more

A sales manager came out yesterday (4-18-2019) to give a sales pitch on a walk in tub. The sales person requested I keep an open mind. I explained I needed a soaker (non jet) walk in tub and new bathroom door. The manager showed photos of mold on old bathroom installs and provided a tub brochure. He went on with information about the tub and the tub was approved by Good Housekeeping. About an hour into the sales presentation he showed the acrylic panel and hit it with a bat to show the quality of the acrylic panels. I advised the manager that I would not make a decision on their company until I met with all six vendors. I would not sign a contract today. I would make a decision based on the company, the product and price. Again I was reminded to keep an open mind. He got upset, took the brochure back and said he would not return to my home even if I paid the full year price quoted. He wanted the sale today or there be no sale. He never talked about a soaker tub only the water jet model for over $18,000. He would not allow me to take a photograph of the sales offer. I told him I was also looking at window purchase but with his attitude I would not consider his company for the tub or windows. I do not understand how the company stays in business. I saw a similar complaint on this company. I did not see it until I researched the company on yelp today. There was no sale made today. read more

i have never delt with a company as rediculous as Bath planet. they cant get their act together. you cant speak to a supervisor. they dont keep promises as to when install will be done. i personally will not only refuse to give this company a good rating but will tell everyone i know not to use your company. you have done everything but what you were paid for. your concerns for customers is lacking in all aspects. read more

When I said I needed to think about it the rep was visibly angry and hostile and yanked the offer off of the table. Similar complaints that others had. Wanted to get an estimate on door replacements. Estimate was about 2.5 hours. The free estimate that was good for a year, turned into a hard sales pitch. Price kept dropping, but I had other estimates to get and was not going to make a decision and give an answer that day. The project manager got mad and said if I just wanted to say no, then just say no. I was saying that I wasn't giving an answer that day due to other estimates, research of the company and product, and I always sleep on decisions. Well, I'm saying no, not because of quality of products or cost, but because the project manager was so rude and the high pressure sales pitch. Poor tactics. read more

High pressure sales pitch that lasted almost 2 hours. Salesman wouldn't take no for an answer. They inflate the price and then act like they are giving you such a bargain when they are not. This is just like a car salesman. It's very off-putting and makes you not want to do business with a company like this. Can't speak for the quality of the bath product, but was completely turned off by the high pressure sales pitch. My advice? Avoid these guys! We were recently shopping around for someone who could remove an old tub and fiberglass surround, and put new, better looking ones in. (We're on a budget here, so not doing a full bathroom remodel. The existing toilet is fine, as is the ceramic tile flooring, The sink? Eh... could be upgraded but that's not necessary.) Made the mistake of scheduling a "consultation" with these Bath Planet folks, only to receive the classic "hard sell". (They refused to even talk to me until my wife was also present, which should have been a red flag from the get-go, I suppose.) Spent over 2 hours listening to their sales pitch which included videos on the salesman's iPad and asking us to hit some of the acrylic sample material with a small hammer, to try to prove how scratch-resistant it is. He refused to even discuss cost until the very end, instructing us to "just pick out your dream bathroom configuration first -- because you can always delete things later". Also made a big deal out of all the "dangerous mold" we had behind the existing surround, implying we really HAD to get something done with it ASAP for health reasons. (The only evidence of mold is a bit of black mold you see right where the tub and the surround meet. I'm told that's very common with these fiberglass surrounds and it's often not a sign that there's really any mold behind the rest of the wall when one is torn down. In any case, it's not even the black mold that's the dangerous type.) At the very end? He came up with price quote around $14,000 to do the job! $14K to demo and replace a tub and surround!! (Of course, they try to mask the reality of that high price by offering you financing plans and talking only about the monthly costs.) The frustrating part is, they really do seem to offer a product that looks really nice. The BCI acrylic surrounds sold by the Bath Planet franchise appear to be some of the better ones on the market. And they pair them up with quality Kohler fixtures that compliment them well. That's really the ONLY reason we remained patient with our salesperson through the whole ordeal. The photos of installed products and the samples we sifted through were perfectly fine. But ultimately, we had to cancel on going with this one ... and now they're STILL calling us, trying to get our business doing other work because we briefly mentioned having those other project plans (in part of the effort to explain our need to stick to a budget on THIS project!). read more

Too bad I can't give zero or negative stars. I think this is the office i was dealing with. I scheduled an appointment with BP during the DC Capital Home Show. I ended up having to reschedule the original appointment. The day of the appointment (Fri. evening), I had to leave work early in order to be home in time. I got home (the appt. was for around 6pm) and around 5:30p I received a call that the person that was coming was delayed about 30-45min at their previous appointment, and if the appt. could be pushed back a bit. I said okay. Around 6:30 I received a call the person was stuck in traffic and was 7:30p okay. i said fine. By 9pm the person still hadn't shown up. I called the next morning to complain and was told that they would speak to the individual. They called back and said they'd told the person that was supposed to come that not showing up without calling was unacceptable. I agreed to reschedule fo the following Sat. afternoon. The person still didn't show up, but this time with no notice. I called to leave a message to tell them to forget it. They called me at work the following Monday to plead (beg) me to give them another chance, and this time they'd send a manager. I relented thinking I'd at least get another estimate to guage te other 2 I already had. Turns out the 'manager' that showed up was the same person that didn't show up the prior 2 times and he wouldn't even give me a written estimate. I'm sorry but if the manager can't even bother showing up then I have no faith that they'd do so with a contracted job or even complete the work if I considered going forward with them...which i wouldn't. read more

Stay away from this company. They did not install what I ordered. They gave me cheap stainless steel fixtures instead of brushed nickel and tried to slick me by leaving it off the paperwork. Both of the bathroom floors they replaced need to be pulled up and done right. They charged be to spray mold and mildew inhibitor behind the new unit when they pulled the old one out but did not do it. There are places in the caulking that do not seal where water can get behind new unit. I have been trying to get them back out here for three months to no avail to finish the job right. They charged me 11K for a 7-8K job. They use high pressure sales tactics and lie about their BBB A+ rating. The salesman stayed for around three hours and it was supposed to be an hour estimate (at the most). Would no take no for an answer and then called his supervisor for him to talk to me to negotiate the price. Whenever a salesman gives you an original estimate of 15K and comes down to 10K tell them to get out of your house. I have been trying to get someone back out here for 3 1/2 months and have been more than patient with them to get it right.
