I came here with my mom on my first visit 20 minutes before closing time. Since we knew our time here was limited, we asked for help for very specific areas of the store, and we were each guided to the sections we wanted. Besides hardcover books, there are several sections with softcover books including (but not limited to) mysteries and current fiction. There are also chairs in various locations (at least upstairs). Some sections also have better magazines (for example, the cookbook section has a selection of "Gourmet" magazines). This is a great place for a bibliophile to get lost for a few hours. I intend to do just that next time I'm here.

This is your best indicator that they're open. Otherwise you might not notice this hidden gem because it's upstairs in an office building. But as soon as you make it through the door, you won't regret having come! It's clear to see that these guys have a good time with their shop. There are labels for sections and parts of the store that could only grow out of fondness, like "The Cave" for the small little room that sits next to the check-out desk, where the psychology and sci-fi books are housed. Love the combo. Or "The Treasure Chest" for overflow books, so varied and ever changing, that you never know what you might find. They have an ever-changing new arrivals section, displaying some of the more popular current novels, which is a great place to look for recommendations. They also have a great children's section, with old readers from quite a while back. Their foreign language section is pretty limited, but that's the case with most bookstores. There were some beautiful old books in German last time I was there. They have a great new england and Vermont section, though I can't admit to having browsed it very thoroughly. Amazingly, they also order books for you if they don't have something. A very kind service. It's worth a visit to this wonderful used bookstore. It's surprisingly large, and full of a huge variety of books.

We ended up purchasing 3 books, with one dated back to the 1850s for a great price. I love the history of this bookstore and its purpose. It was founded by a courier who lived modestly and loved books. He collected books to preserve history, with books from all around the world.

I was amazed by the large layout and selection while browsing. The display areas are engaging and have you stopping to look every few feet. I found books for myself, as well as a Father's Day gift for my husband thanks to a specific display they had with Father's Day ideas. I loved the vinyl section, the horror selection, and the large graphic novel area. They also had some unique art books on display that I had not seen anywhere else. At one point I was looking for a specific title and the employee was able to help me find it. When checking out I learned they had been here for 13 years and the first shop is located in Manchester, Vermont. I was given a 10% off coupon and told about their online shop. I love supporting indie bookstores and spent a good 30 minutes shopping around. Very happy with my purchase. This is a bookstore you won't want to miss!

We wanted to support the business that supports authors like JR Ward. We especially wanted to support them after they were affected by the flood last year. This place is super cute. They had a lot of different style books. They also carried vinyl which I thought was great. I would've actually purchased a few of them, but the drive from Saratoga to Connecticut would've worried me with vinyl in the car. The folks at the bookstore were very helpful and very friendly. The books were awesome reasonably priced.

Given they do not have a huge space, I think they had a smattering of books across various genres. The reading "corners" didn't look particularly inviting to me. Maybe that's coz I went on a very busy rainy summer Saturday afternoon. Also maybe coz I'd just been to the Shaker Mill bookstore in the morning and thought I could spend an entire afternoon (or a weekend!) wandering through the store and perusing their offerings. They have a section of used books for a lower price along with a cafe. They even sell records. They also have a cafe. I did not get a chance to visit it since I was happily overwhelmed by all the books. The third floor has the children's section which has colorful decorations, as well as cards, trinkets, journals, and vinyls for sale. Northshire has friendly employees who were very helpful. I am pleased to report they have a large used book section on the second floor. I will definitely be visiting this charming place more often!
