Really, really disappointing. Cupcake weren't decorated as promised, the flavors were wrong and the taste of the icing was as if it was synthetic. We ordered 30 black and white cupcakes: vanilla and chocolate. Vanilla cake with chocolate icing and chocolate cake with vanilla icing. The icing was supposed to be a smooth topping over the cupcake with a pretty little flower in the opposite color. They did NOT ice the top of the cupcake as promised (or as they showed us in their sample book) and instead put a huge, glob-like flower on top that was quite amorphous. Additionally, the black icing that was supposed to be chocolate WASN"T even chocolate. It tasted like vanilla with some sort of synthetic, chemical tasting dye to make it dark. Sadly, this is my 2nd customer order with Batter N' Icing and my 2nd disappointment. After the first they apologized and admitted their error. I wanted to give them a 2nd chance but that was my mistake. Next time I'll go with the tried and true that never disappoints: Nothing Bundt Cakes or Susie Cakes. read more

I'm taking a star off because this is one of those places that tells you to 'just answer a question' before using your card to pay. I find it unseemly when non restaurants or bars outright solicit tips. Fine to have option to add a tip to a specific employee if something was truly exceptional but putting the customer in the position of having to outright decline to tip is a huge turnoff. read more

If I could give Batter 'N Icing more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Not only have they become my favorite go-to for cupcakes, but I was referred to the company to help with my wedding cake. From the initial inquiry email all the way to the final drop off at the vendor, Nisha went gone above and beyond to ensure that my cake and dessert bar was perfect and she delivered everything in a timely manner. Honestly, it was more than what I could ask for. She was so easy to talk to, both email and in person. She treats all her customers as equals, not like some vendors where the moment you say "wedding" and the vendor charge 3x more. She was very transparent about her pricing and there were no hidden fees which I appreciated. Her ability to turn your vision into reality is something else, and I loved how we were able to bounce ideas off one another. Everyone LOVED the cake and desserts. So much, that I didn't even get to have any of my desserts because everyone else ate them all!! The cake was so moist and the cupcakes were a huge hit with the choice of flavors (I was told that the peach cobbler was a favorite!). Now that the wedding is over, I still come to the Pleasant Hill location to enjoy a cupcake or two because there's no doubt that Nisha and her team do a fantastic job. So glad that we stumbled upon this place! Apparently they opened up yesterday and have another location in Danville. They had a great looking array of cupcakes and I chose the Boston Cream Pie cupcake and the Chocolate Creme. Both were divine! Super moist and fluffy cupcake and the icing was perfect. The Boston Cream Pie definitely tasted like a Boston Cream Pie with the cream in the middle and the chocolate cream was like a hoho or dingdong. I would 10000% come back again!!! The staff was super friendly as well and very knowledgeable of the cupcakes. The cookie cake is much smaller than expected, maybe half the size of Mrs. Fields. It is a bit thicker though, but drier and not near as good as Mrs. Fields. No one really enjoyed the cookie cake, lots of left on plates. We also bought cupcakes that were pricey (4.50) but nothing special and decorated in a simple manner. We ordered red velvet, cookies and cream, vanilla with rainbow sprinkles, "hostess", lemon, and gluten free coconut raspberry. When you buy 5 you get 1 free! Overall the cupcakes were good. Light and airy cake, rich frosting, but a couple were a miss for me. The lemon cupcake wasn't lemony at all. It's a vanilla base with a smidge of lemon filling. The frosting didn't taste like lemon either, so that was disappointing for someone who loves lemon; expected more from something that looked so pretty. The gluten free cupcake texture was a bit dry and flavor was lacking as well. I will come back to try other flavors. They have daily specials too. read more

So it's now my 8th cupcake here. Over the course of about 2-3months... So yeah, they're that good. I love that they have so many specials every month and that I can check the menu online so that I can plan which day I'm coming to the shop. Most of them were very good to exceptional. The chocolate PB (a classic) was above any Pb cupcake I've ever had. The caramel cheesecake and white chocolate peppermint (specials) were insanely good. My least favorite was the pistachio (special in January), and that was a let down (sorry!) cuz I love love love pistachio. I thought both the cake but especially the frosting were very chemical tasting. Because of my great previous experiences , I didn't let this dissuade me to go back. For the February month, strawberry Nutella and the baklava (so original and well executed) have been the bomb. As I've said before. $4.80 , and that's on the higher end, but they're very fresh (I've sometimes eaten a cupcake 2days after I bought it and it was still delicious) and they do not skimp on the ingredients (hate places that give you a tiny lick of frosting). Service is pleasant. Shop is cute. I now definitely have my punchcard :) I'm looking forward to discovering the Match flavors, and the April flavors, etc. read more
