Went there 8/04, with my husband. The staff was friendly. The ambiance was inviting. The desserts are very tasty. There's so much you can get there. I felt like a little girl at a candy store. Definitely want to return, and note I live in Modesto, Ca.

    Chocolate Chip w/ Walnut

Came here after a late breakfast at The Breakfast Club. First off, Sarah was AMAZING! She has such a lovely smile and she recommended the chocolate chip with walnut cookie. Let me just say, I'm not a huge fan of walnuts especially in cookies but I will eat them. I broke off a piece and fell in love. I shared a piece with my sister and niece and let me just say when we were backing out of our park, I somehow ended up back inside purchasing 2 more of those cookies and my niece requested the regular chocolate chip which she loved and my sister got a brownie that was ridiculously delicious. The brownie itself was very good and the frosting on top was similar to a mouse. Let me just say, it totally all worked and came together for a beautiful brownie. Great service, Great treats, of course I'll be back. Thank you Sarah

Our favorite cinnamon toast is from this bakery. We also have gotten birthday cakes and cupcakes - their mini cupcakes are great. The carrot cake was moist and fresh. The cinnamon loaf can be sliced thin or thick. So addicting, we have to limit how often we get this. Pro tip: pay cash if you don't want to pay the card surcharge. Even if you use a debit card there's a surcharge. Order the mini cupcakes ahead of time if you need them custom and want to make sure they have them. There's a whole seating area in the back now which is really nice. Don't sleep on this bakery.

I'm have been coming here for over 15 years for this bread. Best bread for French toast! And so many other fun sweet treats and more here as well.

I ordered a half salami sandwich. Nothing spectacular it was just a regular sandwich. I also ordered this cake and on display it looked great. This cake is dry, flavor is mid and did I mention dry? So disappointing! $26 for this ? I would not recommend.

Absolutely fabulous. This place was a great find. The assortment of pastries, cakes, and condiments were fantastic. I was able to try out the maple scone, carrot cake, and cream puff. Service was excellent too. The staff were friendly and helpful. This place had a nice ambiance and a nice assortment of condiments was very welcoming.

Ask the Community - A Sweet Affair Bakery

When is the best time to check for day old bakery goods?

Best time for day old bakery items would be in the morning at open, but some days there is a lot left over and some days there is next to nothing

Do they offer gluten free bread for the sandwiches?

They do not offer gluten free bread

Is there still an email address that I can contact to get a quote for a cake?

No email address available. All custom cake orders must be done over the phone or in person and they provide quotes based on serving size and decoration needed.

Do they take phone orders for cakes? Nobody has answered the phone.

They do still take phone orders but cannot answer the phone while it is busy, so best to call in the morning or come in person. They also have online ordering 48 hours an advance notice for simple cakes with writing, custom cakes must be done in…

Are they still open? I called and left a message on Tuesday and haven't heard back. I'd like to put in a catering order.

    They are open for sure

Do you offer cupcakes for dogs?

No we do not. Your welcome to purchase them and feed them to your dogs. Keep noted they aren't made for dogs.

Receiving a texted coupon for 15% off my order, I was excited to use it since I needed a birthday cake. Though there was an online code, I could not use the discount online. I called the shop several times, but there was no answer, and I even left a voice message but never heard a call back. Finally I noticed there was number on the website to text so I did, and got a response. The response was that it was too late to order the cake, and the coupon couldn't be used online ordering system because the online ordering system was different from what was used in the store. BUT I was told I can still call my order in and pay in advance over the phone to get the 15% discount if I still wanted cupcakes, and if the store didn't answer, the person sending the text said he/she would contact the store. I appreciated that kind gesture. The next morning, I settled for cupcakes and decided to call the order in and pick up the cupcakes in the afternoon since I had no time that morning to go to the store. But lo and behold, I called and again no one answered. I texted the same number from the day before and a response came back that they would contact the store to give me a call. I checked in by calling the store two more times and still no answer. And no one called back that afternoon either. Sadly, I had to give up, but was glad to give business to a way more responsive bakery with delicious cakes.

I say it all the time in my reviews. I've had access to a plethora of coffee and matcha industry. And wherever I am on the globe, I always look for these shops during our adventures. Milly & Illian. My gosh. So welcoming. So proud of the shop, its products and their leadership. I hope the owners know. First timer here and I spent $52. Readers: the $52 was completely worth it as soon as we took a bite of the passion fruit mochi. Heaven sent. It's akin to Kailua's Bits & Bites on Oahu. Please don't ever close. Please stay open longer. This is the first time I've tried this after wanting to visit for so many years. I work full time andddd I live in 707 so it's a little bit of a trek out here. Orrrrr consider bringing this to 707- I would recommend Benicia if you are familiar with first street. You'd kill it here! I want to bring it back to my guys Milly and Illian. I'm big big big on energy and customer service and you both broughttttt it. Being 38 when I visit these very trendy IG worthy spots, I'm usually disappointed- if not by the coffee or dessert, most definitely by the customer service. Read all my reviews, it's my first comment usually. To the owners reading this, seriously give a shout out to these lovlies. They started my day on the right foot. Xoxo Can't wait to see what you bring back from Taiwan (see the guys shared where you are- sure to make the matcha and mochi shop even cooler). I'll come back soon! Kathleen

In order to find good matcha I usually have to go out to Berkeley or SF but decided to give this spot a try considering my friend was visiting from Oakland. Upon arrival, I appreciated the parking available for customers. However after noticing some workers were cleaning up, we quickly realized we had actually came ten minutes before closing! We felt so bad so we rushed in to place our order as quickly as we could. We noticed as one of the workers were getting ready to close the main door, she was a bit rude to the other worker seemingly about doing other closing tasks. We overlooked this but were glad the other kind worker welcomed us in. I ordered mango matcha and my friend ordered a strawberry matcha which were great choices! However, I was glad I chose mango! I think their recipe definitely is better than other competing matcha spots in the area. As we waited for our drinks we noticed the cute sign they had! Definitely a nice touch to the shops ambiance. As we were getting ready to leave, the kind worker who took our order even asked us if we wanted any of their leftover pastries! We chatted and she mentioned how they were closing for a week long summer break. My friend and I picked pastries based on how they looked, and she even proceeded to tell us a bit about the flavors they had. Although I don't consume gluten free products myself, this was definitely a plus for other customers who might. When we got to the car we tried some pastries. I fell in love with the churro pastry and my friend enjoyed the muffin with seeds on top (reference picture included). Now, I will definetely be coming back and getting their pastries and matcha, thanks to that amazing worker! (wish I caught her name)

The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good. Other than an error in fulfilling the order correctly and a couple a poor pastries (quality), it was a good first visit, and we all would come back when near a location.
