I came by here due to my Mercedes key battery dying and had to go in a different car. The key sadly wasn't labeled with the type. So I did a check online and told the guy what I thought it was. He said not to worry about it and could check it with the sensor reader machine. He put the practice battery in and checked it...what a nifty machine! This was my second visit and with a different vehicle. Both times they were very helpful, and it looks like they have a great selection and many different quantities if you like to buy in bulk. Caveat Emptor - Batteries Plus First, I called the local store at: 11019 Culebra, San Antonio, TX to confirm they would install a battery into my vehicle and was told "yes." To receive the advertised discount, I had to order online for instore pickup. I ordered online and the battery should have been ready for pickup. Then, I decided to get two additional batteries for other vehicles. When I tried to order two Optima batteries, the website said that I had to call the store. The store said that they had NONE in inventory and would have them by the weekend. I could not have picked up the Optima battery I ordered. They said that I should cancel the online order, reorder through the store, and they would apply the discount as a military discount. It is not possible to cancel an online order online and I had to call the store again to both cancel the online order and to order three batteries. The weekend passed without a call from Batteries Plus. I called them to find that they made a mistake and did not order the batteries and that they would be in by the following weekend. When I went to the store to get one battery installed and pick up the other two, I got a lot of pushback about installing the battery. They said that they were not allowed to remove the fuse box that was on top of the battery. I disputed their assertion about the truck configuration and said to cancel the order and refund my money. There was no fuse box near the battery. Batteries Plus then decided they could install the battery. When removing the battery they sat it on my fender and scratched it. When installing the battery, they did not use any battery terminal grease and said they were not allowed to use it. Staff seemed absolutely uninterested! read more

I needed a 12 V battery. The guy behind the counter seemed bothered by my request to show me where they were located in the store. Just waved in general to the store and said they're everywhere in here, like, can't you see you lady? It turns out I needed a 9 V battery but he wasn't very nice about helping me figure that out. He was just rude. I can read and write English very well, and when he finally did show me the batteries, I asked him does this really last 10 years like the packaging says? He points to the package and says it says 10 years. He can't be bothered to help someone who obviously needed help, I can't be bothered to help support a business with that kind of customer service, or lack there of. I mean they have all kinds of batteries and light bulbs and they even have the rarest type of bulb you can imagine, that is in current use, of course...nothing from last century or anything but you don't need to go to Walmart to find something and then go to Home Depot because you won't find it there either...so just save your self the travel and gas and just get it all here, yes, even your fancy pants watch, you can replace that battery here too! read more

I ordered a battery for a Canon camera on the website that said was available. Then the manager called me saying it wasn't in stock and the only way to refund my money was to go in to the store, which is something I've never had to do at any other company. So I go in for my refund and ask why the website says it's available but not in stock. He says we don't have control over the website. Then I ask who the owner is. He thinks for a bit and just makes something up and says "Joe". I asked Joe who? And he says I'm not sure. Terrible experience from beginning to end. (Already frustrates me) ... well while confused at all the different batteries available and which tiny battery was the correct one--a representative came up to me and said he could install new batteries for me, for $10- including the cost of the battery! This is feedback for this specific store and for the Batteries Plus franchise. It is misleading to provide a product that you can't service. I bought a car battery from Batteries Plus. From time to time, batteries stop working. So I brought my vehicle to this store for battery testing because my battery is still under warranty. My first mistake, buying a battery from a non-car focused business. Second mistake, expecting this "reputable" company to be able to help me. Long story short... this business had inadequate testing devices that couldn't test the product that they provide. Also, due to the inadequacy of the battery tester/company. I was told by the employee that not only could they NOT test my battery. It was my responsibility to drive the vehicle, out of my way (with a faulty battery) to another neighboring city, so the battery could be tested at a corporate office... Also- because my vehicle has a more complicated battery installation process - they didn't have the expertise to replace the battery anyway. So - I already lost the battle when I chose this company and never knew it until today. I took the car to Auto Zone - they tested the battery and gave me perfect instructions on what to do next. Moral of the story - use Batteries Plus for your hearing aids and flashlights and light bulbs ... leave your car matters to the experts. Save yourself grief and time and the feelings of being mislead and dismissed. At the end of the day, I don't want to deal with this company ever again. Lessons learned/money lost. Buyer beware. Make informed choices about even the most mundane purchases. I understand Batteries Plus stores are independently owned franchises which is why it's nice to support a business that likely has a local owner. But this experience wasn't worth that level of loyalty. I will go where I feel appreciated as a customer and not pawned off on someone else. Get your policies together and your equipment. read more

Very helpful staff here. They stock a myriad of batteries, some hard to find items. Lately, they have had every watch battery I needed. I replace myself, but if you are not able to yourself they can do for you. Also, I bought a car battery from them for my Corvette, they had the exact item in stock at half the price of a GM battery. Made an appointment on line for a new battery in my iPhone 5c. My brother in law had just gone through the Apple Store and insured a 3 hour fun fest with an appointment. We arrive on time and CODY checked the phone and started to swap the battery. It took ten minutes! No lines...no wait. Charged the phone to 96% while doing some other errands. It's working great. I purchased a battery for my 2007 mini cooper s. While installing it, I noticed that the negative battery clamp was loose and in the course of my attention being redirected, I forgot to correct the issue. About a month later, my car had difficulty starting and I had it towed to the repair shop. In the course of trying to determin the cause of the malfunction, it was noticed by the mechanic that the negative terminal was loose and it caused the cars computer to be shorted out. The car was in the shop for some time while a replacement DME ( computer ) and EWS was located to correct the issue. The battery was also replaced by my mechanic to correct the loose negative connection. I finally was able to afford the $1800 to get my car back this past weekend. I am on a fixed income and had to save up the money by doing without other things. Anyway, fast forward to today. I took the battery back to where I purchased it from ( this location ) and was told that since it was over two months old, I was out of luck. This was relayed to me by a store employee who said that it was the decision of the store owner. I wasn't asking for the costs of the repairs or anything, just my money back or at least a pro rated amount. Way to take advantage of a senior citizen. Well, guess I'll be having battery for my once a day meal. Not everybody has $246.54 laying around with nothing better to use it on. read more

A while back I had them rebuild a 12V drill battery. Turn-around was slower than I liked and price was OK. This week I needed a security alarm battery (12V 7.4Ah SLA). They confirmed my old one was shot. They charged $40 with tax for a 7 Ah replacement. Another local supplier (AlTex) has an 8Ah replacement for $21.60. Bottom line, for off the shelf batteries, shop around. This store's prices are above the market. read more

Seen the bad reviews. Maybe old personnel, but I had a very good experience today. Very knowledgable and courteous. Was hesitant at first. Brought a previously purchased motorcycle battery in after unsuccessfully charging on a trickle for the last 5 months--we do weekend motorcycle outings. Manager "Wayne" said the battery had been neglected and unused/un-maintained, and was very accusatory and unprofessional, with a seemingly pointed focus on not honoring the "warranty" they offer. They need another customer-friendly person to run this business, this guy stinks at his job--and they need to honor their warranties. They claim to repair iPads and I took mine in. Well when I picked it up, the volume button and start button no longer worked, and they didn't fix the problem I brought it in with. Then they claimed it was the software, because they replaced the hardware. Software updated. Still same problem. Nothing fixed and now two more things are wrong with the iPad than the initial single problem. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend trusting their techs for fixing your devices, if you value them. read more
